Error in Restoring the HDD partition using BootCamp assist
This is regarding error in restoring the HDD partition using BootCamp assist. Yesterday I was trying to instal Windows 8.1 Pro on my Mac Mini.
Started had installing windows software using Boot Camp assist using the USB flash drive
Took the back of Windows Support software from Apple store
Did the HDD partitioning for Windows,
Then went ahead to install the windows and automatically machine restarted.
After few minutes started installing Windows... and stuck for more than 3hrs at by displaying the blue screen of Windows installation... and inactive
I had restarted the using start button, and finally I could not able to install Windows.
Then I got black screen with message ' No boot disk, please insert boot the disk and press any key to restart'
I have restarted using start button by holding 'Alt' key
Finally I could able to started machine with OS X
Now I wanted to remove the partition created above, using Boot Camp assist, but it is not able to do it. There is error message ' Error while restoring the hard disk'
Any help, how to remove this partitioning? Also in every restart I need to hold 'Alt' key to boot the machine with OS X.
-Narsimloo Begari
if you've tried and cannot remove the partition with boot camp assistant, you'll have to open disk utility and reformat the partition there - choose mac journaled and then try to combine this partition back into your existing Mac partition

Thanks in Advance...
Regards
Pravesh UpadhyayDevika,
You have to stop all your adapters, your repository, close all IStudio client and stop all sessions connected to this schema before running the oaiimport.
If you don't do this the oaiimport will not work properly as the script will not be able to drop the user and will try to re-create existing objects.
Tip : use the following select to list the session using oaihub902 user (and get rid off them)
select username, count(*)
from V$session
where username in ('OAIHUB902')
group by username
order by count(*) desc, username

Grow Windows Partition using BootCamp or 3rd party application
Hi,
My client is using a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Leopard and Windows Vista 32 bit. The client uses Windows most of the time.
My question is, can I grow the Windows Partition using BootCamp or a 3rd party app without having to reinstall Windows?Hi,
best way to enlarge the BootCamp partition is the useage of WinClone http://twocanoes.com/winclone/ which also is a great backup app for BootCamp Windows.
Here are the step-by-step instructions on how-to do this: http://www.twocanoes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=515 (Under *My current Windows partition is the wrong size, and I want to make it larger. How do I do this?* )
Other applications which claim that hey can resize BootCamp Windows partitions are iPartition and Drive Genius, but I never have used them.

Partition using Bootcamp and Windows 7
Hi
Would it be a good approach to partition using Bootcamp then install Windows 7? Later I plan to install Parallells. Can it be down this way or should I install Parallels first, then Windows 7?
Thank you.You may have to see about using the Recovery HD partition to attempt to erase and restore useful function of the capacity lost to the former Windows installation.
And you may have to backup your contents outside the computer to do it. Disk Utility on the Mac OS X historically has not been able to touch a BootCamp created partition; so if BootCamp cannot remove it, then you have to see how to do the equivalent of a reformat of the entire drive (less Recovery partition?) then reinstall your OS X. Maybe from internet recovery, then get your applications, etc from the Mac App store, etc.
A complete system clone of your OS X on an external HDD would be another method to restore after reformat, of the portion you want whole again, not necessarily the space where Recovery may live.
There may be (an)other way(s).
Perhaps someone with recent experience
in this matter can reply & discuss options.
With my antiques, they almost know what I want before I tell them.
Hopefully yours will after you talk to it awhile.
Good luck & happy computing! -

Can I delete the mac partition used to create the boot camp partition?
I am using Mac OS 10.9.5 on a late 2011 17" Macbook Pro.
I currently have an SSD in the primary drive slot with my primary Mac partition and an HDD in the Superdrive slot that has one unused Mac partition that I would like to delete and a Windows 8 partition that I would like to keep.
Can I delete the extra Mac partition on the HDD so I can use that as spare space? It was the Mac partition that was used to run Boot Camp and create the Windows 8 partition that is on the same drive so I am nervous that the Windows 8 partition needs to rely on that Mac partition to work for whatever reasons.
I recently went through a huge ordeal to create a Windows 8 Boot Camp partition as I wanted it on my computer. I had previously taken out the Superdrive and replaced it with a data doubler and the original hdd, and I had an aftermarket SSD in the primary drive bay. I had been using the SSD as my Mac partition and the HDD as spare storage space. For my Boot Camp config, I wanted to split the HDD into 2 partitions and make one Windows 8 and the other spare storage space while keeping the SSD dedicated to my Mac partition. Achieving that required removing the SSD, removing the data doubler, reinstalling the Superdrive, putting the original HDD back in the primary drive slot, installing and updating Mac OS on the HDD, using that Mac install to run Boot Camp and create a second partition for Windows 8, installing Windows from the Superdrive, and then putting everything back by taking out the Superdrive, putting the HDD back in the data doubler, and putting the SSD back in. Everything works now. Understandably I don't want to break anything and have to redo this process.
That said I do want to delete that extra Mac partition and use it as extra storage, if I can do so without breaking the Boot Camp Windows 8 partition.ilovemac wrote:
Use Disk Utility and remove the "BOOTCAMP" partition. Then make "Macintosh HD" all the way to the bottom to regain space.
Wrong advice. Do not use Disk Utility. Use Bootcamp Assistant to remove the Bootcamp partition and return the drive to a single OSx partition. Using Disk Utility will result in lost space, lost data, and possibly an unusable OSx partition. Read the Bootcamp help and user guides. -
Restoring the recovery partition
Hello,
We have recently puchased some Lenovo ThinkCentre E72 SFF, please tell us how we can restore the recovery partition on the HDD if we change or deleted this hidden drive. We created the USB recovery disk. The PC has windows 8 pro 64 bit OEM
Thank youSounds like you used the Microsoft Windows 8 tool to create a recover USB drive, and not the Lenovo process to create restore media. Lenovo has no bearing on this process, it is a Microsoft application.
Boot from the USB drive, and it will direct you how to restore. This HERE gives the steps needed. -
I'm trying to use bootcamp assistant and I keep getting an error message saying I need at least 10gb available on my start up disk and I have 27gb available. Any suggestions?
That is not what it says, please post the exact and complete message, take a screenshot.

RMThe fact that you are getting an "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied" message indicates that you are at least talking to the database.
The log shows that username "infdomain" is being used. Can you double check the username and password you have in DAC in a SQL*Plus/SQL Developer session?

Restore the dropped tablespace using RMAN?
Hello,
I have done a oracle tablespace re-org for PSAPPOOLD,PSAPPOOLI. Now I want to restore only the OLD PSAPPOOLD,PSAPPOOLI tablespace using TAPE backup via RMAN.
The probelm is I have dropped the old tablespace during re-org which is a part of the re-org. Is it possible to restore the dropped tablespace using RMAN?
My Oracle version is 9.2.05
if anyone has done this before, please share your valuable ideas.
I wrote the below script for the restore.
run {
allocate channel ch1 type sbt_tape;
startup nomount
restore controlfile; -
>(I guess,if I restore old control file, I might get old structure which help the restore of TB)
alter database mount ;
restore tablespace PSAPPOOLD,PSAPPOOLI;
recover tablespace PSAPPOOLD,PSAPPOOLI;;
release channel ch1;
Thanks,
Arjun

Hello Arjun,
why would you want to do this?
What is is you want to achieve by this action?
BTW: it's not possible to do that.
Check [Performing RMAN Tablespace Point-in-Time Recovery|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/rcmtspit.htm].
You want a "Tablespace point in time recovery" (TSPITR) for a dropped tablespace and that is just not possible with RMAN.
So, the easiest way for you to get this tablespace back would be to restore and recover the database to a different host.
Ah, while we're at it: using RMAN outside the BRTOOLS is not supported by SAP - so you better be a wiz with it because there won't be much help in case anything does not work.
