Error JCo starting .jar file

Dear all,
I am new to Java, but I try to implement a small application which talks to our SAP. I am working with eclipse 3.3 and I've installed JCO 2.1.8. I modified Example1 a little bit and everything works fine when I start my program within eclipse with run as->java application. I added the sapjco.jar file to the build path of my project. I also added C:\Programme\sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8 to my windows path variable and copied *.dll to system32. When I export my project as a .jar file and try to start it with
java -cp C:\Programme\sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8\sapjco.jar;. -jar Jco.jar
I get the error message
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/mw/jco/IMetaData
The contents of my .classpath file is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<classpath>
     <classpathentry kind="src" path="src"/>
     <classpathentry kind="con" path="org.eclipse.jdt.launching.JRE_CONTAINER"/>
     <classpathentry kind="lib" path="C:/Programme/sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8/sapjco.jar"/>
     <classpathentry kind="output" path="bin"/>
</classpath>
But I can start the java program with
java -cp C:\Programme\sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8\sapjco.jar;. Jco
when I am in the directory with the .class file.
Whats wrong with my .jar file?
Thanks in advance,
Rolf

Hi,
thanks for your answers.
C:\Programme\sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8 containing sapjco.jar is already added to the path environment variable.
summary:
-I installed JCO in folder C:\Programme\sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8
-I copied *.dll to Windows\system32
-I added  C:\Programme\sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8 to the path environment variable
-sapjco.jar is in the building path
-<i>I can start the "normal Java .class file"</i> with java -cp C:\Programme\sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8\sapjco.jar;. Jco
-I've created a jar file with the export dialog. I just followed the steps and selected the starting class "Jco".
-In the directory containing the jar file I tried to start it with the following commands
  java -cp C:\Programme\sapjco-ntintel-2.1.8\sapjco.jar;. -jar Jco.jar
  java -jar Jco.jar
but I always get the message
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/mw/jco/IMetaData
Any further ideas?

Hi Yogesh - when you say "i don't think the file is corrupt, because it works fine in eclipse", do you mean, you are actually able to publish them to a server and test those out?
Dont know your exact scenario, but when you say that you took the sbconfig from another machine and used it on your local system, cant we just go ahead with that? I mean, clean up your code base, and then import this latest "working" sbconfig and start afresh?

  • Error in updating jar file in windows

    Hi...
I am updating a jar file using Runtime.exec() by passing a batch file in it.
While updating the jar file I am getting error like this:

    Thanks.

I am using the jar file in my program. the jar file name is " _ng.jar_ " which is mentioned in the batch file.
The batch file is here :
    echo IQuinox NextGen Upgrade Management

  • Error while using .jar file instead of class file.

    Hello friends,
I created a java class which are referred and called from other jsp\xml and java files. I compiled this java class and everything is working properly. However, I do not want to use class files but want to use jar files instead. So, I created a jar file of this class file by using the command "jar -cvf jarfilename.jar".I kept the jar file in its respective folder .Also, I removed the class file from its path, just to see that the jar file will work automatically.
Unfortunately, I am getting an error:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Component.createComponent(...) Component class not found: <java class path>. I also tried giving the path of this jar file in the classpath. This also does not seem working.
    How to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Ranjith M.V
    Edited by: RanjithM.V on May 11, 2008 10:34 PM

You probably populated the jar file incorrectly.
A common mistake is to include the path that you had on the classpath, in the jar file.
So a person will have a classpath like this: /foo/
And a class in a package bar, like this:
package bar;So that other classes would include the file like this:
import bar.TheClass; And the class file is on the filesystem like this:
.../foo/bar/TheClass.classThen they'll create the jar file including the foo directory, so if they list the jar's contents, they'll see the above (/foo/bar/TheClass.class). But this is wrong. It should start off so that the jar entries start with the top-level package names (like /bar/TheClass.class).
    Maybe you've done that.

  • Error while Building Jar files using [ejbc]

    Hi,
I am building EJB's using [ant ejbc] for upgrade from Weblogic 6.1 to Weblogic 10.0. The code gets build fine but when creating the Jar file it is throwing me the following error :-
    [ejbc] Loading properties file: /C:/dev/MarketingOne/thirdparty/sms/lib/logging.//config/logging.properties
    [ejbc] SMS_ERROR:
    [ejbc] Properties:
[ejbc] - Failed to load properties file: /C:/dev/MarketingOne/thirdparty/sms/lib/logging.//config/logging.properties

    [ejbc] - Either invalid SMS_HOME: /C:/dev/MarketingOne/thirdparty/sms/lib/logging./ or invalid <I>SERVICE</I>_P
    ROPERTIES_FILE_NAME
    [ejbc] at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method)
[ejbc] please set SMS_HOME using -D option at JVM start up.
Can anybody provide me with a solution for this as the path mentioned for SMS Logging.properties file is correct..??

Actually the folder 'lib' consists of a logging Executable Jar file and the SMS folder consists of 'config' and 'lib' folders. Inside the 'config folder is a logging.properties file.
But Actually I am not getting any idea as to from where this command is being triggered because my targets.xml file does not have any such command whereas it just builds all the files and then creates the jar file.
Is it a problem of using EJB 2.0 in Weblogic 10.0 environment or jdk1.5..??

  • Error deploying to .jar file

    Hi everyone,
I am forms developer and as such i am a completly clueless as to how to do some basic things in this new tool i am trying to learn.
As a start, i am building some simple ADF/Swing applications, everything goes fine until i reach the point when i want to deploy my little proyect. Here's what i have been doing based on what help i could find in this forum. Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english.
    1) Create a deployment profile, i select all the dependencies using the "Dependency Analisis" option under file groups. Question: regarding the long list of dependencies shown in this section, is it necesary to include all the libraries listed? if i include everything the resulting jar file is 120Mb in size, and that is for a very simple form. Is this normal/correct.?
    2) After the jar is deployed i try to run it with "java -jar xxx.jar" but i get the following exceptions: It seems to be related to the manifest file, and i find it very weird that, when i look in the jar file, there are TWO manifest.mf under the same META-INF folder, one is all uppercase and is quite small, the second is lowercase and quite large in size. I dont know if this is what's causing the problem and i cant find any other person that is having this same issue.
    The error:

    Hello Avrom
Thanks for the quick reply, in answer to your suggestion, in fact, as you recommended, excluding the manifest from the deployment profile solved "that" error but... (there's always a but, also, by excluding the manifest i had to include the classpath in the command line to indicate the "entry" point or main class), now i am receiving another error wich is completly unrelated (i think) to the previous one.
    Thank you very much.
    Fabian.

  • Error in deploying .jar file from JDeveloper 10.1.3.5

    Hello,
I want to deploy .jar file in a machine, instead of having to install JDeveloper to run the application (it contains: Web Services and Data Base).
I have followed the following steps in JDeveloper to create the .jar file:
    1) Right click over the project: New... --> General (All Technologies option selected) --> Deployment Profiles --> JAR File
    2) I have selected "Include Manifest File" option specifying the application's main class
    3) In JAR Deployment Profile Properties window: File Groups --> Project Output --> Contributors are selected: "Project Output Directory" and "Project Dependencies"
    4) With the previous steps, JDeveloper generates a .deploy file. It is created in Resources folder. From this folder, I have selected the .deploy file and right click and I have selected "Deploy to JAR file"
The .jar is created succesfully. In this point, I try to execute with the command:
    java -jar NAME_OF_THE_DIRECTORY_WHERE_THE FILEIS_DEPLOYED\NameFile.jar
and I have the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/rpc/ServiceFactory
    at project.proxy.AccountClient.<init><AccountClient.java>
    at project.proxy.AccountClient.main<init><AccountClient.java>
    The Manifest File content is:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.5.0
    Main-Class: project.proxy.AccountClient
I have tested with differents variables to create the .jar file, but always the error is the same. And I haven't found information to solve it. For this reason, I appreciate any help.
    Thank you and regards.

If you are just building a client that access a Web service you need a JAR and not a WAR.
    Ok!
One thing to try is look at the command line that JDeveloper uses to run your client (it's in the log window) - specifically look at the classpath used.
Then try and run the same thing from a command line and see if it works.
Nowadays, the application is running with a .BAT file, it contains the statement released from the JDeveloper console, and it is working perfectlly.
I try to do the same from a command line, and it works too.
Assuming it is - you can either use that, or you'll need to make sure that your JAR includes all the mentioned jars that were in the class path - this is done through the library type file group.
To create the .JAR file I have choosen the following options (JAR Deployment Profile Properties):
    1) Include Manifest File --> I have selected the class that contains the main class (from the Browse option)
    2) I left the default File Groups (Project Output) --> it has: Project Output Directory + Project Dependencies
    3) As you said me, I have created a new File Group (type: Libraries) --> and here, I have selected all the possible Contributors. These match those specified in the project (Oracle XML Parser v2, J2EE, JAX-RPC Client, Commons Logging 1.0.3, Ojdbc14.jar).
    4) Deployment to JAR File successfully.
    The resulting MANIFEST.MF is:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.5.0
    Main-Class: project.proxy.Execution
It hasn't definied "Class-Path", althought to especified a new File Group with the libraries... Is it an error?
If I extract the .JAR file, I see all libraries, and I have two folders: one with .class files of my project and other one is META-INF with MANIFEST.MF file.
    5) From command line I executed:
    C:\jdevstudio10135\jdk\bin > java -jar C:\jdevstudio10135\jdev\mywork\project\project\deploy\NameFile.jar
And the result is an error:
Exception in thread "main": java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/rpc/ServiceFactory
I think the error is because it can not find the library ServiceFactory, but it is especified inside JAX-RPC Client library. What is wrong?
*6)* I have tried too to insert in "JAR Deployment Profile Properties" (in JAR options) an additional Manifest File to merge into MANIFEST.MF, to include "Class-Path" with all libraries's project (the same JAR from the statement released from the JDeveloper console), but I think that it is a limit, because if I insert all libraries the "Class-Path" doesn't inserted in MANIFEST.MF. The maxim is:
    Class-Path: C:\jdevstudio10135\jdev\mywork\project\project\classes C:\jdevstudio10135\lib\xmlparserv2.jar C:\jdevstudio10135\lib\xml.jar C:\jdevstudio10135\j2ee\home\lib\activation.jar C:\jdevstudio10135\j2ee\home\lib\ejb.jar C:\jdevstudio10135\j2ee\home\lib\jms.jar C:\jdevstudio10135\j2ee\home\lib\jta.jar C:\jdevstudio10135\j2ee\home\lib\mail.jar C:\jdevstudio10135\j2ee\home\lib\servlet.jar C:\jdevstudio10135\webservices\lib\jaxrpc-api.jar
The following libraries afther the previous one aren't allowed to include because I think that is exceeding the maximum size.
I have tested to create various MANIFEST.MF with different PATHs libraries, but it isn't work to include in the MANIFEST.MF file all libraries...
    (C:\jdevstudio10135\webservices\lib\wsclient.jar

With this .MF file (or including only "C:\jdevstudio10135\jdev\mywork\project\project\classes") I have solved the other problem (not found the libraries), but it still not working, the error is a little different:
Exception in thread "main": java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: project/proxy/Execution
The path where the main class is: C:\jdevstudio10135\jdev\mywork\project\project\classes\project\proxy\Execution.class
I have tried to insert directlly the following paths in "Main Class" option of "Include Manifest File":
    C:\jdevstudio10135\jdev\mywork\project\project\classes\project\proxy\Execution
    C:\\jdevstudio10135\\jdev\\mywork\\project\\project\\classes\\project\\proxy\\Execution
And with these values, the error is the same: Exception in thread "main": java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
I am not sure if the error is a bug of JDeveloper 10.1.3.5 or it is something that I don't correctly. Any idea?
    Thank you again and regards.
