Error in taking backup of RBS enabled content database!
Hi All,
I have implemented RBS for SharePoint 2013 / SQL Server 2012. While I need to
take backup of RBS enable site collection and I received the following
errors
Site Collection Backup
Current Job Status No operation in progress. Previous Job
Status Failed
Completed 2/15/2015 3:55 AM Duration (hh:mm:ss) 0:00:02
Recovery Step To recover the data, use the PowerShell restore command
Restore-SPSite. For more details, type Restore-SPSite -? at the PowerShell command prompt.
Error Message There was a generic database error. For more information, see the included exception.
I could not find any relevant TechNet or blog post pertaining to this error. SharePoint 2013 gives general
backup and restore strategies.
Q: How could take a backup and restore for RBS enabled content database?
Please suggest how I could achieve this. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Sandy
Hi Sandy,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to backup and restore RBS enabled content database in SharePoint.
If you use the local FILESTREAM provider with RBS, you can use built-in SharePoint tools to back up and restore. These operations back up and restore both the metadata and the BLOB store. If you use the remote RBS provider, you must carefully coordinate
the backup and restore processes.
It is very important to take note of the filestream provider name. Then you can detach database, and copy primary file, log file and BLOB storage folder to new server and attach.
It is also important to remember to enable FILESTREAM on all nodes of the cluster. Without it, SQL query to attach database doesn't work.
Here are some posts, please check if they are useful for you:

Hi
in my sharepoint farm i enabled RBS for a content database
1) I uploaded 4 pdf files to doc librfary, from which 2 fiels are <60 KB
as per this query results these 2 files are not go to RBS file system folder (ex: C:/MywebApp/BLOBFolder)
select * from mssqlrbs_resources.rbs_internal_blob_stores
when i click extended configuration column the xml has below value
<config_item_list>
<config_item key="max_size_inline_blob" value="61140" />
</config_item_list>
but which table the content itself saved for these 2 documents?
when i check the below query the content is showing Null and it has RBSID value, but these 2 files not itself exists in RBS folder
so my question is where these 2 files content saved
adildid you check the all docs table?

Taking Backup of entire proejct contents
Hello,
I have a need to move all my application and it's related project contents and jdeveloper configuraton files from one pc to another.
Can anyone advise what is the best and straightforward way to do this?
Thanks,
RuchirDownload a copy of CVS (it's free - can't get more affordable than that).
Try grabbing a copy of Smart CVS (client):
http://www.syntevo.com/smartcvs/download.html
I think SmartCVS even installs a copy of CVSNT on your Windows machine so you can do your own local source code control (of course that may not be of much help when migrating to another machine).
It's not too bad to build up an old machine with Linux and configure it up to host CVS for yourself (it can be a bit goofy dealing with some of the permissions issues - I haven't found any simple and straightforward instructions that clearly tell you how to do it so it requires a bit of Linux knowledge and fiddling). -
Getting error while taking MAX DB trans log backup.
Hi,
I am getting error while taking trans log backup of Maxdb database for archived log through data protector as below,
[Critical] From: OB2BAR_SAPDBBAR@ttcmaxdb "MAX" Time: 08/19/10 02:10:41
Unable to back up archive logs: no autolog medium found in media list
But i am able to take complete data and incremental backup through data protector.
I have already enabled the autolog for MAX DB database and it is writing that log file directly to HP-UX file system. Now i want to take backup of this archived log backup through data protector i.e. through trans log backup. So that the archived log which is on the file system after trans log backup completed will delete the archived logs in filesystem. So that i don;t have to manually delete the archived logs from file system.
Thanks,
SubbaHi Lars,
Thanks for the reply...
Now i am able to take archive log backup but the problem is i can take only one archive file backup. Not multiple arhive log files generated by autolog at filesystem i.e /sapdb/MAX/saparch.
I have enabled autolog and it is putting auto log file at unix directory i.e. /sapdb/MAX/saparch
And then i am using the DataProtector 6.11 with trans log backup to backup the archived files in /sapdb/MAX/saparch. When i start the trans backup session through data protector it uses the archive stage command as "archive_stage BACKDP-Archive LOGBackup NOVERIFY REMOVE" If /sapdb/MAX/saparch has only one archive file it will backup and remove the file successfully. But if /sapdb/MAX/saparch has multiple archive files it gives an error as below,

Sharepoint 2010 - how to move content database when RBS (remote blob storage) is enabled
Good day.
I have two Sharepoint Server 2010 instances - test and production.
i've turned on RBS(remote blob storage) on test. In future i want to copy content database from prod to test. What should i do, if RBS is not enabled on production?
And second question. After RBS is on, all new files moves to external storage. I want to move to ext storage files, that already exists in my content DB. I found that i need to create second filestreamprovider
and execute Migrate() for new provider. Can i do this for first provider without creating second? Why dont you plan to use Site backup then instead of database backup
In your case you will have to restore the backup to a RBS enabled SQL server. Then remove RBS from that database.

I am getting below error while taking RMAN backup.
Friends,
I am getting below error while taking RMAN backup.
The issue is related with a lock while trying to backup the controlfile.
The lock is more likely caused by the autobackup controlfile process started just before RMAN process was also trying the backup controlfile as shown in the following alert.log excerpt.
Starting Control File and SPFILE Autobackup at 2009-04-07 09:24:58

Is there anyway to solve this issue? Thanks in advance.Hi,

WHERE l.sid = s.sid and l.type = 'CF' AND l.id1 = 0 and l.id2 = 2; 2 3

Oracle version : 10.2.0.3
I am getting this error once in a month not everyday.

We are able to take offline, online backups but we are facing the above mentioned problem while taking archive log backup
We are on ECC 6 / Oracle / AIX
The kernel is latest
The drive is working fine and there is no problem with the tapes as we have tried using diffrent tapes
can this be a permissions issue?
I ran saproot.sh but somehow it is setting owner as sidadm and group as sapsys to some of the br* files
I tried by changing the permissions to oraSID : dba but still the error is the same
Any suggestions?Means you have not initialized the medias but trying to take backups.
First check how many medias you have entered in your tape count parameter for archive log backups (just go to initSID.sap and check)
Then increase/reduce them to according to your archive backup plan >> Initialize all the tapes according to their name (same as you have initialized in initSID.sap) >> stick physical label to all the medias according to name >> Schedule archive backups
It will not ask you for initialization as already you have initialized in second step.
Suggestion: Use 7 medias per week (one tape per day)

SharePoint 2013, SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enable RBS for Additional Content Databases
We Enabled RBS in our SharePoint 2013 Environment recently. The time when we Configuring we had only one Content Database and we successfully configured. now we created more web applications and we need to enable RBS for newly created Content Databases.
we searched and tried lots of approaches, but we cudn't manage to achieve this. can anyone help us to enable RBS on additional Content Databases. (No offense but direct instructions would be great rather than providing links).
Thank you! Here is step by step instruction with screenshot
http://thesharepointfarm.com/2011/03/enabling-rbs-on-multiple-content-databases/
Try to run
run this command on the SharePoint server: msiexec /qn /i rbs.msi REMOTEBLOBENABLE=1 FILESTREAMPROVIDERENABLE=1 DBNAME=”WSS_Second” FILESTREAMSTORENAME=FilestreamProvider_1 ADDLOCAL=EnableRBS,FilestreamRunScript DBINSTANCE=”DBServer”
Thank you so much for the reply Indrajeet. we followed the instruction to the letter but when we try the command, it failed. while doing some search, we came across an interesting Article.
