Error invoking web service

I have a batch job consisting of POJOs. This job consumes a Web Service, the client for which has been generated using Axis 1.3. The web service call is made for each record in the batch. I am getting the below error after the job has run for a while. The time and the number of records after which I get this error is different every time.

The error messages does not tell a whole lot. Has anyone experienced this before? When I googled for the error message, I did get some search results back. But most of those were the questions people were asking. I didn't come across any answers.
Your help is appreciated.

I fixed the issue...probs in SSL Certification...i installed the proper certificate. Now its working fine.

• Error Invoking Web Service Action: null

I am using the WEBSERVICE action in the BLS to access a third party system. I am getting an error during execution: [ERROR]: Error Invoking Web Service Action: null. I cannot find any messages in any of the logs. Even though the action fails, the remote WebService processes properly. My basis guy seems to think that it is related to SOAP incompatibilities/versions. Any other ideas floating around out there? Any other methods to troubleshoot? The external application uses Document-Literal Style web services and conforms to WS-I Basic Profile.

All -
Here is a trace. My remote web service returns an empty SOAP body upon success (SOAP envelope only). Is this causing the Null Pointer Exception??
PS - I am also getting a lot of "WARNING: received an illegal cookie" messages. Is this a problem.

• Error invoking web service in 10.1.3.0.4

Hi, Has any one encountered this problem or have an idea what to do about it? When I try to invoke a web service that executes a PL/SQL function that returns a ref cursor,if the select statement joins tables that are in more then one schema, then invoking the ...XMLRowSet service produces this error:
xmlns:ns0="http://develop/RL.wsdl/types/"><env:Body><env:Fault><faultcode>env:Server</faultcode><faultstring>Internal Server Error (caught exception while handling request: java.rmi.RemoteException: java.sql.SQLException: Expected name instead of .)</
I've tried specifying the schemas in the sql statement with no luck. Joins within one schema work fine. Testing the pl/sql function returns rows and no errors.

Hi,
Can you provide the pl/sql function or the web service wsdl generated from it, so that we can try to reproduce it.
Also, in an earlier post, I saw a workaround of changing it so the function returned defined type as :
type ListCursor is ref cursor return ListRecord
You can also see if this works out if possible.
Regards,
Sunil..

• Error invoking Web Service from Java client

Hi
I have created an ALSB Proxy service and exposed it as a web service. I have created a Java Client the code for which is pasted below:
String ENCODING_STYLE_PROPERTY = "javax.xml.rpc.encodingstyle.namespace.uri";
String URI_ENCODING = "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/";
String url = "http://localhost:7001/Dummy_ALSB_Project/proxy/Dummy_Proxy_Service?WSDL";
String TARGET_NAMESPACE = "http://www.bea.com/servers/wls810/samples/examples/webservices/handler/log";
QName xsdString = new QName("http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema", "string");
ServiceFactory factory = ServiceFactory.newInstance();
QName serviceName = new QName(TARGET_NAMESPACE, "LogHandler");
QName portName = new QName(TARGET_NAMESPACE, "ProcessSoap");
QName operationName = new QName("writeCustNameToFile");
Service service = factory.createService(serviceName);
Call call = service.createCall();
call.setPortTypeName(portName);
call.setOperationName(operationName);
call.addParameter("param0", xsdString, ParameterMode.IN);
call.setProperty(ENCODING_STYLE_PROPERTY,URI_ENCODING);
call.setProperty(Call.SOAPACTION_USE_PROPERTY, new Boolean(true));
call.setProperty(Call.SOAPACTION_URI_PROPERTY,"");
//set end point address
call.setTargetEndpointAddress(url);
call.invoke(new Object[]{ "The Joshua Tree" });
When I run the service, I get the following error:
java.rmi.RemoteException: BEA-380001: Internal Server Error
at com.sun.xml.rpc.client.dii.BasicCall.invoke(BasicCall.java:524)
at TC.methodB(TC.java:67)
at TC.main(TC.java:9)
Any clues about what is going wrong?? Thanks in advance.

It's recommended to use the same verison of client and service.

Hi,
Can you provide the pl/sql function or the web service wsdl generated from it, so that we can try to reproduce it.
Also, in an earlier post, I saw a workaround of changing it so the function returned defined type as :
type ListCursor is ref cursor return ListRecord
You can also see if this works out if possible.
Regards,
Sunil..

• 500 Internal Server Error invoking web service

I assembled and deployed a (PL/SQL package based) web service to OC4J 9.0.4 like documented in a number of FAQs and tutorials. All went well until I try to invoke a function: I already had to add jasper.zip to the WEB-INF\lib folder to resolve a ClassDefNotFound (and succeeded), but now I receive the following error:
With Mozilla and internet Explorer 6, requesting the address
http://localhost:8888/samplews/sampleWS?invoke=getproperty
results in the error
500 Internal Server Error
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sun/tools/java/RuntimeConstants
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:620)
Ok, sun/tools/java/RuntimeConstants can be found in tools.jar (I use JDK 1.5.0_06, Oracle 10.1.0.3 and OC4J 9.0.4), so I copied %java_home%\lib\tools.jar to WEB-INF\lib of the deployed web application, restarted OC4J and verified using ProcessExplorer, which JARs and ZIPs had been loaded by "java -jar oc4j.jar". Among many others, I found all extension libraries, including the two I placed in WEB-INF\lib. But alas, still the Servlet Engine seems unable to resolve the package sun/tools/java/RuntimeConstants, despite tools.jar being obviously loaded by java.exe: the error decribed above persists.
%J2EE_HOME%\log\http-web-site.log contains
http://localhost:8888/samplews/sampleWS?invoke=getproperty HTTP/1.1" 500 3413
The other log files seem to contain no helpful info.
I'm at my wits end - what can I do? Do I miss something obvious?
Any comment or advice is welcome.

Hello,
This class is part of the JDK, so could you clarify which JDK you are using and be sure that when starting OC4J you are using a JDK environment (contains for example javac command) and not a JRE (no javac).
Could you check that and post the result in the forum.

• "Error while parsing SOAP XML payload: no element found" received when invoking Web Service

Running PB 12.1 Build 7000. Using Easysoap. Error ""Error while parsing SOAP XML payload: no element found" received when invoking Web Service". This error does not appear to be coming from the application code. Noticed that there were some erroneous characters showing up within the header portion of the XML ("&Quot;"). Not sure where these are coming from. When I do a find within the PB code for """" it gets located within two objects, whereas they both reference a "temp_xml_letter". Not sure where or what temp_xml_letter resides??? The developer of this is no longer with us and my exposure to WSDL and Web Services is rather limited. Need to get this resolved...please.
This is the result of the search. Notice the extraneous characters ("""):

Maybe "extraneous" is an incorrect term. Apparantly, based upon the writeup within Wiki, the parser I am using does not interpret the """? How do I find which parser is being utilized and how to control it?
<<<
If the document is read by an XML parser that does not or cannot read external entities, then only the five built-in XML character entities (see above) can safely be used, although other entities may be used if they are declared in the internal DTD subset.
If the document is read by an XML parser that does read external entities, then the five built-in XML character entities can safely be used. The other 248 HTML character entities can be used as long as the XHTML DTD is accessible to the parser at the time the document is read. Other entities may also be used if they are declared in the internal DTD subset.

• Invoke Web Service - An unknown error occurred

We recently moved our Runbooks to Windows Server 2012 R2. The Invoke Web Services activity has not been executed previously on this installation and thus no cache files.
Entering any SOAP WSDL into the WSDL Properties fields then clicking Method throws an error An Unknown Error Occurred.
Do not see any additional information in Logs or Event Viewer.
All WSDLs are known to be good and are consumed by other applications, including PowerShell.
Thoughts?
Edit: Tested on another installation and it works. I do not have the option to reinstall the server that is facing this issue.
Moved On

Resolved the issue. Team forgot to install R2. The working environment has R2, after upgrading the issue is resolved.
It would appear that Invoke Web Services in Orchestrator 2012 is useless.

• Web Service - Invoke Web Service not trapping errors

Greetings All:
I am having an issue trying to trap errors coming out of the Invoke Web Service service.
I have a Fault Route set up for SYSTEM EXCEPTION, and direct it to an ExecuteScript service.
If the process I am developing fails, it appears to leave the web service "open". The next time the process is invoked, it will fail on the Web Service call.
When my process fails, this failure route is never taken.
I do not know why the initial failure does not "clean-up" after itself.
I also do not know why the Web Service call does not follow the failure route.
This is a turnkey 8.2 install on Windows Server 2003 running JBoss.
Any assistance on how to overcome these problems would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Mark

• Connection Reset Error, When invoking Web Services

I'm trying to invoke a web service using 'Invoke Web Service' Operation. Its works for 8 out of 10 times. Sometime it stalled with "Conneciton Reset' error.
When retry this stalled action from AdminUI, its works fine.
Can someone advise on this issue?
I have attached the error log for reference.
Thanks,
Nith

If you attempt to retry the stalled component through adminui, it will work. Am i correct?
If so, you can test the following approach.
1. drag a blank component (e.g a decision point)
2. connect a line between the exception of the Web Service Invoke operation to the decision point.
3. Choose java.io.IOException from the eeception drop down.
4. again connect the decision point back to the web service invoke component. (i mean a looping)
This approach was working fine with me.
Please see the attached image shows my routing.
PS: After a couple of days, I tested without looping and it seems to be working. So I removed the loop now.
Thanks,
Nith

• Getting error when trying to invoke web service - disable SSL

Hi
Please advise me how to disable the SSL for bpel.
The problem which am facing is as below
I am trying to invoke web service in another site, its showing me error as
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertificateExpiredException:
Now i would like to disable the SSL for this handshake, so that it wont look for certificates and invokes the web service directly, right.
So please advise how to disable to SSL in bpel (10.1.2) now.
Thanks
Suneel Jakka

The SSL handshake works differently to a browser as it is making the connections automatically.
The browser asks every time if you want to trust an expired certificate, and it also recommends not to. Its impractical to manually check every service call to say do you trust the certificate so the functionality doesn't exist. I doubt any integration product does this. Therefore there isn't a option to ignore the certificate if it has expired.
This makes sence as the certificate is untrustworthy. The whole idea around SSL is trusting the site you are communicating with, all parties need to be trusted. This stops hackers from replicating their site and intercepting data.
If the administrator of the remote site is not willing to renew the certificate, are they really interested in SSL. I suggest they expose a non SSL service.
cheers
James

• Invoke Web service - WSDL error "Object of type 'System.Int32' cannot be converted to type 'System.UInt64'."

Hello,
I'm having a problem when I try to load the WSDL file for the "Invoke Web Service" activity.
I'm trying to create a connection between Orchestrator 2012 R2 and Cisco Unified CM through a Web Services. When I click the WSDL file and I click the "Format Hint" button appears the following error "Object of type 'System.Int32' can not be
converted to type 'System.UInt64'."
The WSDL file that Cisco Unified CM I exported another work tools, tested and working well. In Orchestrator just gives the error.
Can anyone help with this?
Thank you

Hi,
You're going to have to use Get-AzureVM to get your specific VM object and then pipe it into Add-AzureDataDisk. See the examples here:
