Error : LDAP Server down connecting OID

Hi friends,
I have installed Infrastructure 10g, When I try to connect to OID it says LDAP server is downand not running.
Earlier, I added one server with name as my system name and it worked and today it is not working. I want to know Where this LDAP server is and hw we can start it.

• Firefox 3.6 won't load properly because of the error "Proxy server refusing connections".

I tried to download Firefox 3.6 but it wouldn't finish loading because of the message " Proxy server refusing connections". How do I over ride this problem? The last couple of days my firefox 3.5.2 has been crashing or locking up almost every time I opened it. It got so frustrating that I tried downloading 3.6 to see if it would work any better. No luck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I run Windows 2000 XP.

Go to Tools --> Options --> Advanced --> Network --> Settings and choose "Do not use Proxy" to see if that helps.

• Status : Failure -I/O Error: DB server closed connection.

I am trying to use SQL Developer to migrate several SQL server database's into Oracle. Some of them are hosted in a SQL Server 2000 instance and the rest are on SQL Server 2005. I am able to connect to the SQL Server 2000 databases without issue, but not the 2005 databases. I have followed every step in several different forum posts all to no avail. Why is SQL Developer fine with the 2000 instances, but flatly refuses to connect to the 2005's? I have zero problems connecting to the databases using TOAD or Management studio.
1. I am having this same issue with SQL Developer versions 2.11, 3.1.0.7 and also 4.0.3.16
2. TC/IP is enabled
2. I am using the 1.2 jar file
3. I have put the SSO folder in my PATH
4. I have copied the ntlmauth.dll file to every bin directory I can find
5. I've also copied the JtdsXA.dll to every bin directory I can find.
6. I know exactly what my port numbers are, and they are NOT 1433.
7. I have tried every combination of connection name, and port with and without database and instance name added.
8. I have a valid account and password set up using SQL Server authentication, and I also have a valid account using windows authentication that have both been verified by using TOAD and Management Studio.
9. I am also receiving the following error trying to use windows authentication through SQL Developer and have followed all instructions I could find to fix it to no avail: Status : Failure -I/O Error: SSO Failed: Native SSPI library not loaded. Check the java.library.path system property.

Before You Start Migrating: General Information
You may need to perform certain tasks before you start migrating a third-party database to an Oracle database. See the following for more information:
See also any information specific to the source database that you will be migrating, as explained in Before You Start Migrating: Source-Specific Information.
Note: SQL Developer does not migrate grant information from the source database. The Oracle DBA must adjust (as appropriate) user, login, and grant specifications after the migration.
Note: Oracle recommends that you make a complete backup of the source database before starting the migration. For more information about backing up the source database, see the documentation for that type of database.
If possible, begin the migration using a development or test environment, not a production database.
Creating a Database User for the Migration Repository
SQL Developer requires a migration repository to migrate a third-party database to an Oracle database. To use an Oracle database for the migration repository, you must have access to that database using a database user account. Oracle recommends that you use a specific user account for migrations, For example, you may want to create a user named MIGRATIONS, create a database connection to that user, and use that connection for the migration repository; and if you wish, you can later delete the MIGRATIONS user to remove all traces of the migration from the database.
When you create a user for migrations, specify the tablespace information as in the following example, instead of using the defaults for tablespaces:
CREATE USER migrations IDENTIFIED BY <password>
DEFAULT TABLESPACE users TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp,
Do not use a standard account (for example, SYSTEM) for migration.
When SQL Developer creates a migration repository, it creates many schema objects that are intended only for its own use. For example, it creates tables, views, indexes, packages, and triggers, many with names starting with MD_ and MIGR. You should not directly modify these objects or any data stored in them.
Requirements for Creating the Destination Oracle Objects
The user associated with the Oracle database connection used to perform the migration (that is, to run the script containing the generated DDL statements) must have the following roles and privileges:
Note: You must grant these privileges directly to a user account. Granting the privileges to a role, which is subsequently granted to a user account, does not suffice. You cannot migrate a database as the user SYS.
Roles
CONNECT WITH ADMIN OPTION
RESOURCE WITH ADMIN OPTION
Privileges
ALTER ANY ROLE
ALTER ANY SEQUENCE
ALTER ANY TABLE
ALTER TABLESPACE
ALTER ANY TRIGGER
COMMENT ANY TABLE
CREATE ANY SEQUENCE
CREATE ANY TABLE
CREATE ANY TRIGGER
CREATE VIEW WITH ADMIN OPTION
CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW WITH ADMIN OPTION
CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM WITH ADMIN OPTION
CREATE ROLE
CREATE USER
DROP ANY SEQUENCE
DROP ANY TABLE
DROP ANY TRIGGER
DROP USER
DROP ANY ROLE
GRANT ANY ROLE
INSERT ANY TABLE
SELECT ANY TABLE
UPDATE ANY TABLE
For example, you can create a user called migrations with the minimum required privileges required to migrate a database by using the following commands:
CREATE USER migrations IDENTIFIED BY password
DEFAULT TABLESPACE users TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
GRANT CONNECT, RESOURCE, CREATE VIEW, CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW,
CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO migrations WITH ADMIN OPTION;
GRANT ALTER ANY ROLE, ALTER ANY SEQUENCE, ALTER ANY TABLE, ALTER TABLESPACE,
ALTER ANY TRIGGER, COMMENT ANY TABLE, CREATE ANY SEQUENCE, CREATE ANY TABLE,
CREATE ANY TRIGGER, CREATE ROLE, CREATE TABLESPACE, CREATE USER, DROP ANY
SEQUENCE, DROP ANY TABLE, DROP ANY TRIGGER, DROP TABLESPACE, DROP USER, DROP ANY
ROLE, GRANT ANY ROLE, INSERT ANY TABLE, SELECT ANY TABLE, UPDATE ANY TABLE TO
migrations;
After you have created the converted model and done first DDL generation done for the new database, it will be clear from the scripts which privileges will be required for your situation.

Hi Peterernst,
Thanks for posting.
Perhaps yes, firewall, and browser popup blockers have been
known to cause some behavioral, and connectivity issues within
Acrobat.com
Users have had success with allowing *.acrobat.com as a
trusted site locally, to see if that allows connectivity.
Also what browser, and OS are you using?
If still in the Unix environment, do you have access to a
Windows, or Mac environment?

• Unable to Retrieve Attributes from LDAP Server

I have a problem. I was wondering if anyone can assist me. I am new to LDAP servers and JNDI. I cannot retrieve any attributes from the users listed in my data entry. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
I created an entry in the LDAP server that looks like this:
o=somedn
|
ou=people, o=somedn
The ou=people, o=somedn entry contains fictitious users. The LDAP server is connected to a MySQL database. When I write Java code to read the attributes of a given user whose fullname (cn) is Vinny Luigi, as listed in the database, I receive an error that starts with the following:

• JAZN-LDAP: Make use of different LDAP Server

Hi,
I am trying to make use of a different LDAP Server (other than OID)-- With OID i am able to authenticate users.
Now i need to make use of a different LDAP Server (For ex: SunONe Directory Server).. I have tried specifying the LDAP URL location of the new LDAP Server in the Orion-Application.xml as below
<jazn provider="LDAP" location="ldap://ldaphost:ldapport" />
But I see that the application is still defaulting to the OID and not making use of the LDAPserver specified above.
Also, i see that I am unable to modify the LDAP URL Location
In Step2 of Deploying an Application :
Deploy Application: User Manager : I have selected the option "Use JAZN LDAP User Manager"
But the LDAP Location is non-editable and which defaults to the OID location as the one below
LDAP Location ldap://OIDLDAPURL:PORT
Could ne1 throw some light on the issue i am facing..
Thanks
John

See Configuring External LDAP Providers @:
http://matrix.csustan.edu/docs/oracle/oas/web.1012/b14013/ldap3rdparty.htm
Here are a few gotchas for active directory:
-if you plan to use the membership of the AD user to AD roles, set in orion-application:
<jazn provider="XML">
<property name="custom.ldap.provider" value="true"/>
<property name="role.mapping.dynamic" value="true"/>
</jazn>
in web.xml you should also define
<security-role>
<role-name>ldap-role-to-which-ldap-user-belongs-that-is-entitled to-acces-the-resource</role-name>
</security-role>
If you run the application in the embedded OC4J it seems it takes this hint from other file that you can determine looking at trace you can make appear with option:
-Djazn.debug.log.enable=true (in jvm start command)
When running in embedded OC4J the application is called: current-workspace-app

Hi Prakash,
We're having a similar problem... I was wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this. In our case too most of the time everything runs okay... it's only once in a while that one starts seeing these errors.

I would like to know whether its a known issue with accent characters or anything else i missed here to handle those characters.
Thanks,
-Konanki

Well, if you're passing an array of bytes to that LDAP access code, then that isn't the right way to encode a String to an array of bytes in UTF-8 encoding. And anyway it's been a long time since I wrote LDAP access code, but I don't recall having to pass arrays of bytes to any of those JNDI classes, so that idea is probably wrong in any case.
I would suggest, if that page you linked to is actually relevant, that you just install the hot-fix it refers to. On the other hand if it doesn't actually apply to your situation, then you should just ignore it.
My guess is that UTF-8 or not, your OU value on the server is in fact not "Administración" -- that's based on the number of mis-encoded characters I see there. So perhaps what you are passing to the JNDI classes does in fact not match the server's value and it isn't an encoding issue at all.

• Why do I get error "The LDAP server is unavailable" while connecting to external domain via sync connection in SharePoint UPSA ?

Hello,
I am trying to connect to external domain via UPS Account having "Replicate Directory changes" permission on external domain while creating sync connection in UPSA.
I have checked below URLS :
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1912bf88-8fec-4b5d-9d1e-a42db8318e33/ldap-server-is-unavailable-sharepoint-2010-user-synchronization?forum=sharepointadminprevious

And looks like its network connectivity issue - and hence I have verified that port 389 is open by infra team.
Note : I am able to connect to local AD , does it make sense that port is not open for external domain ?
Can anyone please let me know what can be the issue ?
Your help will be highly appreciated as I am struggling to fix this issue since quite long time but no luck yet.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Dipti Chhatrapati

Hi Dipti,
If you have Two-Way trust relationship then not sure if you have tried below:
Create a folder on the SharePoint server
Go to Folder properties - Security tab
Try adding user of the external domain on the folder
Please let us know if you are able to add the user or not. If you are able to add then it means that the connection and trust is proper and you should be able to create sync connection in UPA without any issues or else there is some issue with the connectivity
or the trust which is configured.
Please also make sure that you have given permissions to sync account as per below TechNet:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh296982(v=office.15).aspx
Replicate Directory changes permissions are also required on cn=configuration container, below are the steps:
Grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container
Use this procedure to grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container to an account.
To grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container
On the domain controller, click Start, click Run, type adsiedit.msc, and then click OK.
If the Configuration node is not already present, do the following:
In the navigation pane, click ADSI Edit.
On the Action menu, click Connect to.
In the Connection Point area of the Connection Settings dialog box, click Select
a well know Naming Context, select Configuration from the drop-down list, and then click OK.
Expand the Configuration node, right-click the CN=Configuration... node, and then click Properties.
In the Properties dialog box, click the Security tab.
In the Group or user names section, click Add.
Type the name of the synchronization account, and then click OK.
In the Group or user names section, select the synchronization account.
In the Permissions section, select the Allow check box next to the Replicating

Connection.freeWriteSemaphore(-2): semaphore not owned by any thread
Im using this to connect: conn.Connect(ldapHost, ldapPort);
This error is not catched by LdapException. Can anyone tell me if this is
a bug or do I have to do something different.

Hi. I'm using version 2.1.11 of the NDK for CSharp. I'm getting this
same error message:
Code:
Connection.freeWriteSemaphore(-2): semaphore not owned by any thread
at Novell.Directory.Ldap.Connection.freeWriteSemaphor e(Int32 msgId)
at Novell.Directory.Ldap.Connection.connect(String host, Int32 port, Int32 semaphoreId)
at Novell.Directory.Ldap.LdapConnection.Connect(Strin g host, Int32 port)
at TestLDAP.Program.Main(String[] args) in D:\Documents and Settings\tjbuege\my documents\visual studio 2010\Projects\TestLDAP\TestLDAP\Program.cs:line 20
This occurs when I try to bind to a server that does not exist. Here
is my sample source code that generates that error:
Code:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using Novell.Directory.Ldap;
namespace TestLDAP
class Program
static void Main(string[] args)
LdapConnection conn = null;
string host = "server.does.not.exist.com";
int port = 389;
try
conn = new LdapConnection();
conn.Connect(host, port);
catch (Exception ex)
Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
Console.WriteLine(ex.StackTrace);
if (conn != null)
conn.Disconnect();
Is there a fix for this? It makes this library useless for me.
Thanks,
Tim

• How to resolve "Connection to LDAP server failed." error?

Hello,
I have installed Coldfusion8 on one of my server that was having ColdFusionMX earlier.
The ColdFusionMX admin settings are automatically transferred to the new Coldfusion8 admin page after installation.
Also I have configured all my websites at the time of installation.
After all when I am trying to login into one of my website system is throwing the below error.
"Connection to LDAP server failed."
Prevously it was working well with coldfusionMX. After installed Coldfusion8 I am facing this problem.
Is there anything to do more with cf admin settings page or is this problem is with the code? (Infact I havent modified my cfm code)
Please find the piece of code that I am using.
<cfldap action="QUERY" server="#application.LDAPServer#" port="#application.LDAPPort#" start="#application.LDAPBase#" name="search" attributes="alias, dn, uid, technicalCareerLevel, locationorgunit, givenName, sn" filter="#filter#" scope="SUBTREE" maxRows="2">
Anybody can assist me on this?
Thanks in advance.
Manoz.

I have fixed this problem successfully.
The problem was with the referral attribute of the cfldap tag.
After adding this (referral="yes") attribute to my code I am able to login into my website.
<cfldap action="QUERY" server="#application.LDAPServer#" port="#application.LDAPPort#" start="#application.LDAPBase#" name="search" attributes="alias, dn, uid, technicalCareerLevel, locationorgunit, givenName, sn" filter="#filter#" scope="SUBTREE" maxRows="2" referral="yes">
Any way thanks for your assistance!!!!!

Regards

The server was running fine for few months until i restarted the calendar server. i started to see the same error and the problem was the machine name got changed at some point.
I added the old hostname to the /etc/hosts file and restarted the calender server and it started to work fine.
