Error installing KDE in Solaris 9!

Hello All:
I got anerror trying to install KDE in solaris 9 using this command:
pkg-get -i kde_gcc
It stars to install via internet, everything is ok, when it reach the koffice_addons packet, it says:

pkgadd: ERROR: attempt to process datastream failed
-bad format in datastream table-of-contents

ERROR: could not install required dependancies for CSWkdegcc
Could it be a packet error? I tried downloading the packet in different urls and it says always the same, error, I also tried to install the packet by myself with pkgadd but it gives me the same error, can you help me with this???

Error installing SOA in Solaris 10 x86 VM

I am trying to install SOA 11.1.1.2.0 on Solaris 10 x86 VM machine. When the runInstaller is invoked from Disk1, i get the following error and the installer quits. Any clues?

KDE in Solaris 10

HI,
I've installed KDE in Solaris 10 3/05 but don't know how to make it my default Desktop Environment. I don't see it anywhere. The KDE I installed is the one from the Companion DVD, just in case you need this information.
Can you please tell me how to boot into KDE?

installing KDE means you have the code for the specific UNIX version, so for example there are codes for GNU Linux and for several distributions not for all and not in all versions of KDE...
I know there are codes for KDE 3.2 for solaris 10 but then you would need to compile it under solaris gcc and then you would be able to install it...
KDE3.4 code for solaris 10 is still on development...

Install Errors for 9i on Solaris 9

I am installing Oracle 9i Solaris 9 and the install went well until the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant. It failed with the following errors:

For all of those newbies like me I forgot to set some system settings. Here are the system settings I needed to put into /etc/system:

Install oracle10g at solaris 10 x86 platform ORA-07445 error occured

I meet a problem when install oracle10g at solaris 10.when create database, the dbca display infomation:

10g on Solaris 10 isn't yet supported. It is announced for March 2005.

"No Disk Found" error during installation of Solaris 10[11/06] on HP 6710b

Hallo Guys,
I am trying to install Solaris 10 on my HP 6710b lap top but it fails with "No Disk Found" error.
I used "Solaris 10 support tool" to check my system and it reports that my system is supported.
You can find the report bellow. I am sure that my disk is OK and I am also using "CD-ROM" option in BIOS for installing solaris from my Solaris DVD.
I have also updated the drivers using "CPQary3-1.71-solaris10-i386".
Please help me.

Cant install agent11g on Solaris 9

I do have problem installing agent on solaris 9 64 bit.
I tried tree ways - pushing agent from OMS, downloading agent using agentDownload and cloning agent from almost identical machine.
Installation script start failing on the linking step giving errors about not being able to link. All prerequisites for agent are met.
The third solution works until starting agent.
Agent doesn't start throwing an error:
emctl start agent

I do not know to much about Solaris but this note (the truss command) cold give you a clue what is going on: 11g Grid Agent: Executing emctl Fails with 'Segmentation Fault' on Solaris 5.9 (Update 2) [ID 1140615.1]
Also: 11gR1 on Solaris failing at relink phase with errors like "ld: fatal: relocation error" and then "ld: fatal: library -lclntsh: not found" [ID 848700.1] could be of help regarding the link (lclntsh) error.

When uve got the kde-i18n-* package installed u can select ur language settings in the Control Center from KDE.
Also check if uve got ur locales set, take a look here http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Configuring_locales It's just uncommenting and running locale-gen

Oracle 9i install failing on Solaris 10

Oracle 9i install on Solaris 10 fails at the Database creation stage with Ora error "Out of Memory"
I have a Ultra 10 with 1GB RAM, 2GB swap and lot of space in the filesystem where I am installing Oracle
The oracle release notes asks for increased value for shmmax, shmmni etc by editing /etc/system and according to Solaris 10, it is not required as kernel dynamically allocates those values. It looks like it is NOT. How can I verify?
rcladm talks about shmmax values only with projects. How can I verify that all my applications running on a this box has a higher SHMMAX values and not on per project basis.
In older versions, sysdef could tell us the current SHMMAX values. Is there any comparable commands in Solaris 10.
I am not that comfortable with the rcladm features. Can some one show some examples.
Is anyone successful in installing Oracle9i on Solaris 10. I heard Oracle patch set 9.2.0.5 and 9.2.0.6 is certified with Solaris 10. Does it mean the original version of 9.2 does not install on Solaris 10?

'Net Configuration Assistant is failing" from installation. I tried twice and got the same problem. I tried to run 'netca' from the command line and got the same problem - Java runtime problem. I tried to install patch and could not find Oracle patches for Solaris 10 and the patches are for Solaris 9.
Does anyone have suggestion?

Install DBI on Solaris 10

Hi,
I am trying to install DBI on solaris 10 (SPARC - 64 bit).
I got an error message after using command make
sh: cc: not found
Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target 'Perl.o'
Does someone know how to solve the problem?

Installing Mysql on Solaris 10

Ive installed Mysql on solaris 10 and when i try and start it up i get these errors...any help would be appricated...

I dont' mean to be starting up a storm that doesn't need to be stirred but I'm only telling you what it tells me on the mysql page. Below is the excert.

Installing Apache in Solaris 8

i want to install apache in solaris 8. i installed gcc 3.0.xxx
and apache 1.3.19.xxxx. but while installing apache it gives a error that
./helpers/TestCompile : make not found
what should i do to avoid this error. please send the remedy soon.

It is recommanded to :
- Use the Apache bundle with Solaris 8. Depending of installation mode you choose (core, etc...) packages are present or not.
Check is /etc/apache or /etc/init.d/httpd exist ot not.
If not, packages can be added from Solaris 8 cdroms.
Supported by Sun
- Use apache-1.3.27 or apache-2.0.54 from the www.sunfreeware.com web site. These are already compiled od installation is just made by simple pkgadd.
Not supported by Sun but validated and stable.
Note : gcc, tomcat, openssl etc also available.
