Error message at end of Adobe Reader installation, preventing the install (on Windows 7)

Error message: "windows intller does not permit updating of managed advertised products. At least one feature of the product must be installed before applying the update" when I try to download Adobe Reader on Windows 7, pls help

Thanks a lot Ajlan,
I tried installing the .exe file and it says it is not a valid Win32 program.
I can't even open the .msi file.
I used to have Reader on my computer and it worked, but for some reason now it doesn't. It doesn't show up on my Programs list and so cannot uninstall if I don't have obviously; I do have a recent version of Flashplayer that I was prompted to upgrade to.
Also, .pdf files have the right logo in the folders and desktop, and I can save files as .pdf in dropbox from this computer and open them on another computer using dropbox and they work. This might seem obvious to you but I'm a beginner so it's just in case, FYI.
Thanks for anymore help you can give me!
Oliver

• Windows performed an automatic update. I am now unable to use Firefox. I receive an error message "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server". Windows IE works, Outlook works. What did Microsoft do to me this time?!!!

Windows performed an automatic update on my PC this morning. Now, Firefox does not work other than in SAFE mode. I get "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server..." I downloaded and reinstalled the latest version of Firefox and get the same error message. IE works. MS Outlook works. What did Windows do to me this time?

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy" if the default "Use the system proxy settings" setting doesn't work.
See "Firefox connection settings":

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• Error message- "LR has encountered problems reading this photo" after installing LR 5.6 on new computer and retrieving all contents from old HD from external HD.

Hi-
I got a new PC laptop, retrieved all old HD contents from my external HD, installed LR 5.6 (5.4 on previous PC) and when I tried to open up my old Lightroom catalog it has an error saying "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo. You will not be able to make adjustments to this photo". I tried to open the catalog straight from my external HD with the same error message. I've read about four billion forum threads to try to figure it out- files do not seem to be missing as most threads indicate. The other threads suggest there is a corruption with the file, but I don't THINK that is the case. Are there any other suggestions? If the file is corrupted, how do I find out for sure? Have I lost all my edits??
Thanks for your help and time!

• Adobe Reader 10.1.1 installed on Windows 7 os with MSWord pdf won't read aloud. Why?

What is wrong here? Everything works and I checked the preferences under Edit in the Menu. I even turned off my firewall just in case. Also Read aloud mode is checked under View in the Menu and I started it at the beginning of the document. I also checked my sound systems on my computer and everything is ok. Hmmm.??? Can anyone help me?

thanks to a contributor whose Id I have lost now but had the answer! It was go to preferences under View in the Menu and click General. Then uncheck Protected Mode. close Reader and re open and it worked. The voice is so much nicer than the old Adobe Reader. Many thanks to this Forum contributors.

Nothing to do with the download; you need to open Adobe Reader once after the install is complete, and accept the EULA.

• Adobe Reader installer fails

Adobe Reader installer fails to install.
Task Manager shows it's running, but nothing happens.

You can try using the full offline Reader installer from

• Adobe Reader Installer Grayed Out

Hi there,
I've been working on trying to install Adobe Reader XI for the past 3-4 hours to no avail. No matter how many times I reinstall Flash to the latest version, restart my computer, or try installing in a different browser, I inevitably get this screen while trying to use the installer helper (With "Adobe Reader Installer" as the window title instead of "Adobe Flash Player Installer"):
Imgur
It's been an incredibly frustrating 3-4 hours, and I really don't know what else to do. I don't understand why this basic plugin is so hard to install. Currently, I'm running Windows 7 Home edition. Any ideas?

This same problem is posted several times a day, and the answer is always the same: use the offline installers:
Adobe Reader
Flash Player for Internet Exporer - ActiveX
Flash Player for Firefox - NPAPI

Cannot figure out install problem or why it is occuring. The Download and installation runs to about 80% and errors out. Icon even appears for program on desktop around 77% complete and I can open it but aborts setup. I have tried to follow the troubleshooting suggestions by going to

Copy and paste the following text in the Open field and then press Enter
fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

Also used Firefox browser but same problem occured.

I have also seen this error a number of times here in the forum, but I do not know what causes it. It seems to be some kind of conflict with the .NET Framework. Could it be that some update to the .NET Framework is running at the same time? (.NET Framework updates perform assemblies that can run for several hours.)
What I would try if I were to encounter this error:
restart Windows
check with the Task Manager's Processes tab that no batch assemblies are running
try the MSI installer http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/en_US/AdbeRdr11000_en_US.msi
then run the 11.0.3 update http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.03/misc/AdbeRdrUpd11003.msp

• Error in the adobe reader installation

I need a help to install adobe reader. when trying to install software of any link available on the network the following error message appears in the installation: the path my documents or the volume is invalid. Insert it again. sorry for the translation because I used the google translator.

Sorry, I don't understand this part "any link available on the network".
Anyway, assuming that you are on Windows, it seems that the registry contains an invalid path to your 'My Documents' folder.

You can get that error if there is still an old Adobe Reader plugin in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

Hi Tbeirne,
If you just want to save a pdf opened in Safari to your machine use the save as option from within the Reader plugin window. Just click on any of the buttons highlighted in below screenshots to Save a pdf at any location on your machine.
or
To summarize the issue, if you had opened an Internet PDF in a browser plug-in, you must use the save feature in the plug-in, not the Safari File > PDF Export, or File > Save As...
Please let us know if this solution works for you and you are able to save and view PDFs files locally.

Installation adobe reader XI 11.0.07 in windows 8 is not installed me, gives me a message that says "windows search cannot stop" for several times. What can i do?

I have no idea what this means; maybe you need to stop indexing? Also try the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

• Error Message: Adobe Reader has stopped working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I have uninstalled the reader program and reinstalled the reader program. The same error message appears. Help

Does anyone have an answer to the above error message?

Can you open Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
