Error message I receive when trying to install Quicktime 7.3...

I keep receiving this error message when trying to install Quicktime 7.3. I have removed anything Apple or QuickTime from Add/Remove, but at the end of the installation I keep getting this error mesage:
"The older version of QuickTime could not be removed. Contact your technical support group".
I have no clue what to do to resolve the issue and the software is paid for and has been useless for months due to this error. I'm completely out of ideas. Can someone please help me? I have called tech support but after about 7 hours of help and escalations and everything elser, Apple can't even fix it. The unit is clean, COMPLETELY!
Thank you in advance for any help I am given.
Cheers

+BTW, while on the phone with tech support, I used the MS tool "Windows Install Cleanup", which I'm sure deals with the MSI stuff.+
Yeah, that's usually most helpful (immediately) when you get your message in conjunction with a missing QuickTime.msi message. The "standalone" version of your message tends to be a bit trickier to deal with.
Lets head back into Windows CleanUp one more time, to check on a possibility.
Launch CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). Are there any mysterious blank lines (or lines containing just a version number, but not mentioning a name of any program) showing up in the list of programs in CleanUp?

  • Error Message access denied when trying to install on SD Card

    Hi,
I got this errormessage whan I'm trying to install the image about CMD (run as Admin):
    C:\FFUTEST>dism.exe /Apply-Image /ImageFile:flash.ffu /ApplyDrive:\\.\PhysicalDr
    ive1 /SkipPlatformCheck
    Access is denied.
    Does anybody know a solution?

Are you able to see the SD card in file explorer?  When you performed the diskpart command sequence:
    diskpart
    list disk
    exit
Did your SD card show up as physicaldrive1?
Is the SD card either 8 or 16 GB in size and Class 10?
Also, are you running this command on a Windows 10 install?
You might check that explorer or cmd don't have a reference to the SD card still.  If a program is accessing the card that might prevent DISM from accessing it in exclusive mode.

  • Error Code 1612 received when trying to install the latest Adobe reader 9.3.3

I am using Windows XP service pack 3 along with Office 2007.  Presently have Adobe Reader 9.3.2 and 9.3.2 - CPSID_53951 (the update installed on 4/16/10).  Reader ver. 9.3.3 automatically downloaded as it should, but when I try to install I get the message code 1612 which refers that the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.  I tried to unstall the Reader 9.3.2 and it will not uninstall.  Saw the previous answers regarding downloading the Windows Installer Clean-Up Kit and one made mention not to use it with Office 2007 products.
Can you tell me how I should proceed?  Sure don't won't to mess up my computer or other programs.
    Thank you.

Thank you for the information.  It appears there are different versions of the clean-up utility - do you recommend one over the other are a particular website that you trust?
Again, thanks for any information that you can give me.

  • Error about HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE when trying to install QuickTime 7.2

This is the error I receive when trying to install Quicktime: "Could not open key: HKEYLOCALMACHINE|Software|Classes|QuickTimePlayerLib.QuickTimePlayerApp|CLSID. Verify that you have access to that key."
I have manually edited the Regedit permissions to include all, restarted the computer, and tried again... get the same Error message. I have also uninstalled both iTunes and QuickTime first, and used a Windows Cleanup utility.
    Thanks, Merber

If you go to Start>Settings>Control Panel and open the User Accounts control panel. Does the account name that is being used to log onto the computer, appear in there as a Computer administrator? Also if you right click on CLSID go to Permissions>Advanced>Owner, is this account name showing up in there?

I recieve the following error message when trying to install Quicktime for Windows "Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."  I just trying to get the latest version of iTunes.  Thanks

"Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Ok, I just found another site that had step by step. You:
Delete your email account in settings (mail, contacts, calendars)
Go to safari and clear history and cookies
Go back and re enter email account details in mail, contact, calendar settings)
    This actually worked for me,
NOTE: you must clear everything before re-entering your email account. That's what I didn't do last time, so probably why it didn't work first time round.
Hope it works for you too.

  • Error message when trying to install Quicktime 7.2

When I try to install Quicktime 7.2 on my MacBook Pro, I get a message saying that there was an error and I need to try again. When I have tried via Software Update, it says it has moved the download to the trash. I am running OS 10.4.10. If it is an additional clue, I also tried downloading and installing Onyx and ran into a similar problem.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You are trying to update to OS X 10.8.2 using the conventional update package for other Macs.
You have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, and it needs a special 10.8.2 version. To install it, open  > Software Update and install all the available updates

  • Error due MSVCR80.dll when trying to install Wirel...

    Hi,
A search of Nokia discussion threads and elsewhere on the web shows that a range of problems are being caused by MSVCR80.dll but there appear to be no definitive solutions.
I have a Nokia6120Classic. When I run the CD and select to install the Phone component of Wireless Presenter I get the following message:
Executable 'D:\fscommand\WirelessPresenter.exe' had the following unrecoverable error: Couldn't find library MSCVR80.dll (required by C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\msohevi.dll) Please enure that it is installed.
Any attempt to install the Speech Application Term Bank gives rise to the same error.
There have been no problems installing other software applications (including the PC component of Wireless Presenter).
Based on what I have seen in other threads that I have read the system32 folder should(?) hold the dll. It is not in the folder. A search shows that the dll is present elsewhere in my installation of XP Ver 5.1 Service Pack 3. Placing a copy of MSVCR80.dll in system32 folder simply gave rise to a run time error when trying to complete the instal.
I have Nokia PC Suite Version 7.0.7.0 installed. Each element of PC Suite that I have used seems to be working OK.
Can anyone advise what I need to do to get Wireless Presenter working?
    Regards,
    Tesa

Sometimes these have to registered into Windows. If you have dropped the dll into the system32 folder, try this:
    Click START -> RUN
    In the dialog box, type:
    regserv32 MSVCR80.dll
and then hit ENTER. You should get a confirmation of a successful registration.
Now try running the Wireless Presenter installation CD.

  • Error message in KP97 when trying to copy planning

    Hello,
When we try to copy one version (13) to another (0), we get 2 different error messages:
    1) First message:
    The planning record already exists
    Message no. GP705
    Diagnosis
The CO interface is parametrized in such a way that you cannot overwrite planned records that already exist (paramter UPDATE_VALUES = SPACE). Activity record with key 46000KLADMX0000005280PM3SB 2010000 is to be transferred. However, this record already exists in table COSLA.
==> We receive this message because the system detects that there are standard prices already maintained for those activities. However, we used to maintain our activity prices and THEN execute t-code KP97 and we never got those error messages.
    2) Second message:
The CO interface has been preconfigured so that existing plan records are not overwritten.
Cost element record with the key
    46000KSADMX0000005280       2010010000000720004          RKP1          SCAD
should be transferred, but this record already exists.
==> we receive this message because the system detects that the are budgeted amounts maintained in KP06... but there are no amounts maintained for those cost elements !
I CAN'T use the «reset and overwrite» button, because it's going to erase all my activity prices.

If there is a record and you are trying to copy using KP97, it is supposed to give you an error. If you want to overwrite the record, then you have to select 'reset and overwrite'. I dont understand why you dont want to select it? If you can please elaborate your issue.
