Error installing PSE9 to MacBook Air using Remote Disc

Hi, I'm attempting to install Photoshop Elements 9 to a MacBook Air via a shared Remote Disc on an iMac, but I keep getting this error:
- 0 fatal error(s), 4 error(s), 1 warning(s)
WARNING: Payload cannot be installed due to dependent operation failure
ERROR: Failed to mount the disk image at /Volumes/Photoshop Elements 9/Adobe Photoshop Elements 9/payloads/AdobePhotoshopElements9All/AdobePhotoshopElements9All.dmg. Please verify that the disk image is not corrupted.
ERROR: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: - Adobe Photoshop Elements 9_LangPacken_US: Install failed
ERROR: - Adobe Photoshop Elements 9: Failed due to Language Pack installation failure

Hi Chris,
As you might have guessed the issue seems to be the permissions related. Can you please check if the user account of the machine have all the permissions to access the contents within the DVD? Since you said that the DVD is working fine on other machine so that proves that issue is not with the DVD. Can you try to repair the permissions on the machine?

Installing software on Macbook Air using Apple superdrive

The Apple superdrive I have will not install Office:mac 2011 or iWorks on my new Macbook Air. It plays DVDs without problems but when I installed software discs the icons show but nothing further happens.

Wondering if anyone can advise me on where I'm going wrong..
I've tried to install Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 (original disk) on my Macbook Air, with SuperDrive, but keep on getting this message after the first part of the installation is complete: "Disk error, Press any key to restart" (pressed any key but wouldn't do anything).
Here is what I have tried:
1. Opened Boot Camp and split the partition in half (even tried 32GB)
2. After this process is complete, Boot Camp asks to insert the Windows CD, did this and pressed OK.
3. The system rebooted in Windows Installer
4. Asks where I want to install Windows, I selected C:/ (BOOT CAMP) FAT32
5. Copies all of the Windows setup files
6. Then tells you the system will restart after 20 or so seconds, and if you want to restart press ENTER
7. The system restarts, but in Mac OSX. I've then tried the whole process again, and when it restarts I hold down the Option key.
8. A boot menu appears giving 3 options: 1. Mac OS, 2. Windows, 3. Windows CD
9. I select Windows CD (also have tried Windows)
10. Blank screen appears and says: Press any key to boot from CD....
11. I dont press anything then the message appears: "Disk error, Press any key to restart"
Can anyone help me to solve this please?

Restore Keychain from Macbook 3.1 to Macbook Air using Backup disc

I recently bought a refurbished Macbook Air (early 2014 model) to replace a late 2007 MacBook 3.1 and I am not able to use restore from a backup disc because the backup “was created on a different model of Mac.” I would like to transfer the data in the Keychain file on the Macbook 3.1 to the Keychain file on the Macbook Air. Suggestions greatly appreciated as I am currently manually transferring the Keychain data which is error prone and time consuming.

Try these steps:
1. Go to the Library on your old Mac and locate the Keychain folder
2. Open this folder and select the 'login.keychain’ file
3. Control-click on this file and choose Share
4. In the list of options, choose any of the methods you like
5. After you receive your keychain file, open Keychain Access on your new computer
6. Select File - Add Keychain and locate the 'login.keychain’ file from your old Mac

Cannot install OS on Macbook air

I am trying to install the original OS on to my MAcbook air through remote disc, when i hit "restart to install", the OS just loads up as normal it does not go into utilities. can someone assist me on this.

I don't know first hand if you can use the Remote Disk option with Windows but as of 10.7.2 you can now use BCAssistant to make a bootable USB (thumb drive or external disk) W7 installer with the Boot Camp drivers installed also. Have you tried that yet?

Installing windows on Macbook Air without using Superdrive

I'm ready to switch from PC to MBA but there is a problem. I thought that I would be able to install windows to MBA through the remote disc feature. But I read in the apple's support page that I'll need to have the superdrive to install windows on MBA.
Is there a way to install windows without the need of a superdrive?
And if not, is there a possibility that the remote disc feature will allow the install of windows in MBA in the near future?

Using Remote Disc to transfer Office to Macbook Air and Time Machine backup

Hello,
I just bought the new version of Macbook Air. At the store they said that transferring programs such as Office for Mac was as easy as just opening the sharing folderin preferences on my Imac and new Air and it would be a breeze. Do I have to install anything from the DVD that came with the Macbook Air to enable anything, or will I just, by wifi, start the two machines communicating?
Also, is there any easy way to just backup my last Time Machine backup from my Imac to the new Air, or does this take some doing? Can I backup the Time Machine info while still keeping all of the info on it for my usual work with the Imac?

First, the instruction book that comes with your MBA will walk you step by step through how to use remote disc. Its not just an open and play thing -- you do have to futz with your other machine, copy over security codes to allow communication, etc -- but it will walk you right through it, so the manual is the place to start.
You can use your Time Machine backup by using the Migration Assistant -- that starts right off the bat when you first initialize your MBA right out of the box, or you can go to Applications>Utilities>Migration Assistant anytime you want.
One thing you should be aware -- you don't really have too many options for the migration -- it will copy over everything from your TIme machine so you better have enough room on your MBA to do that. You can select if you don't want files copied (i.e. music) but that is about it. I did just that wiht my MBP backup on TIme machine -- it was about 100 GB and my new MBA is 120 GB. No problems there, worked perfectly.
Don't do your migration wirelessly -- about 100GB wirelessly on the MBA with a fast cable broadband connection would take 16 - 20 HOURS to do a migration. Connect your MBA via the optional ethernet dongle to an ethernet cable, and hardwire that to an open ethernet port on your router -- 100GB will then take about 2 - 3 hours instead.
ANother thing you should be aware of -- while Apple really touts the Remote Disc and wireless capabilities of the MBA, they are for the birds. Invest the 99.00 in a superdrive. It will be the happiest purchase you make for your MBA. If you install your MS Office via remote disc, for example, your installation will take about an hour. It takes 3 minutes with the superdrive. That is the same for anything you try to do via remote disc. Yeah, it works. It just takes hours and hours of your time. I don't know about you, but I have no interest in waiting an hour for a program to install.
As to your final question -- your Time Machine backup will ALWAYS remain associated with your iMac. After the migration assistant completes, you do not have a connection to that backup on your MBA anymore. You will have to do a fresh backup of your MBA if you want to back it up to your TIme machine. The Time machine makes a specific backup for each computer that you own. You can copy from the backup, but you can't reaccess it later. It will remain accessable to your iMac.

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

The answer to your Pages question depends on how, and with which licence, you purchased iWork or Pages.
If you:
-Downloaded the thirty day trial of iWork, then purchased a registration number to activate it,
OR
-purchased and installed iWork from the boxed DVD retail package,
then you purchased either a one user, one machine licence, and will need to either remove the iWork applications from your iMac when you install the package on the Air, or purchase a new copy of the individual applications you want and install them on the air.
OR
you purchased a Family Licence, which permits you to install and use iWork on up to five computers owned by members of the same family, living under the same roof.
If you downloaded Pages (with or without the other iWork applications), then your licence permits you to download and install the application(s) on any compatible device attached to the same Mac app store ID as was the Mac on which it was originally installed.

There are a number of options. An external USB drive such as Apple's Superdrive would be a simple and handy solution. Or you could use Remote Disc and install from your iMac to your MBA via your network. Also, you can download PS CS5 from Adobe as long as you have your serial number: Download CS5 products
Before you uninstall PS from your iMac you should deactivate it on that machine (Help > Deactivate.)
