Error in Turning on Genius

I have been using iTunes on my Macbook for the last 1.5 years.
Every time I try to turn on Genius, I get the following error message:
"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later."
Initially I thought that there could be a technical difficulty, but the error message is consistent.
Please help me resolve this.

right after genius finishes the first step (gathering information) and starts sending my information to apple the following error messageshows up;
genius cant be updated... an unknown error has occured.

i tried ;
-wait and try again (for 4 months now)
-deleting cookies
-deleting plist files
-deleting genius file
-apple "geniuses" at the genius bar in zurich didnt know what to do.
-apple europe support has never heard of this error..
i created a new library and there it works fine. so it cant be my network or something. the error must be somewhere in my music or my library file.
anyone?
btw: i have 55k songs. all covered, rated and many intelligent playlists.
so deleting and re-adding the music (loosing library information) is not an option.

TS1702 an unknown error has occurred when trying to update PicStitch and turn on Genius for Apps on iPad

When trying to update iPad I keep getting a message "an unknown error has occurred. Also get this message when I tried to turn on Genius for Apps. And App Store is asking me for my password 3 - 4 times in a row and I am typing it correctly! This is also happening on my iPhone 3GS!

Were you able to find a solution to this issue? I am also getting the 'an error has occurred' message when trying to download or update any apps on my iPhone. Restarted, updated, re-booted, etc etc, nothing has worked.

ITunes 9: Turning on Genius, getting "Error -9810"

When I try to turn on Genius in iTunes 9, I log with my .mac address, I accept the terms, and it gathers info (step 1). But it fails on sending info to Apple (step 2) with an "error -9810".

I've tried the delete cookies, etc. but no luck. I'm using 10.6. Any ideas?

Ok this has now been resolved but not through any tweaks suggested on here.
It wasn't a problem with my computer, nor my settings, nor apple, and most importantly - it wasn't me!
I just got a new tv package, including broadband from a different provider. The matter has now completely resolved itself and i have full access to Genius. So in my case, it was definitely to do with my broadband/ISP provider - you wouldn't BElieve who it was...
I had challenged them about this, but they said it was not an issue with them.

ITunes 9 crashes trying to sign in to store to turn on genius

I recently turned off Genius with the intention of turning on again in order to 'kickstart' the Genius Mix playlists.
When I attempt to turn Genius back on now, it takes me to a sign in page where I enter my Apple ID and password. I click 'continue' and the status says accessing itunes store and then crashes.
I guess the answer will be to unistall and reinstall iTunes 9... unless anyone out there has a suggestion.

nope. unistalled and reinstalled. iTunes still exits (windows error message: iTunes has encountered problems and needs to close) after clicking continue.
can someone please respond?
is this tied in to all the other iTunes 9 crashing? has anyone figured out a way to stop it?

I have this issue too. When I attempt to activate genius in iTunes, it first asks for my Apple ID, which I enter and then click on the 'continue' button at the bottom right, but then I get a 'red' error message in the upper left of the form saying, "You must complete the entire form." But there are no other fields in form in which to enter additional info. So, I can't proceed to activate Genius on my iPhone. Yuk. My iTunes is on a Windows 8 desktop.

FWIW, I just got off the phone with Apple technical support about this. I use Genuis for creating playlists, so I don't want to disable it, but Apple support confirmed that there is no way to avoid syncing Genius data without disabling Genius altogether. I'd read somewhere else that subscribing to iTunes Match might allow you to avoid this, but that is NOT the case, as I've confirmed, and Apple support has confirmed. For me, it routinely syncs thousands genius of items, so I have to allow a lot of time for my manual syncs.

I have Genius playlists on my ipad2 that I do not want. I would like to get rid of all Genius suggestions and have viewed many suggestions; one being to go to the store tab and click turn off genius. This option is not available it only gives the option 'Update Genius'. I recently joined itunes Match and this seems to automatically think that you want to have Genius. In reply to Peter2300's problem of not being able to delete Genius Playlists on the ipdad. I had this same problem on my ipad2 and my son's ipad mini. In both our cases we had a number of extra Genius Playlists and most of these had no songs in them. We couldn't delete them the normal way by just holding down on them until the little X appeared. We both solved it the same way. On my iPad when I "tap" on the Genius playlist I want to delete, it switches to the screen showing the individual songs in the Genius list (even if it's just a blank playlist), and there is a "save" button near the upper right of the screen. I pressed the Save button and then hit the button on the upper left to return to the list of Playlists. After doing this, the last Genius Playlist displayed could then be deleted the normal way by pressing on it and waiting for the X. I had to repeat this process for each extra Genius playlist I wanted to get rid of (which was all of them b/c on mine they were all blanks). I just repeated the process of viewing each playlist, saving it, going back to the list of Playlists and then deleting the one that appeared last on the screen. So far these Genious Playlists have not returned. Hope this helps.

Turned off Genius, how do I restore Genius playlists from ipod to my iTunes

I turned off Genius in iTunes by accident and my Genius playlists have been deleted. They are still on my iPod. I'd like to know if they will automatically sync back to iTunes when I connect my iPod or have I lost them for good?

How can I turn off genius in iTunes 10.5.3 (3)

How can I turn off Genius in iTunes 10.5.3 under Lion 10.7.3 (other than disconnecting from the internet). It is no longer an option in the Store menu and although I can hide that playlist on the left through parental controls, the atom symbol is still present in the lower right of the window available to generate a list from a selected song. Thank you.

I have the option to turn it off. What version of iTunes are you using? I have the latest iTunes. Have you tried signing out of the store?

Officejet Pro 8625 Printer Error Please turn printer off, then on

Upon power up and connection to wiFi all appeares to be functioning properly. Can even e-print. All is still well when printer goes to sleep (will wake-up and e-print). After about 10-15 minutes will get a white screen with an message "Printer error Please turn printer off, then on" all other lights are flashing including power button. I have tried updating windows and print drivers. This first happened about two weeks ago. After updating print drivers all appeared to be well until three or four days ago then it has all started again. HELP PLEASE

I can't turn on Genius

Every time I try to turn on Genius it asks me to create an Apple ID, even if I'm already logged on with my Apple ID.

Ok, I just found out a solution. It's working so far. If anyone is having the same problem, here's the solution.
1. Go to the iTunes store.
2. Under "QUICK LINKS" click "Account" and sign in.
3. Find "Recommendations & Ping Posting" and click "Manage"
4. Click "Turn on Genius"
Hope it works. It's definitely let me get farther than I've gotten before.

Trying to turn on genius

So I got a new laptop a few months ago to Windows 7 and ever since I have been trying to update the software and am not able to turn on genius. On my last laptop I had windows xp and had no problems. But now with windows 7, everytime I try to begin to turn on genius, a dialogue pops up and says that 'itunes has stopped working.' any one have any suggestions??

Try closing all other apps and doing it again. You also might try installing itunes again.

I can't turn off Genius!

I just can't turn off Genius. I have signed out of the store, I do not use Match so it is not turned on. Turn Off Genius is grayed out.

If the phone does not show up in the device list in iTunes on your computer, you can't back it up anymore.
If your phone is set to back up to iCloud, at least your contact info and photos should have been backed up, if you selected those items to be included in the backup.
Did you try to connect in recovery mode?

Turning Off Genius in iTunes 10.4

How does one turn off the "Genius" when the Turn Off Genius is greyed out in the Store Menu. I have 42,000+ tunes & I don't think it will finish whatever it is doing for the next couple of hours.

I turned on Genius, but my iPod is telling me it needs to be turned on

I turned on Genius about a week ago, it has been working on my iPad since. However, when I used my Nano 5, it said I needed to turn it on. I've synced it to iTunes twice, updated genius, turned genius off then back on, and it still says it. Any ideas what the problem could be?

There is the Genius feature in iTunes. On your iPod, it has Genius Mixes.
You need to turn ON Genius in iTunes, as you have done already. Then, in iTunes, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, go to the Music tab. If you are not syncing your entire music library to your iPod, look under Playlists. Check Genius Mixes, and at least one "mix" indented below.
When you sync, the selected mixes should be available when you select Genius Mixes on the iPod.
