Error message: cannot verify or repair storage
I am having problems with the storage function on my computer. I have a MacBook I bought in 2010 and upgraded with Mac OS Lion last year. I tried using disk utilitiy this afternoon because my computer was running sluggishly. When I tried to verify the disk, the error message "...unable to verify or repair storage" popped up and I can't get any farther. How can I repair or correct this problem?
I was able to do this and verified my disk. Was able to run repair though it didn't need. Thanks for help. Am still going to make an appointment to have it looked at to make sure the partitions aren't corrupted.

How do I resolve the iPad error message" cannot verify identity of server"
I have an iPad 2 model A1395 running iOS 7.2.1
When browsing in Safari I continually get the message:
Cannot verify server Identity Would you like to continue anyway? with the options: cancel, details, or continue
If I select continue, I can go on to the site. I've read that many others have this issue and eventually the iPad freezes on this error message.
I selected "details" on one particular website (this happens on multiple websites, not just this one) and got the following information:
details
www. google.com
Equifax Secure Certificate Authority
Not Trusted
I have searched and seen that this issue has been reported multiple times as far back as 2010, but each time the reply indicates that it is something about the specific website reported, however this happens on many different websites. Can someone please address the problem with iPAD rather than one specific site?Verify that your time and date settings are correct. I have had this issue before where I had to temporarily change the date for something, and forgot to change it back. Also, my friend had this issue and was wondering why YouTube, Instagram, Vine, and anything on the internet simply wouldn't work. Turned out his date was very off, and I switched it back and it resolved the issue. Does it do this for some sites and not others? As far as I am concerned, this happened on ALL websites when the date was wrong on both my iPad, and my friends iPad.
If that still doesn't help, try connecting to the sites with this issue using different WiFi connections.
If THAT doesn't work, go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Lastly, if all else fails, restore the iPad to factory settings, and try then. After that, I am not sure what you could do. -
I keep getting an error message that reads: Not enough storage This iphone cannot be backed up because there is not enough icloud storage available. What does this mean? How do I fix it?
Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: go to Settings - iCloud - Storage and backup - turn off the iCloud backup
and backup with iTunes from now on

Or, if you prefer to keep backing up with iCloud, check out this article, it will help you understand how to manage the iCloud storage:

I got this error message when verifying the disk
The electricity in my apartment was abruptly shut down while I was using my imac. After I'd got all the electricity back on, I turn on my mac and found that when I verified the disk in disk utility I got this error message.
Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
Checking HFS Plus volume.

Checking Catalog file.

Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

The repair button is in grey so I couldn't do anything. So far, the computer seemed to work fine, but what is the necessary thing to do in this situation??
Can anyone help?? please.
NavinI'd stay away from disk warrior etc. Try disk utility.
DiskWarrior is not a disk repair program in the conventional sense. Instead of patching the original directory, it uses a patent-pending technology to quickly build a new replacement directory using data recovered from the original directory, thereby recovering files and folders that you thought were lost and that no other program could recover.
I've never had trouble with Journaled HFS+ volumes but if I did I try disk utility to repair. Then run fsck from single-user-mode. Then, if that failed I'd pull my data off and erase.
I've never had any persistent luck with norton type utilities, the problems always come back until I erase. -
i have a slow macbook, i ran live disk utilities (from hard drive), turned out I needed to repair disk from a installation disk. Did that, I got the volume (Hard drive) repaired from the installation disk disk. To this point, great!
When I reboot from hdd, then run disk utility, I get the same error message i did b4 repair. I went thru two rounds of this.....
Can anyone help? thanksSorry guys, I don't see how to reply to you so I use reply to "me" basically.
So the error I get is "volume header needs minor repair" and then you need to perform repair from the installation disk message.
I did repair not verify from the disk twice. Every time ending in the "the volume had ha been successfully repaired". Then I reboot from the internal disk. Run disk utilities from it, do verify and get the same error message I got before repair. I hope this can shed some light fr you guys. Sorry I didn't include details in the original

Error message "Live file system repair is not supported."
System won't boot. Directed to Disk Utility to repair but get error message "Live file system repair is not supported." Appreciate all help.
Thanks.
JohnI recently ran into a similar issue with my Time Machine backup disk. After about 6 days of no backups - I had swapped the disk for my photo library for a media project; I reattached the Time Machine disk and attempted a backup.
Time Machine could not backup to the disk. Running Disk Utility and attempting to Repair the disk ended up returning the "Live file system repair is not supported" message.
After much experimentaion with disk analysis softwares, I came to the realization that the issue might be that the USB disk dock wasn't connected directly to the MacBook Pro - it was daisy-chained through a USB Hub.
Connecting the USB disk dock directly to the MBP and running Disk Utility appears to have resolved the issue. DU ran for about 6 hours and succesfully repaired the disk. Consequently, I have been able to use that Time Machine disk for subsequent backups. -
I am using a 2003 eMac and am running on Mac OSX vs 10.4.11. I amrunning iTunes 8.2.1 (6) and not able to upgrade iTunes on this computer. iTunes is not recognizing music I have purchased and when I try to connect when it request me to I get the following error message:
Cannot complete iTunes Store request. A required iTunes component is not installed (-42404)
Please help.Is this music purchased back in DRM days? I don't actually have any iTunes music so I can't test with my iTunes 7.5, but I know that without iTunes 10 you cannot even connect to the store anymore. I wouldn't think that would require an active connection to the store all the time, otherwise how could you play music on a computer in the middle of nowhere? Did you do something to trigger iTunes suddenly wanting to connect and check on machine authorization?

My iPod touch 4th gen. Keeps giving me the error message "cannot connect to the app store when I sign in. I can open the app store and browse it but I can't download anything. I have full signal strength with my wi-fi and safari is working perfect. I turned it off and restarted it 3 times now. I have an iPad 2 and the app store works flawlessly with it. What is going on?
Same here on my lpad2. Can access the web just fine from browsers but cannot install new apps or updates in appl store. Seeing a few others reporting same issue tonight so likely an apple server issue and staff will notice it in network monitors and fix it...sometime this weekend.

I am trying to download itunes to windows 7 and keep getting the error message "cannot access network location $APPDATA%\." I have contacted an Apple advisor and was not able to resolve the problem. What to do?
Since this a problem pertaining to the iTunes application, you might have better luck posting this in the iTunes forum.

i bought an eBook from iTunes. I can view/read it perfectly on my iPhone but when I try to open the eBook file on my iPad, I get the error message, "Cannot open book. This book is protected by an incompatible technology." Any ideas for me? thx
Welcome to the Apple Community.
I have seen previous versions mentioned in a pop up message before on iCloud.com, but I'm not really sure at all how it would help, as I couldn't get it to do anything.
The best advice I have at this time is to back up your work on your iOS device by regularly saving it to iTunes, if anything goes wrong you can then either load it into the numbers app again on the device or recover it via iTunes on your computer.
My syncs are immediate, I never get chance to see if it works in the background, sorry. -
while syncing iPad with my computer, i get an error message: cannot back-up to this computer. I'd like to know why? Is it safe to download IOS6 if the ipad is not backed up?
This is the same computer that I originally synced with the iPad and the first backup worked. Is there any way too solve this problem so I can upgrade to iOS 6

Getting error message Cannot Resolve Symbol when trying to compile a class
Hello All -
I am getting an error message cannot resolve symbol while trying to compile a java class that calls another java class in the same package. The called class compiles fine, but the calling class generates
the following error message:
D:\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\cal>javac
ConnectionPool.java
ConnectionPool.java:158: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : class PooledConnection
location: class cal.ConnectionPool
private void addConnection(PooledConnection value) {
^
ConnectionPool.java:144: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : class PooledConnection
location: class cal.ConnectionPool
PooledConnection pcon = new PooledConnection(con);
^
ConnectionPool.java:144: cannot resolve symbol
symbol : class PooledConnection
location: class cal.ConnectionPool
PooledConnection pcon = new PooledConnection(con);
The code is listed as follows for PooledConnection.java (it compiles fine)
package cal;
import java.sql.*;
public class PooledConnection {
// Real JDBC Connection
private Connection connection = null;
// boolean flag used to determine if connection is in use
private boolean inuse = false;
// Constructor that takes the passed in JDBC Connection
// and stores it in the connection attribute.
public PooledConnection(Connection value) {
if ( value != null ) {
connection = value;
// Returns a reference to the JDBC Connection
public Connection getConnection() {
// get the JDBC Connection
return connection;
// Set the status of the PooledConnection.
public void setInUse(boolean value) {
inuse = value;
// Returns the current status of the PooledConnection.
public boolean inUse() {
return inuse;
// Close the real JDBC Connection
public void close() {
try {
connection.close();
catch (SQLException sqle) {
System.err.println(sqle.getMessage());
Now the code for ConnectionPool.java class that gives the cannot

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
tnx..
addiIs ConnectionPool in this "cal" package as well as PooledConnection? From the directory you are compiling from it appears that it is. If it is, then you are compiling it incorrectly. To compile ConnectionPool (and PooledConnection similarly), you must change the current directory to the one that contains cal and type
javac cal/ConnectionPool. -
I keep trying to upgrade my iPad using iTunes..The error message "cannot attach to iTunes store...error message (-3212). Suggestions?
I get that problem once in a while and I will not be able to connect to the Internet with any of the 5 or 6 (or 7 or 8 ) web browsers that I use on my iPad. The one thing that I do that has never failed to work for me is to close all apps on my iPad and reset the device. I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but this works for me every time I get the server failed to load/can't connect to the Internet message.... Or whatever the exact message is.
If you have a ton of apps in the multitasking display, it can take a while to close them all, so you could just trey resetting the iPad first and that might be all that you need to do.
Closing apps in iOS 7 works like this. Drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
