Error message "Apple Mobile Device failed to start"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes and before that I had updated Itunes and just reinstalled it but nothing fixes this message and when I open the store, it wont recognise the Ipod Touch. It is signed into Itunes itself. Is there anyway to fix this, we have an itunes card we need to use and can't because the store wont open.
I had the same problem for 3 days and now I solved it.
- Uninstal iTunes (Few files are remainig, you have to clean them all)
The only way I found to cleen "Mobile device suport" is:
-GO TO SAFE MODE
-CLICK WINDOW+R
-IN DIALOG BOX WRIGHT: C:\Program Files\CommonFiles\Apple and click search
NOW YOU CAN DELET THE FILES
Resetart your computer
reinstall iTunes
Houpe helpped you

When I open iTunes I get an error message "MSVCR80.DLL missing". I downloaded this .dll and installed in C:\Windows|System32. I then scanned my computer to fix registry errors.I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled and got the following error message "Apple Mobile Device failed to start".

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates -
I am unable to download iTunes on my second Windows 8 computer (64 bit). I got it fine on my first one and have used it quite a bit. After downloading the program and installing it on the second computer, I keep getting this error message: "Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start." This happens when when my IPhone 5c is connected via Wi-Fi and I have clicked on "Trust This Computer." (I have tried to install several times-- It gets hung up when it reaches"Starting Services.")
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I was asked if I wished to download the latest version of iTunes to my computer. I have failed to do so. Error message : 'Apple Mobile Device failed to start'. Verify that you have sufficient privilages to start system services. I have uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and continue to receive this message. I have untl now had no previous problems downloading iTunes.. any help would be greatly appreicated.
I tried and don't have that.
Doublechecking. Do you mean you you don't have the QTMovieWin.dll?
Did you proceed with the measures after that? (In the second box?) -

Hi Communitiy.
I have a window desktop and have had itunes for ever. The latest update failed and I am getting a strange error message. "Apple mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privledges to start system service."
I have iphones and I am wondering if a sync of iphone and I tunes has somehow screwed up everything.
The update will not load. I have even tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling.
I get the same exact message as before.
I am stuck as to what to try or do.Hello Clage,
The following article provides steps that can help get the Apple Mobile Device service sorted.

That worked, however I now get two error messages when I install I Tunes:
o Apple Mobile Device failed to start.
o Apple Application Support not found.
This were of course deleted in the recommended re-install procedure to resolve the dll file, but repeated uninstalls and installs simply bring up these two error messages with a recommendation to install I Tune again. Installing the new I Tunes version seems to be problematic per the discussion groups and has no simple solution. SHould not the Genius bar be able to resolve this at an Apple Store? Want to buy a new I Phone 5S, but this problem effectively stymies this.See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

When updating to the latest iTiunes, download and install work just fine until alomost to the end, when the install stops and I get the following message: 'Service Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. That's all I get, and install stops completely after asking me to choose either "Abort', or 'Retry',
But I know I have privileges because my iOS devices (iPads, iPad Mini, and iPod Touch) work just fine.
So now, I can't use iTunes on my computer because I can't download the software.

I am re-installing itunes on a PC Win 7 and have the message: "apple mobile device failed to start verify that you have sufficient privilegesto start system services" what does this mean? how do I check and rectify? I am already logged onto the PC as administrator
I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
Can anyone please help? -

Trying to re-install iTunes and the message "Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." But I don't know what to do? Please can someone help, I'm not the most technologically advanced person.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

when installing itunes I received the following error "service Apple Mobile Device failed to start, verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services"
Me too. And if someone comes back on here with the same solution of "uninstall and re-install", please provide further advice after you have done that 3 times and the program still has the same problem in addition to the "failure to load the C runtime library" R6034 issue. I have removed itunes 3 times however I do not have permission to remove the program files/apple file and the uninstall doesn't remove it.
You're not alone buddy.
