Error Installing Cloud Acrobat-Config.msi access

I am a Creative Cloud member and am having trouble installing Acrobat X Pro.  The following is a sample error.
Exit Code: 6 Please see specific errors and warnings below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DW050 ...   -------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------  - 0 fatal error(s), 3 error(s), 0 warning(s)    ----------- Payload: {AC76BA86-1033-F400-7760-000000000005} Acrobat Professional 10.0.0.0 ----------- ERROR: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\4755a83.rbf.   Verify that you have access to that directory.  ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Fatal error during installation. Usually when I get such an error, I open the Config.msi directory and that verifies that I have
access, but it's not working in this case.

  • Cannot install itunes 10.7 access to config.msi message error writiting to c://config.msi/155b7cb.rbf. verify if you have access to this directory

Ok so I'm not a regular doofus, but I can't seem to install itunes 10.7!
I have tried to install through iTunes and it has an error, I therefore tried to install manually and get the following error message...
error writiting to c://config.msi/155b7cb.rbf. verify if you have access to this directory
I have no idea what the problem is! Please help!!!
    THANKYOU in advance!

Doublechecking before proceeding. Do you have Kaspersky security software installed on the PC? (There's been a couple of reports of this in recent times being associated with Kaspersky interfering with the installs.)

  • Error writing to C:\Config.Msi\*****.rbf

I'm trying to install iTunes 10.5 in Windows 7 (64-bit) but each time I attempt to do so, I end up with an error which says "Error writing to C:\Config.msi\***.rbf".
I've tried a few different fixes but nothing has worked. Changing the read-only permissions on the c:\config.msi folder doesn't work, nor does changing permissions on c:\temp.
Anybody have any ideas on why this is happening?

I had this exact same problem just now, trying to upgrade to 10.7.
I even got that error msg when trying to UNINSTALL iTunes!
After hours of frustration trying everyone's different suggestions, I downloaded Revo Uninstaller http://www.cnet.com.au/apps/revo-uninstaller-10610875/ which solved the problem.
Use it to help uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    1. iTunes
    2. QuickTime
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Bonjour
    6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Then you can install iTunes from scratch.

You will need to have a look at the log files.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/mac.html#troubleshooting
    16.8   Troubleshooting
    16.8.1   Logging
There are two primary logs: one for the installer application and one for the Updater which is responsible for detecting and downloading updates as well as invoking the installer.
    16.8.1.1   Install log
Apple’s Installer.app creates an install log that should contain all basic success and failure details. The file is located at /private/var/log/install.log created by Apple’s Installer.app.
By default, the installer logs only necessary information in installer log. However, it is possible to configure the log to provide debug output for 10.x and later products.
To set this preference, do the following:
Go to Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/(version) or create it if it doesn’t exist.
Open com.adobe.acrobat.InstallerOverrides.plist or create it if it doesn’t exist.
    Create following key-value pair: AcroPatchLogLevel:debug
    debug logging<key>AcroPatchLogLevel</key> <value>debug</value>
    Save and close the file.
    16.8.1.2   Updater log
The Updater creates a log at Users/<user name>/Library/Logs/Adobe/{application name} Updater.log. By default, it provides non-verbose output. To change the default:
    Go to Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences.
    Open to com.adobe.ARM.plist.
Note Create the file if it does not exist. The file will not exist unless the Updater has run at least once.
Create a new key if it does not exist: LogLevel.
    Set LogLevel:
    Brief: -int 0
    Verbose: -int 1
    Save and close the file.
The log size limit is as follows: If an existing log is bigger than 1 MB, the Updater truncates the log. Old log files are backed up once as Adobe Acrobat/Reader Updater-old.log and overwrites any existing old.log.

  • Installation & update error : config.msi\PTA9D.tmp doesn't exist

    Hi,
I have this recurrent error telling me C:\config.msi\PTA9D.tmp doesn't exist, I tried to install the new vesion instead of just updating but it doesn't work.
My actual version is reader 10.1.2 french installed the 01/13/12
    Thanks a lot

    What is your Windows version?
Can you try to right-click on the downloaded installer, then select Run as Administrator.
If that still does not do the trick, can you try downloading the MSI installer (10.1.0, French version) from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.0/fr_FR/AdbeRdr1010_fr_FR.msi
then run the update patch http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.3/misc/AdbeRdrUpd1013.msp

I got a message to update Adobe Acrobat X and the update fails with this message: "Error writing to C:\Config.Msi\PF6525.tmp" Verify that you have access to that directory". I installed this trial yesterday...how can I get it to update properly?

I have the same issue... Has anyone found a fix for this issue? Thanks.

  • Config.msi and folder permission preventing Installation

Please help - i have been using iTunes for many years and i was extremely happy with the product unitl recently. I tried to update the version of iTunes but it returned an error and asked me to download the manual version. this was completed and run (as an administrator) where i was again given an eror - you do not have permission to J:\config.msi Checking the permissions i noted that the folder only had read permisssion, this was changed and the install run again. the same error occured. I check the folder's permissions and it hadd reverted back to read only access!
I went to extremes - i uninstalled ALL apple products as per instruction on your site (discussion post - Topic: can't install 7.6 due to config.msi access error message)- restarted the machine - ensured that the file were not present, then tried again SUPRISE - it did not work - same error! this has been repeated and i am now at a complete loss.
Please help as my ipod is now an expensive paper weight!

I was able to fix this issue. I went into the task manager and ended the msiexec.exe processes. There were a few of them already active when I looked in the task manager, so I just ended all of them. One of them will be tied to the installer you're trying to use, but that's okay, just try to install it again once you have ended all of the msiexec.exe processes, and it should work.

  • Tried installing latest iTunes (10.5.3.3). During installation received error message asking to verify access to "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf". The only option it gives is "try again" or "cancel". No choice but to cancel installation. Any suggestions?

The problem started when my current iTunes kept popping up a window stating that my Auto Run was turned off. (which means iTunes will not be able to recognize when a CD is inserted or ejected). It asked if I wanted iTunes to run  Auto Run and I select Yes every time (this window pops up every time I open my iTunes), but a second window pops up stating iTunes cannot turn on my Auto Run setting (but it will still be able to recognize CDs) to which I choose okay. A third window pops up after stating that iTunes was not properly installed and if I wish to import or burn CDs I need to re-install iTunes, except that I can import CDs since I did this only yesterday and this problem has been going on at least a month.
To add to this, I cannot cannot automatically update to version 10.5.3. (I don't recall which problem came first, my Auto Run problem or the fact that my iTunes can't update). iTunes suggested that I manually install the update, so I went to the apple site and tried manually installing the latest iTunes (10.5.3). However, during the installation process I received an error message. It asked me to verify access to "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf". The only option it gives is "try again" or "cancel". I tried hitting Try again a few times but the same error message popped up, so I had no choice but to cancel the installation. Afterwards, I tried searching in my C drive but could not find "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf"
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can update my iTunes?

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

    Hi Berriedale,
Please try the below steps and check.
Turn off any antivirus or software security program.
Download the update patch 11.0.10 manually from the below link and run it.

  • Problem installing itunes- error writing to file C:\Config.Msi\1c16cb7e.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory. Help!!

Every time I try to update itunes i get an error that says: error writing to file C:\Config.Msi\1c16cb7e.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory.
I've tried uninstalling and I the same error. Help!

Are you running Kaspersky security software on that PC? (There's been a few reports in recent times of Kaspersky interfering with iTunes installs, with that message being produced.)
If there is Kaspersky on board, we should try some general-principles getting-past-security-software-interference troubleshooting.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit installer file) or iTunes64Setup.exe to your Hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Any better luck with the security software shut down?

  • Error 1310 while installing itunes, config.msi folder missing, Vista home edition.

I get the following error when installing itunes 10.5.3 on my Windows Vista 32Bit premium home edition:
Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\4361d.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory.
I cannot find the folder mentioned above.

I have the same problem. I've tried tons of ways to solve that. Finally I suceed today.
I closed all the antivirus and computer/device backup programs and elevate the pession of Config.Msi folder to the current user (by right clicking the folder, add the name of current account under security tab).
Then I reinstalled the updates, it worked fine.
I think one of those methods may be enough to solve the problem, but I'm not sure which is.
