Error Installing Citadel ODBC Driver 3.0.9 On Windows XP

Hello,
I am looking to read some data out of a Lookout database which is a Citadel 3 database. I am having an issue installing the Citadel ODBC Driver 3.0.9 on Windows XP (located here: http://www.ni.com/download/citadel-odbc-driver-3.0.9/512/en/). Everytime I run the setup.exe I get the following error:
I have tried running the setup program in compatitibility mode for Windows 2000, 98, 95, and NT with the same result. Is there something I can do to manually install the driver?
Thank you,
Luke

May have to install on a Win 2000 virtual machine alongside a newer database to convert to Citadel 4/5

Did you add a System DSN or a User DSN? If you added a User DSN from your own login, the asp.net application will not be able to use it unless its application Pool in IIS is configured to run under the same credentials that you used for creating
the DSN. It's better if you add a System DSN.
Also, be careful to ensure that you are using a 64 bit DSN, unless you configure the application to run in 32 bits. If the 64 bit application attempts to use the 32 bit driver you get the same error message "Data source name not found and no default
driver specified". See this KB article:

  • SQL Server Reporting Services: ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Hey everyone, So I am trying to get a report onto the server, and in BIDS I kept getting a login screen repeating over and over when I tried to deploy my report, so I tried to upload the file at http://<servername>/Reports This worked, but then trying
to run this report from http://<servername>/Reports did not work either because "An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source 'FTYDataSource'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information
about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors" Anyways I tried to add a New Data Source (which I would use in the report) at http://<servername>/Reports, type ODBC, with the connection string Dsn=blah_blahblah.
I try to test the connection here and get the error ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified This is really getting old fast, everything I try, a new error comes up. Granted I am new at this,
but this still should not be this troublesome. Does anyone have any ideas on what could FINALLY allow me to just put a report out onto the server?!? THANK YOU in advance for ANY help.

    Hi,
Please try setting the credentials of the datasource.
    1. Double click and open the datasource in your project.
    2. Click on the credentials tab, and click on option button 'Use this username and password'
    3. Enter the username and password to connect to the datasource
    4. Deploy or upload the datasource to the report server and try accessing the reports.
    Hope this helps.
Please click "Mark as Answer" if this resolves your problem or "Vote as Helpful" if you find it helpful.

    Hi,
This is Sathish, I am trying to create a report and retrieve data through stored procedure using ODBC Connection. When connecting to the Stored Procedure it is showing Database Connection Error 42000:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for oracle] Syntax error or access violation' Error.
    CRXI R2, Oracle 9i.
What do i do to solve this issue.
    Regards,
    Sathish

    Hi Satish
It could be an issue with the driver.
You can try with the OLEDB n Oracle native connection to test if the issue persists.
Also you can refer to the [Troubleshooting Database Connectivity for Crystal Reports|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/d05b3bb7-0f28-2c10-4ea3-84dbdc4e414e&overridelayout=true]

  • Errors when installing Oracle ODBC driver

I've been trying to install the Oracle ODBC driver version 9.2 but each and every time I tried I am getting the following error messages that are preventing the Universal Installer to install it:
There was an error loading the following libraries:
    areasQueries
After I hit ok, another message pops:
There was an error loading the following libraries:
    WindowGeneralQueries
Does anyone have an idea on how to resolve this problem? I tried downloading from the otn web site various 9.2 releases, 9.2.0.2, 9.2.0.5 and 9.2.0.5.4 but all of them are giving me the same error message. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the JRE but still the same problem occurred.

When you install the Oracle client, a base version of the Oracle ODBC driver will be installed by default (you could customize the install not to install ODBC). Before we tackle the ODBC driver patchset instll, I'd like to make sure that the basic client software installed correctly.
    - Were there any errors thrown when you tried to install the 9.2 Oracle client?
    - Once you installed the Oracle client, were you able to connect to databases via SQL*Plus?
    - Is the Oracle ODBC driver on the list of ODBC drivers in the ODBC Data Source Administrator?
    - Can you connect to databases via the base version of the ODBC driver?

  • InstantClient_11_2 error installing/uninstalling odbc for Windows 7 64 bit

I have read other posting about similar issues but I haven't seen a resolution. So here it goes...
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
    InstantClient 11_2
    Installed as Administrator
    Added/Modified environmental variables
Good tsnames files (pulled from my XP system)
First install, I could not see the ODBC driver on the system. YES, I have checked the two different WOW areas - the ODBC driver is not in either. I checked both Registries and it is not there.
So, I uninstall the ODBC driver (using cmd and going to the directory). I get the following error "Some error occured while deleting the registry key".
I then tried the install ODBC again and got the following error: "Oracle ODBC Driver with same already exists"
I've looked at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6423node and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC and the Oracle driver is not there.
Help... where else would it be and if it is loaded correctly, why wouldn't I see it on the drop down?
    Thank you!

Well, I thought having my user in the Administrator group was good enough but not so... I enabled the built in Administrator account and then ran the odbc_install and what do you know.. it worked. Now on to see if I can connect.
Hope this helps someone else with Windows 7.

  • How to install Oracle ODBC driver...?

    TOM,
Presently, I have oracle client version. But there no Oracle ODBC driver in my PC. But, I want to install only Oracle ODBC driver in my PC for ODBC Connectivity purpose.
How to install & where can get the source?

I found out the real answer!!!
On another thread there was a link to the client 10g installation. I download that 480Meg monster. Unzipped the package and launced the setup.exe.
You can then install just the ODBC using the custom option. But, it will not install the tnsnames.ora file. If you have ever done this from a VB app, copy the tsnnames.ora over to the \network\admin folder. It's usually under the oracle\product\client\10.0.2\ folder. Once installed you can launch the ODBC administer either from the link Oracle installs or from the control panel.
Next, you need to make sure the folders where the .dll file is readable to the iis. Change the folder to add whatever permission group you use for iis (I happen to have setup a local users group {machinename\users}. Add them to the entire folder structure (check the embedded folders to ensure they are readable).
While setting up the ODBC, the TSN names will now be listed from the tsnnames.ora file (if properly located). To make the connection work, the userid should be 'userid;pwd=password'. Otherwise the connection failed for me.
Now, if your connection works okay from the odbc test connection, it will probably fail if accessing through iis (like from a .asp page). There are environment path variables that need to be set. Reboot the server for them to get set. Otherwise you will get a ODBC driver can not be loaded do to system error 1114 message.

  • Download and installing oracle odbc driver alone

    Hi all,
I wanted to find out if I can download just the oracle odbc driver and install in without actually installing oracle database or client version on windows PC.
    thank you

You will need to have some Oracle software on your machine for the Oracle ODBC driver to function.
If you can use the 10g client, you can install the 10g Instant Client and the ODBC driver. The Instant Client is a minimal set of libraries that allow components like the Oracle ODBC driver to work. The 10g client, though, is not certified to connect to databases earlier than 8.1.7.
If you have to use an earlier version, you have to install the full Oracle client, which is not a small install, to be able to use the Oracle ODBC driver.

  • Installing Oracle ODBC driver from within another installation

My application requires ODBC driver. Is it possible/recommended
to install the driver from within my installation program (other
than invokig the ODBC's setup program)? If so, what are the
files that need to be installed, the registry entries that need
to be updated and other activities perfromed?
    Thanks
    Michael

In order for the ODBC driver to function properly, the Oracle
client must have been installed on the user's machine. If the
Oracle client has been successfully installed, users will have
    the Oracle ODBC driver.
Since the Oracle client install is very large as installers
go, you probably don't want to package this with your app. In
addition, the Oracle client installation is pretty significant
in terms of what it does, so you definitely don't want to try to
replicate that work in your installer.

  • System Error 1114 from ODBC driver in Oracle XE Client

    Hello,
I am running into some problems connecting to our Oracle 10.1.0.2 database through the ODBC driver supplied with the Oracle XE Client. I set up a DSN, and the test was successful. I can get to the database using that DSN to import data into MS Access, but when I am having problems when I try to connect using a program I have written.
On the first connection, I use the following connection string:
    DSN=orcl-xe
and I get the following response:
[28000] [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01005: null password given; logon denied
which makes sense given that no password was provided.
On the second connection attempt, the user has entered an ID and password, and I use the following connection string:
    DSN=orcl-xe;UID=mapper;PWD=brock01
This connection attempt, and subsequent attempts, result in the following error:
IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114 (Oracle in XEClient)
The driver was loaded and responded to my first connection attempt, so I don't understand why the second attempt would fail like this. After the first attempt fails, my program frees the various environment and connection handles, so there shouldn't be any resource issues.
Can someone tell me what system error 1114 means? I saw some information in another forum that indicated that a DLL might be missing, but I've got C:\XEClient\bin as the first entry in my path, and the ORACLE_HOME environment variable is pointing to the correct directory. As far as I know, all of the required runtime DLLs are available in the path.
    Thanks,
    Bob

I have been developing an Excel application using the Oracle XE client. At first, it created an ADO connection, from which I opened a record set. After this, it created several new QueryTables. This worked great.
Later, among other things, I needed to reverse the order of those connections. After two weeks of wasted time, I finally realized that was why I started getting the "Specified driver..." error. If I used a file that created the connections in the original order, it worked. If I left Excel open, the file that had the connections in the opposite order also worked. However, if I closed Excel and then tried the file that had them in the "bad" order first, it failed.
Somehow, just having created an ADO connection, even in a different file, even closing it and destroying the object, Excel remembered it and knew how to create the QueryTables. By the way, before I realized how to work around it, I noticed that I could create QueryTables in the front end and browse the data through Microsoft Query, but it would fail with the error when I tried to bring the data into a worksheet.
My workaround was to open an ADO connection, close it, and destroy the object BEFORE trying to create the QueryTables. It works, but I can't believe the time I had to waste getting there.

IIRC this file, sasl32.dll, should get installed onto %WINDIR%\system32 when you install DS5.2 windows version.
You may run WinZIP and File/Open "d52diu.zip" (DS5.2 zip image) and look for "nsbasesys.zip", double click to Open it and you should find "sasl32.dll" there.
