thnaks in advance

Dear Samantha ,
Firstly delete the red req from the data target , then go to Monitor, details and find out the record number where you are getting problem , Goto PSA in the menu of monitor and then check for that particular record, Change the value of the infobject to a permitted one. Save it and then reload the data from PSA into Target again , and then take the complete record and give it to R/3 team to change that particular entry in R/ 3 .
Hope it gives you the idea of doing it . Nothing would happen as you are working with PSA , so stay cool and do it .
Hope it helps...
Happy new year 2007.
Thanks,
Krish

• Loading master data : error invalid characters

Hello,
I load master data (example 0PROG_POS) into BW with InfoPackage and loading stops with error "invalid characters". In the logs, the error is due to a special character (in french Ä : a special A).
On BW side, is it possible to solve this problem (I don't understand the message in the help : "If this message appears during a data load, maintain the attribute in the PSA maintenance screens").
My BW is 3.5 patch 7
Thanks in advance for your help.

• Process Chain Error-Invalid characters

Experts,
Value '30102900 ' (hex. '3330313032393030A0') of characteristic 0MATL_GROUP contains invalid characters.
I tried to remove blank space after 30102900 and repeated.
Still giving the same error .
Any idea?
Thanks
Mano

Hai Manohar,
This is a very common problem and also a bug in SAP BW.The error doesnot really give you the correct information.
It should be one of the two reasons:
1.Go to your transfer rules mapping, scroll all the way to your right and check if under the tab conversion all check boxes are ticked. If these are not checked the alpha conversion fails.
2. There are lower case letter coming iny our data. This could most probably be your reason. Go to PSA and check the records. Use UPPER CASE conversionin your transfer rules.
One of these should solve your problem.

• Invalid characters error while ODS activation

I have 2 queries regarding Invalid characters
1) I got following error while activating ODS.
Value 'HYDERABAD - IV COMMISSIONERATE ' (hex. '485944455241424144202D204956A020434F4D4D495353494F') of characteristic ZEXCRG contains invalid characters
I added space (ALT+255) in RSKC as suggested in other threads and activated the ODS.('-' is already there in RSKC).
Above record did not give any error but got the same error for another record.
Value 'SURAT – II ' (hex. '53555241542096204949 ') of characteristic ZEXCRG contains invalid characters
Can anybody tell me why there is difference between in representation(HEX) of same char and which char should I add to RSKC to solve the error?
2) RSKC_ALLOWED_CHAR_GET lists the space as default allowed char, so why do I need to add the same again?

Hi Vikram:
go to RSKC: do a ALL_CAPITAL. then do the permitted charcters in BW(do a F1 and copy all and paste). also, please be advised that add ~ (tilda) and take a closer look at the error you got and insert that there.
hope it should fix the issue.

This xsdfile name is CCTS_CCT_SchemaModule-2.0 but PI doesn't accept "-". But i muss use this file because this file is standart. What can i do for this?
Thanks

HI,
PI doestnt support special characters like '-'. first you need to change the file name as you specify '-'. to remove that and you have to give '_'. then uyou have to impot >XSD file into ESR under ExternalDefination.
i hope this will help you.

• == ERROR: arch contains invalid characters: ','

I been using GNU/Arch Linux for few weeks now. One program I liked for Ganoo/Leenox was "screencloud", it let me bind hotkeys to draw a square then snap a screenshot and upload it to my FTP server.
So I typed 'yaourt screencloud',
It fails to install the 'libqxt' dependency every time I try. This is what happens:

A really odd thing happens when I press Y to edit the PKGBUILD
The terminal just dies, nothing appears, and I cant ctrl+C to escape
Heres a lil screencapture I encoded as webm to show what happens

• REG: Correcting error records which have invalid characters

Hi All,
I had couple of questions regarding DTP.
DTP loads are failing because of the invalid characters, we are correcting the error records from the error stack and then running the Error DTP to process further. now my question is the original DTP is still red, with correct records in the RSMO showing red. Please let me know how to make the red request in to green and maintain the data integrity.
Thanks in advance.

I have corrected the Error stack and updated the corrected records through the Error DTP.
I checked the Number of records which have come to the Table, it is showing correct number of records( i.e error stack data + correct records which loaded in the first shot) but the technical status is still red, so i am curious if i am change the overall status to green manually will that affect the data in any manner?

• Error: Topic ID "Ầ‾»¿#define" contains invalid characters.

Hi,
I have just upgraded to RoboHelp for Word 9. When I compile I get the message:
Warning - HC3033: File RhubarbRhubarb.hh: The Topic ID "Ầ‾»¿#define" contains invalid characters. The #, =, >, @, !, or \Â˚haracters cannot be used in a WinHelp version 4.0 source file.
I have 7 files in the project and there is one of these error messages for each file. I checked the .hh files and there is nothing corresponding to that as a Topic ID. I don't use any special characters in my Topic IDs anyway.
It doesn't seem to be having any effect on my generated project but I'm uneasy about unexplainable error messages. Does anyone have an idea why they're there and how to remove them please?
regards
Christina

To the best of my knowledge (haven't used Rh for Word for a long time) the only solution is sleuthing the elusive illegal character.

• Error: 'InfoObject ZDATE contains invalid characters in record 1 in value'

Dear friends,
When I am uploading data from oracle datasource (in BW 3.5) I am getting an error 'InfoObject ZDATE contains invalid characters in record 1 in value'. There are no illegal characters in the date instead the date field is blank in datasource. There are other date fields technically the same as ZDATE with blank values but they dont throw an error when scheduler runs.
Though when I manually upload the data, it's loaded successfully.
Please suggest where can the error be?
Regards,
Amit Srivastava

You have 2 options:
1. Corect your data for the characteristics that give errors.
Or
2. go to SPRO in BW - Netweaver - BW - general settings - maintain permitted characters.
In this screen, you maain tain any special characteristic that you the system to recognise and accept. In your case, take your characteristics that give error and add to this.

• Error message: Package contains invalid characters installing patchlevel 6

Dear experts:
I have successfullly installed SAP GUI 7.20 compilation 2, using SAP installation server (40 machines, Windows XP sp3 32 bits, latest updates).
I have successfully installed patchlevel 6 in the SAP installation server. (gui720_6-10007878.exe, downloaded from SAP Portal)
SAP GUI is configured to search for updates after 5 double-clicks on desktop icon. I forced the 5 double-clicks on a test machine and the patch begins to install; then informs me that there is a pending reboot.
When I reboot the machine a SAP Netweaver Front-end installer window appears with the error: "/Package contains invalid characters like /*?"<>\" - "Your system has a pending reboot". If I reboot again the message is displayed again.
If I click on the "Cancel" button of this window, Windows XP continues booting and SAP GUI works fine.
Two questions:
How can I avoid the installation of this patch on all the machines?
What can be wrong?
Thank you very much.
Mr.Clinker

1.) To avoid the installation on all clients simply go to "Services -> Configure Automatic Workstation Update Service" in the SAP Installation Server Administration Tool and disbale the service. If this doesnt work you can delete the package on the installation server an create a new one with the same name. You can than patch the package to the patchlevel you want.
2.) Try to apply patch 6 Hotfix 2 and see if the problem remains.

• Support forum message error: "The message contains invalid characters."

when i try to post a crash report in a forum thread i created, i get the following message:
"The message contains invalid characters."
is this a forum bug? are there such things as invalid characters???

This MAY be totally unrelated - but maybe not.
The SiteWare is particular about some characters under some circumstances. I have not been alerted like you were, but I have seen this when posting screenshots Using an add-on to my browser that put's the "Title" of the page grabbed into the filename it saves...
All ASC pages have
" ... | Apple Support Communities " at the end of the title
the " | " (vertical 'stroke') is an illegal character in a filename for POSTING to the server - and there are others
* the file " ASC | ASC.png " is the same image as the 1st picture I posted - I just changed the name to illustrate
What is good for the Finder may not be good for the server or the software running these forums.

• Value 'KIRBYu00A0' of characteristic 0SORTL contains invalid characters

hello experts!
i am facing this error while activating 0vendor. data not available either in info object master neither in psa.
Error Message: Value 'KIRBY ' (hex. '004B004900520042005900A0') of characteristic 0SORTL contains invalid characters
Message no. BRAIN060
Diagnosis
Only the following standard characters are valid in characteristic values by default:
!"%&''()*+,-./:;<=>?_0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ.
Furthermore, characteristic values that only consist of the character # or that begin with ! are not valid.
You are trying to load the invalid characteristic value 1. (hexidecimal representation 004B004900520042005900A0).
Procedure for System Administration
Try to change the invalid characters to valid characters.
If you want values that contain invalid characters to be admitted into the system, make the appropriate setting in BW Customizing. Refer to the documentation describing the requirements for special characters and the possible consequences.
For more information on the problems involved with valid and invalid characters, click here.
regards
vijay

Hi Vijay,
after KIRBY is a characteristic value which cannot be interpreted by BW properply / is not in the valid char list.
KRIBY is hex value 004B0049005200420059
the invalid char is hex value 00A0 -> online hex converter didn't found a ASCI match.
To solve the problem you will need to fix the record in the source. Or you go to PSA -> delete all in teh field and re-enter KRIBY.
Best regards,
Axel
