Error Installating Lync Client 2013 Basic 32-bit

Hi,
We're implementing Lync in our office and have already deployed a server and working with a few pilot users.
one of the users, I've tried installing Lync Basic Client (32bit), always gives an error.
During installation, it would stop in the middle and would say that it would need to restart. We're already restarted twice and yet same error occurs.
The desktop is a Windows 8 machine with Office 2010 installed.
Any help?
Regards
Eisen

What is the error did you get?
On Windows 8 computer, I installed Office 2010 and Lync Basic client (32 bit).
I didn’t have the same problem.
Please try to uninstall Office 2010 first and install Lync Basic client.

  • Trying to install Visio Professional 2013 on 64 bit machine but install says I have 32 bit office

I am Trying to install Visio Professional 2013 on 64 bit machine but when I try to install it says I have 32 bit office already installed.  How do I know if I have 32 bit Office installed, and if so how do I change it to 64 bit.
And how do I install 64 bit Visio ?

I believe for most users the 32-bit version of Office is recommended due to compatibility issues (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/choose-the-32-bit-or-64-bit-version-of-office-HA010369476.aspx) so that is likely the version you have.
If you only have the install media for 64-bit Visio then you may want to see what you can do to exchange it for 32-bit if possible - the only option for creating a 64-bit version of Office is to uninstall the 32-bit and install 64-bit separately.
(You can tell quickly if your current Office is 32- or 64-bit by looking at the directory it is installed in - 64-bit programs get installed in "c:\Program Files" while 32-bit programs get installed in "c:\Program Files (x86)"
    Good luck!

  • Disable auto sign in at start-up for Lync client 2013

    Hi,
I want to stop the Lync client from signing in automatically at start-up.
Is there a way to do so?
We are using Lync client 2013.
    Thanks in advance

Not as far as I am aware (at least on a PC that the user is logged onto their domain account with) . The only option you have is to stop the Lync client from starting up with Windows (see here - explains both options dialog and reg key http://blogs.technet.com/b/rischwen/archive/2013/06/20/lync-2013-client-auto-start-registry-key.aspx)
If it's a shared PC, you can try this: http://allunifiedcom.wordpress.com/2012/04/12/prevent-lync-from-auto-saving-of-credentials-e-g-multi-user-pc/

  • Lync Client 2013 64bit instantly crashes before sign-on || Office 2013 ProPlus 64bit & Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64bit

I have a problem with my Lync Client. It simply crashes before the sing-on with following error appearing in application log:
Faulting application name: lync.exe, version: 15.0.4623.1000, time stamp: 0x53728995

As the faulting module path is not pointing to a conflicting Bluetooth driver or anything, how to troubleshoot what software is conflicting this?
Needless to say I've done all basic steps; reinstalling the office, updating with all the latest Office & Windows patces, repairing it, tried it with another / empty user account, etc. This is a new machine with clean Windows installation without OEM
crippleware. Before I just uninstall everything but Office from this machine, how do I point a problem resulting a kernelbase.dll faulting?
Only clients "Starting..." screen is showing before the crash.

Please check if Word, Excel work correctly.
Check if Lync 2013 works on other computer installed using the same installation media.

  • Problem Installing Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit on Windows 7 Enterprise 64

    Hi,
I am having problems installing the Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit installation on my Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise machine. The installer does all the checks successfully, it gets me to summary screen and I press finish to start the installation. It then opens the installation mask where it first says Checking whether Central Inventory is locked by another OUI session. After that it very briefly shows Central Inventory is not locked and then the window immediately dissapears with no other errors. I tried installing at my colleague's W7 Enterprise 64 machine and it behaves a little differently but with the same result. Basically on his machine it never even opens the Install mask, when pressing finish from the Summary it just disappears and never starts installation. I tried installing 11g R1 and that loads the first mask and when i press next it just dissapears. I basically need an oracle client 64 bit installation on my machine deperately. Please help. Thanks
    Alex

One user above reported installing the 64 bit odbc drivers and then the 32 bit drivers. How did you do that? I'm a neophyte to this.
I'm trying to get a 32 bit ODBC oracle driver to work on a server 2008 R2 machine. I downloaded the 11gR2 x64 client from oracle. The install process makes no mention of 32bit vs 64bit installation. After running the instalation I can run the ODBC administrator and generate a DSN for oracle. When I run the 32 ODBC administrator there is no oracle driver available except the microsoft driver for oracle. When I select that it says that I need to install oracle.
I had at first tried to install 11g instant client. However that didn't work for the 2008 R2 machine. It complained about some registry error when I tried to run the ODBC install program. I need to get it to work for a customer asap.

  • Lync Client 2013 not Signing in, But Lync 2010 Do Sign In

    Dears,
I have a weird problem, I have installed Lync 2013 FE Server, after I finished installing it I tried to test the log in with the Lync 2013 client, it asked for authentication but everytime I enter the authentication it gives me an error of server is unavailable
    now.
I've checked the DNS records, ports and certificate everything is fine, but it doesn't sign in. The weird issue here is that I tried to use a Lync 2010 client and it signed successfully with no error and within 2 seconds!!!
The only thing different in my deployment here is that I've updated the Lync to CU1 before I start the services for the first time and also before requesting and assigning the certificates.
Please do anyone has an idea of why this is happening? I will try tomorrow to uninstall Lync and its databases and start fresh without the CU1.

    Hi,
Please check if the Lync 2013 uses the automatical configuration to sign in Lync seve.
Please check the Client version policy in the Lync server control panel. Maybe the client version policy block it with mistake configuration.
Have a test to install the Lync 2013 on other PC then check the issue again.

  • Certificate error when Lync client login through VPN connection

    Hello,
I am using the certificates from internal cert authority on Lync 2013 frontend servers and on edge server internal network. Edge external is using a third part certificate.
The users always use MS VPN connection when work remotely. We have multiple subnets in the company so "use default gateway on remote network" is enabled for routing.
When the users try to log in Lync client from non-domain joined computers while on VPN, they can't log in and get certificate error. It is hard to import the internal certificate on the computers.
What change do I need to do to the Lync certificates? Thanks

    You have a few options:
    1) You could attempt to hardcode the client so that it always connects through the edge.  This can be done through tools->options->personal->advanced->manual configuration (but you may have to hardcode the FQDN in your hosts file so it doesn't
attempt to resolve via internal DNS).  This may not work since your firewall may not be too happy with "internal" traffic leaving and coming back through the edge.
    2) Write a script that helps automate the certificate installation and try to walk users through it.
    3) Bite the bullet and use a third party certificate on the internal servers.

    Hi,
Did the issue happen only for you or for multiple users?
You can try to logon other Lync client on other computer with your Lync account as a test.
It may cause by the conflicts between the Lync client and some drivers or some third party programs installed on the computer.
Please check if you install Bluetooth utility on your computer? If yes, please remove it and test the issue again.
Please also run Clean Boot to disable thirty party services and then test again:

  • Deploying full Lync client when basic has already been deployed

    Hello all,
I have recently purchased licensing for the full Lync client for my userbase. I have already deployed the Lync basic client. Has anyone done the full deployment after the basic? Will the full client remove/update the basic or will I have 2 versions installed?
If so, how can I remove the basic client from the command line as part of the full client installation?
    Thanks!

As i tested in my lab. These two version can be installed on the same computer.
But when I install Office 2013, i can't find Lync basic client in All program.
Type Lync basic 2013 in Search programs and files field, the full client starts.
After i uninstall Office 2013, i type Lync Lync basic 2013 in Search programs and files field, Lync basic client starts.

Your 64-bit OS will need to be 32-bit compatible, and that is not always guaranteed; Does it support both binaries?
I would strongly recommend that you download the 64-bit Client software; it should work just fine. Do you mind sharing with us why you do not wish to install the 64-bit Client software?

  • Lync Client 2013 - IM's sent show incorrect Font and text color

No matter what I set text to, either in Options or directly in the IM window, my text goes out in Times New Roman, with the first word in black and subsequent characters in gray.  Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone know how to resolve

Edit: I confirmed that once the server was upgraded to Lync 2013, this issue went away.  The only fix in a mixed environment was disabling the LyncHTML process.

The issue may be more related to Lync client. Please reinstall Lync and install latest update to test the issue.

  • Lync clients 2013 fails to show video, but 2010 works ok.

We'v migrated from 2010 to 2013 Lync server. But some Lync clients in remote places are still 2010.
And today I'v discovered that in a conference for 50+ participants but only one speaker (audio, video and presentation) for some reasons no one of 2013 client and WebApp could see a speaker video. I'v first restarted a client, then
a device, but no effect. After 30 minutes we have to start without a video, but some users with 2010 clients wrought that they have a video of the speaker.
I'v installed a Lync 2010 to my test PC, and on the same PC, with the same credentials 2010 client video is ok, and 2013 shows only a video placeholder.
I’v created a test conference, and the same situation repeats with only 4 clients.
    Any suggestions ?

    Hi,
From your description above, did you mean only 4 special Clients have this issue?
If yes, please try to check the OC firmware, delete Lync user profile and Lync information on Registry, then test he issue again. If the issue persists, please check if the Lync 2013 client update to the latest version.

I have a Sony Vaio E Series with WINDOWS 7 64bit home basic preinstalled. It worked perfectly fine for 2 yrs until last month, I needed to replace the hard drive due to bad sectors. Now, after a month of replacing my hard drive fresh from
