Hi Pradipta,
If you are referring to Guided Procedures as the "Process Layer", then you have one of the three options that I can think of:
1) Deliver the GP processes via UWL in CE Portal
2) Deliver the GP processes via UWL in EP (if your organization has one)
3) Delvier the GP processes via GP Runtime in CE Portal
Of the three mentioned above, option 2 is preferred since your business users get to access their tasks via a single interface. But you need a EP. If that's not the case, I would suggest Option 1. For integrating GP and UWL, please refer to following link.

In PI Post Installation error in template installer

When i run the template installer it shows the following error
The process errors out on configure the role of Integration service - error max no of 100 conversation exceeded. SXMB_SET_ROLE_TO_IS AbapConfigurationWriter FAILED.

The error says "max no of 100 conversations exceeded". that means more than 100 users are accessing the R/3 system simultaneously and the SSO is configured only for maximum of 100.
Refer SAP notes: 316877, 314530
For this CPIC is an OS environment variable and you should change this on the server side. You can increase the default value for CPIC_MAX_CONV (see note 314530).

SSO between Portal Application and Portal Admin Tool

Hi All,
We have a requirement for implementing SSO between a Portal application and
Portal admin tool.
We are using WL Portal 8.1 SP4.
Here is the reason for this requirement -
A user logged-into Portal Application needs to login to Portal Admin tool to
do some admin activity. We want to provide a link in the portal application
using which the user can directly login to the Portal Admin tool without
having to enter the credentials again.
If someone has any info on how to implement this, can you please point me in
the right direction.

Hi,
When creating PP you have 2 options
PP used for compiling and PP used for Building
You create PP with all the libraries into Developing/Compiling Other DCs
And another PP with all the libraries into can be packaged into other build results (SDAs).
Once you have these 2 PP in place you add the DC as used DC.
And this should resolve the issue.

Error 2032 in communication between Flex Client and WCF

Hi All,
I'm trying to establish communication between Flex Client
and WCF service.
WCF service accepts gZip compressed data and returns gZip
compressed results.
So I used Flex ByteArray.compress() and
ByteArray.uncompress() for this purpose. However, it throws error
2032.
The gZip compression/decompression uses MemoryStream class in
C#. Based on my previous experience, memory stream communication
between Flex and C# gives erro 2032.
Is there a work around for this?

I read some thread in the forum, and found somebody had the similar problem with me. Just want to know how to settle this problem.
In the client/server program. Client is a JAVA program and Server a
VC++ program. The connection works, and the problem appears after some time. The Client sends a lots of requests to Serverm, the server seems receive nothing. But at the same time, the server is able to send messages to Client. The Client also can get the messages and handle them. Don't understand why there this problem and why it appears when it wants.
The client is a Win2k platorm with JDK1.3.1 and the server is also a Win2K platform with VC++ 6.0.
In the Client, using:
inputFromServer = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream()));
outputToServer = new PrintWriter(new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(socket.getOutputStream())),true);

Difference between portal component and portal service?

         I worked on portal components but not on portal services... Would anybody tell the difference between the portal components and portal services...? What is a portal service..?
           How we know which one to choose in the scenario.?

A portal component is custom Java code that is executed according to user requests, and generates HTML output for display on the client.
Portal components:
Page builder, which assembles pages
Admin tools, such as logger, which is comprised of user interface messages.
Pages
Technically, the page is also an iView. A page includes iViews or pages (nested) and Layout components
iViews
There are two different isolation levels (iView types)
Embedded: iViews html is embedded as part of page html. iViews are called synchronically on the server, and retrieved in one response, to the client (this is the page response).. Each iView reloading reloads all iViews on page.
URL (Isolated): iViews are fetched by an IFRAME element in an own request. One response for the page followed by additional request-response for each iView (depending on browser 2-4 requests simultaneously).
Portal Services:
A portal service is a component that offers a globally accessible function in the portal.
A portal service act as the middleware, that is, interfaces that are enabled to exchange procedures and data. They offer functionality to portal components, and other services.
There are two groups of portal services:
Portal services (part of the PRT)
Caching
Notification
iView service
Application Repository
System Landscape
Role, pages, worksets
Web Services
Unification service

Problem: Hotsync error message "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be establisthed."

When I Hotsync Bluetooth connection is successful, then in step 2, "Connecting with the desktop" Hotsync errors out with message "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be establisthed. Please check your setup and try again."
Bluetooth configuration inticates Bluetooth serial port COM Port is set to COM3
Hotsync setup: when I click "Local" tab I get error message "The selected port, COM5, is not available at this time. HotSync Manager will open the port when it becomes available."
Hotsync setup > "Local" tab > Serial Port dropdown shows only COM4. I cannot change it to anything else.
Note: I can send files to PC using Bluetooth just fine; error only occurs when I Hotsync using Bluetooth connection.
Tried rebooting both laptop and Palm TX. Still can't Hotsync.

You are not the only one having this problem. I have REPEATEDLY tried to bluetooth sync with my new toshiba windows 7
Palm 6.2.2 to no avail. I have tried every bluetooth device they suggest and every "fix" or "solution" that has been offered here and in on line chat with a Palm tech. No dice! I even took my computer and all components to a tech. He worked on it for 5 hours. Every once in a while for no apparent reason it will magically sync, but never consistently. Using 32bit on my husband's computer with Vista, and the docking cradle still works so I have my data. A few others have apparently had success with this problem but I think it is an accident that it works for them when it does. Otherwise it would work for everyone. We have read everything we can find and spent literally hours and hours and hours.
I am now in the process of trying to import/export to Outlook and plan to upgrade to another device like iPhone or blackberry that will sync data with Outlook. My Palm TX also has not been able to successfully sync with that although, as I said earlier, it syncs with Palm Desktop. Good luck with your's.

Difference between Portal Transport and Basis Transport

I have few questions .
1. What's the difference between transport in portal and transport in Basis.
2 . In user admin , we create users and assign them roles. Even Basis people will create
new userids and assign them roles. Whats the difference between these two.
3. In useradmin whats the difference between assigned roles and assigned groups.

I don't see any differnece in portal and basis transport
Content transport generally done from one landscape to other landscape. say from dev to test system
or test to production system.
we create user id using user admin role in portal ume or we can get users externally by using LDAP funtionality.
Using user admin role we can assingn users to rolese and groups.
Groups are used for a group of users. IF certain users have similar authorizations in portal then we group them in single user group and then assing this group to the roles. This is called authorization.
Role is used to display the portal content to the users and is the top level navigation in portal.
If I miss anything at basis level then someone can help you.

I have installed the SAP Netweaver 2004s with ABAP and JAVA environment.
I have the portal up and running on.
Now when i see the users form portal i can see both the UME and ABAP users.
My questions are as follows:
a)Are this ABAP users shown in portal same as SAP R/3 user.
b)Which property of the ABAP users shown in portal mapped to R/3 user.
c)What is the query to see all the users in the Portal database for ABAP + JAVA system

My observation was as follows:
A)
I created the Portal User(ABAP + JAVA) using the UME API's.
I set the setTilte("Mr") and setSalutation("Dr.) property.
The user got created .Innthe Portal we cannot notice the setTilte and setSalutation property so i used the SAP GUI to check it.
In the SAP GUI i could see the changes are reflected for Tilte and Academic Titlt.
B)
Now i changed the property setSalutation to "MBA" and saved the user using the ABAP GUI.
Now i used the UME API to query the getTilte() and getSAlutaion()
But unfortunately this changes were not shown .
Now i bit confused.
Whether this both(portal ABAP) and R/3 are stored in differnet database.
or it is that i have to restart the server to bring it in sync

Error while configuring SSO between Portal 7.0 and Operating System.

Dear all,
I am having an issue,i need to configure SSO between the Portal 7.0 and operating System.I have followed both the Kerberos as well as spNego wizard methods,but i am not able to configure UME settings as we are using datasourceConfiguration_abap.xml. I tried to edit the datasource confuiguration file but after editing the server is not starting.
Please let me know the steps i have to do to edit the datasourceConfiguration_abap.xml
We are not able to Map the Service USer to the UME CONFIGURATION XML File.

Error in the installation of portal when upgraded to SP14

Hi All,
I have installed SR1 (WAS,Portaland KM)and everything was working fine.
Then i tried to upgrade my server to SP14 and i have successfully upgraded WAS and portal to SP14 and it was working fine. But once i tried upgrading the KM it is throwing one error "portal not found".When i checked for the version in Support Desk, it was showing me versions for WAS and portal, but not of KM. And my Content Management is working properly.
My OS is AIX 5.3
do help me. Its urgent

I can not see any SDM processes running at this stage.

Error in material mapping between R/3 and CRM

Dear community,
In our landscape we have a SAP CRM system (Release 4, SP10) and a SAP R/3 system (Release 6.20). We try to create a mapping for a standard R/3 field, from the material master with a custom defined attribe on the CRM.
The material field is the Old Material Number (MARA-BISMT) which exist on the standard sap interface. When we try to change or create a material then an error occured on the BDocs with the following error messages :
1. Change data on set ZPRODUCT_INFO in the original system CRTCLNT400
2. Validation error occurred: Module COM_PRODUCT_MAT_VALIDATE, BDoc type PRODUCT_MAT.
The development that have been made is based on known SAP guide with title "CRM Products: Customer Enhancements for Downloading and Uploading Product Master Data".
Does anyone know how we can solve the problem ?

How to easily migrate my installation between vm/raspberrypi/and more

Hello,
Some quick background: I have a x86_64 VM at the moment that has certain services running like znc, nginx, transmission, a git server, ssh, dhcpd and some other minor stuff configured over time. It's mostly for personal usage.
At some time in the near future this VM will expire and I will have to transfer all that to either my raspberry pi or a similar mini pc running arch linux.
I've already done this migration once or twice and each time I had to reinstall all the necessary packages, users, general configurations, service configurations and home dirs. It's a slow process and even with a script that automates a part of this it needs some manual configuration changes after that depending on architecture etc. I usually follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mi … installing to migrate packages etc but because the arm repo is different and some names differ there I also have to change stuff manually and check everything again.
I need a quicker and more flexible solution to be able to just setup the services quickly on a given host running arch.
I could just setup everything in a VM and then run the VM on any given hardware at a time but for mini pcs like raspberry or odroid running a whole virtual machine is just too resource exhausting.
I checked docker some while back and it's more or less what I need and provides easy deployment but writing the docker scripts that will handle the configurations is a new hassle by itself. And there are times where I want to add new services which means that I will have to rewrite a docker script each time. Also when packages for these services are updated in the arch installation I'm not sure if it's going to be so easy to update them inside the docker containers as well.
Is there anything else I could do to make this installation migration easier across any platform? Or at least a docker-like way that would be much easier to setup?

Because of the architecture difference there's no quick and painless way to do this. There are two options I can think of:
- You can save your various configurations you need, make a list of installed packages, install a new system and copy the configs over.
- You can set up a thin KVM/QEMU virtual machine atop the native system installed on the RasPi. I've never tried any such thing myself, but the wiki pages should point you in the right direction.
Exactly which one presents the least hassle is really a matter of whatever you're comfortable with.

Mapping between portal user and business partner

I would like to store data of portal users using a business partner in an ERP system. How to map a portal user to a business partner? My idea was to store the business partner ID in a field of the portal user. But there is no such field.

Hi Felix,
user mapping involves creation of a system object and the corresponding system alias, and then assigning this system alias to the user( this is what is called user mapping in this context). and then you create a corresponding iView for the same and assign this iView to a role where the user is already having this role.
This is the common steps for user mapping when connecting with external landscapes. I hope the partner mentioned is a specific type
