Hello there,
I just bought my new Iphone today and I'm having serious trouble installing Itunes on my Windows 7 computer.
I keep receiving the following message.
I've looked around the internet for three hours straight and kept finding different kinds of solutions but non of them worked for me, or I didn't execute them right.
So I really really need your help. I'm totally new with Iphone and Apple, and really want to use Itunes on my laptop. I just hope someone can help me or forward me to a solution wich might help.

I'm trying to install iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium.. I'm not sure if iTunes is compatible with it because when I try to install it, it says the installation is complete but it says there was an error so I can't get it! Please help!

I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode. Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed. I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides.

Sorry to hear this isn't going smoothly for you. Try Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. You may have seen some of the suggestions here before but is has taken some users more than one attempt.

Item or object?
For "Object already exists" or "Access denied" errors when installing try opening Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates then checking for Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2918614). Uninstall if you have it, then reboot and try installing again.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Having issues installing iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows 7 (64 bit).

Issues installing iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows 7 (64 bit).This install clobbered my previous version of iTunes. Error message is "service Apple Mobile Device failed to start". Cannot start the service manually even though I am the administrator of the machine. There is obviously some conflict that was recently introduced by a Windows update or in the Apple installation. I have tried removing iTunes and the AMDS (the Apple mobile device service) and reinstalling with the same error message.

Hey there Marylin,
It sounds like you are unable to start iTunes due to this error message even after uninstalling the iTunes application and the Apple Mobile device. I would recommend uninstalling not just those 2 applications but iTunes and ALL its associated applications with the following article:

It sounds like you are getting an error stating that the iTunes installer cannot be run on your computer. I would try downloading the 64 bit version of iTunes from here:

If issues persist when trying to install it, I would try running through the steps in the article named:

Installing iTunes 7.0.2 on Windows Vista X64

Hey guys,
Sorry if this has been covered in the past, I looked over the forum and couldn't find anything on this. However I have a solution for installing iTunes 7.0.2 on Windows Vista x64.
What was happening was that anytime I installed iTunesSetup.exe from Windows Vista x64 it said it couldn't find QuickTime and aborted the install. Well what was happening is that all 32 bit installers now go to the "Program Files (x86)" directory. And the install team at Apple hard coded iTunes Install to look for the QuickTime folder in "c:\Program Files" instead of getting the location provided by the OS ("c:\Program Files (x86)\"). So it blows up when it cannot find the QuickTime directory in the wrong location.
First download QuickTimeInstaller.exe and install QuickTime. (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/)
Move the QuickTime folder from c:\Program Files (x86) to c:\Program Files
Then download iTunesSetup.exe and install iTunes. (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/)
Worked perfectly for me. Let me know if anybody has any problems. I would also like to forward what I found to apple so that they can fix this in the future. Does anybody know a good source to send this too?

When I try to install iTunes 7.7 on my Windows Vista Home Premium laptop, I get the following error message: "This installation package could not be opened. I am never quite sure about these.
Do you remember which version of iTunes you had before and when you uninstalled it, did it uninstall without any errors? I am thinking of visual basic script problems that used to affect earlier versions of iTunes 7.
A couple of things to try, download the installer file (iTunessetup.exe)onto your desktop to make certain there is nothing funny in the path upsetting things.
Right click on it and choose run as administrator.
If that doesn't work, try installing it from another account with administrator rights.

For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\<User>\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again. This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.

No, but you do at least have to buy Snow Leopard. Whether you can run it depends on what iMac you have:
