  • Installing 11g database in Unix

I was installing 11g database in Unix

  • How to install oracle database in window7-64 bit corei3 processor?

    Hi All,
please help me in installing oracle database on window7 64 bit machine with corei3 processor.
i have tried to install oracle 10g but not able to install. Is any higher version of oracle will work with same configuration?

You may have better luck with 11.2.0.1, from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
10.2.0.5 is the earliest version certified for Windows 7. Note that no Home edition of Windows 7 is supported, you should use Professional and up.

    SQL*Plus: Release 11.1.0.6.0 - Production
Copyright (c) 1982, 2007, Oracle.  All rights reserved.
Use SQL*Plus to execute SQL, PL/SQL and SQL*Plus statements.
    Usage 1: sqlplus -H | -V
-H             Displays the SQL*Plus version and the
                       usage help.
        -V             Displays the SQL*Plus version.
    Usage 2: sqlplus [ [<option>] [<logon>] [<start>] ]
      <option> is: [-C <version>] [-L] [-M "<options>"] [-R <level>] [-S]
-C <version>   Sets the compatibility of affected commands to the
version specified by <version>.  The version has
                       the form "x.y[.z]".  For example, -C 10.2.0
-F             Enables the failover mode for a RAC environment.
-L             Attempts to log on just once, instead of
                       reprompting on error.
-M "<options>" Sets automatic HTML markup of output.  The options
                       have the form:
HTML [ON|OFF] [HEAD text] [BODY text] [TABLE text]
                       [ENTMAP {ON|OFF}] [SPOOL {ON|OFF}] [PRE[FORMAT] {ON|OFF}]
-R <level>     Sets restricted mode to disable SQL*Plus commands
that interact with the file system.  The level can
                       be 1, 2 or 3.  The most restrictive is -R 3 which
disables all user commands interacting with the
                       file system.
-S             Sets silent mode which suppresses the display of
the SQL*Plus banner, prompts, and echoing of
                       commands.
      <logon> is: (<username>[/<password>][@<connect_identifier>] | /)
                  [AS SYSDBA | AS SYSOPER | AS SYSASM] | /NOLOG | [EDITION=value]
Specifies the database account username, password and connect
identifier for the database connection.  Without a connect
identifier, SQL*Plus connects to the default database.
The AS SYSDBA, AS SYSOPER and AS SYSASM  options are database
        administration privileges.
<connect_identifier> can be in the form of Net Service Name
        or Easy Connect.
          @[<net_service_name> | [//]Host[:Port]/<service_name>]
<net_service_name> is a simple name for a service that resolves
            to a connect descriptor.
Example: Connect to database using Net Service Name and the
database net service name is ORCL.
               sqlplus myusername/mypassword@ORCL
Host specifies the host name or IP address of the database
            server computer.
Port specifies the listening port on the database server.
<service_name> specifies the service name of the database you
            want to access.
Example: Connect to database using Easy Connect and the
                     Service name is ORCL.
               sqlplus myusername/mypassword@Host/ORCL
The /NOLOG option starts SQL*Plus without connecting to a
        database.
The EDITION specifies the value for Application
        Edition
      <start> is: @<URL>|<filename>[.<ext>] [<parameter> ...]
Runs the specified SQL*Plus script from a web server (URL) or the
local file system (filename.ext) with specified parameters that
will be assigned to substitution variables in the script.
When SQL*Plus starts, and after CONNECT commands, the site profile
(e.g. $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin/glogin.sql) and the user profile
(e.g. login.sql in the working directory) are run.  The files may
    contain SQL*Plus commands.
Refer to the SQL*Plus User's Guide and Reference for more information.

I'm not sure with the solaris sparc 64.
but the most common problem with Linux x86_64 which I assume probably similar. that type of error caused by
you have to install glibc-devel-32 bit and libstdc++-devel 32 bit together with your 64 bit. both libraries required by the Oracle to solve the linking problem.

    probably it will help you.
sorry, this is just my guessing of your problem.

  • Error installing 11g R2 on W2008-64-R2 Enterprise

As I was installing 11gR2 on W2008 ( versions of both in subject) I received the following error:
Enterprise manager configuration failed due to the following error-
Error uploading configuration data to the repository...
    etc. etc.
Before making this post I tried to find a solution in the forum, and saw that many others have experienced failures during Enterise Manager configuration. Unfortunately I couldn't find a solution to my problem in any other Forum posts.
During installation I installed the database components first, then started the listener service manually, and then created the database instance manually, to make sure that the listener was running during EM configuration. Didn't work, though.
Checking the log file unfortunately didn't bring me any great insights...
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

you need to customer support identifier which is called CSI for can login metalink(https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html)
If you dont have metalink account there is no way to see those docs.
    Pretty simple process:
    1) You purchase a perpetual or term license from Oracle;
    2) At the beginning of the period, during the valid term you purchase
    Support for the period (1 year);
    3) Oracle sends you the CSI.
Easy to do at http://store.oracle.com armed with a credit card.

rajesh. Its expect to be BUG in 11.2.0.1 if you are installing(11.2.0.1), SO i suggest you to install 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3 on windows 2008r2. Remember you can directly download and install 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3 without base release i.e. 11.2.0.1

Bug 9166347: GRID INSTALLATION ROOT.SH AND DEINSTALL FAIL WITH HOTSPOT VIRTUAL MACHINE SIGSEG
Also run the Clusterverification utility to know any issues in advance.

I download the file 1 and 2 into the same folder then unzip them both. then i open the file 1 of2 and open the setup application. is there something im doing wrong.

After you have unzipped both of the downloaded .zip files -- and unzipped them into the same directory -- there is no "open the file 1 of 2".
and open the setup application. is there something im doing wrong.

  • Error installing oracle database on windows xp

    Hello,
I've been trying to installing oracle db on my system but it keeps throwing this error:
'OUI-10151: There was an error while loading library: generalQueries'.
Please advice me on how this problem can be solved.
    Regards,
    Toyosi

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm getting an OUI-10151 during a fresh/clean install, not an upgrade, on Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2. The software source was used previously without issues.

  • Sp1us.msb not found error in 11g on windows xp machine

    Hi,
I have installed 11g database in the windows xp machine and when i try to access sqlplus from cmd prmpt it gives me error
sp1us.msb not found. Need to set ORACLE_HOME.
Now I had set the ORACLE_HOME but again after setting it gives the same error.
So I tried to find the sp1us.msb file in ORACLE_HOME directory.
But there is no folder named sqlplus in my ORACLE_HOME directory which contains the file sp1us.msb
Can i make a dummy folder named sqlplus and in that mesg and create a blank sp1us.msb file?
Does this binary file has any significance in intializing the database?

    Hi,
I have already set ORACLE_HOME in the environment variable.
But the problem is that sqlplus directory itself is not there in the ORACLE_HOME directory structure. So it is not able to find the sp1us.msb file which resides in
ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/mesg. But in my case the sqlplus folder is missing.
So can I make a new folder like sqlplus and inside it mesg and put the dummy sp1us.msb binary file?
Does this file contains any contents to intialize the database?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hyperion errors after installing Oracle Database 11G

    Hello,
The company I work for has a bunch of Oracle databases available, two which I connect to (use to connect to). I have multiple applications that I use to connect to these databases, Hyperion Interactive Reporting Studio 9.3.1 being one of them. I'm using Windows XP as my client.
I made the mistake of installing Oracle Database 11G Express Edition and now I cannot connect to any of the database using my applications, but I can connect to the same databases using SQL Developer. When I try connectiing using Hyperion, I get "SQL NATIVE ERROR [12504] SQL MESSAGE [[INTERSOLV][ODBC ORACLE 8 DRIVER][ORACLE 8][ORA-12504; TNS LISTERNER WAS NOT GIVEN THE SERVICE_NAME IN CONNECT DATA".
When connectiing using other company applications, which use the same database, i get "IM006: [INTERSOLV][ODBC ORACLE 8 DRIVER] DRIVERS SQLSETCONNECTATTRFAILED. UNABLE TO CONNECT TO DATABASE. CHECK USER NAME AND PASSWORD AND TRY AGAIN"
I'm assuming that I updated a driver or registry setting and I need to know how to reverse . I also copied a tnsnames and listerner from an associates computer and placed it in the same location on my computer, but this has not helped at all, even after rebooting the computer.
I even double checked and logged onto anothe computer and I can connect to the database using these same applications, so I definetly messed something up locally on my computer.
    Any help is appreciated. Joe.

Probably you could solve odbc driver issues by removing the PATH entry from XE installation.
    It looks something like:
    Path=C:\oracle\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin;<remaining paths>
In system variabels settings, edit PATH to remove the "oraclexe" path and semicolon, leaving only <remaining paths>.
However, removing it will likely have an affect on XE usage. But that may be preferred over other apps working.
