Error Message: Cannot import files because they cannot be found.
What do I do? I just purchased this! I tried restarting and I just installed it about an hour ago. I shouldn't already have this problem!
A couple of questions/assumptions. The folders panel on the left side of the screen should be pointing to the location of the the files you wish to import and the panel on the right side should be pointing to where you want LR to store the imported files. Are you doing a move, copy or DNG conversion or are you telling Lightroom to just leave the files where they are and just import them into the catalog? Are you importing from a camera/card reader? The message indicates that LR can't read the folder that you pointed it to so there could be a number of reasons for that including security issues. More details would help.
If you are importing directly from a camera or card reader, sometimes copying the files from the card to a temporary folder on your desktop and them importing the files from there works better but I can't explain why. This is what I do as part of my own workflow but I have read other posts where people have said that doing this first copy worked for them.

This error message usually signifies that you are trying to import / copy files to a drive/ folder/ sub-folder for which you do not have read and write permissions.
Make sure you check all the relative locations to ensure you have the required permissions to complete the task. -

Sounds like the songs are in a format the iPod does not recognize. If you have these songs already imported on iTunes, select all of the songs (in this case the Styx songs) then from advanced menu in iTunes select convert selection to ACC, now once iTunes is done converting, re-sync the tunes back up to your iPod, and see if they are recognized.

I have an iPhone 4 Verizon running iOS 4.2.7. When I try to sync the phone with my PC it says something like "iTunes cannot sync because the installed apps cant be determined." This is very frustrating and Ive tried every trick people say fixes it(device manager trick, updating itunes, restarting itunes, different port, restarting cp etc). What can I do? I just want to sync a new album to my phone Please help!

1) The files are in the iTunes folder. The iTunes folder is in your Music folder which is in your home folder (user).
So go to <user home>/Music/iTunes.
2) Any files that end with .xml, .itl, or itdb. Please note that I had upgraded iTunes many times over the years and had several obsolete versions of those files in my iTunes folder. By moving them out and forcing iTunes to create new ones (see steps 3 & 4 above), I was able to determine which ones iTunes actually needed. Those were the files that I copied back into the iTunes folder, overlaying the new empty files.
3) Always make backups before you try tricks like this. I would recommend backing up your entire iTunes folder. I did not experience any data loss. Those files seem to contain your iTunes library information but not the actual music, movies, etc. When I started iTunes in step 3 (see above), iTunes showed an empty library. After performing step 4 (see above), I started iTunes again and it showed all my music, movies, etc. So I assume that the actual media files are stored elsewhere. Again, always make backups before trying something like this. I use Time Machine.

Lightroom 4.2. unable to import. message files were not imported because they cannot be read
Lightroom crisis:
suddenly, unable to import images into lightroom - A window comes up that says ""Following files were not imported because they cannot be read". I was in the process of importing images - 10 images were imported from the shoot then the import stopped.
I tested the card and the card readers by using cards from different cameras and using different card readers. I was able to import the images into a folder on my desktop so know nothing is corrupted.. The memory cards are good, my card readers are good. no setting have changed in my camera. Nothing has changed in my routine. Have been using lightroom for several years.
I import through a card reader, convert to DNG and save on an external hard drive. All very ordinary.
No one I have contacted has had nor knows of anyone who has had this problem.
Unable to get in touch with anyone at Adobe.

[email protected]On a quick read, it sounds like the same issue that had me dead in the water for 7 days. (LR 4.2) I tested everything - my card readers are good, the memory cards are not corrupted, tried different cards from different cameras,etc. Working my way through all my tech savvy friends and professionals, I was lucky to connect with a great sr. tech person at Adobe. After trouble shooting all lightroom possibilities (3 hours on the phone) we checked my external hard drive where all the images are stored. Even tho the external hard drive had plenty of space and "told me" that it was healthy and functioning well, Adobe had me go into the external hard drive's properties/tools and do a "check for errors. 12 hours later after the program went though the drive one file at a time, it found errors, moved them to a separate folder, and now all is functioning OK. The hard drive had not crashed nor were any images lost. As can happen after some time there must have been a scratch or similar that prevented more images from being written (or read) to the drive. Even though all is working OK at this time, I will replace my external hard drive (and it's back up external drive).just in case there are more "bumps" on the external hard drive.
My tech knowledge is limited, and I am not intuitive about anything digital, so can't add any more information then the experience I had.

I have been working with several forums and have tried all recommendations and none have worked.
I have tried reloading new LR 5 - and it worked for a short time and then stopped.
Very frustrated that I cannot talk with someone at Adobe.
The folks that have made recommendations are great but once their suggestions dont work they drop the link,
Is there someone or someplace I can take my computer to fix this issue.
It seems to be a problem between LR and Yosemite.The permissions have been changed on the destination folder where the photos are to be copied into.
You must make sure that the permissions are set to Read and Write.
Or perhaps the destination folder has been changed accidentally to something else, and you need to change it back to whatever it used to be. -

No problems importing the files onto my laptop. Using a SANDISK card reader and card. What's going on on the desktop?Leanne, check the write pernissions on the folder/drive you are attempting to import into on your desktop. The message usually means "cannot be written" - a not so clear message.

There were 273 photos in the event syncing from my Mac, but only the last 103 made it to the ipad. Most of the photos were taken by an iphone. I would appreciate any thoughts or insights - thanks.Adrian-
That error message suggests the photo is somehow corrupt.
Do you have the Apple Camera Connection Kit? You can set up a USB thumb drive with MS-DOS FAT-32 format and copy your photos to it into a folder named DCIM. Assuming they have an 8 character plus suffix name, the iPad will recognize them and give you the option of transferring them via the Kit's USB adapter.
Once they are transferred, you can find out if there is a problem with any.

i have a similiar problem:
i upgraded my mac from 10.6.8 to 10.7.something recently, but i did NOT update itunes, still running version 10.4.1. now i wanted to open itunes but it tells me, that my iTunes Library.itl was created by a newer version of iTunes - which i never used!
its annoying since i dont want to be forced to download a 720MB pckage of itunes every month - even more so, if the system start "lying" to me.
or is it another problem? anyone got the same? any solution? maybe an erratic prompt?

I recently purchased/upgraded from Premiere Elements 5 to Premiere Elements 9 and I cannot open the projects in version 9 that were created with version 5. It shows it as offline. I get a message to open up a file and when I do i receive the error message: The selected file cannot be linked because it has 6 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 2 audio channels. I guess I am really confused. The project that I am trying to open PrE 9 was completed in PrE 3 w/templates , scenes, etc. The movie was burned to a DVD. I cannot understand why I cannot open it with a newer version of PrE. According to G-Spot (I am assuming this is what you mean above), it is already in 2 channels. To me this should be ok. I put many, many hours into these videos and now it seems all for not.
Here is what I did so far:
I uploaded the required media files to a new project in PrE9 and let them index and conform. I saved the project with the same name in a different location. Do I have to do this to the project files and/or the original media files? Confusion starts here.
The next step is where I am confused. I do not know if I am proceeding in the right direction from here. There is the share tab in the upper right hand corner. Is this what you are talking about? I am truly lost from here.

Bought a brand new 30GB Ipod for my girlfriend. Trying to copy songs to it but whenever I import a CD to ITunes and then try to copy it to the iPod I get the error message:
"Some of the songs weren't copied...because they cannot be played on this ipod".
Huh? What's that? "Some" actually means all songs. Can't copy any CD songs. I've had an iPod mini for ages and have never seen this before.

When you put a CD in, highlight all the songs on the CD and convert them to MP3s. Once all the songs you selected have been converted to MP3s drag them to your library. Once in your library drag them to your ipod. It worked like a charm.
I also got this error when I bought a song from itunes. I save the file to my desktop, dragged it to my library and then to my ipod.
