Error message ID: -5000

I am changing computer (OSX) and when I try to save change made to old drawings on new computer I am told that I do not have enough "rights" to do this. Error message is ID: -5000.
What to do?
Using Illustartor CC.

Either the Mac client or some of Adobe products are not handling SMB files share on Mac servers under 10.9.4 If I log into a share using AFP the problem goes away, not surprising. Under Finder select GO/Connect to server then enter this into the dialog afp://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX you need to know the IP address of your server of course which you would replace the X's with.
This issues seams to be on the Mac client side when using the SMB file protocol because there is another thread that talks about using a Windows Server as well. Since Indesign, in my case, has no problems with with SMB but Illustrator and Photoshop do it appears the issue could do those products. Apple has release the last few updates unusually close together so Adobe may not be up-to-date with the current changes. Hopefully Apple has fixed the SMB issues dating back to OS X 10.7 and Adobe is able to fix their issue if it is them. I will help in any way I can to fix the issue this Discussion Thread with created around.

TRYING TO DOWNLAOD DIGITAL COPY OF PROMETHEUS ONTO ITUNES. KEEP GETTING AN ERROR MESSAGE OF 5000. CAN ANY ONE HELP?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Getting an error message (-5000) while trying to backup my iphone4 that says i will lose all content if i continue

getting an error message while trying to backup my IPhone 4 that says i will lose all content if i continue. error message is (-5000). what does this mean and how do i fix the problem?

Well, when you click on "update" and it goes partway through and then says it can't continue that does look somewhat error-like to me. :-).  I did do a synch when I first plugged  the iPad into my desktop, but had to upgrade iTunes and reboot before upgrading the iPad OS, so everything should be backed up.  I hope!  I don't know how to check on whether things like my appointments or files that I have created get saved in a synch.  Selecting each of my pictures and emailing them to myself is an option, I guess.
I am new to the apple world and the thought of losing six month's worth of stuff is intimidating.  If only I knew which things would get lost, I'd be able to work with it.
    Thanks!

  • Downloading OS 5.0.1 and I keep getting a (-5000) error message

I am trying to update my iPhone 4 to the OS 5.0.1 and I get this error message... "An error occurred while backing up this iPhone (-5000).  Would you like to continue to update this iPhone?  Continuing will result in the loss of all contents on this iPhone."
Don't want that!  Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

I had the same issue.  I closed iTunes, restarted the computer and then tried again. This time it would sync.  Another thing I tried was switching USB ports I was connecting through.

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • Error message -5000 when syncing

I didn't have any problems syncing my iPod touch before I downloaded IOS5.  Now when I try to sync, my music library gets halted partway through the sync and I get an error message that says "unknown error -5000".  I can see all of my music on the iPod but it's pale gray and unaccessible.  Has anybody else had this issue before?

There is no documentation on this crazy error code.  But, I think I figured this out.  I down loaded the latest version of desktop software to my desktop - running Aug 25, 2010 bundle 47.  I am running 64 bit Windows 7, new PC.  I received the error 0x83860028.  I went into "Organizer" and clicked on the "Reset Settings" button.  I then reconfigured the settings to sync e-mail and calendar only.
I then re-ran the sync and it worked.  I am no techie but found this with luck.  Good luck.

  • What does Error message (-5000) indicate

I get this error message when I try to update my Iphone 3GS

    Appname:itunes.exe Appver.10.1.0.56
That is basically saying that it's iTunes version 10.1.0.56 that is having an error.
Are you also seeing a ModVer and a ModName? If so, what are they? (Precise spelling please.) With any luck, they will give us some more insight into what's causing the iTunes error.

    Rationale
Creating the recommended indices significantly improves the execution plan
of this statement. However, it might be preferable to run "Access Advisor"
using a representative SQL workload as opposed to a single statement. This
will allow to get comprehensive index recommendations which takes into
account index maintenance overhead and additional space consumption.
