at the end I get the following errors:
Re-link fails on target "client_sharedlib".
Re-link fails on target "client_sharedlib".
Can someone help me out?

Hi,
Are you sure that services this ORACLE_HOME were down.
In RAC environment, choose one of the patch installation methods provided by OPatch (rolling, all node, or minimum downtime), and shutdown instances and listeners as appropriate for the installation method selected.
This PSU patch is rolling RAC installable.
genclntsh: Failed to remove /u01/app/oracle/product/crs/lib/libclntsh.so.11.1This usually happens when you try to remove a lib that is still loaded in memory.
On AIX sometimes the libs are stuck in memory (after kill process), and I use the command slibclean to clear the references lib invalidated. But in HP UX I do not know if you have this command or similar.

Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
Sorry im really new to both oracle and linux ... the following are the pre-installation instructions:
    2.3.1.1 Environments with ASM
If you are installing the PSU to an environment that has Automatic Storage Management (ASM), note the following:
For Linux x86 and Linux x86-64 platforms, install either (A) the bug fix for 8898852 and the Database PSU patch 9654983, or (B) the Grid Infrastructure PSU patch 9343627.
For all other platforms, no action is required. The fix for 8898852 was included in the base 11.2.0.1.0 release.
    2.3.1.2 Environment Checks
    1.
Ensure that the $PATH definition has the following executables: make, ar, ld, and nm.
The location of these executables depends on your operating system. On many operating systems, they are located in /usr/ccs/bin, in which case you can set your PATH definition as follows:
    export PATH=$PATH:/usr/ccs/bin
2.3.1.3 One-off Patch Conflict Detection and Resolution
For an introduction to the PSU one-off patch concepts, see "Patch Set Updates Patch Conflict Resolution" in My Oracle Support Note 854428.1 Patch Set Updates for Oracle Products.
The fastest and easiest way to determine whether you have one-off patches in the Oracle home that conflict with the PSU, and to get the necessary conflict resolution patches, is to use the Patch Recommendations and Patch Plans features on the Patches & Updates tab in My Oracle Support. These features work in conjunction with the My Oracle Support Configuration Manager. Recorded training sessions on these features can be found in Note 603505.1.
However, if you are not using My Oracle Support Patch Plans, follow these steps:
    1.
Determine whether any currently installed one-off patches conflict with the PSU patch as follows:
    unzip p9654983_11201_<platform>.zip
    opatch prereq CheckConflictAgainstOHWithDetail -phBaseDir ./9654983
    2.
The report will indicate the patches that conflict with PSU 9654983 and the patches for which PSU 9654983 is a superset.
Note that Oracle proactively provides PSU 11.2.0.1.2 one-off patches for common conflicts.
    3.
Use My Oracle Support Note 1061295.1 Patch Set Updates - One-off Patch Conflict Resolution to determine, for each conflicting patch, whether a conflict resolution patch is already available, and if you need to request a new conflict resolution patch or if the conflict may be ignored.
    4.
When all the one-off patches that you have requested are available at My Oracle Support, proceed with Section 2.3.2, "Patch Installation Instructions".
    1. im unaware if I have Automatic Storage Management (ASM),?
    2. how do i check to Ensure that the $PATH definition has the following executables: make, ar, ld, and nm.

  • Error installing Patch 9.2.0.4

    Hello,
I am installing Oracle9i patch 9.2.0.4 on a 64-bit AIX 5L machine. It currently has Oracle DB 9.2.0.1 installed.
My problem is that the installer quits with a file-not-found exception close to the end of the installation. The installation log shows that it happens right after "starting install phase 2 of component Oracle Net Required Support Files Patch" and the exception is:
    Exception thrown from action: copyGroupFromJar
    Exception Name: FileNotFoundException_name
Exception String: File not found /usr/share/scratch24/work/Disk1/stage/Patches/oracle.rsf.net_rsf/9.2.0.4.0/1/DataFiles/eelib.1.1.jar

Actually the file was there right before this command. Somehow it was deleted just before the installer tried to copy it and caused this exception.
Can someone provide input on what could have caused this error and how to fix it?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi to all....
Want to ask a problem regarding installing patch Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4.
Previously, i got problems in installing other patch. The solution i got is to install the below patch.
They suggested that i have to install Patch 3038037.
and when I read the ReadMe of Patch 3038037, it stated
    2 Preinstallation Requirements
The following list is the preinstallation requirements for this patch set:
Ensure that Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4 is applied to database instances
before applying the Oracle9iAS version 9.0.2.3 patch to infrastructure

So, in this case, i have to install "Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4" first

So, currently, i am trying to install the Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4...got error that are

2)The runInstaller in Disk1 actually will run runInstaller in folder "Disk1/install/solaris"..
but when i run it, it gaves me

  • Correct way to install patch in Oracle RAC

    Hello,
What is the correct way to install a patch in an two-node Oracle RAC 11g on Windows server 2008? Each node has its own ORACLE_HOME.
Do I have to shut down one Node before I patch the other Node?
Or both nodes can be up when installing patch? First do it on Node 1 and then on Node2?
    Thank you

Typically you can do a rolling upgrade, patch one node, then the next node without bringing down the entire cluster, but as rui_catcuddler suggested, follow the Oracle instructions as closely as possible.
We have found several bugs with RAC 11gR2 on Windows 2008 R2, some minor, some critical. If this is your Oracle version and platform then try to get to the latest Oracle RAC release 11.2.0.3.

  • Error while running runcluvfy.sh(11g RAC on CentOS 5(RHEL 5))

    Oracle Version: 11G
    Operating System: Centos 5 (RHEL 5) : Linux centos51-rac-1 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 #1 SMP Wed Apr 1 09:19:18 EDT 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Question (including full error messages and setup scripts where applicable):
I am attempting to install oracle 11g in a RAC configuration with Centos 5 (redhat 5) as the operating system. I get the following error
ERROR : Cannot Identify the operating system. Ensure that the correct software is being executed for this operating system
    Verification cannot complete
I get this error message when I run runcluvfy.sh, to verify the my configuration is clusterable. I don't know why.
I edited the /etc/redhat-release and entered echo "Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 7)" to attempt to fool the installer into thinking its red hat 4.
But still shows the same message.
Anyone knows how to fix this ?
    Please help me.

runcluvfy.sh will not work on centos because the cluster verification utility checks the operating system version using the redhat-release packag and centos do this with his packages, so you must install and use redhat-release package
Get rpm-build to be able to build rpm’s:
    [root@centos5 ~]# yum install rpm-build
    Get source rpm of redhat-release
    [root@centos5 ~]# wget ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/SRPMS/redhat-release-5Server-5.1.0.2.src.rpm
    Build package:
    [root@centos5 ~]# rpmbuild –rebuild redhat-release-5Server-5.1.0.2.src.rpm
    Install newly generated rpm:
    [root@centos5 ~]# rpm -Uvh –force /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/redhat-release-5Server-5.1.0.2.i386.rpm
