Error installing CS3 on Win7

Hey. I am trying to install CS3 Web Premium on a Windows 7 machine we just bought from Dell.
The installer installs the shared components and Acrobat 8 but fails at everything else. I have tried turning off UAC, the firewall and running the installer in comparability mode and as administrator.
Windows event viewer shows this error from the installer:
Product: Adobe Version Cue CS3 Client -- Error 1920.Service ##Id_String1.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B879762## (Bonjour Service) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I have installed it on another Win7 machine without issue. (Though that was a scratch built with a retail Win7 install rather then a per-installed machine.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

try cleaning and then reinstalling per Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
p.s. right click the setup/installation file and click 'run as administrator'.

  • Critical Error installing CS3 on Win7 64bit

    Hi all,
I've combed through the forums and tried every fix that I've read, however nothing has worked.  I've just been given a new work laptop with a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise Edition running SP1.  Full administrator privledges.
I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 straight from the DVD, so no updates, patches, etc.
After running either the autorun or directly setup.exe within the Adobe CS3 folder, the Initializing Adobe Photoshop CS3 bar makes it between 80-90% before jumping to the Loading Setup screen where I'm presented with the error, "Critical errors were found in setup. Please see the Setup log file for details."
OK, the support pages have had me look for "FATAL" (case sensitive) within the setup log.  It appears on the very last line of the 80 mb text file.  Here's the surrounding elements:
    loading page "installationProgress" from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\2ac78060bc5856b0c1cf873bb919b58\resources\pages\installationProgre ss\installationProgress.js

I've used Adobe Cleaner.  I've been through the registry.  I'm not sure where to turn now.  Any help?
    Edit: additional system specs:

    4 GB RAM
Adobe Reader and Acrobat are also installed, however Acrobat was installed well after I began receiving this error.  I haven't tried running it with Reader completely uninstalled.

You do know that it's not supported to run Photoshop CS3 on Windows 7, right?
That said, it should be possible to make it work.
Have you tried running the installer As Administrator?  UAC doesn't actually GIVE you administrative privileges unless you specifically escalate the installation.  Complete unawareness of UAC is one of the reasons Adobe doesn't support running Photoshop CS3 on Windows 7.
If you're saddled with problems running older applications on Windows 7 and really need the compatibility vs. the dubious added protection UAC provides, there is a way to turn UAC off.  But I suggest you read about UAC and fully understand what it does before taking that route.

  • Errors installing CS3 Production Premium

I am trying to install the new CS3 Production Premium and I am getting this error:

I am not sure where to look for this setup log file.

I had a similar problem - the following Adobe site helped after I realized that the "c14ac4070fd9614ffe63f4bb533db2c" in \installers\ might have a different string. it did and when I followed the rest of the suggested actions CS3 installed (on my xp Pro x32 os - not on my x64 0s)

Solution 3: Start the Setup and then interrupt it.
    1. Navigate to the following folder on your hard drive:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\c14ac4070fd9614ffe63f4bb533db2c\resources\common\scripts
Alternatively you can press [WinKey]+R and type:
    "%CommonProgramFiles%\Adobe\Installers\c14ac4070fd9614ffe63f4bb533db2c\resources\common\s cripts"
    2. Locate a file called "ContainerProxy.js" open it with a text editor (E.G.: Notepad).
    3. Go to line 1102 or simply search for:
    "jsonObj = _jsonToObject(window.external.SetSessionInitialized(initValue));"
    and replace this line with:
    "jsonObj = _jsonToObject(SetSessionInitialized(initValue));"
    4. Save the file by pressing [Strg]+S or use the menu:
    Menu -> File Save.
    5. Install the Suite or CS3 application.

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up +en passant.+
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. Do they fail to install? If so, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you?
If the Windows Update errors are also 80070002s, then try the following Microsoft document:
    [Windows Update error 80070002|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Windows-Update-error-80070 002]
If that gets your Windows Updates installing again, stock up on any you're behind on. Then try another iTunes install Does it go through properly this time?

  • Encore CS3 library install fails on win7 64bit pro

    Hi
Just installing my discs from Premiere Pro CS3 onto a win 7 64 bit pro PC, which was my Win X 32bit PC but with all new components except Power supply unit and my Audigy X-Fi elite pro sound card.
    Exit Kaspersky IS 2014.
Premiere CS3 failed to go on though other third part components did.
I then disabled Kaspersky IS 2014 AND made the User Account Control 'off', and bingo, it worked.
So now reboot and turn off KIS and check UAC is off, and proceed, install Encore CS3. it went on
However Encore CS3 library has a red X.
try again select install library, long wait for the green progress bar to finish, result still not on.
Why and what else can I do ?
Has anyone else had a battle installing CS3 onto win7 pro 64bit or just win7 64 bit ?
    Merlin

CS3 is 32 bit. But it sounds like you got that part to work. Does Encore run? I don't think that is the issue; I suspect permissions.
If you are just wanting menus, etc, just use the CS6 download. Don't use one of the links with an installer; just download and unzip to the correct location. The menus were not updated from the pre-CS4 pars (Encore knows to do this), so I suspect you will be fine. I have not actually used the recent library with CS3.

  • Error 1720 when installing CS3 on Win 7 64-bit home premium

I've been directed to the Forum for help as the Support Tech said she could not help me as they only help with CS5.  She said that CS3 WON"T WORK on a Windows 7 machine and yet I have googled and found people who have had it work.  She then told me that they will probably experience lag and other errors once they start using it more fully.  I smelt BS right about then in that conversation.  She couldn't confirm that if I purchased CS5 upgrade that my CS3 upgrade would qualify as upgrade.  Yeah, I'm really going to spend $800 to find out (not).
Basically it ended where I either buy CS5 or go the Adobe Forums for help.
So okay here I am.  Long post (sorry) but want to get all the fact out there.
I purchased CS3 back in 2008 and installed on my XP machine.
Just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit home premium.
Tried to install CS3 and as soon as it tries to install I get this message:
Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue.  Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
Error 1720.  There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A script required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I have tried the following solutions (found on Google), none of them work:
    1) installing in safe mode (with just Windows features in the start up)
    2) redownloading the files to ensure I didn't have a corrupted version
    3) installing as Administrator
    4) deregister/register Windows Installer
    5) looked for update to Windows Installer but mine is up to date
    6) checked that Windows Installer had "started" on my laptop (yes)
    7) used Adobe cleanup utility
    8) used Adobe licence recovery (Acrobat Pro (CS3) wouldn't get past the licence stage although it did install)
Support Tech lady said that no old CS software would work on Windows 7 BUT last night I installed Photoshop CS Version 8 and it installed perfectly.  What I noticed different is that PS CS V8 used Installshield whereas CS3 I am told didn't use Installshield.
So I am left with my new laptop using PS CS V8 with Dreamweaver MX.
BTW Dreamweaver MX installed okay and it used Installshield too - so is that the reason CS3 won't install - it not using Installshield?
Does anyone have any solutions not tried above?
Am I just going to have to use old software on my Win7 machine?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sarah

    Hi Bob,
    Thank you for your reply.
Yes I have tried the CS5 Cleanup Tool - multiple times.  Doesn't help.
I am surprised to hear that you installed with no problems in light of Tech Support being adament that it won't work on Windows 7 and is not supported.
I told Tech that I didn't accept that as there are probably hundreds of thousands of users with CS3 who have installed or tried to install on a Win7 machine and not everyone has hundreds of dollars spare to upgrade.
I only really use DW, PS and Acrobat in the Suite so I'm going to have to save to buy those products but it won't be anytime soon.
    Thanks.
    Sarah

getting error code 150110 when installing Reader on Win7 and there is plenty of disk space.  Help!

    Hi pat27,
Are you still facing this issue?
Do you have any previous version of Reader installed, if yes and it is 9 or above. Uninstall that using Adobe Reader cleaner tool:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Once that is uninstalled restart your machine and try install again.
Also you may try to create a new user profile with Admin rights and try to install again.

Thank you Bturko in the future only migrate/copy/transfer your documents and settings.  Adobe applications especially are not designed to be transferred from one computer to another.  It is possible to recover however.  I would recommend the following steps:
Run the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Run the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
If you need to download a fresh copy of the installation files they can be downloaded at Download CS3 products.
Run the installer and reinstall Creative Suite 3.

  • Trouble installing CS3

After installing CS3 on a new Win7 Pro x64 laptop I am getting an error saying "6 failed components" (I have made sure to use the adobepdf.dll_64 file when prompted.)  We have installed CS3 on other Win7 x64 laptops previously w/no problem.  Upon trying to launch Acrobat 8 Pro I get the error "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional."  However Photoshop is one of the components that did NOT install so I am unable to launch it, and when launching any other component I either get the same error or a message saying that the component is no longer in service, so I have no way to register CS3.  I have followed the instructions in kb400590 to no avail.
    Please help, thanks!

You will probably find that CS3 is not compatible with Win7, 64-bit. There have only been 2 reports of folks with AA8 being successful with the 64-bit system. Most have had a 32-bit system and even that has problems. At this point, your only solution is to probably upgrade. However, at this time I think that the newest CS edition still comes with AA X (that can not be upgraded to AA XI separately). If there is a way to install the items in a 32-bit mode, then you might be successful. I am pretty sure the parts of CS are 32-bit packages and a compatibility mode may be required. I do not run a 64-bit system and am only guessing.
