Application error while generating PDF form

Hello there,
I am getting the message "Application error while generating PDF form" and when you hover it has additional information Message Class HREIC_APPL - Message number 258.
I get this upon doing the following steps:
1. Enter SAP R3, enter HREIC on the transaction code input.
2. Enter EIC, Activity Search. Searched for an Activity, selected it and click the "PRINT" button.
3. After clicking the PRINT button, I get the error message "Application error while generating PDF form".
Installed this on development box, did the same configuration in test system, but still I get this error. ADS Configuration is working fine and configured fine.
Is there anything else that is needed to be checked? like Ports, Firewalls, etc?

Error in Email PDF of purchase order

In the purchase order, we have set up a message(output) type as
external send for sending the email to the buyer. It has been working
good for the past 1 year and suddenly for the past few weeks we started
noticing errors.
The error is that we cannot see any data in one of the pages of the PO
output(PDF attachment). For example, if a PO has 5 pages, the 2nd page
will be blank and all the other pages would have come out fine. This
does not happen in every PO and also it is not the same page which is
missing in all the error PO PDFs. But when we print the output with
the Print medium it always looks fine. Both uses the same smartform
and the program.
Even in the same PO, the first time they email it does not work
correctly and if they repeat the output after a few minutes all pages
look fine.
This error happens sporadically and it does not have any connection
with the number of pages a PO prints or it is not the same page that is
missing always. I beleive it does not have anything to do with the
special characters in the PO. The language we are trying to print is
English.
We use CONVERT_OTF function module to convert from OTF to PDF. This
was working good always before and suddenly we see problems every now
and then. I will also attach a screen shot of the error when the PDF
is opened(this shows a page in PO which is blank & error of PDF). Can
you please look into this and direct us in the right path
to solve the issue?

Hi,
As mentioned the pdf missing page error is sporadic, I would recommend you to check the following:
1. Add a delay 'WAIT' Function Module before 'CONVERT_OTF'. Maybe, due to some change in hardware, patch upgrade or increased user load, the pdf is not getting generated the first time. Hence, it works fine the next time.
2. Ask your BASIS Team to monitor the dialog processes when you run this activity. You can also use SQL Trace to get any leads with reference to bandwidth issues.

BPM Collect Scenario errors at transform stage

The BPM Collect scenario is using a Fork within a Block.
Branch 1 - Loop Receive Append Container Endloop
Branch 2 - Receive step of triggerIdoc
End of Block
Transform step - multiline container of XML documents to one XML document
Send step
BPM Errors at Transform step with JCo mapping not available.
Whilst BPM in Error (Workflow in Error) more messages being received but never processed as the RECEIVE event is "lost" for these messages.
We are looking at redesigning the BPM to reduce the likelihood of this transform error.
In the meantime was looking at ways to Alert the administrator straight away to the error. As we have a workaround to get the process going and to pick up the stranded messages. So have started setting up the ALERT categories as described in How to Guide, for Adapter and Interface. Will this work?
Also in the Transform step there is a box (system exception) but I can't enter anything in. Is there a way to do this if the Alert category doesn't report an error in the BPM. OR do I have to add the Transform step into a Block of its own?
Advice gratefully received if we come up with a working solution will post it out here. Have spent a large amount of time reading posts and blogs on here but have not got a clear picture yet of what is best to do.

This should give you an issue called Parked Messages. The best way to deal with this is to actually define a Local Correlation. In the Block Step properties, you will have an option, Use Correlation --> Give the name of the Correlation . This will make sure that when there is an error, the Correlation become inactiva and a new BPM instance is created.

Not sure if this will work. The issue is that the messages are passed to the IE already and will be in wait step waiting for an active BPM 's receive step How will another interface pick up this message?

This is what is called exception handler. Defined a Exception handler for the Block. Right Click block, insert Exception Branch, give name of the Hanler and then you can select this in the Transformation Step's System Error. This is like Try - Catch of Java.

Trying to use the transform process activity - flow with 2 invokes

I want to transform incoming data with a transform "Process Activity" and write this transformed data out to two files. What I have tried to do is to transform the incoming data and then send the transformed variable into a flow with two invoke "Process Activities" which in turn use two "File Adapter" services to write to two separate output files. When I attempt to deploy this I get a complaint that I cannot use a single variable to feed both invoke "Process Activities" because of name space conflicts. Does anyone know how I could do this transformation without having to write a transformation for each invoke? It seems like it should be possible to simply write one transformation for multiple invoke operations. However, perhaps there is a completely different way to do what I am trying to do. I am fairly new to using BPEL and the Oracle SOA Suite. Thanks much!

[Potential fix]: make sure the correct variable is used in invoke.
I believe it is a problem with name spaces. I could change the name space prefixes, but that causes other errors. I am using JDeveloper to create this BPEL process flow using their predefined graphic "Process Activities" and "Services". FYI, I haven't gotten too much into writing the xml from scratch as I would think that the tool should be flexible enough to create this simple process flow.

Internal error while transforming bpmn to bpel

Hi,
i designed a simple bpmn model and i’ve got an error while transforming the model into a bpel process.
Steps i’ve done:
1.     SOA > Transform business process into bpel process
2.     the following semantic check was ok and there were no errors listed
3.     I selected the check box “create log file”
4.     Then an error occurs: “Unable to perform transformation. Internal error: There are semantic errors in this model. The errors have been displayed on the model”
5.     After clicking OK, the log file appears: -- WARNINGS --: W#17 : Warning: in the current model, some functions are not connected to services.”
6.     in the bpmn model there are two objects marked with a red line: an automated activity and a XOR gateway (data-based).
I don’t know what’s wrong with these objects. I checked the properties of the automated activity, but “Abstract BPEL activity” is selected and so I don’t understand what the problem is.
Are there dependencies, I don’t see? The assignments of both objects are correct. Are there other requirements i have to consider?
Previous to the automated activity there’s another XOR gateway (data-based) with three branches (one of them is the obviously incorrect activity) and all three branches meet in the red marked XOR gateway.
Any idea?

Hi Julika,
The error message might not be related to the activities itself. I assume your model is not well structured. Consider that the following points aren't disregarded:
* Never "jump" out of a particular branch into a different part of the model or into another branch
* All functions/events have only one incoming/outgoing connection
* Process parallel flows should be specified by splitting and joining AND/XOR rules, or they should contain either one splitting AND/XOR rule only for which there is no other connection between their paths, or one joining AND/XOR rule only that is met by all connections.

I had to reinstall Adobe Digital Editions after a hardware failure. Now I get this message. I can't read any of my purchased PDF books. I hate Digital Editions. Hateithateithateit. Can't escape it however. Too bad there isn't a better alternative product out there.
Does anybody know what in the world this error message means and how it can be fixed?

Also it's worth checking your firewall isn't blocking visits to the activation server at http://adeactivate.adobe.com. If you can see a 'Welcome to Digital Editions' message then your firewall allows access.
There may also be more information in your firewall logs.

"Error while generating pdf" error come when clicking on "Print Version "

Hello ,
When we execute Query in the Portal there is a 'Print version' button.
When you select it, it opens up print dialog and click OK
It is supposed to send 'pdf' stream to Web browser client on end user but it is not able to generate the pdf .

I am working on BI 7.0 .
The same is running fine in the Q Environment .But in Production we are getting this error .

I think this is an ADS error. This is a reason why pdf's are not working. We had the same issue.

Error while generating PDF in portal but not in WAD

Hi,
When I execute the command to export to pdf, I have a screen to fill settings of my pdf, then I valid my choice and I have this message : "Error while generating PDF" in my portal.
However, when I want to execute on Web Application Designer and click on my command "export to pdf", I have a same screen and I can open or save my document.
Is someone have an idea : why it is possible to generate my pdf on WAD but not in my portal ??

I have done the ADS configuration setup and checked all configuration settings.It seems everything is working fine but when i select the option "Print Verison" ( I have executed a query using the query designer) i am getting above error.
FYI: Its a BI 700 system and we are at Suport pack10 level (both ABAP+Java). By the way i should let you know that it is a copy of Production.

I have executed the test report FP_TEST_00 and i got a form containing several lines on two pages.I have checked all the configuration checks and got the correct results as mentioned in the ADS document. But when i try to print a query using the query analyzer,i am getting that PDF error. I have no issues with my other BI 700 system.

I know that the ADS service is configured correctly- The webservice test is successful and other applications (Guided Procedures, MSS) also use it successfully.

Most possible causes for encountering this issue are:
Possible cause:
- The ADS is installed on a plattform, that is currently not supported by SAP for ADS. Please check the avaliablity at: Product Availability Matrix
- Mixing of different Netweaver releases (NW04 and NW04s) -> This is unfortunatelly not possibble the J2EE engine release has to match with the ABAP stack release in order connect them properly.
- The ADS SP level does not match the J2EE engine SP level. -> Please update the software components to have the same support package level.

Error message: Missing PDF maker files in Word 2007

OK, I am beyond frustrated. I have had nothing but trouble with Windows Vista and Adobe Acrobat. Please help!!!
What happens: first, the pdf addin for Word 2007 suddenly becomes disabled, for no apparent reason. Forget about trying to re-enable it through the Add-Ins menu, because Word tells me that the "connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed". This is a problem for me, because I use a special font (Vietnamese) that sometimes gets corrupted when running pdf maker. The only consistent way I have found to avoid this problem is to run the pdf maker as "Quick PDF" and as far as I can see that option is only available through the pdf addin in Word, I have never been able to find it when I open the Acrobat program and create a pdf from there.
Second problem: shortly after the pdf addin becomes disabled, my Acrobat program loses the ability to create pdfs altogether. I get the error message "Missing PDF maker files". Yes, I have tried repairing the installation and re-starting my computer per the instructions given. It doesn't fix the problem. I also tried looking in the Knowledge Database on this website, but it appears that the instructions they have to fix the problem there are for earlier versions of Word, not 2007, because my version of word does not look like the version of Word in their little videos.
This is the second time this has happened. The first time I resolved the problem by a) re-installing Acrobat, which is a pain because it involves calling Adobe and wading through their customer service to get a new installation number, and b) paying a computer repair service to dig deep into the guts of my computer and convince it to change the Office Add-ins to allow the pdf addin again. It worked for about 6 months, and now I have the same problem again. For some reason Vista is spontaneously disabling Acrobat.
I simply cannot deal with this every few months. We all know that Vista is a crappy program, but I run a business and I need a program that works with whatever crappy program Microsoft puts out. Please, can anyone give me suggestions about how to re-enable these functions when Vista disables them?
