Error Message in Garageband

Hello.
Can anyone tell me what this means? I get the following error message in Garageband during playback of one song I am working on.
"Error Code -39 was returned by the CoreAudio driver"
I have NO IDEA what this means and I have looked everywhere, and I even called Apple Tech Support and they did not know. (Kinda stupid, huh?)

Error -39 is an "unexpected end of file" error - something in your song must be corrupt. Try to rescue what you can rescue, a couple of possibilities:
- Save your song under a different name and see if that works.
- If not: Create a new song and try copying over the tracks one by one to see which one is causing the trouble.

I tried to open a file recorded in garageband and got an error message that said, "The file couldn’t be opened because it isn’t in the correct format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format."
I need to listen to this file today for a class (it was an interview with someone that i did for a project and i cannot re-do the interview), but it won't open.  The file extension still says .band so I don't know what the problem is.  I did earlier accidentally try and open it using itunes, but it doesn't show that it changed anything in the file.
How do I access this file?

how would I do this?  When I look at the package contents, the only thing in there is a folder called "output" which contains a file called "Output.aif"
I don't understand how this happened, all i did was try to open the file in the wrong program on accident.  I really need this for a class and will pretty much be screwed if I can't get it.  Is there anywhere else where I could just find the sound file?  I didn't even do anything fancy with it, just recorded and saved

I was trying to upload from my iPad to my pc.
That was hard for us to guess, from your post It might have helped to mention the iPad.
How are you trying to save the song to your PC? Are you sending the song to iTunes? If yes, as a project or as an audio file? Make sure, you select "AAC" and not "GarageBand", when you share the song from your iPad.
If the clip is not too large, you might alternately try to share it by mail, see:

  • Garageband error message 8 bit

Garageband had been doing well for us, until the other day when sharing to ITunes, an error message saying, 'unsupported file type, files found at 8 bit...', and i've tried everything to change the file types even online, to reset preferences, including the 'audio midi' and so on.  Still it says that this song, which had previously been successfully uploaded to ITunes, etc., and which we're now re-mixing, will not let us do anything as far as saving or changing to 16 bits and so on. What is going on, please? How may we fix it?   Thanks!
basically: how can i send the song to itunes where it can be converted to an mp3, since the error message occurs 'wrong file type ..8 bit' when i try to send the newly edited song to itunes.
i have, which is not on the list, a macbook pro 10.5.8 and garageband 08 4.1.2

Do your files have the extension showing? If not, you could experiment adding extensions like .aif, .aiff and see if that makes a difference, and also slide the files directly onto the Quicktime icon, forcing Quicktime to open it if it possibly can.
I was curious about this so I checked it out. The Wikipedia page lists a few issues that could cause problems:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AudioInterchange_FileFormat
Other than that, the only thing I can think of is file corruption.

  • No Audio Playback due to Error Message "Disk is too slow. (Prepare) (-10001)"

Out of the blue, no audio playback.  Was working just fine earlier today.
I repeatedly get the error message:
    Disk is too slow. (Prepare)
    (-10001)
NOTE: I have more than enough disc space.  That is NOT the issue.
I also just got a second error message:
Part of the Project was not played
This project has too many real instrument tracks to be played in real-time. To optimize performance, see the 'Optimizing GarageBand performance' page in GarageBand Help.
NOTE: Odd as I have only 2 tracks in the GarageBand file.
    Any others experience this?  Suggestions?

Have a look into the Preferences folder (YourUserFolder/Libraries/Preferences/) and trash all Logic preferences.
You'll have to setup the program again.

  • Startling error messages when trying to bounce my final mixes down.

Friends, Im nervous about this one as I've logged in 100+ hours and dropped a little bit of $ for off-site recording.
When Im ready to "send songs to disk", an error message pops up saying "GarageBand found 2 audio files in 8-bit format" "This format is unsupported and can not be played back" with an OK" option. After pressing OK, it proceeds to mix down but saves nowehere on my comp (or drive).
After restarting and trying to reopen the session, Im given this error message: "This file type is not supported and gives me the truly horrible option of "abort". Then it gives me the error message again.
It then gives me the original error message once more: "GarageBand found 2 audio files in 8-bit format" "This format is unsupported and can not be played back" with an OK" option. After I press it, it gives me that same message again for good measure and now the session is up.
But I cant save it and I cant send a mix anywhere. So Im pretty screwed?
We did a little off-site recording and imported those files Sunday, but Ive been working on it for a few days before these glitches came through.
    HELP!
Im on a brand new MacBook OSX10.9 with Garage Band !! 6.0.5

    Thank you, Leonie for replying.
So I went to the contents of the file and took the problem files out.
It immediatley pops up a error saying that a track was not found. "Audio File "guiro.wav" not found"
Obviously, since the track for guiro is still there.
But as I tried to move on, I still got a ""GarageBand found 1 audio file in 8-bit format" before I could get to the session and start deleting them.
As I began doing just that, that same ol' error message popped up fpr every move and then when I finished, it still wouldnt save anything saying..."The document 'SongFour.band' could not be saved.

  • Why am I getting this error message, "Disk is too slow. (Prepare) (-10001)"

Hello all!  I've been using GarageBand for a while now and I've accumulated quite a few files.  Along with all of my movies and iTunes library, my internal hard drive filled up rapidly and I didn't catch it.  I received a warning message on my screen one day saying that my hard drive was nearly full and I only had a few MB available.  I'm using a 150 GB Solid State Hard Disk on my 2009 MacBook Pro (2.6 GHz Intel Cre 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM).  I remembered reading a while back that it's better to use an external hard drive for pretty much everything when using Garageband, so I bought one.  I now have a seagate 500 GB, 5400 rpm external (USB 2.0) and I moved ALL of my movies and music over to it.  I freed up around 60 GB of space on my internal hard drive in doing so.
So now that I've given you a little background, let me explain the issue I'm having.  Before I noticed that my hard drive was full, I started receiving this error message:
    Disk is too slow. (Prepare)
    (-10001)
Upon receiving this message, I was unable to do pretty much anything in GarageBand.  I couldn't listen to tracks, export to iTunes, or do anything!  All I'm using GarageBand for is editing.  My band and I do all our recording (and mixing) offsite at a separate studio and i just deliver a 2 track stereo signal (L/R) to my MacBook.  From there, I just cut the individual tracks from a block of 30-45 minutes of recording because we just record our entire studio session and mix everything there.  I pretty much never have more than two tracks and a few effects going at the same time.
After I realized that my disk was nearly full, I consulted my brother-in-law.  He's head of the IT Deartpment at a major hospital here in West L.A. and he told me that I may have created a problem with the cache by filling up my internal hard drive and that I may still have issues with performance even after I free up space.  He then told me that I may need to reboot my MacBook a few time to "free up the cache" (or something close to that, sorry guys I'm not that tech-savvy).  It seems he may have been right, as I'm still experiencing the same issue.  I rebooted around 10 times overall to no avail.  I'm still using my internal hard drive to store the files that I'm working on (temporarily) because USB 2.0 is way too slow for my liking, when using GarageBand.
I've read quite a few articles on this offering solutions such as:
    1.  Do a complete Uninstall and Reinstall of GarageBand
    2.  Clone my hard drive to my external, format it, and reinstall everything back on it
    3.  Get a hard drive that supports Firewire 800 (The HDD I bought is USB 2.0, but it has two USB cables to increase speed, but I only have 1 port and I tried      a powered USB Hub, but this HDD won't work with it for some reason).
    4.  Use different editing software.
    5.  Take it to Apple!
Will any of these things fix my problem?  Are some better than others?  Before I do anything, I wanted to ask this question on the furum to see if anybody had an easier (or cheaper!) solution.  Any suggestions, tips, or advice would be much appreciated, as my band is starting to get on my case about finishing our CD!  Thanks...

  • Error message in iDVD - too much motion in the menu?

i keep getting this error message:
"The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:
    - There seems to be too much motion menu content in your project. Correct this problem before you continue burning this project."
even if i take off all the motion in the menus (im guessing that's dragging a video into a loadzone) i still cant burn the dvd
    any ideas?
how can i still incorporate the videos in the menus tho? (cos i really like that, just looping in the menu)
    thank you very much
    cheers
    miki

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The total playing time of any videos or audio in menus must be less than 15 minutes. Check the Info pane for the project and see what the menus are listed at. I believe if you add a 4 minute audio track for a menu and only have 30 seconds being used the entire 4 minutes is used. So if you want to use just a part of a song, copy it to the desktop from iTunes and use Garageband or a 3rd party editor like Amadeus Pro to cut out just that portion you want to use.
If you've removed some of the media from the menus and it still lists as too much, use the Advanced menu to delete encoded assets and try saving as a disk image. If it saves OK you can play the disk image with DVD Player to preview the encoding before burning to disk with Disk Utility (at the slowest speed possible).

  • Error message trying to synchronise audio and midi sample rate 42463

I have a Rode Podcaster mic that is terrific. It has been working fine in GB. suddenly I am getting this when I try to record my podcast:
'Error message trying to synchronise audio and midi sample rate 42463 recognised. Check conflict between Garageband and external device'
Has anyone experienced this before? How do I resolve it? I'm still using my Version 6.0.5.
Apple, is this a way of forcing me to upgrade to V10?

Just click the icon on each track that stops it acting as a live input. It looks like a sound wave. Only have them clicked orange when using the track to record! I don't know if that will solve your problem!

  • Error message when working on one pre-recorded track

Hello!  I'm using GB 5.1, and have been encountering a frustrating problem:
I have one mp3 audio track (of a group discussion) imported from a digital recorder.  I've processed this kind of file many times, as a Real Instrument track. Mostly I've had no problem.  But with this track, after some editing, when I advance the playhead to a different place in the track, a loud click happens and the following text appears in a window:
Part of the project was not played.
This project has too many real instrument tracks to be played in real-time.
To optimize performance, see the 'Optimizing GarageBand performance' page in GarageBand Help.
Moving the playhead to different places in the track brings the click and the same error message, except that sometimes the track will begin playing, only to have this repeat again. When I quit the project, delete it, import the raw mp3 again, and begin editing, sometimes it works, but sometimes, like now, the same problem occurs after just a few edits.
I don't understand the "too many real instrument tracks" error, because I'm using only one.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

The error message may be misleading. You may see this warning, when your Mac is running out of RAM. For example, when you have too many open applications that are RAM hogs, like Safari, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iTunes. Or when one of the applications you are running has a memory leak. Do you see any error messages in the Console window?
I'd recommend to reboot your Mac, before starting to work on your project - that will free any memory, that other applications may have been leaking;  also close any application that you do not really need, while working on a music project.
How much RAM do you have, btw.? And how full is your harddrive? If this is running out of space, you may see similar warnings.

    Léonie

  • I open iTunes and I received this error message (-45054), then my iTunes closes. How can I fix this?

After the latest update I did, 23Oct2013 7:30pm PT, my iTunes no longer opens up without the error message (-45054). I click "ok" to acknowledge the message and it immediately closes iTunes with no further information. Any help would be greatly appreciated, expecially if it's an actual employee of Apple. A fellow musican I know had an identical issue with this and asked me to check it out.  I fixed it and wrote a long set of instructions on my blog.  His problem was with 10.6 but it was an update he did preparing to move to Mavericks.
I was able to reproduce the error by just removing the /Shared folder from /Users

I'm trying to burn a dvd from idvd but I keep getting error message, broken assets, but when I check my drop zones and their content there's no error messages on any of them?

    Hi
And if You change view - in main "window/view field" so that You see the box-plot structure.
No exclamation marks there either ?
and non at the front page ?
iDVD do not copy Your material - only points to where it is stored. So if on any external hard disks, USB-memories, CDs or DVDs are missing - assetts are broken.
Or if You changed location of any material or directed iPhoto or iTunes or GarageBand to a new Library - Then iMovie/iDVD also get's lost.
