  • "Error running javac.exe compiler" when using ant to compile Eclipse plugin

    Hi
    I encounter an error "Error running C:\jdk1.5.0_06\bin\javac.exe compiler" when building my project using ant1.7.
    My project has 10 eclipse plugins, and each plugin is compiled by invoking following ant target
    <!-- ===================================================================
    Compile specified plugin
         target parameters:
              param.plugin.dir: the plugin directory
              param.plugin.targetJarFile: the name of jar file for the given plugin
              param.plugin.src.dir: the folder name of source codes. Note: it is relative path name
              param.fork: indicate if another process is forked to run javac
    =================================================================== -->
    <target name="compilePlugin">
         <!-- Prepare compile environment -->
         <!-- Delete obsolete build folder -->
         <delete dir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}" quiet="true"/>
         <!-- Delete obsolete jar file -->
         <delete file="${param.plugin.dir}/${param.plugin.targetJarFile}" quiet="true"/>
         <mkdir dir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}"/>
         <!-- Compile source codes -->
         <javac      srcdir="${param.plugin.dir}/${param.plugin.src.dir}"
                   destdir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}"
                   failonerror="${javacFailOnError}"
                   verbose="${javacVerbose}"
                   debug="${javacDebugInfo}"
                   deprecation="${javacDeprecation}"
              optimize="${javacOptimize}"
                   source="${javacSource}"
                   target="${javacTarget}"
                   fork="${param.fork}" memoryInitialSize="256m" memoryMaximumSize="512m">
              <classpath refid="compile.classpath" />
         </javac>
         <!-- Create plugin jar file -->
         <copy todir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}" failonerror="true">
              <fileset dir="${param.plugin.dir}/${param.plugin.src.dir}" excludes="**/*.java, **/package.htm*" />
         </copy>
         <jar jarfile="${param.plugin.dir}/${param.plugin.targetJarFile}" basedir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}"/>
         <delete dir="${param.plugin.dir}/${build.dir}" quiet="true"/>
    </target>
    Since each of first 9 plugins contains less than 500 java source files, we always set "param.fork" to false when invoking this ant target.
    For the 10th plugin, it has about 1000 source files. If we set "param.fork" to false, we will get the error "Error running javac.exe compiler". So we have to set "param.fork" to true when compiling it. This week, this plugin contains about 1250 files and we get the same error again when compiling it. I tried to increase the "memoryMaximumSize" to "768", but still couldn't get through it.
    BTW, There are about 150 jar files in our classpath for compiling plugins. Do many jar files cause this problem?
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Oceanman

    I encountered a very similar error and I was able to resolve it by removing the following parameters from the javac task:
    fork="${param.fork}"
    memoryInitialSize="256m"
    memoryMaximumSize="512m"My values were not the same as yours, before I removed them, the values were set to:
    fork="true"
    memoryInitialSize="256m"
    memoryMaximumSize="256m" Not sure why this fixed my problem but it did. I was using Ant 1.7 and Java 1.6_07 hope this helps.

  • Running JAVAC error

    Helli Friends
    I'n installed JDK1.2 on my computer(because of the big size of the newest jdk I can't download the latest version). And my OS is Win XP SP2. Installing will be finished completely and successfully. But the problem is that when I run JAVAC to compile my written codes, I get this windows error:
    javac.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    What is the reason and what should I do to solve this problem?
    Regards

    Sorry, but java 1.2 also misses much.
    On XP setting the folder in the Windows Explorer for a java 1.4 to compressed saved from 48MB to 33MB. Some software distributions on CD come with their own JDK.
    There seems to be in the internet a free online-compilation site, got no idea whether that would be something.

    Best Regards

    most likely the javac executable is not on the system path. Try typing 'javac -version' in a command prompt and see what response you get.
    If it is something like 'javac is not a recognized...', locate where the JDK is installed and add its bin subdirectory to the PATH system variable. Restart any command prompt and type javac again.
    You DID have a JDK installed, didn't you?

    }Save it as "C:\Grunt.java", compile by typing:
    javac c:\Grunt.javaRun by typing:
    java -classpath "C:\" GruntDoes it say "Hello Mars"? If yes, go back to your program and compare for differences (maybe you used the "package" statement?).

  • Runtime.exec() fails to run "javac" with "*.java" as arguments

    Hello,
    I am observing that Runtime.exec() consistently fails to execute "javac" when the Java files to be compiled are specified as "*.java". It fails with the following error:
    javac: file not found: /home/engine931/*.java
    Usage: javac <options> <source files>
    The same command used for Runtime.exec() runs fine from a the command shell. Is this is known problem with the Runtime class on UNIX, because it works fine on Windows.
    Any advise is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ranjit

    Your shell is expanding the command when you run javac from the shell. Try constructing your Runtime parameters so that your shell is executed, which then executes javac.
    The specific behavior is entirely dependent on the command interpreter that's used.

  • Cannot  run javac

    hello everybody.,
    ive installed jdk1.6 in my system.
    while going to the command prompt
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin>
    and whie running javac i found an error as follows,
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin>javac
    'javac' is not recognised as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    can anybody help me out , plzzzz....

    vam,
    This isn't really a java question but (more a windows one) but OK.
    The problem would appear to be with your path, The stated directory: jre1.6.0_07 is the RUNTIME environment (java.exe), not the development kit (javac.exe)...
    Are you sure you downloaded and installed the Development Kit (JDK), and not just the Runtime Kit (JRE)?
    If you're not sure if you have the JDK or which directory you installed it to then do a search (just use windows-explorer) for javac.exe ... (if there are several then choose the latest version (NEVER the windows system one)) and add it's directory to the FRONT of the path. The easiest way to do this is to open-the-containing-directory of the LATEST javac.exe found by the search, then copy the path from the address bar of the resulting windows-explorer to clipboard, then go [add it to the _FRONT_ of the path|http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000549.htm].
    Also... If there are other JDK directories allready in the path then you really should probably remove them, they should be just superflous, but they may come back and bight you in the future.
    Cheers. Keith.

  • Error while running a KPI Watchlist in obiee 11g dashboard

    I am getting the following error while running a KPI Watchlist :
    *" Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW) "*
    I added two KPI's (KPI 1 & KPI 2)into that Watchlist , one from the default "Sample Sales Lite" (sub 1) and another from sub 2 which have essbase as data source .
    KPI 1 (created from sub 1) is working fine , but while placing KPI 2 (created from sub 2 ) in the watchlist , its throwing the above error . However , while running KPI 2 individually , its showing meaningful results .
    Let me know if the problem statement is not clear .
    OBIEE version used : 11.1.1.5.0 .

    Could anyone reply this thread. I am also getting the same error . Even server logs are also not helping.

  • Error in running a function to convert coordinates in degrees to decimal for EXCEL VBA

    For your information, I have 3 cross-posts regarding this question - and all I can said there is still no firm solution regarding this error.
    1) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27634586/error-in-running-a-function-to-convert-coordinates-in-degrees-to-decimal-for-exc/27637367#27637367
    2) http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/826099-error-running-function-convert-coordinates-degrees-decimal-excel-visual-basic-applications.html#post4030377
    3) http://www.excelguru.ca/forums/showthread.php?3909-Error-in-running-a-function-to-convert-coordinates-in-degrees-to-decimal-for-EXCEL-VB&p=16507#post16507
    and the story of the error is as below:
    Currently I am working on VBA excel to create a widget to verify coordinates whether it lies under the radius of ANOTHER predefined and pre-specified sets of coordinates.
    In the module, I want to convert the coordinates from degrees to decimal before doing the calculation - as the formula of the calculation only allow the decimal form of coordinates.
    However, each and every time I want to run the macros this error (Run-time error '5', invalid procedure call or argument) will appear. Then, the debug button will bring me to below line of coding:
    degrees = Val(Left(Degree_Deg, InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "°") - 1))
    For your information, the full function is as below:
    Function Convert_Decimal(Degree_Deg As String) As Double
    'source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/213449
    Dim degrees As Double
    Dim minutes As Double
    Dim seconds As Double
    Degree_Deg = Replace(Degree_Deg, "~", "°")
    degrees = Val(Left(Degree_Deg, InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "°") - 1))
    minutes = Val(Mid(Degree_Deg, InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "°") + 2, _
    InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "'") - InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "°") - 2)) / 60
    seconds = Val(Mid(Degree_Deg, InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "'") + _
    2, Len(Degree_Deg) - InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "'") - 2)) / 3600
    Convert_Decimal = degrees + minutes + seconds
    End Function
    Thank you.
    Your kind assistance and attention in this matter are highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Nina.

    You didn't give an example of your input string but try the following
    Sub test()
    Dim s As String
    s = "180° 30' 30.5""""" ' double quote for seconds
    Debug.Print Deg2Dec(s) ' 180.508472222222
    End Sub
    Function Deg2Dec(sAngle As String) As Double
    Dim mid1 As Long
    Dim mid2 As Long
    Dim degrees As Long
    Dim minutes As Long
    Dim seconds As Double ' or Long if only integer seconds
    sAngle = Replace(sAngle, " ", "")
    mid1 = InStr(sAngle, "°")
    mid2 = InStr(sAngle, "'")
    degrees = CLng(Left$(sAngle, mid1 - 1))
    minutes = CLng(Mid$(sAngle, mid1 + 1, mid2 - mid1 - 1))
    seconds = Val(Mid$(sAngle, mid2 + 1, 10)) ' change 10 to 2 if only integer seconds
    Deg2Dec = degrees + minutes / 60 + seconds / 3600
    End Function
    As written the function assumes values for each of deg/min/sec are included with unit indicators as given. Adapt for your needs.
    In passing, for any work with trig functions you will probably need to convert the degrees to radians.
