Error launching sqlplus

I just installed oracle9i client for linux and I run SUSE8.1 After the installation, I tried launching sqlplus from $ORACLE_HOME/bin and I get this message:
error while loading shared libraries:linInstsh.so.9.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
I checked my $ORACLE_HOME/lib and I can't find that file too. Any help please ?

Pls check if you have set ORACLE_SID, and ORACLE_HOME environment variables.

I've tried renaming my catalog.lrcat file. I've copied over my most recent backup of the catalog.lrcat and that didn't work either.

On Mac:
PS - to open the previews "folder" (a "package" is just a "special" folder) on Mac, ctrl-click and choose "Show package contents.." - same way you open any other special folder, like .app or .lrplugin..

Error launching jdev9i on solaris

I installed jdev9034 version on solaris. After changing the jdk in .conf in jdev/bin , I get the following error launching jdev. The error is
Unrecognized option: -XX:MaxPermSize=64M

Solved by changing the common.sh in the <OracleBI>/setup directory, this file holds the JAVA_HOME-path. After editing restart the run-sa.sh and run-saw.sh.

Error launching default browser

I had downloaded and installed the trial versions of PSE 12 and PRE 12 in late November, 2013. Purchased both December 23, 2013 and downloaded both. Did not realize I could just enter the new product codes, and instead re-installed both. All seems to working, but when I click HELP>SUPPORT, I get error message: There was an error launching the default browser. You may need to re-install the application and the Help component. Does this refer to reinstalling PSE and PRE or the browser which is IE9? Had a chat seesion with Mohammed who told me to contact tech support who want me to pay for help. This does not seem right for a new purchase.
Also, since the purchase occured on December 23, 2013 and today is January 3, 2014 I wonder why I am already getting emails that I have reached my limit in Revel. I thought I had thirty days for unlimited initial uploads.

Error launching Office Client when opening a BPF hyperlink

Version: BPC 10.1 NW Standard
When opening a BPF hyperlink, I am getting a pop up with error Error Launching Office Client: Object does not support property or method 'PushActionsbyValue'.
I have seen threads about this but no definite answer.

Please check the if Microsoft office installed is 64 bit and epm addin is 64 bit then the IE should be 64 bit.
we faced the same issue long ago user is using IE 32 bit while office and epm addin are 64 bits.

When I launch firefox on my wife's computer it comes up "Error Launching Brouser window : no XBL Binding for browser". What does this mean? How do I fix it?

On my wife's computer, when she tries to launch Firefox in order to connect to the internet, a window pops up that says "Error launching browser window: no XBL binding for the browser. How do I fix this? I am not very computer literate so please don't use too much computer lingo. Thanks for your help.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Launching sqlplus from sql developer

When we launch sqlplus from any existing connection, it automatically takes values(User name, connection string) from the Connection parameters and logs in with that user, but prompts for password. It prompts for password even when we've saved the password in the Connection dialog. Of course it's not a big deal, but i feel, when it can take the username, it can take password from there too.

There was some discussion of this on the JDeveloper forum I think. Apparently it is a deliberate policy not to pass the password to SQL*Plus as it constitutes a security risk.

Error launching Photoshop from Lightroom

I use Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 and Lightroom 5 from the Creative Cloud. After upgrading to Yosemite I am getting an error launching Photoshop from Lightroom. When I right click an image in Lightroom and select edit in Photoshop I get an error: "Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, Please reinstall the application." I reinstalled Photoshop CC 2014 and I am still getting the error. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Error launching Help in CS4

Just installed CS4 for the very first time as a new Photoshop user. Took the advice to do a standard install. Tried to run the Help functions and got the message "There was an error launching the Adobe Help functions.... may have to reinstall the application and the Help component "
Surely this cannot be right - using the standard install is for newcomers,who need to use the Help - right ? - Do I really have to de-activate/uninstall and do a CUSTOM install ?

SYS cannot connect by itself, it can connect only with the SYSDBA or SYSOPER roles. Those roles are roles enabled by Oracle even before creation time, and those are used to perform specific adminstrative tasks such as install, recover, startup and shutdown, among others.
If you want to perform other administrative tasks when the database instance is already open you may use any other user with DBA privileges, such as SYSTEM.
In order to enable access as SYSDBA/SYSOPER your os user must be authenticated, either from the os (privilged dba group) or by means of the sysdba password , stored at the database password file.

I've adjusted the macro settings in excel and tried reinstalling the epm addin numerous times and up till now i haven't managed to get it resolved. Really need someone to help me on this. In the Internet Explorer, go to : Tools->Internet Options-> Security->Custom Level, in section “Download”, check if the option “Automatic prompting for file downloads“ is enabled
In Excel, go to Excel Options-> Trust Center-> Trust Center Settings-> Macro Settings: check the
options “Disable all macros except digitally signed macros” and "Trust access to the VBA project object model"

Hotsync error: SystemMgr.c, Line:4038, Error Launching Application

When I try to hotsync, my plam displays this error message, and I must click "reset"- the screen goes blank, flashes the tungsten logo & music, and I set the date/time.
I have not lost the info on my palm- I just need to sync it into my new computer.
Please help!

I am having exactly the same problem on my LifeDrive. The entire message I get when I try to HotSync is:
"A reset was caused on 11/30/06 at 1:09 am
while running "":
SystemMgr.c, Line:4038, error launching application"
I also noted that, if I try to access "Files" from the launch window it also causes a reset, with the following information:
"FileRegistry.c
line:833
can't open app DB"
I hope that this additional information might help in recognizing a correcting the problem

Error: Launch Plug-in Failed.

I had to reinstall windows 8.1 pro on my laptop. All my plug-ins were working just fine on PS CC and PSE13, now when I go to my plug-ins as before, I get and error: Launch Plug-in Failed. the program then closes?

Reinstalling the plug-ins solved the problem.

According to the error message, it seems that the Analysis Services account lack permission to access ‘QLTICKET’. By default, the default account for AS services has only public permission to few databases. If you haven't change the AS services account,
or haven't grant the permission for this account, then you cannot deploy the AS project to server.
So in your scenario, ensure the service "SQL Server Analysis Services" is running with a proper Log On As user. This user should have administrator permission on Analysis Services and the proper permissions on the database engine. To avoid this issue, you
can grant the SELECT permission for the default account for AS services to data source DB. Or you can change the services account to this domain user who has the corresponding to the data source DB.
