Error instling Acrobat - a higher version Adobe PDF creation Add-On is already

When I try to install Acrobat XI Pro the setup complains "Setup has detected that your already have a higher version product - Adobe PDF Creation Add-On 11.0.01 installed. Setup will now terminate." How can I complete the Acrobat install?

The correct answer is
Uninstall the Adobe PDF Add-on via Add/Remove Control Panel and then install Adobe Acrobat XI.

I wish Adobe had real support.

  • Adobe PDF Creation Add-on keeps installing!

Hi. I have a annoying problem on my Vista computer. Every time I click on a pdf related folder, program or file "Adobe PDF Creation Add-on" installs. Again and again, and all over again. Please help me fix this issue.
    Greeting from Norway
(If you need more spesifications just say so :P )

Did you ever figure out how to fix your problem? I've got the same issue. I installed Acrobat Pro 8.1.4 upgrade and now it continually tells me its installing whenever I:
    1. Start my computer
    2. Start MS Office 2007
    3. Start Mozilla Firefox
If I disable the addon to make PDFs then it doesn't try to install. The installation obviously doesn't work because even if I allow it to complete the installation process and restart it still tries to install again and the software doesn't work properly. Sometimes Acrobat opens, other times it just keeps trying to install.
If you have figured out how to fix it, It would be nice if you could pass on the info.
I did try using the MS Office installation cleaner (another forum recomended it), but that was totally useless.
    Thanks

  • Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat not activated

Adobe CS3, Acrobat Professional 8.1.0, Windows XP Pro: CS3 has been working faultlessly for several years. Suddenly, when I try to print using Adobe PDF as printer I get message "Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat not activated". To my knowledge all of CS 3 should be activated. InDesign, Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, etc work fine. I can even open Acrobat 8 and call up documents but I cannot print to it. When I click on "Activation" in Help menu, both "Activate" and "Deactivate" are grayed out. Any suggestions?

Perhaps you should use this tool:
    <http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html>
The tool repairs the license but before using this tool, have you tried re-booting the system just in case this is a temporary problem?  Also, it is a good idea to create a temporary profile and try using the PDF printer to see if it is working.
If it is working in your temporary profile, then this suggests that your preference file might need to be re-created but this is for next time after you have tried using the pdf in your test profile.

  • Adobe PDF Reader Add-on - IE11

    Hello,
I work in a government organization and we are about the deploy IE11 to all of our machines. We've encountered an issue with how IE11 opens PDF. We want the PDF to open in IE11, and not open a separate Adobe Reader application. The fix we found so far was to disable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, then re-enable. I also want to mention that we are pushing a group policy that does tweak a few settings. Here's what we are doing,
    Pop-up allow list (several websites)
Prevent participation in the Customer Experience Improvement Program (enabled)
    Turn off pop-up management (disabled)
    Compatibility view
Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites - Enabled
Site to Zone Assignment List - Enabled
Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls - Enabled
Automatic prompting for file downloads - Enabled
    Logon option - Enabled
Access data sources across domains - Enabled
Would any of these cause an issue with the Adobe PDF reader add-on? (We are using Adobe Reader 11.0.09
    Thanks

I am starting to believe this issue may be a registry entry in HKCU as I can get the add-on to work for longer periods of time if I remove the user's profile from the local PC and then have them log in to build a new profile...  the problem is that the add-on doesn't always continue to work, it just appears to work for a longer period of time before having to disable and enable the add-on again.
As far as my install package goes, I created a transform file using the Adobe Customization Wizard with the following options:
    Personalization Options:
         Suppress display of EULA
    Installation Options:
Make Reader the default PDF viewer
         Remove all versions
         Enable Optimization
Enable Caching of installer files on local hard drive
         Run silently
         Prompt for reboot
    Files and Folders:
         Left default values
    Registry:
         Left default values
    Shortcuts:
         Removed the Desktop shortcut
    Server Locations:
         Left default values
    Security:
         Protected View Off
Enhanced Security Disabled for both Standalone and Browser
Added our SAN, intranet and domain name to the privileged locations
Prevented users from adding trusted files/folders and trusted hosts
    Digital Signature:
         Left default values
    Webmail Profiles
Prevent end users from configuring Webmail profile
    Online Services and Features
         Disable Product Updates
Load trusted root certs from Adobe - Enable & Install silently
Disable Help > Purchase Adobe Acrobat
         Disable Help > Digital Editions
         Disable Product Improvement Program
Disable all Adobe online services based workflows and entry points
    File Attachments:
         Left default values
    Launch Other Applications:
         Left default values
I then created a VB Script to run the msiexec and reference the .msi and .mst files.  I created the SCCM package and program and reference the VB Script.  The installation works and the modified settings are there, so I know the .mst file is being referenced as well.  I'm still working on finding a resolution and hopefully one of us comes up with something solid soon.

  • Having to disable Adobe PDF Reader add-ons then enabling it.

After updating through 11.0.02 -> 11.0.03 -> 11.0.07 (Not currently on 11.0.10), and before I go any further, we also are using IE11 w/Enterprise Mode and the latest version of Chrome. Also, users have Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.09. PDF's are set to open in Adobe Reader. Well, after updating Adobe Reader with the versions mentioned above, a user will open IE or Chrome and click on a link that should open a .PDF in another window or give the option to download it. When this happens, sometimes all the content can't be interacted with or it just doesn't open. The ONLY way I know of to fix this is to go in to IE, manage add-ons or Chrome://plugins, disable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, close the browser, open the browser and enable the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, restart the browser again. At that time, will the PDF's open properly.
Is there something that can be done to prevent this from happening? One of the reasons I don't like to push out Adobe Reader updates in our district during the school year is because of this reason.
    Thanks

I have removed the "Assumed Answered" status.
But unfortunately I don't know what the cause of your problem could be.

  • Adobe PDF maker add-in for Word 2010 adding strange numbers to headings

    Hi everyone,
I used the Adobe PDF maker add-in for Word 2010 to export a Word document to pdf. After saving the pdf, I noticed that the headings that are displayed in the navigaton pane now contain strange numbers, eg.
    1.1 14BSecond level heading
    1.2 15BSecond level heading
    The above should be:
    1.1 Second level heading
    1.2 Second level heading
It's doing this for all second level headings in the document and when I save as a pdf file, these numbers are showing in the pdf bookmarks.
Does anyone know if this is a known bug with the pdf add-in and if yes, if there's any way to remove the numbers?
    Thanks in advance.

I am experiencing a somewhat similar problem. In my case the unwanted numbers are being prepended to the running headers at the tops of the pages.
So for example, I have some Heading 1 text that says Verifying the Required Account Settings. But in the running header, this shows as 11BVerifying the Required Account Settings.
Unlike the original poster, the 11B does not appear in the text itself - only in the PDF generated by Acrobat's PDF Maker.
This occurs with this document when output from either Word 2007 or Word 2010 and Acrobat X.
    Any suggested fixes?    ...pt

  • PDF Creation Add-on / Contribute

    Hallo!
    - Adobe Software neu installiert (Contribute CS4, Indesign CS3, Flashplayer, AdobeReaderX)
    - System bereinigt mit CCleaner
Nützt alles nichts, der Installer erscheint weiterhin hartnäckig und nervt allmählich ziemlich arg :-( Hat noch jemand eine Idee?
    Gruss, Gonepteryx

    Windows XP 32bit SP 3
Contribute CS4 (inkl. Adobe Air, Bridge etc., komplette CD)
    Indesign CS3
    Photoshop 6.0

    Welcome to the fourms.
You will have better luck finding a solution in the Acrobat forums, rather then here in the Premiere Pro forums.

  • Why does error message occur when "Save as Adobe PDF" is used?

"Save as an Adobe PDF" does not work; it only generates "Error An error occurred while saving the PDF file."
I can create a PDF two ways: (1) distilling a Postscript file and using Acrobat Distiller, and (2) using the MacOS PDF generator (MacOS X 10.10.2 Quartz PDF Context).
Is there a reason "Save as an Adobe PDF" does not work? Is this an issue related to Yosemite or Adobe Acrobat? I am curious to know if other Yosemite and Acrobat XI users have this issue?
    Kind regards, –John
Adobe Acrobat XI version 11.0.10 on MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB DDR3)

Thank you for replying. I appreciate your feedback, Mr. Lloyd. "Save as PDF" does generate a PDF using MacOS X 10.10.2 Quartz PDF Context. However, I am trying to solve an issue with PDF generating with Adobe Distiller since upgrading to Yosemite.
I am curious to know if anyone in the Apple community can verify if "Save as Adobe PDF" works for him or her. If this script specific to Acrobat Distiller XI version 11.0.10 does not function with Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2, I can disregard this functionality. However, if the functionality does work for others, I shall work to find a solution.
My question was asked in part to help me gain understanding of changes in PDF production that have occurred since I upgraded to Yosemite. The following description is the root of my query which I posted on Acrobat Discussion groups:
Using Adobe Acrobat XI version 11.0.10 on MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB DDR3), I have been creating PDF files of music charts optimized for viewing on iPad using Acrobat Distiller XI version 11.0.10. I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10.2). Music charts are designed using Pages 5.5.2 using Page Setup for HP LaserJet 1012 and a custom page size (7.75 in. x 10.25) with four 0.06 inch margins. This allows me to replicate exact content of a PDF file optimized for printing [Page Setup for HP LaserJet 1012 with US Letter page size (8.5 in. x 11) having four 0.5 inch margins] on a  PDF file optimized for viewing on an iPad. The iPad PDF has reduced white space in margins allowing the music chart to have the largest print viewable when looking at an iPad while performing.
I am creating a PDF by distilling a Postscript file and using Acrobat Distiller [PDF/A-1b:2005 (RGB)]. "Save as an Adobe PDF" does not work; it only generates "Error An error occurred while saving the PDF file." Moreover, "Save as an Adobe PDF" never works for any circumstance.
The issue is iPad PDFs no longer have 0.06 inch margins. A PDF file is created, but there is more white space in margins. I have determined the PDF production is being affected by the HP LaserJet 1012 0.167 inch minimal margins. The outcome does not change if I select Any Printer from Page Setup. However, a PDF with 0.06 inch margins is created if I use the MacOS PDF generator (MacOS X 10.10.2 Quartz PDF Context).
Is there any thing I can do to use Adobe Acrobat XI to make charts optimized iPad like I could before I upgraded to Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)? Just curious…

  • How do I deal with "Acces Denied" error when trying to print to Adobe PDF printer driver

Windows 7 64 bit OS (updated)
    Adobe Acrobat XI (11.0.06.70)
I am unable to create a PDF file from within the Windows 7 print dialog.  Each time, I receive a terse "Access Denied" error followed by the display below (the progress bar never advances).  I thought upgrading to Adobe Acrobat XI might fix this but no such luck.  It seems that others have experienced similar issues.  I noticed in the display below that Adobe is trying to create the file in a folder which does not exist (at least I can't see it even after setting my preferences to display hidden files).  I have the hope that, if the folder were present and accessible, Adobe would create the file without trouble.  Is there a way to instruct Adobe Acrobat XI to create this temporary file in a different location?  One of my frustrations is that I used to be able to print Adobe Acrobat files without trouble on the same computer.  I wonder whether the use of a registry cleaner may have contributed to my problem.
What are the best practices for addressing the Access Denied and inability to print problems I've encountered?
Thanks for any help you can provide in sorting out this problem.
    Best,
    Matt

I have been having the exact same problem with Adobe Acrobat X.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and applied all the latest updates.  Every time I try to print ANTHING to the Adobe PDF print driver, the software hangs (MS Office, webpage, or other programs).  When I finally kill the process using Task Manager, I find the little "Access Denied" box.  This has been happening for nearly one year.  I have limped along since I have other computers to use.   I have attempted to find answers on this forum in the past, and no one seems to have a clear answer to the problem.
I, too, was tempted to upgrade to XI, but Matt's post settled the matter, since it did not help him.
I am using Win 7 Home (64 bit) and until this issue started, I have had no problem with AA X.
Where are the Adobe experts when you need them?  Please help us.

  • Acrobat 8 Professional - Autocad - Adobe PDF options

I have Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2, Autocad 2008 and Acrobat 8 Professional Trial version.
when I am in Autocad and do a print to adobe pdf, I am always prompted for the filename and folder where the pdf file will be saved. the filename which is proposed always has the original dwg filename and also the layout name. the proposed folder is always the same as that of the previous pdf saved.
I have 2 questions about this:
1 - is there an option somewhere in acrobat 8 pro so as to permanently propose only to save with the dwg filename?
2 - is there an option somewhere in acrobat 8 pro so that the saving folder is the same as that of the dwg file?
    Thanks,

Spectraflash...I'm trying to load the pdfmaker (adobe pro-8) tool bar in AutoCAD lt-08 I've tried to load them by adding pdfmaker.arx into my cui menus, is this what you're referring to as "start up suite"? I've tried every twist or turn I can think of to get them to load and be displayed but to no satisfaction. I would like to be able to plot to adobe with layers and several layout pages at once, very time consuming if I have to do each layout one at at time. Maybe (and I sure I am) missing something small, but if I have to call my IT department one more time to try and resolve this...well I would rather poke myself in the eye with a rusty screwdriver! They can't grasp the idea of "layers" and I'm to tired to go through it one more time. Anyway you can restate your comments above?

  • Get "client-error-not-possible" when printing to Adobe pdf 8.0

Problem suddenly appeared in Adobe pdf 7.0 when I upgraded to the MacBook Pro from an older ibook. I thought that there was a compatibility problem with 10.5. However, now I have done a new install of Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 and the problem still exists.
The "printer" seems to add normally, but as soon as I print, the printer stops. If I resume it and the job in the queue, the error message appears.
There must be some setting that I'm missing.

Hello lisagig and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I would be inclined to run a repair disk permissions first and if that doesn't help then I would reset your printing system. Note that this will remove all of your current printer queues so if you have a number of network printers in the list it would be handy to make a note of their network queue, which you will see via the Print & Fax > Options & Supplies > General pane shown as URL.
To add the PDF printer queue back, you will need to make the Advanced icon appear in the Add Printer pane. To do this, open Print & Fax and click to Add a printer. Control Click on the current toolbar (next to More Printers will be fine) and select Customize Toolbar. Drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar. Now click the Advanced icon. After a few seconds this pane will become active so you can select the Adobe PDF 8.0 (pdf) in the Type column. Every other column will autofill so leave them as they are except for the Print Using menu, where you will have to open, click 'Select a driver to use' and then type Adobe in the search window. This should show the 'Adobe PDF 3016.102'. Select this and click Add to complete. Now try printing with this new Adobe printer to see if the error has stopped.

No, it's part of the install. You probably need to give many more
