Error Message 3906 After Apple TV Update
Today my Apple TV updated. Once the update was complete I was no longer able to connect wirelessly. I keep getting the error message -3906. If I plug my ethernet cord into the Apple TV than everything works. The issues has to do with wireless connectivity. Any suggestions?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
Also make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of comments? You might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?

I have downloaded icloud to my pc, however when i go to sign in to Apple through icloud, i get an error message saying my apple ID is valid but is not an icloud account. What does this mean and how can i update my account so i can access icloud?!
To use iCloud, you must first set it up with your Apple ID on a device with iOS 5 or a Mac with OS X Lion.

My internet works fine and I have tried back dozens of times with same result.Did you ever figure out the problem? "Contact Software Manufacturer"?? That sounds ominous... I've got the same issue and I'm pretty durn aggravated right about now....

HT1595 Apple TV error message 3906
Any one out there can help with error message -3906 not connected to wireless connection
I had the same problem. I just solutioned it just by disabling MAC Address filtering in my LinkSys router. This is strange as I did enter the address of my ATV3 in the list of allowed devices in the router configuration software.
The truth is that it now works! I just seems that ATV is not compatible with MAC Address filtering. -
When I try to update my software, I'm receiving the error message "Failed to check for updates. The operation couldn't be completed. Operation not permitted."
I'm using Safari 4.0.3. Yes, I know this is an old version of Safari - I can't update it, or any other software on my MacBook. Should I just wait for the Lion OS, or is there any kind of fix a non-technical Mac user like me can attempt without screwing up her laptop?
I've tried clearing my cache and resetting Safari already - doesn't help. I've also tried to update after disabling my (Norton) antivirus software, thinking that might be interfering. None of these help.
I don't know if it's a related problem, but also I can't download .pdf files from the internet, although I used to be able to.You should use the NortonAV uninstaller to uninstall it. Disabling the dreadful thing in the past hasn't always been sufficient for it to cease creating system havoc. The Mac NortonAV version has a long and well-earned reputation for doing truly seriously nasty things to OS X. Shame on Comcast for inflicting NortonAV on its Mac customers. It's not a matter of if NortonAV will mess up OS X but when and how badly. I can't help but wondering if some setting in your Norton AV has decided that NortonAV, rather than you, will be making executive decisions about what you are allowed to install on your computer and is keeping that fact a secret.
After you are done uninstalling Norton use the finder to search for any Norton files that the uninstaller might have missed. Add the option to search for invisible files.
After you have removed all the Norton bits and pieces restart in safe mode by holding down the shift key right after the startup chime. Keep holding down the shift key until you see the Apple logo and spinning gear. Safe mode does some maintenance tasks which means a much longer than normal startup time. Use Disk Utility to repair permission
If your Mac works normally in safe mode restart. If things still aren't fixed you might want to give another shot at reinstalling Snow Leopard from the install DVD and applying the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo before taking your Mac to the Apple Store.
If you feel the need to run AV software on your Mac use ClamXav in manual mode. It's donationware and doesn't seem to cause the litany of weird problems that are associated with other AV software. -
In the iTunes window, when I update my nano ipod, I get an error message "User ipod cannot be updated. The disk could not be read from or written to." How can I overcome this error message.
Hello there dilip77707,
It sounds like you are getting this error message that your iPod cannot be read from or written to when you are trying to update your iPod Nano. I recommend the troubleshooting from the following article to help you get that resolved. Its pretty straight forward, just start at the top and work your way down as needed:
'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,

I am unable to update apps on my iPhone 4. I tried rebooting but still I get an error message which says "unable to update"
I really didnt want to restore unless i had absolutely other option.
as per usual, apple wont help unless i buy an apple care plan. helpful much. -
I've done it 6 times the steps you mention to get this thing to work but still it doesn't work for me. I've downloaded iTunes, installed it, and again the same message it's going on Error message received - Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I've deleted iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update and Bonjour, restart my computer and downloaded again (6 times) and still doesn't work for me. What should I do?I deleted all Apple products you mentioned above (iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update and Bonjour), deleted the prior downloads I had previously tried to install and then emptied my recycle bin. Then I started with a new download of iTunes before the problem was solved for me.
It really ***** that Apple does not give any direct support for its own products.
Good Luck -
I keep getting the following error message when I try to update my itunes, "There is a problem with this windows installer package. Aprogram run as part of the set up did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Yes, I had found a similar solution also. I'm running XP Pro, SP3. I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair. Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess. Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes. Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing. I haven't begun to work on that. -
Just installed itunes but when i try to open it this error message pops up: "apple application required" then it suggests uninstalling and reinstalling which i've done a few times but nothing works
When you say you have tried everything, it would help if you told us what you have tried to avoid duplication.
When you installed iTunes did you get any error messages?
Anyway, on the face of it it may be worth trying a separate install of Apple application support.
Uninstall iTunes again. Now open Apple Software update, assuming it is working.
It should offer to download iTunes. Don't do it yet, go to the Tools menu and select Download only.
Then download iTunes. Then go to the tools menu again and select Open download folder and you should see a collection of six files.
Before going on, can you get to this stage OK?
One further thing I would like you to check, are you ahving any problems with Windows updates? Could you check in Windows Update to see if there are any failures. -
I am running Windows 7 (64bit) , and an error message appears following a recent update to iTunes v 11.1.2: "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unknown error occured (-3212). Make sure your network connection is active and try again." I have dug a little bit into possible problems but haven't found a solution yet, one note is that the network connection is OK. A response would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Error message 9006 when trying to update os
getting error message 9006 when attemption to update os on ipad 2
To the original poster and Jennifer:
Although this step is not in the Apple document, I am pretty sure I found an easier way to fix 1601, 1602 and 1604 errors at my iPhone blog -- and that is to simply switch USB ports and try again -- also make sure you are not plugging in the iPhone via a hub and that it has full USB power.
I have no idea why the change of ports seems to work, but 49 out of 50 people who have tried it report success, so you've got nothing to lose.
