Error manifest file #2083

Since yesterday I have a problem with one of my ereaders. All of a sudden it has to autorize itself and then the message "error during recovery after saving manifest file" (translated from Dutch, I don't know what the exact English phrase might look like). And only with one reader: bebook club s, my other one, a normal club, doesn't have this issue.
Nothing changed in the setup so it appeared all of a sudden. The worst thing: I can't copy new purchased books while this results in an io error. Also, when I copy the new book to an SD card, my bebook can't open it while the DRM hasn't been set (this might be writtento manifest.xml I guess)
Who can help me? I saw some similar questions but no answers

I also posted the solution in another thread, sorry for the double entry but just to be comprehensive
In the end it was quit simple and the issue was in the ereader itself. AND I found a better solution for managing my books as well. I downloaded calibre to check if this helped. And yes, in a way. I could copy the book which caused the trouble but after i opened it on my ereader (worked), closed and try to open it again, the directory structure was a mess.
So I took the drastic approach and formatted the memory of my bebook. This helped and now it is working again. And sorry for ADE, calibre is a much nicer program which sees the SD card as well, gives more functionality and is much faster.
I hope this helps others, it was hard to find a solution on the internet

    Hi,
In case anyone encountered the same problem, here is how you solve it:
1- Login into shell by typing "shell command" from NCS enable mode.
2- Copy the installation zip file to local disk directory:
              cp /source-path/name/installation-file-name.zip /localdisk
3- Browse to localdisk directory which exists in the root directory and unzip the zip installation file:
              [LMS/root-ade localdisk]# unzip installation-file-name.zip
4- Exit shell by typing "Exit"
5- At this step, if you type the "dir" command, the installation file "NCS-upgrade-bundle-1.1.1.24.tar.gz"  should appear.
6- In "conf t" mode, create a new repository
         repository myrepo
              url disk:/
    7- application upgrade NCS-upgrade-bundle-1.1.1.24.tar.gz myrepo
Please rate if you find helpful.

  • WLS 6.1, SP2, Error Deploying WAR, Manifest file problem

    Hi,
When I moved to SP2 on 6.1, I am getting a new error while deploying a war file.
It looks from the stack trace that there is a problem with my manifest file, but
I am just taking the manifest file created by jdk1.3 jar utility - My META-INF
dir is empty before jarring. When opened in notepad, the cursor can go to the
start of the line below the blank line. I mention this in case that is the EOF,
and relevant to the problem. Any help is much appreciated.

I figured out what was causing this for me. Apparently, the new Manifest reader
classes in WLS SP2 are a lot pickier ( polite way of saying they dont handle exception
cases very well ;-) ). I had 2 third-party jar files in my WEB-INF/lib directory
whose manifests had issues that the Manifest reader could not handle. One of
them was a header line that wrapped and the other had extra lines at the end of
the file. I had to unjar them, fix the manifests, and re-jar them. the server
    started up fine after that.
It might be nice if they provided a better error message than "String Index Out
Of Bounds: -1" for this problem, but hey, you can't have everything because where
    would you put it :)

    Hello,
When did that issue occur? When you publish your application or install?
Based on the error message, it seems that it throws this error when you install that application, right?
If possible, you could share the detailed information of your clickonce application with us, like where you deployed your application, a shared folder or a website, or even a local folder?
To narrow down this issue, you could check whether there is any manifest file inside the published folder.
If not, then you could consider republish it again to see whether it could generate any manifest file.
If so, then you could confirm whether the user have permissions to access that folder to download that file.

    Carl

  • Updated to firefox 4, and suddenly can't connect with any browser though I am connected. Error message reads "could not read chrome manifest file."

i updated firefox and now I can't access the net on any browser. Wireless router everything is connected and up and running. Just not the browsers. uninstalled it, reinstalled it (didn't work), unistalled it again and internet explorer won't work either (not at anypoint after intial update was run. read several peoples simalr problems with the "could not read chrome manifest file" issue and solutions to no avail. uninstall and system restore did not work either. What did it change on my system, and how can I change it back?

    Do a clean (re-)install:
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    * It may not be necessary to create a new profile, so first try if it works with your current profile and if not then create a new profile.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found

Greetings. I am new to UPK and am seeking guidance on an upgrade to 11.1.
A little background on what we are trying to do:
    We have two machines:
    Windows 2003 machine in domain 'X' | UPK 11.0.0.1.
Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine in domain 'Y' | UPK 11.0 on the new machine first, install the 11.0.0.1 patch, and then upgrade to 11.1.
We are using the same database as the old machine. Developer Server is Standard Authentication, Knowledge Center is Windows authentication.
    ==========================================================================================
So far we have installed 11.1 with the respective database upgrades, but are lost as to how to migrate the old Content Root data. We have copied all the content to the new Content Root, added it to IIS like the old machine, and verified that the UPK database Content Root path is correct and working.
For the rest of the post, I am remoted into the server from my local workstation, and then using IE to access KCenter on the server's FQDN, not via localhost.
Since I am green, so I presumed that I would need to import the titles under Manager in KCenter. I zipped each content folder individually (they are named "1", "9", etc), and then attempted to import each zip file.
NOTE: At this stage sometimes we are prompted to authenticate again. When it does, sometimes the credentials that we know work, get rejected and we are prompted again. This will repeat until we get a 401 and we have to start over. We have verified that the Windows account currently in session with the site is valid and has administrator authority within KC.
NOTE2: On the first few tries, .NET complained that maxRequestLength was not large enough. I had our servers team increase it on the actual server in order for us to proceed.
Provided we don't have to authenticate again, or that it actually accepts our credentials, we get to the 30% mark and then receive the error: *"Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found"*
Does anyone have any wisdom for this process? The title importation section in the deployment manual is not helping, and the administrator from whom I am taking over this software has not had to deal with this before.
    Thank you,
    Ian

Hi Marc, thanks for the post,
I have gone through an extensive troubleshooting process with Oracle, including their development team, in order to fully complete our project setup. As a supplemental bit of information, we also were having connection errors when attempting to publish directly to the knowledge center.
As far as the context of this post, here is the solution in brief:
    1) Verify that the package being imported was published from the same version of the Developer Client as the Knowledge Center installation's.
    2) Check for database consistency issues. In our case we were using a database that was built in another domain. After numerous attempts with Oracle support on the line to determine the inconsistency, it was decided to completely reinstall and build a new database from scratch in the new domain.
    3) Check application pool identities and access (while we had some inconsistencies here, correcting them did not change the behavior of the import/publish errors)
In review, a lot of what we had setup was correct. Our primary point of failure, we feel, was using the old database. Technically this should not have been a problem, but Murphy likes to get his way sometimes.
    Cheers,
    Ian

  • Need help with a manifest file

I'm trying to make a jar file executable, and I've seen numerous questions and answers regarding this particular issue, and none of them helped me with my problem.
I have a batch file that runs the application without any problem, but when I try to create a manifest with the main class attribute copied char by char from my batch file and run it, I get a message "could not find the main class".
I been browsing the web for the past 4 hours* now and the only type of answers I see for that problem is something like this:
    ...Main-Class... "${main.class}".
This type of solution is worthless to me, since it doesn't tell me why my path is correct when I use the .bat file and incorrect when used in a .jar file.
    Thanks,
    Omer.

I read there the related topics.
However, it wasn't even close to being helpful.
I'm using ant and the inner build.xml syntax is probably eluding me somewhere.
In fact, if it was possible to find an example build file that was written for ant 1.6 or later and contains the Main-Class attribute (I've seen some examples that contain an example file, but none of them contained the Main-Class attribute, and I found some Main-Class examples but none of them showed where they should go or how they should appear within the manifest file.
I'm at the point when I'm about to give up the whole idea and provide the unprofessionally looking .bat file.
I thank anyone who has put his mind to this issue, but if there is no build.xml example, I guess you can't help me.
    Thanks anyway.
It's frustrating to see how the most flexible language there is to work with when coding, becomes next to impossible to work with when you need to deploy it.
    Update, 30.04.2008:
I have managed to figure out that the problem wasn't with the main class, but with the classpath.
I run the program from Intellij, and everything works perfectly. I use a batch file, and perfect. I try to use an Ant generated jar with the classpath attribute set exactly like the batch file's paths, and nothing.
There is no error message either.
The classpath is located under "/lib/*.jar" in the distribution directory, where the "program.jar" is located.
I have come to the point that i would pay to see a proper working build.xml and to see the relative and absolute paths of the classpath.
This is actually harder than developing an extremely rich server application.

  • Help using manifest file classpath.

I have a jar file (A) that is dependant on another jar file (B). When I run my app, which references jar A, if it doesn't also include jar B in its class path I get an error referencing jar B (as expected)
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/commons/io/FileUtils
But if I add the following to jar A's manifest file:
    Class-Path: E:\commons-io-1.1.jar
if get an error referencing jar A
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: utilities/gui/ExitApplicationProducer

Ok, now I have "Class-Path: .\commons-io-1.1.jar"...That's still Windows-specific. If you want it to be relative to the referring jar, then simply specify commons-io-1.1.jar without the windows-specific path notation prefixing it.

  • How to use manifest file to indicate the entry class?

I am trying to package all my class files together and let the users to run my file using the following command line:
    java -jar program.jar
For this purpose, I need to specify the main class in the manifest file. I create the manifest file as below:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.3.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: classname
and include it in the same directory as my class file. then I jar all the files using:
    jar cvmf manifest.mf program.jar *.*
However ,when I try to run the program using:
java -jar program.jar, I get the error message:
Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from program.jar.
What have I done wrong? pls help!!! thanks a lot

    Hi.
    here one example:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: Solitaire.RunMe
    Created-By: 1.3.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
you may run it by : java -jar Solitaire.jar, or doubleclick over the Solitaire.jar
the main class is RunMe in package Solitaire.
so the complite path would be Solitaire.RunMe.
    enother one
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: RunMe.RunMe
    Created-By: Forte for Java v. 1.0
you may run it by : java -jar Transmission.jar, or doubleclick over the Transmission.jar
the main class is RunMe in package RunMe.
so the complite path would be RunMe.RunMe.

  • Problem with jar file & loading manifest file

    Hi Friends
i developing one application using java Swing

  • "Could not find project's extension manifest file."

I am trying to load the Illustrator SDK sample FreeGridUI.  In the documentation supplied by adobe, it says:
    1. In the IDE, choose File > Import > Flash Builder > Flash Builder Project.
    2. Select "Project folder" and browse to SDK_root\samplecode\FreeGridUI.
    3. Click Finish to import the project.
    4. Build the project.
When I do that I get an error message that says:
"Could not find project's extension manifest file. Make sure the manifest exists at .staged-extension/CSXS/manifest.xml."
But as you can see from the attached screen shot, the manifest is in that exact location.
Also when I edit the manifest in the "bundle manifest editor" and then close the manifest tab, is asks me if I want to save the manifest.  When I choose yes and re-open the manifest... none of my changes have been saved.
    Anybody got any ideas?
    -Bill

    Okay,
I feel stupid, but I also feel like adobe should feel stupid too.  Turns out I missed the "." at the beginning of the ".staged-extension" path.  But adobe put that folder in their sample without the "." in front.  So much for a "working sample."  Anyway, I dropped into terminal and did a "mv staged-exnestion .staged-extension" and now all is well.  Hope that helps someone.  Sorry for crying wolf.

  • Problem with manifest file and Plateau LMS

I have published a course with a quiz in SCORM 1.2 and tried
to upload to a Plateau LMS.
It seems that a "page cannot be found" message is the result
after upload and we try to launch the course. The course works
outside the LMS (when run locally on my computer).
The Plateau LMS support team tried to help, and found the
following: "There is something wrong with this manifest, though I
cannot ascertain what that is exactly. Most of the file name is in
the parameter field, which is causing the launch path to look like
    this:
    /content/apmm/cbcgis/mars/BRTMAIN/MARS?BRT%20Maintenance%20Template_%2020080226.htm=
Everything in the parameters field is placed after the
filename in a URLencoded querystring after the question mark that
you see above. it should look like this:
    /content/apmm/cbcgis/mars/BRTMAIN/MARS BRT Maintenance
    Template_ 20080226.htm"
Can anyone please help resolve this, or have any advice?
This is the first time we have tried uploading Captivate
courses to this LMS, and we have been having problems with the
manifest file in general. I have looked at all the material I can
find on publishing and the manifest file, but cannot seem to
    resolve my issue.
    Thanks
    Warwick

    Warwick,
I have had this error with an Authorware set of SCORM files
when my LMS was looking for index.htm and I had named it index.html
    - you wouldn't think that would cause an error but it did. I would
be more than happy to package a Captivate file of just a few
screens that works on my LMS (which is Learn.com's Learning
Center), and send you the SCORM files to test... That could be a
start anyhow. I will send you a private msg. with my e-mail
    id.
