Error message Firefox.exe Bad Image c:\PROGRA\Google\GOOGLE\GOEC62 1.DLL is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error.

I have uninstalled Firefox & re-installed but I keep getting this error message. What can I do?

Don't think so ... most references I can find online to that message suggest it's associated with Microsoft Office installs.

  • Since trying to install the latest version of ITunes I have not been able to get it to launch at all! I get a message that says " C:Programme files\common files\Apple\Apple Push service.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains an error. "

Please help! After I click ok on the error message above I get another message box that says "ITunes not installed Error 7 (Windows error 193)
I have uninstalled it and re-installed it, I have rsn the repair ITunes, I have re doqnloaded Quicktime- nothing will work
    Thanks

I also had this issue when one day itunes stopped working for me on windows 8...
the error message I received first was: C:Programme files\common files\Apple\Apple Push service.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains an error.
followed by: ITunes not installed Error 7 (Windows error 193)
Your response addressed how to fix this issue with earlier windows operating systems, but not for windows 8, so what ended up working for me was your advice applied a little differently. For anyone running windows 8 needing to know how to resolve this issue by repairing the Apple Application Support program, try following these simple steps - what a relief it was to have itunes working again after applying b noir's answer to the windows 8 operating system!
    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Control Panel.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.)
    2. Click the Programs and Features icon.
    3. In the list of programs and features, find the Apple Application Support feature and click to select it.
    4.  In the gray title bar above it, click Repair.
    5. Approve the window prompts that follow until the repair has been completed.
    6. Relaunch iTunes.
Hope this helps & good luck!

  • Can't open Thunderbird..icud+52.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains error. extra error msg can't ld xpcom

having lots of problems with TB lately but until today it worked itself out somehow....now today I- can't open it. suddenly after being prompted to update TB I get error messages. 'program files(x86) Mozilla/Thunderbird/ icud+52.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains error. install again or contact software vendor' then after I click that away get another one 'cannot load xpcom' . I am not very tech savvy with computers but have tried every reasonable thing I trust myself doing. I thought it might have to do with a an outdated Firefox so reinstalled that. I have searched high and low on how to uninstall TB and reinstall again WITHOUT losing any emails...,but none of the answers I found on this question are clear about this so I don't dare to do it yet. I don't have my pop address emails redirected anywhere else (not to webmail) so only access them via TB on my computer. How can I solve this without losing ALL my existing emails and email folders?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi Chanpuff,
I have a look at my own Windows 8.1 machine, the sqmapi.dll  in 'C:\Program Files
(x86)\Windows Portable Devices' is 217KB and in “C:\Program Files \Windows Portable Devices” is 272KB.
If you want to make a modification to the files, it is recommended to make a restore point and backup the important data to reduce the risk of unexpected error.
“Would it be safe to try it out? Or are there other possible solutions?”
The SqmApi.dll is a part of system ,we don`t recommend to try to repair it with a thirty party software. We cannot verify the safety of the software.
    I agree with
DonPick, to ensure the safety of the whole system .It is recommended to have a full scan of the whole system.
    Best regards

  • Firefox does not start. constant error message: firefox.exe-bad image

The complete error message: The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\xul.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette. What doe this message mean? How can this problem be fixed?

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox if you can start Firefox in Safe Mode.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • Adobe Premier 11. Error. C:Windows\syste32\acitfx64.dii is either not designed to run of windows or

    Adobe Premier Elements 11.
    Problem. is    C:Windows\system32\acitfx64.dll.
is either no desisgned to run on windows or it contains an error..BAD IMAGE........
i HAVE UNINSTALLED AND RE-INSTALLED BUT HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM
CAN ANHYONE HELP ME AS I AM GETTING FED UP WITH TRYING.....

    Annabelle
Let us go through the usual drill...
    a. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 11 Windows?
    b. Are you running the program as Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Priviledges?
    c. Is your video card driver up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card?
    Then...
    a. What is your computer operating system? And, 32 bit or 64 bit?
If any of the above does not factor into a fix for this, let us try this, assuming you have installation files and serial number that you can use for a reinstall...I am assuming you do.
    a. Uninstall the program via the regular Control Panel route.
    b. Run the computer through the free ccleaner (regular and registry cleaning components)...say Yes to the Step about backup the registry.
    c. Reinstall the program with anti-virus and firewalls turned off for these processes.
I have used ccleaner for years (I have no promotional interests in it.) and only good results, no horror stories. I find it compares with the more powerful Revo Professional for this purpose.
When you purchased the program, did you do the purchase/download of installation files to this same computer on which you are trying to install it now?
Is your Internet connection on and working?
Please review the above and then we will plan further troubleshooting strategy which might include seeing if we can get a second download of your installation files from Adobe.
    More later.

  • When trying to open itunes. Error message: iTunes.exe - Bad Image

I am unable to open iTunes and I recive this message when I open it up, "The application or DLL C:/WINDOWS/system32/softpub.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." Any help to what this means? Thanks

Fix digital signing of Windows drivers
In some cases an issue with the digital signing of certain Windows XP drivers can prevent iTunes from launching. Use the following steps to correct such issues:
    1. Highlight all of the following 4 lines of text that begin with regsvr32 and then choose Copy from the Edit menu of your web browser:
    regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
    regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
    regsvr32 /s initpki.dll
    2. Open the Notepad program by navigating to:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad
    3. In Notepad, choose Paste from the Edit menu. Note: make sure that the text that appears in Notepad is the same as what is shown above.
    4. From the File menu, choose Save As.
    5. In the File name: field type iTunes.bat and save the file to the Desktop.
    6. Close Notepad and locate the iTunes.bat file. It should appear on the Desktop.
    7. Double-click the file and you will see a black window appear on the screen for about a minute. Wait until the window automatically disappears and proceed to the next step.
    8. The iTunes.bat file can be deleted at this time.
    9. Try opening iTunes again.

  • System32\dssenh.dll is not designed to run on this computer or has an error...

I have downloaded the latest version of itunes 10.6.3 and when I go to open it I receive a error  C:\Windows\system32\dssenh.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
I have installed, uninstalled and re-installed with no luck.  I appreciated any help you might be able to offer.
    Thank you in advance.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with one of the Windows OS dlls associated with Cryptographic Services.
I'd first try the fixit from the following Microsoft document. (One of the things it does is reregister your copy of the dssenh.dll file.)
You cannot install some updates or programs
... but if you still get the issue, I'd try an sfc /scannow as per the instructions in the following document:
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

  • Firefox won't start, no error message, firefox.exe showing in Task Manager Processes

Firefox (v3.6.6 on Windows Vista) will not open. When the icon is clicked, the hourglass shows for a few seconds, goes away, and nothing else happens. There are no error messages. 'firefox.exe' shows on the Task Managers Processes tab. I also cannot open Firefox in SafeMode or with the ProfileManager.
I have tried restarting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, deleting my firefox profile. I have tried all of these things multiple times in different orders with no results.

dmcritchie, thank you for your reply!
Before I received your response, I tried something that seems to have worked. I used Chrome to go to the Firefox website and downloaded Firefox (without uninstalling it first) and went through the installation process again. For some reason, this worked, even though I already had the latest version of Firefox, and I can now open Firefox successfully.
If it stops working again, I will try your suggestion. In the meantime, thank you much!

  • I've begun getting the error message "firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" when clicking on some links.

This happens especially with certain news sites (e.g., NY Times), but also with others. I've updated Firefox and plugins, and checked for the malware file nsBrowserOpt.dll in the components folder of Firefox. My antivirus is up to date. I was able to access the problem sites with IE, though Explorer gave me a similar error message this morning.

    I'm asking for more information.
Please try that in [[safe mode]] and check for the issue.
