Error message 2001
I posted this question a few days ago and have had a few suggestions but have still not found the answer. Even Itunes "technical staff" don't know! However I will try again - someone out there must have a clue! - I can connect my Ipod touch to Itunes, I can log in, search and find something I want to purchase and download - however when I come to the payment section I get the following message: "We could not complete your Itunes store request. An unknown error occurred (2001). There was an error in the Itunes store. Please try again later". This ipod is being used on ny laptop. I use an Ipod nano on my desktop and can still download and purchase ok.Jolly Giant has been very helpful - but I still need a solution - any ideas anyone.
I had the same problem and thanks to this forum, have finally gotten it worked out. It was the credit card info that was making the stupid unknown error 2001. So I updated my credit card info and all is clear, smooth sailing. Thanks

My iphone 4 has died and says connect to itunes. itunes restore wont work, error message 2001, then 2006 appears.Tried all the troubleshooting help, but nothing works. Any ideas???
I solved my own problem. Hopefully this will help someone else.
I did a DFU restore, then started it up as a new phone on iTunes. Everything loaded properly, then from iTunes did a restore from backup, selected the one I wanted and it still took me to the same screen with 3 options of restore. I chose the start up as new phone from the actual phone and after all the syncing was completed, my phone is back in working order. -
Error Message 2001 with new ITunes 8 (for Mac) & IPhone 2.1
Same general subject as many of tonight's posts. I updated to ITunes 8 & IPhone 2.1. There was some sort of problem during the latter update and my phone now has the "Cord &ITunes logo" with no emergency switch. When I connect the phone to the Mac through a USB, ITunes says that a recovery was stopped and that I must recover. So I hit recover but before the recover finishes it replies with Error message 2001 that it couldn't complete.
This occurred on a relatively recent Mac. My only goal is to get the phone working - I'll restore my settings and sync the music later.
Thank you
TomI don't have that same problem, I was able to download the new Ipod Touch software, but now that I have iTunes 8 and the new Ipod Touch software, it won't let me sync my Ipod. Any info would be great. When I try I get this message:
The Ipod "Matt's Itouch" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13213).
This just started happening this afternoon (I downloaded everything this morning. -

I had the same problem. To fix it, I first tried a different computer and different USB cable. When the error still appeared on the different computer and different USB cable, I unplugged the USB cable from the iPhone, opened up the iPhone and disconnect the battery from the iPhone main logic board (three screws). I left it unplugged for a few hours. Plugged back in the battery connector and then restored in iTunes. Hope this works for you.
Um, no. Opening up the iPhone voids all support from Apple. Do not make recommendations on this forum that will violate Apple's policies or procedures. -

Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service. -

Hi Mckinziepitiguary1,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is restarting unexpectedly and you are not able to restore it, try the method explained in this article:

I have an iPhone 4. It is in great condition, always protected. A couple months ago, it randomly went black and wouldn't turn on. I put it in recovery mode, plugged it in to my MacBook Pro and would get error code 2001 then I'd get error code 2006. I read some different forums and many people said to try using a different USB port and different cords. The last cord I tried, worked and my phone was back. Last night, my phone did the same exact thing. So I used the same method I used last time, however nothing has worked. I tried plugging it in to a PC and that didn't work either. This seems like a hopeless problem that's going to continue to happen. Any advice?
Soooooooo.... You obviously need to restore the device
It seems that you have tried several options to restore it. What I would do is leave it plugged it and hold down the Home button AND the Power button together till you see the white apple appears. Then let go of the Power button but continue to hold the home button. You should get the message in iTunes again saying that the iPhone needs to be restored. Hit OK then RESTORE.
Hope this helps!!

I've noticed that when using a lightbox there's an error that commonly occurs. When you close the lightbox, it shifts the browser window size around 5 pixels and creates scrollbars and then shifts back. It's a small error, but looking at the code it
