I'm installing the newest version of Itunes over the last version on my laptop. win 7 pro os. it starts the install then a error msg comes up stating that Bonjour service failed to start. verify that i have sufficient priveleges to start system services. I can't retry, ignore only cancel which un-installs all that it has installed and reverts me to the last version which i had. any idea?

it starts the install then a error msg comes up stating that Bonjour service failed to start. verify that i have sufficient priveleges to start system services.
Sometimes we can get past that one by disabling the Bonjour Service prior to the install.
In your Start menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Perhaps maximise the screen to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the Bonjour Service and select "Properties".
In the General tab, set the Startup type to "Disabled":
    ... and click OK.
Restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Windows XP:  removed bonjour by accident in the add/remove program.  Now, everytime i log on, i get an error message that reads.

This application has failed to start because dnssd.dll was not found.  Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
Tried reloading my Airport Extreme CD, but no luck.
Googled this error & got nowhere.  How can i get fix this annoying error message?

Which Bonjour were you using, daniel? The Bonjour Print Services type, or the one that comes bundled with iTunes?

    Hi Drake,
Yes, it is common, and I wouldn't worry about it.
These "errors" are not about anything wrong. My guess is that it's a developer jargon to indicate that something didn't happen, only because there is no possibility of it happening given your specific settings/system options.
See for example the statements "System woke from sleep" or "System going to sleep" in "error_log"...
We don't know to what extend these "errors" belong to so many unmodified files that used to do something in UNIX 15 years ago, but are now completely useless, harmless and so small they can't affect Mac OS X performance in any way?
    Enjoy your Mac!

  • When I try to download iTunes I this error message "an old version of Bonjour cannot be deleted" and when I try it won't let me saying that the bonjour.msi is missing.

I am trying to download iTunes, it gets so far and then I get an error message that says that an old Bonjour cannot be removed, it goes on a bit further and says and old Apple Software Update cannot be removed; and then it says that the installation was interrupted and to try again.
I have gone to the control panel and tried to remove all traces of Bonjour, Apple, Quicktime but the two will not be removed it says that their .msi file and missing and to try to find them.  I have even reinstalled the programs from the ProgramData files in an attempt to repair or replace the missing files but I still get the same answer.
Can anyone help me? I need iTunes up and running to sync with my phones.
    Thank you for your help,
    Barbara

    Hi Barbara,
I had a similar problem recently and using the "more like this" feature I discovered an answer. To a problem posed by Holo7,  who like myself was a newbie on this platform,  b noir proposed a solution to Holo7's problem that also worked with my problem. It involves downloading a version of MS Windows Instal Cleanup and using it to completely remove all traces of the old version.
If you look at my problem (follow OldGit66) and the link to Holo7's problem then you will find b noir's answer which I think may help you. I am new around here so you might want to wait for one of the higher status correspondents.

    Thanks for looking

    Hi Cappe2572,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
As you were trying to reinstall iTunes, had you removed the previous install in the correct order first?
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then, restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components, may have unintended affects.
It then goes on to verify components are completely removed and to reinstall.
    Take care,
    Nubz

  • Trying to sync selected (greyed out) contacts to my replacement 4s.  Get error messages - computer not setup to sync - override or OK.  OK - session could not start.  How do I fix?

I have a new replacement 4s.  I am trying to set it up.  I hate iCloud but need it to sync my calendar to my phone.  I mistakenly set it up to sync Contacts too and found out it synced ALL contacts which I do NOT want.  I used to use iTunes to sync only selected contact folders (one I call Sync).  Others are too sensitive to have on my phone.  So I turned off "where is my iPhone", and turned off "Contacts" on iCloud.  It said it would delete all my contacts on my phone the next time I sync (using iTunes).  So I try to sync my Contacts using iTunes and find that under "Info" on the device tabs my only possible selection is ALL contacts with the "Selected" button greyed out.  But even leaving all checked, I get the message "iTunes cannot sync information with the iPhone because syncing has been disabled on this computer (my Mac).  Do you want to enable syncing?"  I hit the button "Enable syncing" and I get the error message "Syncing cannot be enabled on this computer"  with "Override" and "OK" my choices.  If I select "OK" I get the error message "iTunes could not sync information to the iPhone (Name) because a sync session could not be started".  I can sync my music and my apps but get this stupid message otherwise.  What gives and I do I fix this?  Thanks

Actually I can't sync anything - no music, photos, etc.  And it tries to start syncing as soon as I plug in my iphone and itunes is open.  It ends "sync" but hasn't done anything.  I have tried deleting lockdown files (per "solution" found here).  I have deleted all my backups (per other "solutions").  I have restored my iphone 2x.  I have done soft boots of my iphone.  My macbookpro 10.9.3.  iphone 7.1.1.  iTunes 11.2.2 (3).

  • Re: I get an error message you have an older version of Bonjour and it cannot be updated. I need to update my itunes but because of bonjour i can't.  please help

Re: I get an error message when I tried to install the lastest version of itunes.  The error message is you have an older version of Bonjour and it cannot be updated.  I went to control panel and repair the bonjour from programs but it won't let me undate it.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459

    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.

  • Unable to start bonjour. when uninstalling get error message 32 bit needs 64

I had trouble loading apple control panel.  kept getting error message at installation that the install is a 32 bit, requires a 64 bit version
I went to bonjour as instructed but could find 64 bit version.
I then uninstalled bonljour printer but the install for control panel was the same
I uninstalled bonjour printer, and found another bonjour that apparently was installed in 2011.  When I tried to unistall that program, I got the same this installer is a 32 bit, requires a 64 bit.  I am unable to unistall bonjour and still cannot install control panel  this is on a dell inspiron tower.

When deploying, the webservice .lvws file is stored in a the following location:
    32-bit webservices on 64-bit win 7/win vista:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Documents\LabVIEW Data\WebServices\Standalone
    64-bit webservices on 64-bit win 7/win vista:
    C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Documents\LabVIEW Data\WebServices\Standalone
    32-bit webservices on 32-bit win 7/win vista:
    C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Documents\LabVIEW Data\WebServices\Standalone
    Win XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\My Documents\LabVIEW Data\WebServices\Standalone
If you do not want your web service to be loaded after subsequent reboots, you can clean up the .lvws files from these locations.
If you want your web service to be loaded only once after you deploy, you can uncheck the "Deploy as standalone Web Service" checkbox in the "Service Settings" tab of the web services properties dialog. You will need to rebuild your web service after making this change. This will make sure that the web service is NOT built as a standalone service, meaning that it will cease to exist once the instance of the process that deploys the web service exits (LabVIEW). Please make sure that you clean up your existing standalone web service completely before trying to deploy a web service with the name that is not standalone.
