Error installing 9ias using 9i database
I installed the new 9i database on win2000 and try too install
the applicationserver 9ias. The installation aborts after
reporting "not all dependensies for the component oracle
enterprise manager common files 2.2.0.0.0 is found. Missing
component oracle.swe.jre 1.1.8.10.0"
Please help !!!!
Hello everyone.
I am also trying to install 9iAS with RDBMS 9.0.1.1, and I am
getting a lot of problems.
The first one is that the iSetup.exe of the first cd does
nothing when I double click on it! I found the setup.exe on
install\win32 on the cd, and with changes on oraparam.ini, i
have managed to start the installation.
I have also got the error about "not all dependensies for the
component oracle enterprise manager common files 2.2.0.0.0 is
found. Missing component oracle.swe.jre 1.1.8.10.0", and managed
to pass it with the rename of ProgramFiles\Oracle\Inventory
directory. I got then the problems with the installation of the
8.0.6 tools, that abort with a beep!
I took the advice of Stephen Fenwick on this thread, of
installing RDBMS 8.1.7, but it is the same, the 8.0.6 tools keep
aborting.
I am using W2K with SP2.
Can anyone please help me?

Error installing 11gR1 using Response file on Win 7 b/c version 6.1 not 6.0
Hi everyone, I am hoping someone can help me, I searched the forum but I couldn't find anything similar to the problem I am having.
I have just got a new laptop with Win 7. I have the 11gR1 64bit Oracle download files and I am trying to install it using the command prompt with --responsefile.
The install fails when it is doing the prereq checks for checking CertifiedVersions. I know if I just executed setup.exe and went through the screens I could bypass this, but I need to install it with my response file. Anyone know how I can get around this?
Here is the output from the install:

Thanks in advance!Hi;
Microsoft Windows 7 certification will begin with Oracle Database 11gR2 (11.2.0.x). That means, Oracle Database 11gR2 will be the first Oracle Database product certified/supported with Microsoft Windows 7.
You need to download 11gR2 (11.2.0.x).
For details:

Installing 9iAS on the database server
Is it OK, if I install 9iAS on the same server, where the 9i database has been installed? If I install 9iAS on the same server, then many of the services get duplicated (as it requires different home), like TNS listner, intelligent agent, HTTP server, Management server etc. Also default home itelligent agent service doesn't start after 9iAS installation.
OR should I install 9iAS on another machine?
-YogeshAs long as Oracle9iAS and Oracle DB are in two different Oracle Homes, it is possible to have this coexistance of these Oracle products. Infact, this is true for any other Oracle product and Oracle9iAS. This is true for any platform.
Further, in Release 2, 9.0.2 version, we are supporting Oracle9i Application Server (J2EE and Web Cache, Portal and Wireless, BI and Forms, UM install types), Oracle9iAS and Oracle9iDS Release 2 can be installed into same Oracle Home. -

Error installing 9iAS on Win NT/2000
I downloaded Oracle 9iAS for Win NT from the web site http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/ias/software_index.htm. When I try to unzip the files using winzip 8.0, I get the following error - "Cannot open file. It does not appear to be a valid archive. Try downloading again". I tried downloading a couple of times. I am getting the same error.
I believe these files should be compatible with win2000. I would appreciate if anyone could help me with the installation, or help find a downloadable 9iAS compatible with win 2000.
Thanks,
Priya
nullCan anyone tell me where can I download the 9i database for Windows 2000? I only see the 9i Enterprise Database for Sun's Solaris.
Thanks in advanced.

I have tried installing several times. The last times I have installed Oracle Personal Edition 8.1.7. Each time I get through to Step 6 of 6 in the Oracle 9i configuration. Usually around 20%. The install log shows the following error:
18/11 PLS-00201: identifier 'OWA_VPD_CTX.SET_CTX' must be declared
What can I do to complete this installation? We need to evaluate the Portals application for possible implementation!
Thank you.Here is today's effort:
Increased java_pool_size.
Complete de- and re -install of AS.
Launch.bat now contains the correct connect_string (completely absent previously) in the command line at the end of the bat file (i.e. "C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.7\bin\jrew" -cp ".;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\assistants\opca\opca.jar;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.7\lib\rt.jar;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.7\lib\i18n.jar;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\jdbc\lib\classes111.zip;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\jlib\ewt-3_3_6.jar;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\jlib\help-3_1_8.jar;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\jlib\ice- 4_06_6.jar;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\jlib\share-1_0_8.jar;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\jlib\smui-1_0_8.jar;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\jlib\ewt-swingaccess-1_1_1.jar;F:\ORACLE\iSuites\jlib\swingall-1_1_1.jar" oracle.webdb.config.PortalConfigAssistant)
install.log file has the variables correctly assigned.
Config assistant starts up and shows the connect_string in the connect_string box (and not the sys password , as previously).
The config assistant connects to the db OK.
In the install.log, Steps 1 to 3 also appear (whereas, previously, it started at step 4 ).
Now the downside,
When the config assistant attempts to launch sqlplus as sys (i.e. checking the log) the command line has sqlplus /s sys/<sys_password> ...
i.e. despite having connected previously with the db, it has lost the sys password
How can this be resolved? What are the true parameters to oracle.webdb.config.PortalConfigAssistant?

Hi !
I had the same problem before I had a look into this forum. But
it seems i found a way around this problem:
1. I have all the required files copied from CD to my harddisk
(disk1, disk2 and disk3).
2. I copied the required "jre_1.1.8"-files from the Oracle9i-DB
CD 1 stage directory into the stage directory of "Disk1" and to
be sure to the other stage dir in the "install" directory.
3. I use the OUI 2.0 which has been installed with the database.
With this I got around this message. Hope this helps anyone. -
Install 9iAS 1.0.2.2.a on XP
hi,
anybody has success with AS installation on XP? i cannot see the point why should i install db at least twice (9.x, 8.1.7, 8.0.6, ...) and why is j2sdk, jre is need to be installed multiple instances.
- oracle agent cannot srart up (no SNMP master, what's missing?)
- there is two HTTPD
- cannot set the DAD connect string for 9iAS
i was reading hundreds of pages, mainly preinstallation tasks. trying to deinstall and reinstall after and have to clean up the registry manually (and the folders as well).
so the Q is: is there any complete book (howto) about to install a 9iAS on my XP which includes all the steps suggestion, and not like this, enter "DAD name:", and the help says ("enter the DAD name").
thxBetter yet: I found this from one of the forums, it has

Hi All,
I am trying to install 9iAS (9.0.3) on my win2k Pro machine - and got weird problem.
First time I installed, everything went ok and worked fine. - However, since I have Oracle8i installed before and somehow Toad was screwed after 9iAS installation, I de-installed 9iAS (using Universal Installer come with 9iAS CD)
Weird problem happens ever since - it always pop up error (at 30% of "Setting up Install Types" bar):
All Oracle9iAS installations on a host must be installed by the same operating system user. The initial Oracle9iAS installed at ... was installed by a different operating system user. .....
The problem is that I definetely used same user name (indeed, besides admin, I am the only user who can login to this machine)
Any suggestions will be appreciated!
WarrenI cleaned registy many times using regedit (deleted anything related to 9i)- no use
I have 8.1.7 installed, and when install 9ias, error message says there's a previous 9i installation at my 8.1.7 directory (C drive) by different user - not make sense
because (1) the first time I install 9i, I put 9ihome in D drive. (2) I install 8.1.7 using same username
The only thing changed is the user password to login to my computer. It's really weird. -
Errors Installing Portal Components using 9iAS Enterprise on 8.1.7 SE
We are getting an error installing the Portal Components using
9iAS Enterprise on a 8.1.7 SE database. The log indicates that
the error is:
ORA-00439: feature not enabled: Function-based indexes
Errors encountered in the Install process. Installation Aborted.
While I know that Function-based indexes are not supported in SE
this should not prevent the installation of Portal.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thx, PaulIts also working in our case where we have used 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition. We installed 9iAS 1.0.2.0 on NT. So if you have any issues regarding this then let me know.

Reply
Dear Friends,
I installed oracle 9ias. and then i hosted my form, report into that server . All was working properly.
at this time my database was into another machine.
then i installed oracle 9i database into the same machine
(as the oracle 9ias was installed)
at the instalation of oracle 9i database one error comes
and shows that Agent configuration Assistant Installation
fail.
but After installation of database it work properly.
there is no problem.
but when I try to run from through web(by using oracle 9ias)
it gives Internal error(500).
i check and find that my appache server for 9ias is working properly and in services of windows 2000 no error comes.
HOW CAN I INSTALL BOTH (ORACLE 9IAS AND ORACLE DATABASE )INTO SAME MACHINE.

Installing 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on 9i database
Installing 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on 9i database and getting an
error: "ORA-04031: unable to allocate 40972 bytes of shared
memory ("large pool","unknown object","koh-kghu sessi","pl/sql
Errors encountered in the Install process. Installation Aborted."
Error occured on 49% of installation process! Anyone have any
ideas?
Thanks,
JanezDear Janez,
I understand the disappointment you are going through right now,
because I my self went through the same feeling of frustration
for a long time before I could successfully install Oracle9iAS
1.0.2.2 in conjunction with an Oracle9i 9.0.1 database (on the
Windows platform).
First of all, for some reason (???) Oracle no longer allows any
user to connect as SYS without the "as SYSDBA" clause. The OPCA
wizard requests the SYS password and connect string for the
database where it has to create the Portal Repository. I believe
that the "opca.jar" has the login credentials hard-coded
as "SYS" (without the "as SYSDBA" clause). To work around this,
set the parameter O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY=TRUE in the
database INIT.ORA file.
The next problem I faced was with the Oracle JDBC driver that
was supplied along with the Oracle9i database (release 9.0.1). I
found that I was not being able to establish a simple connection
using the classes111.zip or classes12.zip provided with the
Oracle9i database itself. I then visited the Oracle Technology
Network to search for Oracle9i JDBC drivers and downloaded the
classes12.zip file listed for the Solaris platform (there were
no JDBC drivers listed for the Oracle9i database on Windows
NT/2000, only Oracle8i release 8.1.7).
Then I ran the Portal Configuration Assistant batch file
(launch.bat) after replacing the existing classes111.zip in the
script's CLASSPATH with the classes12.zip I had just downloaded.
Now I was getting the same error message that you have listed.
I then attempted to create the Portal 3.0.9 repository manually
instead of using the Configuration Wizard and was finally able
to do so. I am outlining the steps below that you have to follow
to do the same.
1. With a text editor, open the following file:
<ORACLE_HOME>\portal30\admin\plsql\cat\catload.sql
2. Comment out the following line:
REM spool ..\..\portal30\admin\plsql\cat\catldscr.sql
3. Add a new line to indicate the correct location of
catldscr.sql for a manual installation:
spool catldscr.sql
4. Save and close the file.
5. With a text editor, open the following file:
<ORACLE_HOME>\portal30\admin\plsql\owa\owaload.sql
6. Comment out the following line:
REM spool ..\..\portal30\admin\plsql\owa\wpildscr.sql
7. Add a new line to indicate the correct location of
wpildscr.sql for a manual installation:
spool wpildscr.sql
8. Save and close the file.
9. Open a Command Prompt and set the ORACLE_HOME like:
set ORACLE_HOME=E:\Oracle\iSuites
10. From the %ORACLE_HOME%\portal30\admin\plsql
directory, run the onetime script to install the PL/SQL Web
Toolkit packages:
onetime.cmd -p <SYS_Password> -l onetime.log -c <connect_string>
11. Then run the Oracle9iAS Portal installation script from the
Command Prompt (%ORACLE_HOME%\portal30\admin\plsql\winstall) to
install the Oracle9iAS Portal product. This may take about 2 to
3 hours.
winstall.cmd -s portal30 -p portal30 -u users -t temp -d users -
l users -o portal30_sso -i portal30_sso_ps -r 12345 -c
<connect_string> > winstall.log
12. At a DOS prompt, run the %ORACLE_HOME%\portal30
\admin\plsql\ssodatan script. This script configures your login
via the Single Sign-On (SSO) Server.
ssodatan.cmd -w http://<Machine_Name>:<Port_No.>/pls/portal30/ -
l http://<Machine_Name>:<Port_No.>/pls/portal30_sso/ -s
portal30 –p portal30 -o portal30_sso -d portal30_sso -e
portal30_sso_ps -c <connect_string>
13. Stop and restart your HTTP server:
net stop OracleiSuitesHTTPServer
net start OracleiSuitesHTTPServer
14. In the DOS prompt, run the following two commands to install
the Portal Online Help.
cd %ORACLE_HOME%\portal30\admin\plsql\wwu
contimp.cmd -s portal30 -p portal30 -o portal_help -m reuse –u
database_user -d ..\..\..\doc\site\hlp30ca.dmp -c
<connect_string>
Hope this helps.

Thanks,
JanezI had the same problem. Try this:
Please see if the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack is installed. You can normally see
this in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
There are two solutions/workarounds:
Solution One: Make a Registry Export
1. Start REGEDIT. Navigate to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\
Microsoft\Transaction Server\Setup(OCM)
2. Choose Registry, Export Registry File. Select to export the current branch.
3. Enter a filename, e.g. pre-ias.reg
4. With 'Setup(OCM)' highlighted, press the Delete key. At the 'confirm key
delete' prompt, answer Yes.
5. Install the 9i Application Server.
6. Re-establish the registry key by double clicking the filename you created.
Solution Two: Uninstall the Option Pack
This solution takes more time, but if you don't need the Option Pack you can
remove it.
Remove the NT Option Pack, install 9iAS, then you can install the Option Pack
again.
Explanation
It appears that the Universal Installer hangs on a specific registry key that
belongs to a component of the Option Pack.

I tried to install 9iAS-Infrastructure first. Installation completed but hanged while linking.
Later decided to install J2EE & Web Cache option of 9iAS with out the infrastructure. It stopped while setting up install types after 23% of progress, with message:'An error occured while trying to determine the running process'. I hit continue and a dependencies screen came up with a following message : ' oracle 9iAS installation has detected that the Enterprise Manager website is running on this system. Install cannot continue unless it is shutdown. Unset ORACLE_HOME and run the command emctl stop under the bin directory of the 9iAS infrastructure home directory...' I did not type exactly but that is the main point.
But Infrastructure installation did not go through and i have completely removed all the files from the location where it placed files during its installation.
I am not sure from where Installer is finding this Enterprise Manager website and the emctl command.
I did unset ORACLE_HOME env variable before starting the installation.
Any idea how to clean up.
Thanks
RKSorry for the delay in replying. I am trying to install 9iAS on Red Had Linux 8. I looked into /var and i don't see anything related to oracle. the directory under which 9iAS infrastucture was being installed, i removed the entire directory in the process of cleaning up. Still not able to install ias & web cach option.
Can i try to download Red Hat 9 and do a fresh install. I saw few people have sucessfully installed it.
Or should i have to go for the Advanced server which is a bit costly for me. I know that is what Oracle recommends to use or on the SuSe flavor.
Thanks - RK.
