Error installing BI Publisher Desktop in Windows 7 64bits with Office 2010

Hello
I'm having a problem when trying to install the latest version of BI Publisher Desktop on my computer (Windows 7-64bits with Office 2010).
Almost at the end of the installation it appears a message box saying "Template Builder installer failed: Cannot run installer while Mocrosoft Word is running". Now, i made sure all Office apps are closed, as well as IE windows. What i've noticed is that right before this error appears, a process for WINWORD.exe is open - by the installer.
How can i fix this?
Many thanks for your replies

I've tried runnig the installer with Windows XP SP3 compatibility and it worked.

  • Unable to Instal Xcelsius 2008 Engage on Windows 7 with Office 2010

    Hi,
       I having a problem installing Dashboard with the filename "14-20018-085.exe", I using a Windows7 64-bits and with Office Pro 2010 installed. Any suggestion?
    best regards,
    Le Kern

    Excel 2010 is not supported with the current release of Xcelsius.
    If you google Excel 2010 and Xcelsius you will see a few workarounds. The most common being to install Office 2007, then install Xcelsius, then go back to Office 2010. However you may then not be able to install future fix packs, and you will be using an unsupported setup.
    Unfortunately your only robust option is to use Office 2007 if you want to use Xcelsius.
    The new Xcelsius (with BI4.0) works with 2010, but as far as I know Office 2010 is still not 'officially' supported.

  • Help with OBDC connection in Windows 7 64bit with Office 2010 32 bit.

    Hi,
    Many moons ago I wrote an application in Java that configured XP machines after they were sysprep’d and deployed. I am currently migrating all our workstations to Windows 7, and was checking my application still worked and queries the correct registry keys etc.
    As it turns out however I don't even get going as I believe the application is unable to connect to the ODBC Microsoft Access Driver in Windows 7 64bit with Office 2010 32 bit. Below is the code I have always used and no longer works. I am hopeful that someone can tell me how to modify the command to work on Windows 7 64bit. If I browse to C:\Windows\SysWow64\OBDCad32.exe all the drivers I need are there I think, but if I open OBDC from Administrative Tools the Drivers tab is empty but for SQL. Anyway I will shut up and below is the code I used to use:
         public IOMakeConnection()
         dm = new DisplayMessage();
         ioed = new IOEncryptDecrypt();
         url = "jdbc:odbc:DRIVER=Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb);DBQ=" + getPath() + "Config.mdb;Uid=admin;Pwd=password";
              try
              Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
              connection = DriverManager.getConnection( url );
              catch( Exception e )
              system.out.println( "" + e );
              errorObtainingPath();
    The exception is always thrown as my little app that requests the database path always loads.
    Thanks in advance,
    Cheers Kris

    Hello again,
    Sorry for the delayed response, I have been out of the office for a few days.
    I have solved the issue, and as stated above the issue was the way I was launching the application. Below is a summary of the issue and the resolution.
    My problem was that in Windows 64bit if you click on ODBC in Administrative Tools the Drivers Tab only includes an SQL Driver, and my code reference a Microsoft Access Driver to query the database. That said however if you browse to C:\Windows\SysWow64 and open obdcab32.exe it opens the 32bit version of ODBC, and the Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) is listed.
    Basically what I need to do therefore is get my code to access the “32bit” version of ODBC in a Windows 7 64bit environment, so my application was able to read the necessary information from the Access Database associated with it.
    I understand that this is not a coding issue directly, but assuming people still use Java to open an Access Database on a Windows 7 64bit OS, this may be of help.
    So previously I ran the following command, from the “Target” box in a shortcut to execute the java code:
    cmd.exe /C SET CLASSPATH=C:\SCAConfigurationUtility && CD\SCAConfigurationUtility && JAVAW SCAConfigurationUtility
    Windows 7 64bit, defaults to the 64bit version of Java, and just seems to plain fail if you only have the 32bit version installed. To overcome this I forced the java executable that I was using to be the 32bit version, and used the system switches available in Java 7 (-cp does not appear to be available in Java 6)
    So my Shortcut now has this in the “Target” box:
    java.exe -d32 -cp C:\SCAConfigurationUtility SCAConfigurationUtility
    And this in the “Start in” box:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin"
    Or by using the target below the same shortcut works in XP
    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin"
    Thanks for all the help,
    Regards Kris.

  • ZCM 11.2 Beta Windows 7 with Office 2010 imageing

    Hi we are testing the ZCM 11.2 for imaging Windows 7 Clients.
    Now we have a nice Bug with the new Image.
    Fresh installation Win7 incl. Office 2010 syspreped --> imaged with zcm11.1 everything is normal (of cause image up/download is slow). Imaged with zcm11.2, the hole Office 2010 installation is dead, no Outlook Profile, starting Excel it will reinstall VB for Access, word will reconfig him self....(3rd party imaging tools work also fine). An Office repair fix it, but its not an solution.

    Hi Shaun,
    One of my customers experienced the same thing, and when I looked at the image, all the 8.3 folder names have been removed by the imaging engine either during the image capture or during the image restore. Obviously, the issue with this that most applications relying on the PATH variable do not run correctly or do not run at all, as the PATH is full of 8.3 path names, but they cannot be resolved by the OS as they do not exists after the image restore (including the ZCM Agent commands such as zac).
    Would you be so kind to put this onto the list of bugs please, as I don't know how to.
    The conference calls for ZCM are at 4:30am NZ time and this is too early to attend and anyway they are not the right place to raise individual issues.

  • Acrobat Pro 7, Windows 7 and Office 2010. C: blocked by GPO. Designer application can not save. Ther

    Hello,
    Please I need some help if possible. I just recently upgraded a user to Windows 7 with Office 2010 and reinstalled her Acrobat 7. We locked down c: thru GPO, and it seems this is causing an issue when she uses Designer. She and click save or save as all she wants but nothing happens. If I log in under admin (i can see c:) everything works fine, if possible could someone lead me to the solution. We can not open c: for her, if there is a registry edit where i can change the default location that would be great.Thanks in advance.
    Paul

    If the Win7 is a 64-bit system, you will need to upgrade the Acrobat to XI. AA 7 will work with Win7, 32-bit, after some playing around but will not be automatic. I am specifically referring to printing to the Adobe PDF printer. PDF Maker will definitely not work with OFFICE 2010, that requires AA X with updates as a minimum.
    For AA7, the AcroTray function will probably fail (it did for me on a 64-bit system). In fact, you will likely not even get a printer. I was able to install an HP PS printer (color should probably be selected) and change the name to the Adobe PDF printer. Then change the port to file. When you print to the printer, it will create a PS (actually listed as PRN) file that can then be opened in Distiller to complete the process of the PDF creation. For most users, this is not an obvious solution -- I even did it with AA5 on a 32-bit Win7. Because of the issues, it is strongly recommended to upgrade (at this point it is a new purchase since AA9 is needed for the upgrade at present) to AA XI. Sorry for the bad news, but AA7 is 8 years old and is ancient in software terms (OK, I still have it on some XP machines).

    After connecting how can i connect the BI publiser to my database?
    Could anyone guide me the steps to follow?
    Thanks a many...
    Regards

    The BI Publisher Desktop tool allows you to access your BI Publisher Enterprise server from your client PC. It does not provide any means to directly connect to your database.
    A basic installation of BI Publisher Enterprise shall be accessible via eg. http://appserver.mycompany.com:9704/xmlpserver and you can access it using the seeded credentials being Administrator / Administrator. You should use the same URL and credentials for the Template Builder add-in from MS Word.

    Please have the following installed before you try installing BI Publisher Desktop:
    Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
    Java Runtime or JDK 1.6 or later

    You can use J2SE 1.5.0 if you follow the migration steps from the following note:
    Using J2SE Version 5.0 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=304099.1
    Apply 4372996 J2SE 5.0 CONSOLIDATED PATCH FOR USE WITH ORACLE EBS 11I
    txkrun.pl -script=SetJDKCfg -contextfile=$CONTEXT_FILE -runautoconfig=Yes -appspass=apps_password -jdktop=/usr/jdk1.5.0_11
    You will want to migrate to 1.4.2 first in order to upgrade to adkeystore.dat for jinitiator certificates to avoid the following error:
    Upgrading To J2SE 5.0 Gives adkeystore.dat No Such File Error
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=406675.1
    Using J2SE Version 1.4 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i, Release 11.5.9 or Higher
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=246105.1
    Follow the instructions to migrate the AD utilities off 1.1.8:
    /usr/j2se = 1.4.2
    cd $AD_TOP/bin
    perl $AD_TOPbin/adjavamig.pl java=/usr/j2se contextfile=$CONTEXT_FILE
    Then regen JAR files will take 5 minutes instead of 60 on 1.1.8 adjava.

  • Installing BI Publisher Desktop as a machine startup script?

    Hello,
    Our company wants to deploy Oracle BI Publisher Desktop 10.1.3.4.1 to 60+ machines with Office 2010. Users on these machines do not have any admin privileges and therefore the installation is done via machine start up script. I managed to combine bits and pieces from various documents and generated a response file for silent install. The installation seems to be successful as users see the BI add-ins menu in Word. However, when they click 'Log On' from the Oracle BI Publisher menu, they first get a "Template Builder not found" error and then a "Run-Time error '429'" from MS VB. I have found a few threads talking about how to resolve these errors but none worked for me (e.g. Run the XMLPreportingTools4WordSetup.msi from BI Publisher's folder)
    I've narrowed down the reason that may have caused all these. When installing as a start up script, two things are missing from the installation: 1) Shared Add-in Extensibility Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB908002) and 2) Shared Add-in Support Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB908002). On the other hand, if I install the software manually using an account with admin privileges, these 2 additional .NET software are installed as part of the overall package.
    My guess is that installation via start up script is unable to call the necessary files to install the 2 .NET software. Me and my colleges would rather not having to logon to each machine and install BI Publisher manually.
    If you have encounter similar situations before, any tips/feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Excel VBA - ActiveX Control - MonthView not available under ActiveX Toolbox for Windows 8 64bit MS Office 2010

    Hello,
    I have Windows 8, 64bit and Office 2010
    I am trying to get the 'datepicker' (MonthView) ActiveX control toolbox in Excel 2010 as part of a Excel UserForm I have created. I have spent all day trying to find a solution for my problem.
    I opened up the 'more.. ' but the MonthView/datepicker/calendar control is not listed.
    I referred to some articles and confirmed that I do indeed have the mscomct2.ocx file in the C:\Windows\syswow64 folder.
    I followed the instructions as above, opening up the Administrator Command Prompt and changed the directory to C:\Windows\syswow64 and typed in RegSvr32.
    I received a popup screen confirming my registration was successful
    Excel was closed. So I opened Excel and checked out the ActiveX Tool box and clicked on the 'More  Controls', but there was no listing for the Microsoft MonthView control, (nor datepicker/calendar)
    I then downloaded the latest Windows Common Controls 2 6.0 from the following site
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
    Copied the original file (2008) and saved it elsewhere on the computer for safekeeping.
    Extracted the new mscomct2.ocx.
    Under the C:\Windows\syswow64 I changed the original file properties to allow me to overwrite it with the new file. This worked … old file replaced.
    I then registered the new file via the Administrator Command Prompt (as above) and was notified that it was successful. I rebooted pc and went back into Excel to find the MonthView in the
    ActiveX toolbox, More Controls… and it still wasn’t there …
    I would be very grateful if someone could advise how I can get this control and allow me to use it.
    If I have left out any information that you need to resolve this issue, please advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
    Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly

    Hi George,
    Thank you for checking this out ... :)
    I am using Office 2010 64 bit ...
    I found the
    mscomct2.ocx file originally within the C:\Windows\syswow64 directory (this was an original file .... which I expect was installed via Microsoft at the time of the Office installation.
    As I mentioned above, I followed
    the instructions (same as the ones you suggested), but still no go, even though it stated that the registration was successful ! :(
    Why weren't these features included in the 64 bit ? ... yes, I read the article ... but ... so MS doesn't think that people/developers would be needing this in due course?  I installed the 64bit version because I'm running the Win8 64bit version ...and
    I deal with a lot of large spreadsheets and can't afford to sleep whilst they decide to load.
    If MS included all the other ActiveX controls and some obscure ones, surely some bright spark could have thought that something as useful as MonthView should be included as 'basic' necessity when dealing with forms and sheets?
    Perhaps you could pass the suggestion up the line .... there are a lot of other people out there having the same problem ... I found heaps when I was looking for a solution.
    Sorry, I'm not having a go at you, but just incredibly frustrated .... the amount of lost productivity directly cause by trying to find a solution that doesn't exist ... it's been at least a good solid 24 hours.
    But thank you for taking the time to review my post and your suggestion. It's unfortunate that because you are part of the organisation ... you tend to cop some slack from frustrated people like myself.
    In relation to the pictures/screen dumps, 2 of them made it (I can see them in my post) ... one I deliberately left out because there was nothing on there that showed anything other than the rest of the 'More Controls' - nothing to do with the MonthView.
    Please feel free to escalate this to the powers that be ... and hopefully enough people will join the voice so a change can be made (I can dream ... can't I?)
    I've taken a screen dump of the Forms/ActiveX toolbox.
    I don't know what the next step is ... I guess you'd be able to advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
    Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly
