Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Error message from iTunes

I have been using iTunes with my iPod mini for ages and it works fine. I recently got a message saying some songs in the library have not been copied because the iPod software is too old. There are indeed some songs in the library that have been unchecked and are not on the iPod. It seems a pretty random selection. I can manually check the songs in the library and then they update OK on the iPod.
The error message says to go to www.apple.com/ipod to get the latest updater. I downloaded the latest version, 2006-06-28 and it tells me I am running the latest iPod software, v1.4.1
I also re-installed the latest iTunes as well, but I still get this same message. Anyone know where it comes from and what I can do ?

If Windows has difficulty reading information off iPod or iPod shuffle, it may display a message from the System Tray, indicating there's a corrupt file and to please run the Chkdsk utility.
(Apple) recommends using the latest version of iTunes to restore iPod because this will address the file system issue and will also defragment the iPod drive. Although you can use the Chkdsk utility to fix file system errors on the drive mapped to iPod, Chkdsk will not defragment the drive.

    Hi there Br0x,
You may want to try rebuilding the iTunes library as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Error Message (-3221) iTunes

hey guys, i've noticed everyone is having problems getting error messages w/ itunes (the latest version). i wonder if anyone has ever gotten this one. i keep on geting the error message that says,
"iTunes could not connect to the itunes store. an unknown error occured (-3221). make sure your network connection is active and try again."
first of all i upgraded to 7.2, got that same message, then came to this forum, read a post that said "go to start, choose run, type in "services.msc", scroll down to "mcafee redirector", right click it, choose "properties" then change the start-up type to manual instead of automatic. that seemed to work for about a day. then i came back to here read some more posts, then downgraded to 7.1.5 (that didn't work either), then downgraded to 7.0.2 (that didnt work either). but thats after i had to go to add/remove programs to uninstall every version before i install a different version (if anyone can understand that). i am soooo sick of this crap, i wish itunes or apple or whoever it is that is in charge of this messed up software would fix it already or do something!!!! anyway, is there ANYONE out there that could possibly help me?

hey, i want to thank you soooooooo much, b noir. your info was so helpful. what i did was i had to call my ISP to get in touch w/ mcafee. so i was on the phone w/ mcafee for the last 3 hours trying to find my firewall. it was a firewall issue. so you were right on. thank you so much again for your input.

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply.

I can not seem to back up my iPhone 5s, error message is: iTunes cannot back up this iPhone because not enough free space is available on this computer
There is plenty of space over 260gb

Are you absolutely sure there's 20GB in use, and not that it has 20GB free? If you click on the hard drive icon on your desktop and click cmd-i to Get Info, what is the available space?

  • I want to Sync my iPhone 4 to iTunes however I get an error message from iTunes each time I connect the phone to the PC saying that I should restore to factory settings. Frustrating because it's already annoying enough that I can't drag and drop mp3's!!!

I have never been so frustrated before in my life with any phone. I find it obnoxious as it is that I cannot simply drag and drop files (especially MP3's) straight from my PC directly into my phone, which I have been used to doing up until now. Everyone who convinced me to get the iPhone has instructed me that my frustration can be fixed by downloading iTunes and syncing it all up via that program (which I have never used before). So, I downloaded the program successfully, however when I connect the iPhone 4 to the PC and iTunes is open, I get an error message that 'iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone "iPhone" and that I should go to the Preferences tab of the iPhone and select 'restore' to restore this phone to factory settings. First of all, I don't understand why I need to do that. I have already downloaded apps and other important things in the 2 days that I have the phone. I am also scared that it will erase my contacts. This is such a headache. Music is very imporatant to me, but I am getting so frustrated that I don't have freedom over the phone which I thought was supposed to be one of the best out there. I would really appreciate help in this matter. I am sure the phone is great but I am on the verge of taking it back and getting something else.

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

    or here:

Can anyone help me? The iTunes update corrupted my program. I uninstalled, and then reinstalled iTunes; only to find an error message about iTunes Helper. After several fruitless, repeat attempts, I am at a loss. Please help…

    Many thanks.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
