Error in starting Hyperion Reports

Hi
I always have a problem in starting the reports. Most of the times I will get the error Could not connect to GSM server servername:6800 why I am getting this error all the time. What exactly this GSM server do .

Hi,
1) Check whether your BI services started or not
if it is started
2) your configuration has some problem
every Hyperion system has one GSM (Global Service manager)
to know more kindly refer to doc.

In Business One from the main menu go to Administration -> License -> License Administration.
Select the user you wish to connect to the XL reporter.

After going throgh Google search i came to know that it problem with Tomcat CLASS PATH.
I checked C:\Hyperion\HyperionPlanning\AppServer\InstalledApps\Tomcat\5.0.28\HyperionPlanning\bin\startHyperionPlanning.bat.

Where should i set the Tomcat class path to web client. or

JohnGoodwin is correct you will need to create a Planning application and also generate your HspJSHome.properties and make sure it is in the right location to be picked up by the start up which should be something like:
C:\Hyperion\HyperionPlanning\AppServer\InstalledApps\Tomcat\5.0.28\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\WEB-INF\classes
Also if you are starting the JVM as a service it might not have all the correct CLASSPATH information and if you have not already you might try starting the JVM using the startHyperionPlanning.bat file from the command line. Many times you will get better output from that when troubleshooting.

When starting report server in Oracle 10g Reports from command prompt with
rwserver server='server_name' It is flashing a error "'The procedure entry point psoasyn could not be located in the dynamic link library orapls10.dll"

This kind of problems may occur when several Oracle products are installed.
Create a BAT file that will set the PATH variable before calling rwserver.exe
Example :
set ORACLE_HOME=d:\oracle\oas10g
set PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\bin;%ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\jre\bin\client;%ORACLE_HOME%\jlib;%ORACLE_HOME%\jre\1.4.1\bin;%ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\jre\bin\classic;%ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\jre\bin;%ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\bin;

Error message running Hyperion Reports

HELP....I added a new attribute dimension to a database which has a lot of Financial Reports built around it. When the admin runs one of the reports it comes back fine. When a Planning user runs the report in Workspace they receive an error (5200 Error executing query). I believe the Reports isn't letting the Planning user run reports because of the new added attribute dimension. Has anybody seen this before?

If you've added the new dimension within the other dimensions the reports will fail, because when the reports look for certain dimensions, it's based on the order.
So for example, if L000 was 3 and is now 4, the reports will fail. You can't just create a new database connection with the same name as there is actually a unique ID also tied into the data source connection and also the reports.
I can't remember exactly but you might be able to get around the issue by doing the following (it was at least 2 years since I tired this):
- Updating the current data source connection to be a different cube;
- The update the connection to be the original cube with the added dimensions.
I also recollect we had issues with report books when we did this. Let me know if this works. Otherwise you might have to export and import the reports.

Error while running batch in Hyperion Reports

Has anybody run accross this error while trying to run a batch in Hyperion Reports:
Unexpected Error creating query to datasource in createCubeViews:
The book the batch is running is big...

Have you ever successfully scheduled a batch? Make sure the scheduled batch name does not contain an ampersand "&" symbol or an apostrophe/single tick symbol. Those cause batches to error out for us.

You(The user) need to have access permission to read the mesg files. The DBA installing Reports will be able to run the reports.
Grant read access to rwus.msb and rwus.msg files on $ORACLE_HOME/reports/mesg/
Try to run it, should work.

Error 500 Internal Server Error" When Generating Hyperion Financial Reports in PDF Format

We are unable to open pdf reports in Workspace with the following error. It was all working fine and doesn't work now for unknown reasons.

a) the parameter is named DESFORMAT not :DESFORMAT, there is
no : in front of the name, if you submit it via URL !
b) there are some issues with acrobat5 and IE but those are not
only caused by PDFs generated with oracle reports.

User trying to login to via VPN to Hyperion Reports 1.7 from one of our european offices gets follwing message:2005: The system cannot access the Report Server at this time. try again later or confirm the reports server available"1. along with nqsconfig.ini file you need to do the changes in instanceconfig.xml file too see below:
Stop Oracle BI Server and Presentation Services on all nodes except where you are refreshing the user GUIDs. For example:
cd ORACLE_HOME/admin/instancen/bin
./opmnctl stopproc ias-component=coreapplication_obips1./opmnctl stopproc ias-component=coreapplicaiton_obis1
Update the FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS parameter in NQSConfig.INI:
Open NQSConfig.INI for editing at:
ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OracleBIServerComponent/coreapplication_obisn
Locate the FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS parameter and set it to YES, as follows:
FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = YES;
Save and close the file.
Update the Catalog element in instanceconfig.xml:
Open instanceconfig.xml for editing at:
ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/

Locate the Catalog element and update it as follows:

Important: You must perform this step to ensure that your system is secure.
Update the Catalog element in instanceconfig.xml to remove the UpdateAccount GUIDs entry.
Restart the Oracle Business Intelligence system components again using opmnctl:
cd ORACLE_HOME/admin/instancen/bin
./opmnctl stopall
./opmnctl startall

Hyperion Reports - HFMCurrency function error when expanding rows

Im using Hyperion Reports 7.2.On the report in the production environment, Ihave a cell containing a HFMCurrency function with a conditionalformatting: In<<HFMCurrency("Grid1", 5, A, 1)>>Thousands Conditional formatting applied: IF Member NameValue contains Contributions OR IF Member NameValue contains Parent OR IF Member NameValue equals Proportion THEN ReplaceString Value : In USD Thousands The report contains multiple expandable rows. Everytime a row isexpanded it returns this value with an error on the cell containingthe formula: In Error: Unable to get cell valueThousands It's weird because the error on the report does not persist inthe development environment. If you use this function/syntax on the row without expansions does it work? If so, I believe the issue has to do with the syntax. You might need to use the current keyword to make the function dynamic (for example, <<HFMCurrency("Grid1", current,A,1)>>). When you write the formula with a fixed value for rows, it's not dynamic (for the expanded rows). Although, I wouldn't expect you to get an error, just the wrong description. To narrow it down, I would try the function on a row w/o expansions or conditional formatting. Then add expansions. If that works, add back the conditional formatting.
