Error message - File format is too new for this version...

This is a new Error message. Never seen it before. How can a project file be too new. I'm on FCP 6, and always have been. Just started getting the message today. Some projects launch fine, some get about 1/2 way through the Reading Project load, then the program hangs, till I force a Quit.
Ideas?

Nick,
I re-installed Final Cut 6.0.5 - the only version I've ever owned. I updated the Pro Opps. I restarted. Still no good. THEN... my internal 1TB Hard Drive crashed. Off the desktop. Disk Utility.app says it is not repairable. Do you think it caused the problem, as it was dying? Do you have a suggestion for trying to recover the drive. Of course, that is where all my data files are.

  • File's format is too new for this version of the application

A project that was edited in FCE on an iMac will not open in FCE on a MacBook Pro. When I try to open it, I receive the error: File's format is too new for this version of the application.
The FCE that was installed on the MacBook Pro is exactly same copy as the one loaded onto the above mentioned iMac -- they were each were installed from the same, Apple Store purchased disk.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Did you apply the FCE 4.0.1 update on both machines?

I have seen this same thread and now answer. I would appreciate some major help from the top users on here! thanks guys

the projects included with this book were built with and for FCP 6 ... if you do not have FCP 6 then its no good to you.
what version of FCP are you running? with FCP open, choose *Final Cut Pro* menu *> About Final Cut Pro* and see what version it says there in the splash screen

  • I finished adding my transtions to my timeline.  I was having crashing issues so I shut down everything before I rendered the project and now it tells me that the project is unreadable or the file is too new for this version of final cut. What Happened?

I finished adding my transtions to my timeline.  I was having crashing issues so I shut down everything before I rendered the project and now it tells me that the project is unreadable or the file is too new for this version of final cut. What Happened?

    What Happened?
No way for us to know.  But if your system was crashing, there definitely was a problem.  The FCE error message you got normally indicates the FCE project file has been corrupted.  This probably happened due to whatever caused your system to crash & shutting down the system.
First, make sure your system is running correctly.  Then, use the Finder to navigate to /users/yourusername/Documents/Final Cut Express Documents/Autosave Vault and find the most recent backup copy of your FCE project file.  Copy the file to your Final Cut Express Documents folder (copy the file, don't just move it).  Then double-click the copy to open it in FCE.  It should open ok, but will probably not have your most recent edits (transitions).  You may have to rebuild the transitions, but at least you will be back in action.

  • Can't use Safari - Error message saying it's too new for my OS.

I was prompted to update Safari and once completed I could no longer use it. Everytime I open it now it says it's too new for my OS X. Is this forcing me to get Snow Leopard? Can I rollback to the previous one? I've tried re-installing but it still does not work.

Yes you can get the earlier version. The link for the download is below.

  • What does the Error Message: "File format not supported" mean?

When I first open an existing project, I get an Error Message: "File format not supported".   After a few seconds all the windows open up and I can continue to edit.  My question is will this "File format not supported" haunt me later or shall I continue to edit as I am doing? Why does this error message come up?  All the current footage is shot on same camera, the Canon 5D Mark III at 23.98 time code rate,  1920 x 1080.

  • DRM-79819: Encryption error: Config file encryption is not valid for this m

    Hi ALL,
Suddenly we got this error while running an export via batch utility. any ideas?
Error: DRM-79819: Encryption error: Config file encryption is not valid for this machine.

This could be an issue with your drm-config.xml file, the file that stores the DRM configuration information defined in the DRM Console. If a drm-config.xml was restored from an old backup or copied from another machine, this could well be the issue.
In this case, you can run the DRM Console to update the file and correct it. You may see a one-time error reported when the DRM Console starts up, but the Console app should correct the file automatically after reporting the error to the user.
If this does not resolve your issue, review the Windows App Event Log, to determine which DRM Server process(es) are also reporting this error (to narrow down any other potential issues with a config file for one of the DRM Server executables). I am guessing this error was observed in just the DRM Batch client, but related Event Log should also be present in the App Event Log.
    HTH.
*** An additional note, if your issue proves to be the one above, you may need re-enter passwords on your defined Database Connections for defined DRM Apps. Try just re-running the DRM Console and re-saving the config initially, but be aware this may be a required additional step, re-entering the DB passwords after the updated encryption has been applied to the stored drm-config.xml file.

  • File's format too new for this application

I am trying to use FCP6, which I just installed, on my new MacBook Air.  I have been editing in FCP6 for years on my iMac, and there are some projects I'd like to work on while I'm on the road, so I got a new MacBook for that purpose.  From the iMac, I was using an external drive to capture the footage and the fcp file is also on the external drive.  But when I hooked up the external drive to the new MacBook Air, I get the warning that "the file's format is too new to use with this application".  How do I solve this?  For what it's worth, the iMac is still on Mavericks, but the MacBook Air is on Yosemite.  Does that make a difference?

How did you do the installation of FCP6 on your new computer?
If it was from your original install discs, you may need to update the FCP6 that is on your laptop to a later version of FCP.6.
On your iMac, open FCP and once open go to the menu Final Cut Pro > About Final Cut Pro and look at your exact version number.
Then do the same for your laptop.
You may want to try migrating FCP6 from your iMac to your new computer to get the correct version on the laptop.

  • Pre 9 error message "File video dimensions too large"

Pre 9 has given me an error message: "File video dimensions (width/height) too large"  while getting media file (still images) for my movie.
    What does that mean?
My movie's about 15 mins long so far. A mixture of pictures and videos.
    Thanks,
    Pascale

    Pascale
Your message means that your photo has exceeded the total number of pixels (16777216) supported by Premiere Elements 9 for the still image.
I have gone into full detail on the issue and what needs to be done in post 6 of this older Adobe Premiere Elements Forum thread.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/732067
What are the pixel dimensions of the photos that are triggering this message in Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1? Also what is the frame aspect ratio, 4:3 or 16:9? What is you destination...DVD-VIDEO standard on DVD disc or DVD-VIDEO widescreen on DVD disc?
This type of message is not present in later versions of Premiere Elements. But, even though the message in those later versions does not prohibit you from continuing as in version 9.0/9.0.1, that does not necessary mean that because you can you should.
    We can discuss this further.
    Thanks.

  • Oracle Error 1801 - "Date format is too large for internal format"

We have an application deployed under WebLogic and are using the Oracle JDBC drivers to talk to the DB. It appears that when under heavy load and trying to hit a stored procedure we get "Action:EnrollParticipant,Error
type:Application error,doing:writeEmpUpdate,dbcode:-1801,ssn:xxxxxxxxxx". The dbcode of 1801 is a "Date format is too large for internal format". Has anyone had this happen, or know what the solution might be?

  • CS5 error message - file-format module interface

First post - sorry if it's not in the best place.  CS5 has suddenly fallen over with the following error message when trying to open a raw file (.CR2 / 5DII), which it could open previously:
"Could not complete request because of a problem with the file-format module interface".
Googling has not produced much at all on this topic, and none of it helpful.
    Any thoughts on this please?

Thanks for getting back to me.  I've made a little progress.  It seems that my usual identity is corrupted, or is being affected by PS crashes, which are crashing the DDE server window and also preventing some other applications (such as Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and even Internet Explorer) from running in that identity too.  If I close and restart that identity, it's fine again as long as I don't even open PS.
So I created a new identity just to see if PS would run OK there, and it did, for about 4 hours, but then errors started to recur, such as 'PS has encountered an expected problem and needs to close....' when opening raw files.  As I'm trying to finish off editing a set of wedding photos, this is a pain.
I'll try reinstalling PS, but I suspect the problems I'm seeing may be due to a lack of resources.  So, reluctantly, I'm thinking it may be time to replace my faithful and carefully maintained Pentium 4 running XP, and enter the dizzy world of 64-bit.  One issue may be installing CS5 on a new machine, since I only have an upgrade disk, having migrated all the way from a full copy of PS6, via a CS2 upgrade.  I understand that it would be wise to go for Windows 7 Pro, which contains an emulation of XP and therefore allows older 32-bit software to be installed.  Any other points to consider?
By the way, your suggested search for the file 'camera raw.8bi' turned up two versions - the CS5 one, and the older CS2 file.

  • Error message file format not supported

while importing footage from the sony fs-100 to premier pro cs6, I get an error message that reads "file format not supported", and lists every file in the folder i just tried to import. however, once I exit out of that message window, all of those files are available and seem to have imported without error, in spite of the error message. I have scanned through a lot of it, and I can't seem to find any problems, or unwanted artifacts in the footage or audio. I even placed a few clips in the timeline and exported it, and the exported video was also fine. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the footage but I'm afraid to build this large project only to find something wrong with it down the line. please help me.

In the folder along with the video files are a number of 'metadata' files, it is these files that Premiere is saying are not recognised, as you have found the video imports fine. When importing using the Media Browser these files tell Premiere how to treat spanned clips amongst other things. As Ann says it always works better if you use the Media Browser for importing any asset.

  • File Format is too New

I got some files from the computers at school with the hopes of working on them at home, and it says the files are too new. i thought i had he most up to date version, but i guess not. What can i do to work on my movie at home? or is this not possible? Thanks

Doesn't really matter, does it? If your home install says it's too new and you've got 5.0.4, the only thing it can be at school is 5.1.x - and the only way to work on it at home is to (as others have mentioned) export an XML of your project and import that into a new project at home...
