Error in Slideshow?

I'm trying to make a slideshow in iPhoto so I can export is a .mov file. However, every time I drag photos into a slideshow, one or more of the photos gets changed; the image is now a copy of one of the other images, but the title stays correct. It exports like this too. Any ideas?

It's now time to bring in the BIG GUNS. Download and use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Invalid Filename or Volume Error on Slideshow Export

I have a slideshow in Aperture that is giving me an error message when I try to Export the Slideshow.  The message says, "Unable to Export Slideshow:  An invalid filename or voume was encountered."  What does this mean, and how do I fix it?
The slideshow is 952 slides with music.  It runs fine in Aperture, but crashes when I try to Export.
I am running the latest version of Aperture 3.4.3 and the latest Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
    What can I do?
    Kevin

      That certainly explains it!
You should not put a slash into any filename you want to export to your disk. Avoid any characters that may have a special meaning in a pathname.

  • Error 1009 slideshow Preview

As soon as thumbnails are added to a slideshow and I hit Preview, Muse will throw out the Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. It doesn't matter if it is one, or several thumnails. The same slideshow with no thumbnails visible will preview normally. This occurs on a fresh site with nothing added other than the blank slideshow. It does not seem to matter which slideshow is placed and it even does it with the default images.
Uploading to my domain and loading the "site" works as expected.

I just worked with my new MacBook Pro to repair the somewhat common permissions issue which displays a persistent "Fetching..." instead of the proper group, then tried uninstalling Adobe Air again and reinstalling. It did not solve the problem. However, the Preview does work, but only if NOT on the master page. I had been trying to use Preview from the master page and always get the error. Then I realized I hadn't tried it from one of the pages with that master applied. That works.

  • Java Error for slideshow

    Hello;
I wrote a small slide show app using dhtml and ajax. (java) I have everything working accept the pop up window, I get a java error when I try and click on the link for the larger image. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this error?

    Thank you

    Thanks for the update.
What version of client software are you running ? (i.e. Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Linux , Mac )
What version of the browser are you using ?
Test this out with IE6 if possible or Firefox running the supported JRE client.
Since you have other JRE's installed, remove them all completely.
    1. Remove and uninstall any JRE client plugins you have on your client. (i.e. Client meaning desktop OS)
    2. Clear  cache from Java Web Start > File --> Preferences --> Advanced" tab > Clear Folder.
    3. Verify the file:
    NMSROOT/campus/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/ani/clients/lib/util/LoadXmlProperties.class exists .
    4. Create a new users account on your workstation and try accessing the topology services .
    5. If it does not work on your workstation, test it out on a Windows XP workstation, not Windows Vista or Windows 7.
For these devices, if they are still in the DCR, remove them and re-add to LMS.

  • "Media Offline" error in slideshow(s)!

I just created my first DVD with 2.0, a DL with a lot of video on it and 2 slideshows (of 90 and 55 pictures respectively). The transitions show up just fine, as does the music, but the pictures/slides themselves don't show... just Adobe's "Media Offline" picture (which I know any user of Premiere is familiar with, I'm not sure if I've seen it in Encore).
Can anyone tell me what is causing this and how to fix it?!?!
    Thanks in advance!

Got the same thing here. The worst in my case is that everythin seemed to be working correctly within the Encore Preview window but when I tried to create DVD, almost all of the pictures were considered offline.
But in my case, I DID change the loaction of the files but even then, I think it is a bug and that Encore should request the user to locate the files OR set them as offline. I tried to remove the files in the Soources/Transcodes folder. Did the trick to get them to appear as offline in Encore too BUT, now I get a "transcoded" statement in the Transcode Status column for all my offline pictures.
I tried doing a "Locate Asset" with no success (probably because Encore at the UI level doesn't see them as really offline??).
The solution to prevent to have to redo all the slideshow was to "Replace Asset" with one that is not yet imported and then, replace again with the right one.
I too hope that it will be corrected soon.

  • Invalid Media Error with Slideshow

I am trying to export a iPhoto 09 Slideshow to iDVD. It seems to take MUCH longer than it used to with iPhoto 08. The slideshow has about 900 images in it. I imported the images directly into the iPhoto Library from an external folder.
After about 3 hours of exporting, I get a message that says, "Invalid Media found in the movie" and the export stops.
What can I do to get this slideshow to export?
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I discovered this problem last night. So you are not alone with this.
I was thinking this could be related to the music I had also attached to the slide show. Though I will have to experiment a bit more to prove this thought. If this is the case, then one workaround I will try will be to export the slide show only and add the music later in iMovie for instance... But I don't consider that a solution even if it is possible.
    Regards,
    Steve

When I publish to a folder and post to my Verizon web space I get a 404 (not found) error on slideshows. • DVDSP Slideshow will not Build...

Hi, I'm wrinting this because I simply cannot build my iphoto slideshows to DVD. Here is what I have done. Maybe I've done something wrong.
I have 7 slideshows from iPhoto that I would like to put into a DVD using DVDSP3. My intentions are to open up with a 15sec intro. Following that intro will be the main menu featuring a submenu for every slideshow. Totaling 7 submenus.
What I did was I took the intro mov and placed it in track 1. I then linked track one to the main menu. I then placed the slideshows from the "stills" tab, onto the menu. I added a background song to the menu, and placed songs to go along with each slideshow.
Finally, I hit build/burn and let it go. It gets to about the 75-80% mark and then it brings up an error.
    "Slideshow 5:Invalid Video Asset"
That sounds to me like one of the files can't be understood by DVDSP3. But all the files are the same. The pictures are ALL JPEG / 720x480 / 8-bit / RGB.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thanks
    Paul

    Chris,
Thanks for the help! I got it to work. Thankfully I saved all the original pictures as uncompressed psd's so I didn't loose any quality when I saved them as picts. So I was able to build and burn the final project to a DVD and view it on my home DVD player.
On the other hand, I now have a new problem. It seems that 2 of my 7 slideshows "skrew up" at the end of the their play. I'll explain...
I have each slideshow aligned to audio. I will click on the first slideshow to begin the entire movie. The movie will go fine until it hits the END of the 3rd slideshow. When it does, it begins the 4th slideshow slide and then skips back to halfway through the 3rd slideshow. It also does this to my last show as well! What the heck is going on?!
The beauty of this is, when I click on the individual chapters, they don't do it. Please help, I want to get this project OUT!
    Thanks
    Paul

How can I find this file after following error?
    slideshow can not be export
An invalid file or volume name has been detected.
I am not able to export my slideshow at all

  • Keynote SEND TO and EXPORT returns error message re: problem/space

When I attempt to either "Send To" or "Export" a recorded Keynote presentation, I receive the error:
"Your slideshow can't be exported as a movie for an iPod There’s not enough disk space, or there was a problem with the movie file."
I attempted: Send to iWeb, Send to iTunes. I also attempted to export to Quicktime.
My system: MacBook Pro 17" 2.16 approx. 10GB free space
The lecture is just under 60 minutes in duration. No slide transitions or effects (just straight slide, slide, slide).
Hopefully someone has a fix so that I can record my presentations and send them into iWeb for my students. When I attempted an export to YouTube, Keynote became unresponsive and I had to force-quit and lost this lecture's recording.

Check the other two posts on this issue as well. We are all clearly having the same problem.

Having worked in Software QA for quite a few years (including at Apple), I am stunned this one got by. The only explanation would be that there is not a standard protocol for compatibility testing when things like Quicktime get an update. Looks like it's time for a new protocol!

  • ARD 3 stops connecting to Intel Mini

I have this strange problem that is driving me nuts with ARD 3.
I connect to my new Mac Mini (Intel) all the time to do controls and observes.
After 30 minutes to 24 hours ARD will no longer connect to the mini. If I look at the Mini's Activity monitor I can see it's usage is at 100% and it has to be quit.
Strange thing is I can still send a restart command to the Mini.
I have tried to find out what the problem is by disabling everything else I could think of and can't solve it.
I don't know if this is the right place to look but I found this crash log:

    Hola, me too.
    I have the same problem

  • I repeatedly get "error during rendering/encoding of menus/slideshow" message.  This process is the same on my iMac, MacBook and another iMac.  I have been burning dvd's int he same way for the past 12 months using the exact same steps successfully.

I keep getting "error during rendering/encoding of menus/slideshows" message.  I have been burning DVD's in exactly the same way for the past 12 months and mostly on my MacBook which is 3 years old.  Obviously I'm using iDVD.  I purchased an iMac about a year ago and moved to use this for dvd burning without problem.  A few months ago (approximately) I started to experience problems with burning with the error message above.  I tried everything including starting the whole process from scratch right down to capturing the movie clips from my video recorder into iMovie, then using them in iDVD.  Still the same message came up.  I lost count of how many times I repeated the process with different clips and variations and the same thing happened.  This was also the case with my MacBook and my husband's iMac.
After taking both of mymac's tothe service centre, having new optical thingys put it and even a new hard drive on my iMac along with a new DVD burner the same thing happened.  They told me it must be the process that I am using that is incorrect!
I took my 27" iMac to an apple shop and asked them to assist me while I use the same technique as I always had.  The same message came up so they tried using my clips in one of their mac's.  The same message. They tried it with different clips and the same message.  The only way we could get theirs to work was with a magic DVD which did not produce what I needed and was limited with only one page.
I now cannot use any of my Mac's for the intended purpose that I bought them for - to produce good media for my work!  It was suggested that I purchase some non Mac software to burn DVDs which defeats the object of having a mac with iDVD in my opinion.  I have a book on iDVD which is very informative and have followed the process to the letter and checked all the trouble shooting and still no remedy.  It was mentioned that an up-date may have caused the problem on all my macs.
I feel that this issue should be addressed by Apple as a matter of correctness.
I now find that on the net there are many posts in forums and such like with exactly the same (almost word for word) problems.  Please Apple, keep/regain your good name and sort this out.
    Jayne Connelly

Thanks Bengt W for your attention to this matter.  So much appreciated.  And thanks for putting me right on the aim of forums (new to this).  Although, you may regret asking for more information.  I've added everything I can below.
The process I used is as follows:
Import recorded clips of between 5 and 15minutes each from my video recorder into i
Edit the clips (remove unwanted start and endng)
Add title to front of clips
‘Share’ them to ‘movie’ (export using QuickTime)folder in .mov format individually
Open iDVD and ‘create new project’
Select ‘favourite’ theme that I have set up forall my work dvd’s (this has been used successfully many times and I’ve triedwithout using the favourite them).
Add 2 submenus for each group of clips
Select submenu  - drag and drop between 3 – 6 clips in each of the twosubmenus
    Change title colours on clips
Dragand drop image into drop zones where required
In‘map’ view I check for any yellow warnings before burning to disc
In an attempt to remedy the problems I’ve tried the following:
    Try new DVD discs
Try different themes (favourites and standardones)
    Change images in drop zones
Start whole process again even from importingfrom camera again
Two other completely different computers (iMacand MacBook) with iDVD
Go to apple shop and use their computers to doin iDVD
Try with one clip and no menu pages added
Use a clip that I already have that did notoriginate from my camera
    Turn computer off and restart
    New hard drive
    New optical lense (thing)
    New DVD burner
Saving to disc image rather than dvd disc
    Other points:
I also have a ‘flip’ and ‘iPhone’ whereI’ve imported footage camera which, although limited, records and makes videoclips and burns them to DVD through iDVD without problem.
For example, I have just gone through steps 5 - 11 using some clips that were already imported from my iphone to iPhoto and dragged across.  I used a theme that I've used before which has failed and added one sub menu page where the clip went.  It burned to disc image successfully.
The startup disc, I believe will have no space issues asit’s a new hard drive with no use apart from this.  That could have been an issue before (I didn’t check it) butnot now.
Other technical stuff that I don't understand but you may:

  • Error while rendering menus/slideshows--HELP!!

Ok. I've done my homework on this forum and the Mac help pages and nothing fixes this problem.
Initial issue: I have an iDVD project with pictures in drop zones, audio in the background, two menu pages each with 3-4 movies (both .dv and .mpg4), and a menu page with nothing but background audio and text.
While trying to create a disk image I received the (familiar to this board) error that there was an "Error while rendering menus/slideshows" and that burning was to be aborted.
    What I tried:
I cleared 41 gigs of free space on my boot drive.
I transfered all of my media files onto the boot drive.
I verified and repaired permissions. (until I did these last two items, the program wouldn't just fail, it would crash my computer, giving me the multilanguage *you must restart* greyed out page).
I downloaded the most recent quicktime, iTunes, and Mac OS updates.
I created a new iDVD project with only one video file (sepearately tried just a .dv and .mpg4 file).
I removed all quicktime extensions from my 'library/quicktime' and '~library/quicktime' folders.
I changed from 'higher quality' to 'better performance'.
I told it to process in the background.
I told it to delete the rendered files when it was done.
I ran the apple hardware Test from my Apple CD.
I turned off the hard drive/screen 'sleep' settings.
I switched the video format from NTSC to PAL.
I swore and came up with multiple comically profane file names for the disk images.
Nothing. It always gives the error following the 'processing menus' portion of the rendering.
    Facts:
    iBook G4
    1.2 GHz Power PC
    1.25 GB Ram
41.77 Gigs of free hard drive on boot disk.
    iDVD v5.0.1 (625)
    iMovie HD v5.0.2 (111)
    Quicktime v7.1.5
    Mac OSX v10.4.9
I'm running into a deadline and need to have this burned!!
    *** Mac?
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   1.2 G Ram

I switched the video format from NTSC to PAL.
Why in the world would you do this? You are in the
NTSC area. You must change the NTSC/PAL setting
    BEFORE you start a project.
Mostly because I don't know what it means and wanted to try anything.
All the video and audio is original content.
I ended up going to the Mac genius bar today. They said that it was a corrupted encoding file solved by a reinstall of iDvd. Sounds like a lot of people run into this problem?
On the topic of file formats... do you know why my titles look great in iMovie, but look like crap once I export them? Even if I export at "Full Quality". And is .dv better than .mpg4? I need a good primer.
    thanks,
    Ian
I suspect the problem lies in your mpg-4 content.
iMovie/iDVD have very spotty mpg-4 support. Try
    using something like VisualHub (
    http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/ ) to convert
your mpg-4 files to DV format. (You may also be
having problems with the music used in your menus.
    Where does it come from?)

  • Error with burning slideshow presentation to dvd

i'm currently trying to make a dvd of my many pictures taken from vacation. when i take and export my slideshow from iphoto into idvd i can make all my menus and such just fine. when i got to burn i put my disc in and it renders all my menus and photos and then i always end up with an error at the end. either for the media or multiplexing and what not.
i am using a fairly old powermac..and a 3rd party burner. but the powermac uses the burner just fine for cds and such outta itunes. and the slow speed of the computer doesn't seem to affect it that much just in the time it takes for the whole process.
i've read plenty about making a .img file of the project and then burn that to dvd using toast or disk utility. the only problem with that is that i don't have toast...and disk utility wont allow me to play my dvd in my player...so
i'm curious if my computer is just to slow for this? or if i'm doing something wrong in idvd to make it not work? (i'm a total newbie to making dvds) or if there is some kidna other error? and is there a free alternative to toast?

    Hello Alarkin,
is there a free alternative to toast?
Yes, it's Disk Utility - just follow this procedure:
    1. create the disk image in iDVD
    2. double-click the resulting .img file to "mount" it. Next launch DVD Player to view your DVD .... if everything is fine, close DVD Player and eject the virtual disk.
    3. Open Disk Utility and drag the disk image into the left hand pane, then hit burn.
Note: Set the burn speed to 2x or even 1x. Most burn errors are the result of high burn speeds. Also use only high quality DVD-R media (e.g. Verbatim)
    hope this helps

  • What is error 8971 when saving a slideshow as an MP4 movie?

I'm new to Lightroom 3.  I made a slideshow and followed all the directions in the manual to make the slideshow and save it through export video.  When I went to send it as an email attachment I got an error message it could not open the file because of an error code 8971.  What does that mean?
I also wanted to add some music and selected that option which took me to My Music--the folders were there but the playlists under the album were not so I couldn't select them for my slideshow.  In the tutorial Ms. Kost seemed to have a different box where the music files were that were compatible with Lightroom 3.  I couldn't find those anywhere.  Jeannie 19

    Hi Pete,
Thank you for responding.  I still get the same 8971 error message after downloading the latest Quick Time.  Earlier I had tried installing and reinstalling the whole Lightroom until I heard from you and that didn't work either.  The slideshow plays great in Lightroom.  It is just when I got to export video and it saves it--it looks as though it saves it okay--it just won't play it. But it sounds as though this is the area to focus on.   Jean
