    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

    After opening my yahoo mail window, I keep getting a very short and narrow dialogue box with the words "log into Xmarks" I cannot ... when it pops up, always upper left of my laptop screen and I try to get into my yahoo mail web page, I get a DING sound and cannot enter it ... everything is frozen. I have to hit CNTRL + ALT + ESC to get rid of it - and then reload my Firefox browser to get back to my yahoo e-mail page ... fortunately for me, Firefox re-stores a previous session ... How can I get rid of this intrusive thing, and what is it? Thanks in advance ... Ted Beaudoin, Welland, ON, Canada

  • Almost everytime I click on a website it redirects me somewhere else. I deleted all my files from my computer and have not reloaded them. I ran an antivirus program and it shows nothing. How do I get rid of this redirect???

    I don't know what other details I can give you. I get redirected when I want to go to most websites. How do I get rid of it?

    Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

  • My sister's email pops up when I turn on my IPad and it is annoying. How do I get rid of this pop up? My email is also available but she registered my IPad as it is a gift from her and she had an apple ID.

    I bought an IPad4 in Virginia, USA, as a gift to my brother who lives in India.  I registered it when I purchased it and may have entered my email at registration per guidance I got in the Applestore.
    When I gave it to him I remember setting up his email.  However, he says that my email pops up annoyingly and he is asked for an Apple PW but if he ignores it, it goes away--it is a minor irritation and he wishes he could either stop it from popping up or hide the pop-up.
    Is this possible?
    What are the steps?
    MalathiVA

    Hi MalathiVA,
    Have him go into Setting>Notifications>Mail, and turn the Notification OFF, Badge App Icon = OFF, New Mail Sound = None. (or, he can leave the sound on if he wants to know when new mail comes in). Unfortunately, with both email accounts set up on the iPad, you can't tell it to tell you about one without the other.
    Things can get fairly complicated if iCloud is involved. If it is your iCloud account that is set up on the iPad, then he will just have to deal with the two emails.....
    Cheers,

  • Has anyone noticed Assistantservices. framework folder bouncing on Dock during dictation and then it stops? How do I get rid of this?

    For example, while using TextEdit?

    The senior advisor that I was working with asked me to create a new partition on my MacBook Pro and complete a fresh install of OS X Mountain Lion. After partitioning the HD and installing I tested dictation and did not experience the issue. The advisor then told me that it was a third-party application that I had installed causing the problem and she had no fix.
    Personally I have found a fix and I given it to the advisor so hopefully the engineering team could get it put in an update through the Mac App Store.
    If you would like to try the fix that I have found here it is.
    Head over to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AssistantServices.framework/Versions/A/Resour ces/Info.plist and open it in TextEdit or similar.
    Paste this code between the fourth and fifth lines:
                             <key>NSUIElement</key> <string>1</string>
    You should end up with this:
                              <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
                             <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

  • I don't like Firefox 4.0 and want to go back to the last version.. how do i get rid of this version?

    the other version let me access my email on the homepage now i have to go to bookmarks...how do i get rid of this version???!!!

    That sounds like the difference between the new Firefox home page '''about:home''' and the previous Google Search page which has '''GMail''' at the top if you used GMail.
    You can change your home page so that it points to what you had before, which It would be something like:
    * http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
    Note on Google pages
    * They won't show GMail at the top until you have gone to GMail

    * [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/search.htm Search and Substitution Shortcuts especially for Firefox users]
    * [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm Firefox Keyword Shortcuts]
    But I don't really understand why you or anyone else would want to use such a page for a home page, it is redundant. You have as many search engines as you want in the search bar, the default search is Google.
    You can invoke '''GMail''', any search, any bookmark, any bookmarklet with a [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm keyword shortcut] .
    '''You're not stuck with how the toolbars have been changed''' in Firefox 4.0, '''this is Firefox''', you can '''customize''' it. That is why Firefox became so popular, you can customize it how you want it with Customize Toolbars, Extensions, Themes, Styles.
    You can make '''Firefox 4.0.1''' look like '''Firefox 3.6.17''', see numbered items '''1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)]
