Error Installing iTunes 7, PLEASE HELP A.S.A.P.

For some reason iTunes installer will not install anything, it says that "Quick time installation was unsucessful, and iTunes requires quicktime" I tried copying and pasting everything from another computer as well and it will not work, it opens iTunes, but then it tells me that the "Software required for communicating with the ipod is installed incorrectly, please reinstall itunes" What am i supposed to do?!?!?!

Go through all the solutions at the bottom of this article. One of them will most likely solve your problem.

how fix unknown error 3 itunes? please help

    This worked for me yesterday.
Earlier iTunes (and supporting applications) need to be completely uninstalled before you can install the new version. Here's the complete Apple info on this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Mobile device application will most likely fail to uninstall, so you would need to visit its location(s) and manually delete the files then folder(s). The location of the folders is documented in this link from Apple.

"This installation cannot be run by directly launching the MSI package. You must run setup.exe."
in Downloaded Installations folder on my computer, I clicked on the downloaded itunes applications and that was the dialog box that popped up on my screen. What do I do? And how do I do it! please help.

hmmmm ... it sounds like you're clicking inside the folder containing installation configuration information for your iTunes.
what happens if you download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file to your desktop, and then run the install by doubleclicking on that?
here's a link to the installer download:

I updated to Itunes 10.6.1.7. over 6 months ago on my Mindows XP desktop. It has worked well.
Recently, on startup, a dialogue box appeared which read: "Itunes was nor properly installed. If
you wish to burn or import CDs you have to re-install Itunes." I attempted to upgrade to V 11.0.1
which ended with an error message and a code 2330. I have abandoned that idea. I would like to
re-install V10.6.1.7 or update to 10.6.3. but where do I find these old versions? Which do I use,
    32 or 64 bit?
    Please help.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • CANT INSTALL ITUNES 9. please help!

i keep trying to install the new iTunes and i am unable to no matter what i do.
ive downloaded the file 3 different times trying to see if itll change but doesnt. ive done some troubleshooting from apples help.
i keep getting the error message when trying to install:
"There is a plobrem with this WIndows Installer package. A program reguired for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personal or package vendor."
    please help me someone...

This message often relates to a problem with Apple software update. So try this first:
Go to Add remove programs and find Apple Software update. Try repairing it.
    Select Change>>repair.
If that works, try installing iTunes.
Otherwise try uninstalling any instance you find of Apple Software update. That probably will not work if repair didn't.
    Next try an installer cleanup.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup
Remove any instance you find of Apple software update with the cleanup utility.
Download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer and save it on your desktop.

Restart your computer and try installing iTunes.

  • Can't Install iTunes 10 Please Help!!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I cannot install itunes 10 x64. Keep getting an error message saying bonjour services failed to start make sure you have sufficiant privelages. I have tried every fix i have seen including disabling my firewall and anti-virus, disabling bonjour service, uninstalling itunes and all traces of other programs, I have a Administrator account as well. I just purchased an iPad and have yet to be able to sync content from my itunes library becuase i cant install it. I am losing my mind over this and would very much appreciate any help. Very irritating having brand new iPad and not being able to sync. Thank you

hi, i am having a similar issue, i cant install itunes on my vista computer, it asks for admin perssions or sumthing, even though i am admin...anyway, they way i solved not being able to install through the itunes installer was, install itunes on another computer (has to be a windows based computer, doesnt matter what version or 64/32 bit) then copy the program files folder for itunes, ipod, and in common files under program files, the apple folder (it has the mobile device support, apple application support, etc) and put it all onto a usb, take it to the troublesome computer, close any itunes related services, and itunes of course (if the old version is still running) then copy it all back to program files. i know many people dont reccommend installing things this way, but this is an "uprade" not a fresh install, all the registry is written already.
i have tried this and it works exactly as it should, even though it was really cross platform, i have a triple boot xp(32bit)vista(32bit)and win7(64bit) i installed the new itunes on win7, then copied it over to xp and vista, despite the bit difference (b'cos itunes is only in 32-bit, the only 64-bit part of itunes is the installer) and it works fine still right now, ipod syncs, everything else works fine
    hope this helps

okay ... let's check on something else if QT doesn't seem to be the problem.
let's try launching iTunes after a selective startup, as per the following document:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows
does it launch without the error this time?
if it does launch properly, could you post back with a complete list of the Startup items that you had to disable? (exact spelling and capitalisation, please.)

Just attending to your first concern in this reply.
    1. It wont play videos and I have no idea why; all i get is a green screen with audio
With a green screen like that, I'd work through the possibilities from the following Knowledge Base document, beginning with the *Disable Direct3D video acceleration in QuickTime* section:

hi! Did you delete that specified file from Temporary Internet Files? Because it's cached, even if you've deleted all your iTunes files, but left that file in Temporary Internet Files, when you try to download the new iTunes, it will look at that file first to save the download progress.
Delete that file, and try to download the file again. Matter of fact, delete all of your Temporary Internet Files content and try.
    Hope that helps a little,
    AL
