Error MDL1261 & MDL 1406

Im trying to import an mdl file. While importing am getting these error messages mdl 1261 and 1406.
we re-installed the Warehouse builder and in the new settings we are trying to import the mdl which was taken from the previous one.
So how to go with this?

Can you give us a more detailed error message?
What is the product version?
If it is 10.2.x, are any experts in the export?
Is the character set of the machine where you run the import the same as the one where the export was run?

I have OWB 11 and 11g db running on the same machine. I am going through the self learning examples and tried to an import metadata file in OWB Design Centre and I got an error->> java.lang.Exception: CNV0002-0038(ERROR): Cannot write to file ./../../reposasst/converter.properties
Please can anyone help
(I suspected it has to do with locale id of start.mdl being diff to that of the repository language locale id but I can't find a start.mdl file in <en GB>)

That's a good point David about write privileges (to reposasst). I am running 11g db and 11g installs OWB 11 along when you install the db. I logged-in as owb (following the steps of the self learn site)
I have so far re-logged-in as system and tried to perform the import but I still got the same error.
One other point though is as I exited Design Centre it came up a Warehouse Builder Error>> Error while trying to save layout: Console.layout (Access Denied)

Here's the FIX for one quicktime installation error

Can't believe this isn't mentioned in here anywhere or in any of the threads on the Web. I got help from the Ubergeeks on the Well, where I should have started in the first place.
If you can't install because Quicktime won't install (error -3, error 1402 etc.) and you can't get permissions to enter the registry keys...
Run: regedit
navigate to the folder mentioned in the error message. For me it was HKEYLocalMachine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Quicktime
This seems to be the most often-cited culprit.
Right-click on the Quicktime folder. Select Permissions. Hit Advanced. Click the "Owner" tab. Click on yourself in the lower window. Hit OK.
Install your software and enjoy.
This may not fix everyone's problems, but I bet it fixes the vast majority of those that are similar to the one I had, which I spend hours and hours trying to fix before I simply asked someone who knew what they were doing.
Maybe if the folks at Apple see this, they can, you know, add it to their troubleshooting guide. It's a very common problem.

In case anyone is reading this thread, I found a fix for this problem. In another discussion thread, a nice person referenced an article at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93865 that explains what to do with these kinds of permission errors (1402 and 1406). I followed the instructions and also made the changes to the specific line item I had a problem with. Installation ran successfully although there were a couple of error messages about not being able to unregister a couple of .dlls, which apparently is not fatal to the installation.

The problem is that Visual Studio is trying to write that key to your OS but failed. There are many possible reasons so it is hard to check it just from the above error info, I think you can take the following actions to test whether they can fix your problem:
1. It is possible the the source(the installer) is corrupt on your OS. So our first step is to check the source. Please download the ISO format and verify its hash checksum sha-1 value by refer to the following page:

2. If the source is alright, check that you are administrator and you have ran the setup as administrator. If you've already checked that and you still do not have privilege when install. We need to refer to the following blog:

It contains a script, the script will involve subinacl tool to give all registries the Admin privilege, then you will be able to write keys to that registries.
3. The reigistry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BLOCK_CROSS_PROTOCOL_FILE_NAVIGATION sounds related to IE. May I also know your IE version?

ITunes 5.1 fixed my installiation problems? HA

When my dad came to me today and asked if iTunes version 5.1 fixed my problems, I was excited and quickly downloaded and installed the new version.
First thing I noticed is that they STILL have not fixed the "could not write to the registry key HKEYLOCALMACHINE/software/classes/.cdda/OpenWithProgids and HKEYLOCALMACHINE/software/classes/.cdda/OpenWithlist " problems (error 1402 and 1406 i think)
so once i fixed that and set the registry keys to their proper permissions i tried installing again, and it installed sucessfully, but now it says "Quicktime has failed to intalize: Error #-2093"
come on apple, you can do better then this!

Ok, so i first try to install quicktime standalone. It gives me a registry error. While that error is there (before i press OK) i go to regedit and edit the key it says it cannot write to cause not enough permissions, and i edit it so the permissions are set to EVERYONE
then i try installing quicktime standalone again, and it gives me the same error. I still have regedit open, and since i just edited the permission im wondeirng why its giving me that error again, so i click refresh on regedit, look at the permissions, and they are set to just the users (mark grandi) again instead of everyone, even though i edited that before i attempted my install of quicktime standalone (second attempt)
and i have regcleaner.... but what am i suppost to do with it to solve this problem? =P

Error While Importing a MDL file

Hi Guys,
Here I have a requirement of cloning one module of UAT system as like Prod. I exported the MDL file of that module and trying to import into UAT. The UAT system already has that module, but I want to override the existing mappings.
When I try to import, OWB is throwing an error.
To give brief about the actual items, I have a Project (FFH1) in Prod and one of the modules (STG1) need to be copied.
Here below the error Message:
MDL1261: Error importing PROJECT FFH1.
Detailed Error Message:
MDL1406: Cannot import PROJECT with physical name <FFH1> matching by object identifier because a PROJECT <FFH> with the same business name <FFH_1_3> but different object identifier already exists.

Can any one suggest me How to overcome this error Or How to achieve my requirement of copying a single module to another repository.

i have got a similar error - the difference is that I have one repository and one of the mappings was deleted. When I tried to import it from an export which was taken earlier in the day and no change was made to any of the mappings in the project except the action of the offending mapping been deleted I got the following error:

This attributes that the messages are referring to are columns in a table and I can't see where I can change a business name and physical name of a column in a table. What I don't understand is that this mapping created ok, deployed, ran and was included in an export and at no time did an error appear. It first appeared when trying to import it back into the project.
Has anyone got any ideas how I could get this mapping imported?

This error is coming only for this mdl .Rest other mdls are getting imported succesfully.
but we are able to import the same mdl in the other enviorment.Can someone tell me why the r12rfrmp.mdl is having the problem in first enviorment.

All the owb sessions are closed.Actually this enviorment is used by our QAand dev also uses it for checking the bug. And since we dont have APPS password for this we are not getting what owb objects are locked. According to owb team suggestions we have bounced the db but still its not working. i am not getting that why only one mdl is giving the lock error but the other mdls are getting imported sucessfully.

the first information warning message is ok, the 2nd ones should be gone if you use the replace mode

MDL1261: Error importing OBJECT_CATALOG

I am getting an error when importing a change to a process flow from our staging environment to production. The change I made was adding assigns to the process flow. The import only fails on this process flow I am able to import other process flows and maps. Now I am getting this error when I import:

Error at line 795: MDL1261: Error importing OBJECT_CATALOG THE_SSI_DW.
Detailed Error Message:
2nd class object CMPNameInfo@35f542/id=3536194/type=CMPPhysicalObject/name=null not loaded into cache. Need to load its first class object first. Please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and details on how to reproduce it.
Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

Did you do a lot of edits on the flow to get it to the state it is in now? It looks like some information is messed up. If you try making the changes from your base state and then retrying might work around it, but thats a guess.

I exported a process flow PF.PF_TOTO
When i am importing it with option "replace existing object only" in the same enviorment whitout modification i am getting the following error:
"Error at line xxx: MDL1261: Error importing PROCESS_FLOW XXXX.PF_MODULE.PF.
Detailed Error Message:
attempt to set mandatory link to null
Import ended at ...."
It's strange because with another process flow it's work and with the same PF imported in another platform it's work too.
An export from another platform to this platform doing the same error too. (It's the real goal)
I don't understand why this PF don't work on this platform only and i don't find any info on this error.

I exported a process flow into an MDL file from our test environment, say DBTEST.
Upon importing it to our production environment, say DBPROD, I got the following error:
"Error at line 141: MDL1261: Error importing PHYSICALOBJECT PROJECT.PROCESS.PACKAGE.null.
Detailed Error Message:
API0259: The object cannot be edited in Read-Only mode!"
Here are my import options:
1. Create New Metadata
2. Match by Name
Other details:
-- DBTEST and DBPROD have the same project name (say PROJECT), process flow module (PROCESS), etc. They have the same module/database/object names, in short.
-- Repository owner has full access (any procedure)
This only happens whenever I am importing process flows. I can successfully import tables and mappings.
I tried searching answers through the internet, but I don't know why I couldn't find one. I would like to ask the help of our OWB gurus, or anyone, out there. =)

No process was running when I imported the objects. I also tried importing other process flows individually (after exporting them one by one), still I got the same error.

IMPORTING MDL ERROR

We have an oracle 11gR2 DB and OWB setup which is up and running on WIN2003 box. we create an mapping to consume an web service. We have one more setup on which Oracle 10gR2 database and 11gR2 OWB is installed and configured. when iam trying to import the MDL from the first to second enviormrnt getting series of errors.

When I get this kind of message:
Internal Error: Load Error. Please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and details on how to reproduce it.I try first to do an other export (an other export file).
Sometimes the export can give a bad file.

MDL IMPORT FAILS WITH MDL1261

Hi all,
I am using the OWB Repository Version 10.2.0.4.0 in a AIX server and we face MDL IMPORT FAILS WITH MDL1261
On Oracle Metalink we found the following information. The datatype and background both are set to 113.
Does the suggestion to set the values to 10007 apply in this case?

MDL IMPORT FAILS WITH MDL1261
The upgrade to 11.1.0.7 creates a new property SAP_FTP in the repository. The DATATYPE of this property is incorrectly set to113. The value should be 10007. This wrong datatype causes the NullPointerException because it causes the type not be found when it is expected to be there.
Solution
1. Using SQL*Plus, connect to OWBSYS
2. Check datatype of property SAP_FTP
SQL> select name, datatype from PROPERTYDEFINITION_V where name = 'SAP_FTP';
NAME DATATYPE
SAP_FTP 113
3. Check datatype of property BACKGROUND
SQL> select name, datatype from PROPERTYDEFINITION_V where name = 'BACKGROUND';
NAME DATATYPE
BACKGROUND 10007
The value of DATATYPE for the property SAP_FTP and property BACKGROUND should be the same (10007). If this is not the case, the DATATYPE of property BACKGROUND should be changed.
Proceed to the next step to correct this.
4. Update PROPERTYDEFINITION_V
If the value of DATATYPE is not the same for property SAP_FTP and property BACKGROUND, then correct this as follows:
SQL> update PROPERTYDEFINITION_V
set DATATYPE = (select datatype from PROPERTYDEFINITION_V where name = 'BACKGROUND') where name = 'SAP_FTP';
5. Verify updated correctly
SQL> select name, datatype from PROPERTYDEFINITION_V where name = 'SAP_FTP';
NAME DATATYPE
SAP_FTP 10007
6. If everything looks correct, then commit.
SQL> commit;
Commit complete.

Photoshop cs4 install fails on Vista with registry access error 1406

I've been trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my Vista for a couple of days now. It grinds for a minute or two then tells me "Installation of the following components has failed: Adobe Drive CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4" when I cancel the install and click the "More Information" button, I see this:

Error:
Error 1603. Error 1406.Could not write value AdobeCS4ServiceManager to key \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
When I go into regedit, I have no problem creating a string value in the indicated key.
Here are some of the things I've tried:
1) run setup as administrator (even tho I have UAC turned off)
2) run setup in WinXP SP2 compatibility mode
3) use the Adobe Support Advisor to track down the error in their knowledge base and followed steps to apply permissions to descendents of the indicated tree
Done lots of googling plus searching of the experts-eschange knowledge base.

Choose Custom during install, deselect Version Cue, Adobe Drive and Acrobat.com. The CSI Service is related to that.
