When i'm trying to start presentation services, i'm getting ' -1' error.

Hi,
Try to open instanceconfig.xml file in browser.If you are unable to open,it mean problem is with xml file,might be missing some tags while you are doing changes in it.Even check path that you gave for web catalog.
Can you post complete error message that you are getting when you are tryng to start the presentation services.
Check error message in C:\OracleBIData\web\log\sawlog0

I tried adding the following tag in instanceconfig.xml file and restarted the Presentation services.

Error while opening presentation services

Hi,
Currently we have a requirement that OBIEE be installed on a environment where we have OAS as the web application server. Before doing it on the environment, I decided to do the installation on the local system.
As per the process, first I installed the OAS 10g. During the installation process I have selected the option of 'Advanced Install' as I do not need the BPEL, ESB and others. In the Advanced installation, i have selected the installation type as
J2EE server and Web server (476 MB)
Installs and configures Oracle container for J2EE (OC4J), includes HTTP server with SSL support, Oracle Enterprise Manager Application server Control and the Oracle process Manager and Notification Server (OPMN).
Once I am done with the installation, then I installed OBIEE using 'Advanced Install' option and I have provided the path for the OAS.
Now when I try to launch the presentation services, I get the error that 'Page cannot be displayed'.
From the OAS, I tried to launch the console also and I get the same error.
Can anyone please let me know if I am missing anything like port configuration?

Internal Error when starting presentation services

I have installed OBIEE on XP(SP2) and started all services. http://localhost:9704/em works where http://localhost:9704/analytics gives http 500 internal error. Can anyone provide me solution please?.

I have checked from em, Application Analytics is running. On the command window of Oc4J, Could not create Java Virtual Machine message will appear and also could not allocate memory heap will work. This happens only when BI Presentation Services are invoked. I am thinking this might be some configuration issue but could not localize.

Hi Derek,
Can you please let us know, if you set up the Network correctly? In my machine, I have the network adapter to use 'NAT'. Once, you set this up you can see the default IP which the VM carries changes (something might be 10.0.2.15)
Now, try starting the whole of the services (yes, everything as they refer to the IP most of the time ;)).
Please let us know, if this works fine.

Hi,
I had this problem after warehouse builder standalone installation. Looks like, it modified Environment variables.
Check Environment variables in control panel. I added these values to system path variable:
C:\OracleBI\server\Bin;C:\OracleBI\web\bin;C:\OracleBI\SQLAnywhere;C:\OracleBI\jdbc;
Though, not sure exactly which one helped, but now i have presentation services stared.

OBIEE11g Presentation services down

I have installed OBIEE 11g(11.1.1.6) on my Laptop ( Windows-7 64 Bit).. All the components are up & running except the "coreapplication_obips1"..
Error messages are as follows:
when I am trying to access http://XXXXXX:7001/analytics/ getting below error.
Error 500--Internal Server Error

I am able to access

I have an issue with the Administrator user.
I was able to login to Answers with Administrator user but from last week on words we are unable to login to Answers but to able to login to Administrator tool in online mode with Administrator user.
We created the test user with in Admin consloe and able to login to Answers with that user.
For Administrator user we did below steps:
1. Deleted the Administrator folder in the webcat.
2. Recreated the Administrator user in the Admin consle.
3. GUID refresh
but still unable to login. Could you please help me here.

Error while creating Bi presentation service in obiee(11.1.1.3)

Hi,
Im using Jdeveloper(11.1.1.5) and OBIEE(11.1.1.3)
I created a ADF application in Jdev and when I try to create a BI presentation services I'm getting the following error message.
*Connection attempt failed.*
*java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to retrieve logon token. This version requires a BI build that implements the version 7 SOAP interface. Please verify that you are using the correct BI version.*
does the creation of presentation service in jdev(11.1.15) work only with OBIEE(11.1.1.5) and not OBIEE(11.1.1.3).
please help!

The SOAP interface released with OBIEE 11.1.1.3 is version 6 (v6) as you can see from its WSDL URL.
This would leave one only to believe that the SOAP interface released with OBIEE 11.1.1.5 is version 7.

Error in deploying OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2 BI Presentation Service on WAS6.1

I am working on environment setup using OBIEE suite version 10.1.3.4.2 on a UNIX (AIX6.1 platform) system (which is a remote machine for me).
Installation of OBIEE 10g suite (all components) on AIX server is completed, and ever the BI server and BI Presentation Server (PS) services are running on the system.
IBM WAS6.1 is being used as the web application server to connect to BI presentation server from my local desktop (windows 7 platform).
Both BI PS and WAS6.1 are installed on the same AIX system. Hence, the OBIEE_HOME/web/app/WEB-INF/web.xml file has host name as localhost and port number as 9710.
I am facing issue in configuring the WAS6.1 to support the BI Presentation services. Steps involved in the config are –
1. Deploy the analytics.war file from OBIEE_HOME/web/ using 'Install new enterprise application' option on WAS6.1 admin console.
2. Context root provided is /analytics
3. Start WAS Application server
4. Start OBI Presentation server
5. Access URL: http://nameserver:port/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard – this is the test url provided in OBI documentation.
nameserver is the host name of the AIX server on which both BI PS and WAS6.1 are installed
Port - this is the HTTP port provided in the configuration details of WAS6.1 profile. ( I am not using 9710 in the url, if that is used, HTTP 404 - address not found error is generated.)
For step 5 above, I am getting HTTP 500 error while trying to access this URL.
Error message in SystemOut.log file in WAS6.1_Profile_home/logs/server1/ is as below.
Can anyone please help in understanding and resolution of this error as well as configuration of BI PS. Thanks.

thanks for a quick reply...
Yes even I thought it is reaching the PS, as the error log mentions error with 'SAWbridge'... but I am not sure how to debug further.
If it helps, below is a output of checking if the PS is running on the server. But I am not sure if the PS continues runnning once the service is started.

OBIEE 11g Active Directory Presentation Service Error retrieving user

It was a great help from all of you on our OBIEE learnings.
I recently configured Microsoft AD on Weblogic rather than RPD. But felt like I am in a desert of helplessness due to the complicated and lengthy documents and settings :(
Still when I configured everything and logged in to presentation services using AD Credentials, observed following error!
Error retrieving user/group data from Oracle BI Server's User Population API.

You need a user to be present in your Active Directory Base DN that will be used as the BISystemUser. You will either have to create this user in AD or use an existing AD user and then specify its credentials in Enterprise Manager (expand Weblogic Domain > bifoundation_domain (right click) > Security > Credentials). You will need to set system.user credential under oracle.bi.system map. Make sure your AD user's password never expires or you will run into problems in a few weeks time!

I am new to obiee.
Finished installing Oracle 11g, Oracle BI 10.1.3.4.0, jdk1.6.0-07.
I am able to create new repository in BI Administartor Tool.
Error while trying to connect to Presentation Services.

OBIEE 10.1.3.2 version : 404 error when presentation services started

Hi ,
Installed OBIEE 10.1.3.2 in windows 7 in compatilibily mode
And the BI server and presentation services started.
then started the ocj4 instance and then started the presentation services but it resulted in a 404 error webpage instead of answers.
Page referred is :
http://user-pc:9704/analytics
Normally its a localhost is what I see but this is different.
Please guide me in identifying what went wrong

I have the identical error message.
It is definitely a bug. If anyone can prove me wrong, I'd be interested to hear.
It comes up under certain scenarios.
I have four metrics:
"Sales" from sales table. Normal Summing Aggregation.
"Markdown" from markdown table. Normal Summing Aggregation.
"Test Metric" from inventory table. Normal Summing Aggregation.
"Stock on Hand" from inventory table. Dimensional summing. LAST for time. Sum for all Other dimensions. (You don't add up the stock on hand for each day during the month, you look at your final position)
I can do anything with the first three metrics and never see the error message.
If I try to create a report:
Product, Time, Stock on Hand, Sales, Markdown
Then I see the error message.
I can force the error to disapear by doing either of the following:
A) If I move the Stock on Hand to the right so the report is:
Product, Time, Sales, Markdown, Stock on Hand
B) If I put "Test metric" anywhere on the report, then I no longer see the error message.
There is a bug with the LAST aggregation function. I think the LAST time function would be a similiar sort of logic to YTD, AGO, etc... as noted above.
Given from what I've seen, the only temporary workaround seems to be to add an extra metric to the report or to move certain metrics to the right side.
