Error in report "8.2 ORacle Essbase- Source Blending Page"

Hi,
I got an error in the report in "8.2 ORacle Essbase- Source Blending Page" after i deployed sample core and aslo configured with hyperion Essbase cubes related to this dashboard page.
The main issue i was struggling is i have 2 more working instances configure with same essbase cube, those are working fine and report is showing in other 2 instances, but the 3 rd instance is showing error.. I deployed sample app core perfectly and all reports are showing only this report is giving me error.
Even i tried by copying the xmls from the working instances also but no luck..Can any one suggest wat will be went wrong at my side.. 2 more instance are working fine with those cubes.
Please see the below error message i was getting for that report.

Ora-06502 pl/sql numeric or value error in Report Query in oracle apex

I need your help...
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
I am using bi publisher to generate PDF reports in oracle apex.
We were using APEX 4.0 and migrated to 4.2 just a week ago.
Now we have apex 4.2.
When I try to Create report query,
Shared Components >> Report Queries then create.
and test a report in a create wizard I am getting a error "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small".
I have also applied a patch "16760897".
This issue is because of number of columns in a query is more then 26.
If I run a report with 26 or less number of columns then the is working fine, otherwise getting this error.
My before migration report queries working perfectly even now, but not new queries.
This issue is also in apex.oracle.com.

Error while creating a report that uses Oracle OCI JDBC connectivity

I was trying to create a report that uses Oracle OCI JDBC connectivity. I am using Eclipse3.4 download from "cr4e-all-in-one-win_2.0.2.zip". I have successfully created a JDBC OCI connection.
The connection parameters are given below:
URL: jdbc:oracle:oci8:@xe
Database: xe
username: <userName>
password: <password>
I have tested the above connection in Data source Explorer and it works fine!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I was able to create a report in Creystal Reports Designer 2008 using OCI. It is not allowing only in the Eclipse plugin. In our environment we are not allowed to user Oracle thin connections and ONLY OCI is allowed.
1) Can you please let me know if there is a way to do this?
2) Will it allow data sources using native database driver?
3) If so, can I use JRC to create these reports from a desktop java program?

CrystalReports error in XI 3.1 with Oracle Data Source

Having trouble running Crystal Reports with Oracle data source off XI 3.1 SP3. Reports hang through CMC or InfoView. Have no trouble on identical environment (presumably) with the same reports. Basically this happened after migration.
Report can be run on designer on the server box (suggesting the connection is good) however once uploaded to CMS, it hangs with error. This is not about an specific report only reports with Oracle Data source (Oracle client already installed and connection established)
Any comments appreciated.

Error Running Reports as Portlet in Oracle AS 10g

#First, I create the report server using Reports Server Access Portlet (Administration> Oracle Reports Security Setting)
When defining the Server Name and Printers, I fill the fields like this:
Display Name : MY_REPORTS_SERVER
Reports Server Name : myserver
Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for JSP reports : http://stts:7778/
Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for RDF reports : http://stts:7778/reports/rwservlet
#Second, I create the report definition using Reports Definition File Access portlet
Display Name : myreport
Reports Servers : MY_REPORTS_SERVER
Oracle Reports File Name : test.rdf (default report sample)
Execute : via servlet
#The problem is.....
When I tried to run the report by clicking Run / Run as Portlet link, the report doesn't show up.
Then, I rightclick-View Page Source on the page

I found that the src tag is doubling my computername into sttsstts, it supposed to be stts only.
How come this happen???

but the when tried to run the report again, the src still added by computername become:

My formatting gets lost and the message looks unintelligible. After some experimentation, I found that if the message exceeds some length, the formatting is removed. Hey everyone, So I am trying to get a report onto the server, and in BIDS I kept getting a login screen repeating over and over when I tried to deploy my report, so I tried to upload the file at http://<servername>/Reports This worked, but then trying
to run this report from http://<servername>/Reports did not work either because "An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source 'FTYDataSource'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information
about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors" Anyways I tried to add a New Data Source (which I would use in the report) at http://<servername>/Reports, type ODBC, with the connection string Dsn=blah_blahblah.
I try to test the connection here and get the error ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified This is really getting old fast, everything I try, a new error comes up. Granted I am new at this,

Hi,
Please try setting the credentials of the datasource.
1. Double click and open the datasource in your project.
2. Click on the credentials tab, and click on option button 'Use this username and password'
3. Enter the username and password to connect to the datasource
4. Deploy or upload the datasource to the report server and try accessing the reports.

Oracle Data Source for Essbase

Hi, Good Morning to ALL,
I have a doubt using Oracle Data Source with Essbase. When we use Oracle as the Data Source to load the data into Essbase cubes which of the following options would be better?
1. Is it better to create a single table or view, when the data is in multiple tables and then load into essbase?
OR
2. Is it better to join the tables by entering the SELECT statement in the Administration Services Console during the data load?
Which of these methods can be processed faster?

There are a couple of theories for loading Essbase from relational sources.
To be optimal there are techniques that you can create in the relational database to make joining more efficient.
Single View/Table
Everything you need in one large view. You can create one of these every period if you are performing incremental loads.
Star Schema
One large fact table all dimensions are represented with single Id foreign keys
One dimension table per dimension whose primary keys are connected to the fact
Snow-flake Schema
One large fact table all dimensions are represented with single Id foreign keys
Mutiple dimension tables per dimension whose primary keys are foreign keys in each connecting table then to the fact
These are the "text book" options; many other hybrid ways have been developed in recent years.
I would recommend using EIS against any relational source, as it will guide you through the OLAP loading process.

Not able to connect to Oracle Data source in Oracle Essbase Studio 11.1.2.2

Hi,
When i tried to connect to Oracle data source, i get this error "Unable to establigh connection. Ensure that the server is running, the user name and password are correct, and the ohter data fields match the server's configuration" when i tried to select database.
If i change server name from to localhost, it allows to select database and does not give any error. but clicking on next button says localhost is not accepted, it needs machine name. Then how to connect to Oracle Data source?

It is possible the Oracle db has not been installed correctly, I take this is a personal install on a laptop, if so did you install the loopback adaptor.
Have you tried the connection using the ip of the machine.

Error / fails to connect Oracle data source using deploy tool

Hi,
I want to deploy SAP AS on my company's J2EE application. I deployed the application using Deploy Tool successfully. The application is started without error.
When I tried connecting the log on page. I got error in LogViewer:

I changed to Vendor SQL and set Initial Connection to 1.
On Monitor tab, I see a green line running across the screen.
I believe this proves that the connection has been established.

Unable to load database connector - using JRC w/report connecting to Oracle

A simple Java program was created to test a Crystal Report using JRC. The Java program is a thick-client Swing desktop application (modified from an example of crxi_r2_migrating_rdc_to_jrc.pdf). The program failed to execute the report with the following error:
Unable to load database connector u2018com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.driverImpl.DriverLoader'
It might be something simple to correct the problem, but I am not able to find related answers in the documentation and from the forum.
CR version is XI R2. The Java program was compiled and run using jdk1.4.2_13. Oracle is 10.2.
Do I have to use JDBC? or the CR Oracle driver will do? What needs to be setup? If I use JDBC, what do I need to setup (I tried to following the links in the forums or other documentation, but most of the links to http://support.businessobjects.com/.... are broken - i.e. re-route to the SAP support page but not directly linked to the articles)
When the report JRCTestReport.rpt was saved with the option "Save Data With Report", it works fine. So the problem is only with Oracle database driver, the other jars are fine.
In the report JRCTestReport.rpt the database properties are:

After I switched the report to use JDBC, I am still getting the same error.
Machine has multiple jdk, oracle 10g, Oracle11g client installed though. So I need to set my path to use the jdk from Crystal Report and Oracle 10g.

Error execute report in R12

Hi all,
I think I better change this question into a sharing because I'd solved my problem :p.
Below is my first post in this thread before I found the solution :
I hoped I put this in the right forum. Before I ask the question, here are my environment:
Operating system : Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 update 6
RDBMS : 10.2.0.3.0
Oracle Applications : 12.0.4
Report Builder : 10.1.2.0.2
I created a report using Oracle Report Developer then I upload it to my Apps machine. After set all the executable and validation set I tested the report. At first the request completed with status Warning. Viewed the log I got warning like this :
REP-0004: Warning: Unable to open user preference file
After browse metalink and OTN (such as in Reports Compilation Errors: REP-25200 / REP-0004 / REP-1430 and in Re: REP-0004 Error... it seems that the problem was because prefs.ora was not present in $HOME so I copied the prefs.ora file from /apps/tech_st/10.1.2/tools/admin to $HOME then I requested the reports again. This time that error didn't show up and the request completed normal but there's no output at all. The same report did show output when tested in Oracle Report Developer.
I opened the report file in Report Developer and tried to compile it (Tools > File Conversion) from rdf to rdf using different name then I copied the report and tested again. This time the request completed normal but still no output. When I viewed the log I got this error message:
Oracle error -6502: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: associative array shape is not consistent with session parameters has been detected in fnd_global.put(PERMISSION_CODE, FND_PERMIT_0000).

The SQL statement being executed at the time of the error was: begin fnd_global.set_nls_context( p_nls_numeric_characters => :nc ); end; and was executed from the file &ERRFILE.
The routine FDPREP was unable to set the numeric character to .,.
So I tried another way, I recreate the report but try to display only some fields. The fields must be put in a repeating frame because if I tried to put in a normal frame caused reports developer displayed error message that I put the field below it's frequency. After put some fields in the repeating frame I tested the report again in Oracle Apps. this time the result was Completed Normal but still no data (0 byte) though in Reports Developer it showed some data. After some test I got conclusion that the data can only be put in a repeating frame if all the data were put in the same level (e.g.: all the field put in the same repeating frame) and can't be break down where there exist repeating frame in a repeating frame (nested repeating frame) as if you want to create grouping while want I want is to create grouping. Using Reports Developer wizard to create the report gave me the same result, no data displayed.
Now, anyone know how to solve that problem? thanks.

For REP-0004: Warning: Unable to open user preference file error message
Just copy the prefs.ora file from /apps/tech_st/10.1.2/tools/admin to $HOME then the error message wouldn't show up anymore. Though based on my experience this error message can be omitted further analyze would be good to know if there's any impact to the system or performance or anything else.
For no data displayed error
Make sure the setup was right especially the token field as that was my problem. The token field was not the same as the bind variable in the report query, that's why the request completed normal and no data displayed :P it's very foolish of me to miss that simple thing.

How to apply patch just for database only? Reading the readme file it said that to apply patch was only using command :
$ opatch apply
However we need to ensure that the directory containing the opatch script appears in $PATH. I found that opatch.pl exist in $ORACLE_HOME/Opatch but I can't use opatch though I had sourcing application enviroment or database environment.
I echoed $PATH and $ORACLE_HOME/Opatch (which either ../db/tech_st/10.2.0 for database or ../apps/tech_st/10.1.2/Opatch) and found was not in the $PATH.
I assumed that I shouldn't change the application environment or database environment file recklessly so that $ORACLE_HOME/Opatch appears in $PATH.
However if I tried to run opatch directly from it's folder then I got this following error :
OPatch cannot find a valid oraInst.loc file to locate Central Inventory
So my questions are :
1. Do I need to source environment before running opatch? If yes, which one, application environment or database environment?
2. How to set the Central Inventory location so that opatch recognized it? Is it by sourcing the environment in question 1?
3. Which opatch must I run? The one in application tier or in database tier?
4. How to run it? Type all the path directly (as /db/tech_st/10.2.0/OPatch/opatch)?
