Error installing 10g on Windows Server 2003

I am trying to install Oracle 10g on a Windows Server 2003 box. I'm following the instructions listed here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/10gr2_db_single/install/wininst/wininst_otn.htm
Everything seems to go fine up until step 8. My Oracle Net Configuration Assistant fails. I get an error dialog titled "java.exe - Entry Point Not Found" the error message is "The procedure entry point longjmp could not be located in the dynnamik link library orauts.dll."
Does anyone have an idea what's wrong here?
Thanks,

The OUI 10.2.0.1 of the base release software distribution was used to install the new
component from the base release on top of the 10.2.0.2 Oracle Home.
The OUI 10.2.0.1 is not compatible with the 10.2.0.2 orauts.dll installed under the Oracle Home. OUI 10.2.0.1 and 10.2.0.2 are using different versions of orauts.dll. The OUI 10.2.0.2 located under %ORACLE_HOME%\oui\bin should be used for installing any new component (from the base release):
1. Run the setup.exe program located under %ORACLE_HOME%\oui\bin
2. Select the "products.xml" from the 10.2.0.1 DVD under database\stage or under the staging area
3. Select the component to be installed
4. After installing the additional component from the base release software distribution,
re-apply the current patchset, e.g. 10.2.0.2

• Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2003 Standard 64bit

We are running Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2003 Standard 64bit Edition. I am NOT a DBA, so forgive my ignorance.
We have 16GB of physical memory in this server. I was told by a DBA that Oracle runs on "a single process", and because of that, he said that Windows Server 2003 Standard will only allow 2GB max for a single process.
Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

This sounds more lika a Windows issue. If both Windows and app is "64-bit", I would expect the user virtual address space (per process) to be in the TiB range, if not larger.
(The said 2GiB limit applies to a 32-bit system.)

• Cannot Install Portal 10g on Windows Server 2003

Downloaded Portal 10G from downloads server (as_windows_x86_portal_wireless_101200) to a new Windows 2003 Server. Attempt to install, get the series of messages "checking prerequisites" ending with "All installer requirements met."
At that point the DOS window disappears, and nothing else visible happens. The "checking prerequisites" messages are also written to a log file in

• HT203175 How do I install iTunes on Windows Server 2003?!? I get an error every time!!

I am having trouble installing any version of ITunes 10.5 or later

every time I try to install it...
"Apple Mobile Device Support requires that your computer is running Windows XP SP2 or newer"
I anyone has had this same problem I would appreciate any help!!!
Thank you!!!

I've googled my problem with many hits stating Itunes can indeed be installed
by making changes to the msi packages and I believe a few
registry hacks. It sounds like it can be done, but before experimenting with
those suggestions I thought looking to the Apple community on the official site
might glean a better remedy.
I'm just surprised Apple doesn't support any Windows Server applications
even though Windows Server 2003 came out after Windows XP,

Hi Krishna,
Please check SAP PAM whether db2 9.7 is supported on Windows 2003 R2.
www.service.sap.com/PAM.
If not, then choose the database version which is supported for Windows 2003 R2.
You may try with db2 9.1 or 9.5 .

• Installing Essbase on Windows Server 2003 64bit

Hi,
A few weeks back, I ran into trouble with Essbase on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. Somone suggested I try installing on Windows Server 2003 which I am trying to do. Is there a reason why nothing happens when I double click the Installtool.cmd icon on Server 2003? Its the same installation files as the one I installed on Windows 7?
Much appreciated.
Sam

Hi John,
I've got Service Pack 2 installed and I am pretty sure I extracted all the files correctly because I just copied over the folder. A command window does open but no error message is displayed. Could the location have anything to do with it because I once had the same issue when I placed the installation folder in MyDocuments and when I moved it to the C drive it fixed the problem. Only problem this time is it doesn't work.

• I think I may have discovered the solution to installing CFMX7 on Windows Server 2003 SP1

I have not tried to reproduce this method so it may not be a
solution, but it worked for me. After many hours of trying to get
CFMX7 to install on a new server with a fresh install of Windows
Server 2003 with SP1, I stumbled across this and it actually
worked. Using the coldfusion-702-win.exe installer, I right clicked
on the .exe and even though I was logged in as an administrator I
received the option to Run as, so I decided to give it a shot. I
chose the option to run as Current User, but I unchecked the box
'Run this program with restricted access'. After I did this, the
install went through error free.

• Install fails on Windows Server 2003

Windows Server 2003 SP2
Installation disappears after the copying step is completed and then the "*Publishing Product Information*" step begins
In the log file, after the following line, the copied files are deleted and the registry entries are removed.
InstallFinalize. Return value 2.
Anybody have an idea how to get around this? We tried granting the "Impersonate a Client After Authentication" privilege to the Local user in the Administrators group doing the installation, to no avail.

After the user logged off and then back on the "Impersonate" privileges took effect and the install completed successfully.

• External table in Oracle 10g and Windows server 2003 problem

I'm having a problem accessing an external table in an Oracle 10g and Windows 2003 server environment. The disk is remote (mapped) to the server. It's the usual access errors, kup-04001 or kup-04063.
I have the [seemingly] exact same setup in an Oracle 9i and Windows 2000 server environment which works perfectly. Services run as local SYSTEM and SYSTEM has full permissions on the disk. Directories exist and so do the permissions to the directories.
In the Oracle 10g and Windows 2003 environment, services run as local SYSTEM and SYSTEM has full permissions on the mapped disk. Directories exist and so do the permissions to the directories.
This obviously effects mappings, deployments, etc.
Does anyone know if something changed in either the db or the os?
Thank you,
Michael

Thank you for your reply.
Your proposal is the standard solution. As a matter of fact, that's how it is on my "old" system. Server "A" Oracle services are started by SYSTEM. Server "B" Oracle services are started by SYSTEM and is where the flat files reside. SYSTEM has full permissions on a disk local to Server "B". Database directoriies defined on Server "A" point to Server "B" remote disk. External Tables on Server "A" are defined with directories that point to Server "B" remote (mapped) disk. I have no problems with this configuration.
I'm having a problem acheiving the same configuration with Oracle 10g and Windows 2003. I guess I'm baffled over the fact it isn't working the same way as my "old" environment. Why shouldn't it? Oracle (and you) want me to start services as a specific user. It shouldn't have to be that way unless something changed in the way the database makes calls to the os or if Microsoft slipped something in with one of it's numerous security patches.

• urgent:Error installing 10g on windows

hallo.. pls can some one give me a lasting solutionto this problem i encountered while installing oracle 10g.
When ever the installation reaches 88%, it brings an error message which says " Thrown when the IP address of a host cannot be determined"... the system has an assigned IP address
.. Can someone give me a solution to this...

Hi,
Two scenario i will explain you for installation.
(1) if your pc is not connected to network or says its in star configuration and do not have DNS configured ( more than one pc may in same workgroup)than you need to add Microsoft LoopBack adapter(using add hardware wizard) which creates virual network environment and configured this adapter using static ip says 10.10.0.1 and DNS 127.0.0.1 and add this ip in host file(10.10.0.1).Make sure you change/add computer name(fully qualigied) manually using compuer name change screen e.g. xyz.abc.com ->xyz is your computer name and abc.com will become your domain name. add this entry in host file like
10.10.0.1 xyz.abc.com xyz
keep 127.0.0.1 as it is in hosts file. and you would be okay. I did same this for my installation.
N.B when we install windows its only provide computer name by default with out domain so that we need to configure.Make sure during installation your machine should not have dynamic IP.
(2) if it is connected to network than you need proper DNS name and specific IP for you machine from your DNS admin. add those entries in hosts file like i mentioned in option 1.you I am sure that also will work in your case.
oracle Installation needs static ip and fully qualified Domain name for installation.depend upon the situation you can follow either steps. I did installation on windows as well as sun solaris and working fine.
hope this can give some idea.

• INSTALL 9i ON WINDOWS SERVER 2003

Hi
I went to this url (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/index.html) as usual to download the correct version of Oracle for my Windows 2003 server.
I see that you have version for xp/nt/2000 and windows2003 server.
But when i choose the version for windows203 server, i have not the good files, it's a patch to go on 9.2.0.3.
So is it because there is no special version for Windows2003 and i can take the cp/nt/2000 version or just because there is a problem with the link ?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
On Windows 2003 server you should first install Oracle 9i R2 9.2.0.1.0 then install Oracle 9.2.0.3 patch so your oracle version will be certified on windows 2003.
Without this patch Oracle 9i R2 can be installed, but will not be certified, and you may encounter some problems on functionalities.
Install 9i R2 and apply 9.2.0.3 patch.
