Error installing WInXP

Hi everybody.
I am trying to install WAS 6.40 and MaxDB 7.5 following the quick installation guide.
At step 21 of 22, after some warnings, I get an error:

The log file are not very explanatory. Anybody has any idea? DOes the installation work with WinXP (in the quick guide it is written Win2000 or Win 2003) ?
Thank you,
Paolo

Thank you for the answer.
I run the MMC. The J2EE is there and I started all its task.
Byt what do you exactly mean with "retry for installation"? DO I have to run the installation from INSIDE the MCC?
I simply re-run the installation with the MCC on and it gives the same error:

• T440P - Error Installing WinXP (ACPI compliant error)

HI,
I'm installing WinXPsp2 64bit on T440P.
I'm using nLite to build an instalation image with AHCI Sata Drivers and when I'm installing show a BSOD with 0x000000A5 error say that BIOS is not full ACPI compliant
When I press f7 on install show a menu to select ACPI Multiporcesor x64, ACPI Uniprocessor x64 and Other.
If select Uniprocessor or Multiprocessor the error is the same.
If select Other don't work because I don't have the driver.
How can I  download the driver?
How can I load the driver with nLite?
Can I update or downgrade the BIOS to obtain its compliance.
Thanks.
Cesar.
Solved!

If you insist on running WinXP in 2015 you need T430 or older.  T440 and newer will not run XP.

• HAL.dll error on winxp install

Tried installing XP SP2 on BootCamp (latest Leopard + updates).Launched Bootcamp Assistant, split equally (i need a big ntfs partition for XP) Inserted XP SP2 install CD (original retail version), rebooted. Loaded Bootcamp and showed me that i have a FAT32 partition, this is unacceptable for me so i reformatted it to NTFS by windows setup(Full format). Then it copied setup files and then upon first reboot a message popped windows root/%system32%/hal.dll is corrupt or not available, dont remember exactly how it spelles but this is standart windows setup message when boot.ini is corrupted. So what should i do to make it working for me ?
I'm a convert, i bought my MBP his year in march. I assume that any newbie may had some problems adopting to new archirecture but i almost cannot use my mbp the way it is advertised. All my USb devices are laggy in Leopard, so i installed winxp sp2 on VMWare/Parallels, in winxp is all working but music making software runs very slow in virtual machines so i decided to use bootcamp. And now i even cannot install xp. Sad, i have a gig soon and i will ask my friend to give me his Asus laptop so i can somehow play my live gig.

Here are two ways of fixing the missing hal.dll
using the XP install tools.
Option 1:
Boot from your CD and follow the directions to start Recovery Console. Then:
Attrib -H -R -S C:\Boot.ini
DEL C:\Boot.ini
BootCfg /Rebuild
Fixboot
Option 2:
Boot from your install disc and follow the directions below to start Recovery Console.
Insert the Setup disc and restart the computer. If prompted, select any options required to boot from the CD.
When the text-based part of Setup begins, follow the prompts; choose the repair or recover option by pressing R.
If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access from the Recovery Console.
When prompted, type the Administrator password. (if you didn’t create one try pressing enter).
At the system prompt, type Recovery Console commands; type help for a list of commands, or help commandname for help on a specific command.
Most likely you will need to expand the file from the CD. The command would be expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ c:\windows\system32\hal.dll. Substitute d: for the drive letter of your CD. Once you have expanded the file type “exit” to exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer.

• Trouble installing WinXP on a SATA drive on K9MM-V Mainboard

I am having some trouble trying to install WinXP on a K9MM-V.  I have put a 250Gig SATA 300 drive set to 150 in channel 1 and an SATA DVD drive in channel 2.  The BIOS appears to recognize both drives, but anytime I try to access the HD during the boot process I get this error:
Verifying DMI Pool Data ….
A disk read error occurred.
I set the CD as the first in the boot sequence and ran the WinXP installation and then installed the SATA PIDE drivers at the f6 prompt.  When I chose the IDE emulation (non-raid) WinXP only recognized 135GB but then was able to format.  When I rebooted, (having reset the BIOS boot order to HD first) the error appeared.
When I installed the RAID drivers, but let the SATA mode remain as IDE, Windows recognized the full disk, ran the format, but on reboot I had the same error.
I’m pretty sure that I have some BIOS configuration wrong, but I can’t seem to figure it out.  Any advoce on things to look for would be appreciated.

You need to use XP SP2 in order to install on BIG drives.
OK, I thought that I would install XP sp1 then update, but I guess you need to slipstream the patch in.  On the other hand, that disk read error threw me.  It looked like it happened before Windows tried to load.
Thanks.

• Error installing windows xp via bootcamp

Hi guys,
I just bought my macbook pro yesterday and I tried to install windows xp via bootcamp and after the installing it says "setup is starting windows" and then an error saying "session3initializationfailed" came out.
I downloaded windows xp sp3 from my university and burn it into a disk.
Can anybody tell me what's going on or what did i do wrong?
Thanks

Greetings Appelonians
I am privileged to have attained a brand new Macbook Pro 2010. I am not completely new to Apple and have used 'boot camp' on my other iMac's have have owned previously. In the process of installing Windows XP on the new Macbook Pro, I came upon a few challenging errors, some I have solved, but others getting the best of me at them moment. I am going to run through my situation I am at the moment, starting with my initial challenge, the solutions I came up with and at last the cul de sac I am at the moment.
The family of errors all evolved with me trying to install Windows XP on my Mac
A) Windows on my Macbook
1) I used Boot Camp to create a 50gm partition for Windows XP.
2) I booted up with the WinXP Install CD (original)
3) Deleted the Boot Camp Partition, recreating it and formatted it as NTFS.
4) Rebooted and got my first error after choosing to have the Macbook reboot with the newly installed WinXP partition.
Error
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<windows_root>\System32\hal.dll
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
windows_root\System32\hal.dll missing or corrupt:
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.
Error Fix
1) I used a Bootdisk created by BartPE and changed a line in the Boot.ini file. Apparently this issue is due to the fact that the Macbook Pro has a 200Mb partition, the Boot.ini refers incorrectly to the wrong partition when trying to complete the WinXP installation after rebooting.
2) I changed the line in the Boot.ini that refers to the partition as 3 to 2 (see bold below):
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
3) This fixed the issue and Windows started after the reboot, remember still that my WinXP installation is still incompete.
B) Blue Screen of Death
1) During the WinXP run screen, my second error popped up as one of the dreaded Blue Screen of Death, as found at the mentioned link.
2) It seems that this error is caused by a problem with an IDE cable or the BIOS in which case you just replace the cable or reload the fail-safe default settings in the BIOS. However, most of the time this error is caused by some sort of problem with the volume.
3) I booted again with my boot disk and ran 'chkdsk -r' and there after 'fixboot' to fix any errors regarding the volume of the HDD. (Fix can be found at the above mentioned 'Blue Screen of Death' link.)
4) Now I know that Mac does not use a BIOS but a EFI and this is where I am stuck.
All I need is to get WinXP installed properly on my New Macbook Pro. I had no trouble installing WinXP on my other iMacs and this has been the first time I had this issue. I do own a copy of Parallels, but I would like to run WinXP on a seperate partition with the option of either booting up with WinXP as well as using WinXP as Virtual Machine in Snow Leopard.
Hope some one out there can assist me, please.

• K8NGM2-FID / MS-7207 - Unable to install WinXP

K8NGM2-FID / MS-7207 - Unable to install WinXP
Problem:  When attempting to install Windows XP Professional (original version prior to SP2 release), the system either hangs after the second reboot (when attempting to load for the first time) or blue-screens at some point during the initial setup (segment fault.)
System Description:
AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3800+ - MANCHESTER (dual core)
MSI K8NGM2-FID nVIDIA GeForce 6150 CHIPSET
CRUCIAL 2GB (2 x 1024MB) PC3200 400MHZ CL3 184-PIN DDR DIMM(s)
400W ps - Sparkle
no floppy, nothing fancy, no PCI cards, stock system
bios ver: 2.59 (I need winxp installed so I can use the live bios update)
I am not overclocking.
Details:
Tested with three different UltraATA IDE harddrives, capacities from 13.6 - 40 GB.
Tested with two different 80-conductor Ultra ATA cables.
I'm unable to get through a Windows XP installation.  I've eliminated the harddrive or cable as the culprit by testing with more than one KG component.  I can successfully boot from a Knoppix 4 live CD and the system will run overnight like that.
Does this motherboard not like UltraATA IDE drives?  I don't have any SATA drives to test an installation with.
I ordered the Motherboard/CPU/Memory as a pre-tested kit.
UPDATE:
Flash bios to 3.4 using A7207nms.340 from msi web site.  Did _not_ solve issue.  Also noted that when attempting to load WinXP in Safe Mode the last thing I see on the screen is loading Mup.sys then I get the PAGE_FAULT_IN_NOPAGED_AREA blue screen.

> This error can be caused by a power supply that's too weak.
I researched the power supply prior to the purchase, selecting one that was reported by another person to work with the board.  I have spare KG supplies that I can test with though.
> Also, can you try with one dimm? Test your RAM with memtest86 to make sure
> it's okay.
I removed one of the sticks, checked bios to ensure system corrected the RAM count, and then started over with the WinXP installation, which still resulted in PAGE_FAULT_IN_NOPAGED_AREA near completion.
> By the way: don't flash your bios with the LiveUpdate utility. Always
> flash bios in DOS mode, preferably using a CD.
Okay, I will go ahead and update the bios with the DOS utility.
> Also, why do you want to flash bios? If all works when Windows is
> installed, flashing your board can cause problems you don't have now.
Often, with a mobo updating the bios will allow windows to detect mobo resources it was unable to do before.  The manufacturer most often ships prior to all the bugs being worked out of the bios.  PC builders and vendors recommend using the latest stable bios.
Although there is something to be said for "If it's not broke, don't fix it.  However, mine is broke to begin with. If I have to RMA this board, I will not be exchanging it for an identical model, or another MSI board.
> Edit: what other hardware do you use? Videocard, opticals, etc.
Video is onboard.  Everything is pretty stock.  The keyboard and mouse are on a test bench that gets used for dozens of other systems.
I have to say I long for the simple standardized motherboards of the past.  I don't mind setting jumpers but I am not impressed with the inferior quality and overwhelming diversity in today's computer hardware.

• Error installing LabVIEW 2011 on Win 7

I'm getting an error installing LabVIEW 2011 Professional:
I found a thread concerning missing MSIs, which suggested that one run setup.exe with the /log function, so I did, but I don't think it actually says anything useful.
I also found a Microsoft download page for WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe, which is the thing that's supposed to be missing. This seems to be an old version of the installer (most recent compatible OS = WinXP SP2), so I don't really feel like installing this on my Windows 7 system.
Help!! Thanks in advance.

Hi Keller,
I'm Jamie an Applications Engineer at NI UK.
It does seem that you are missing some of the necessary support files required for the installer to run correctly, the details of which are available in the KnowledgeBase article here. Did you download the install files or are you installing from disk?
In addition to the setup.exe file, ensure that you have copied the following folders to the target PC or destination folder when creating an installer with LabVIEW.
bin
license
supportfiles
Hope this helps get you up and running with LabVIEW 2011, let me know if you experience any further issues.
Thanks

• Installing winxp on late macbook air

Tried installing winxp
Got Non bootable device error.
Why can some people install windows xp on their late macbook air, but I can't?
Here a video of what I do and the error message I get:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSMgUbRnlEE
Thank you for your responses

Forums = people with problems so get to see those with trouble more than success stories; and yes people dont' come back (some say "got it working" but not how).
And XP can run using VMware or similar products (just not games or hardware native support).
Most of the "non-Apple" crowd I talk with build PCs and really like Windows 7 for gaming, SLI, folding and gaming, or media creation and graphics. There are a few motherboards that have stopped supporting XP though, and Vista SP1 is now on the chopping block (but SP2+ is supported).
Could be the cost of developing and testing, and that new computers will be based around Sandy Bridge, Thunder, it may be inevitable.
I have 4 drive bays, and it is easy to just take a SSD or hard drive from one computer (PC) to Mac and as long as retail and not still used or activated, Windows 7 will add all the drivers it needs and I may or may not even need to use Apple drivers.
XP though residing on same or separate hard drive has always needed Boot Camp Assistant. I've tried and failed and all the hand holding others end with no way around Boot Camp Assistant. While Vista/7 can be installed natively on their own drive, XP could not.
XP support for SSDs, for 3TB and GPT is also more of an issue.
The number of cases where XP SP3 just totally failed to install correctly, where it wiped out Mac partition, is too high to be a fluke or 1/1000 or smaller - so it seemed from my vantage point.
v.Lite is suppose to help reduce the size of a Windows installer. When you do install, there is a 1.2GB file left to reinstall drivers and such; page file of 1.5-2X RAM; hibernation file; restore points; 5-10GB for processing updates, installers and just temp storage. Plus what you install. Windows 7 64-bit for me uses 35-40GB and I keep another 20GB at least free.

• Intel Application Accellerator drivers problem when installing WinXP

Has anyone had a problem with the Intel Applicatoin Accellerator drivers when installing WinXP??
I'm attempting to re-install windows on a perfectly working system (acquired some spyware/virii... want a clean install), so I don't think I have a BIOS/RAID config error.
-The board is an 865PE Neo 2 (rev1).
-I am using the same SATA RAID-0 (channel 1 & 2) which Windows was just running on (and that I have previously installed on several times before).
-Believe I've downloaded the correct Intel SATA RAID drivers (tried various versions from both MSI and Intel sites).
-Windows XP setup does recognize the RAID volume (I can format the volume).
The problem occurs shortly after the drive selection-format process, right after the setup status line reads "creating list of files to copy".  The prompt I receive asks for the INTEL APPLICATION ACCELLERATOR drivers.
This is very strange becuase in looking at the txtsetup.oem, this is the name of the drivers I am using.  The floppy disk is still in the drive, but hitting enter does nothing, even if I put in a new disk.  Strange!
Again, given that my RAID volume is recognized (and formatable) by the WinXP setup, I'm thinking I have the correct, albeit possibly incomplete, drivers.
Hopefully someone has seen this error and can point me in the correct dirrection.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Blue
EDITED for clarity

Assuming you didn't touch anything hardware-wise or in the Bios and that your floppy drive is working correctly:
You should boot from the WinXP CD and hit F6 if you intend to install XP on the Intel Raid array(serial1&2 connectors).
XP setup will then prompt you to put in floppy with Intel Raid Driver and will load the drivers.(this is still before the drive formatting part)
Now it will see the Raid array and allow you to format/install XP. From what I remember, it shouldn't need the Raid driver floppy anymore at this point.
I would suggest that either the driver you downloaded is wrong or in the wrong format. Another thing that sometimes helps is to physically disconnect ALL drives from the computer(HDD, zip/usb drives etc...) until after XP is successfully installed. Obviously this doesn't include the floppy/CD drive/system HDD.
You can download a copy of my Intel Raid floppy HERE
It's not the latest version but it will work with Raid0.

• Error installing motherboard drivers

I recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows XP. When I use the download from HP to reinstall my mother board drivers I keep getting an error: "Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)." in the error window that comes up after I close that message I get: "1800: Error opening file/pathToInstall=FileGet(filename,""). Winbatch 32 2009B. WILversion: 6.09bib." When I do a "Traceback" it shows: "291 pathToInstall=FileGet(fi...instll.wbt)
After I clear my screen of all the error messages the winow showing that, "Lightscribe System Software" is in progress. But nothing happens except the little green bar keeps going round and round and round. How do I fix it or how do I find the drivers that will install?

Most reinstalls require the motherboard drivers at first step.  The chipset drivers first of all. I would wipe the install and try again.   Without the model number it is difficult to give good advice.
BTW: what are you using to install WinXP?  If you use the Recovery DVD set or the Recovery partition, that will also solve any reisntall problems.

i'll try moving the samsung to the ata 100.

how should i configure bios for the one sata drive on the promise controller? i'm a newb with all this new technology.
my plan is to have my music archive on the 250gb drive, developmental stuff on the 120 (web/graphic design, video editing), and windows with apps and games installed on the 80gb
so basically i'm asking this:
where should i plug each drive?
i have 80gb as master of IDE2 (blue one) and i'll move the samsung to slave of ide2
i have my 2 cd roms set on the IDE1 (pioneer dvd master, mitsumi 54x burner slave)
and then the 250gb sata is on SATA4 right now. where should it be?
also, bios settings. as you said i have to set stuff up in ide config, what values should i have there?
and for memory timing and all that... should i leave it default?
and why am i getting stop errors with l1 l2 cache enabled?
thanks a lot again in adavance. i hope you can answer these ones now
