Error message in iPhoto concerning MobileMe

"An error occurred with the publication of album “Screensaver Photos.”
Your MobileMe account information is not correct. The provided login or password is not valid."
I checked my password in MobileMe, everything seems fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks very much

It turns out that I'd changed my password on the web site and in my System Preferences login, but iPhoto evidently uses a different Keychain entry. And it isn't smart enough to give you the chance to enter the correct password.
I tried repairing the Keychain to no avail (repair didn't find any errors, nor did that let iPhoto connect) ... so then I searched the Keychain for all mac.com entries and went through each one to make sure the password was correct. I found several Keychain entries associated with mac.com, and most of them still had the old password. Changing all of them to the new password fixed the issue with iPhoto.

  • Keep getting error message that iphoto has detected inconsistencies and needs to rebuild

while adding photos to library keep getting error message that iphoto has detected inconsistencies and needs to rebuild the library..how do I fix?

    By rebuilding your library.
Back up your iPhoto library before you do that.
If iPhoto is open, quit it.
Hold down the Option and Command keys while you open iPhoto (click the iPhoto icon in the Dock).
The Photo Library First Aid window opens.
Click "Rebuild database" and click the "rebuild" button.
If this does not solve the problem, see "option 2" in Terence Devlin's post here:

  • Do not have mobileme account, but, iphoto starts connection process and I get repeated error messages "difficulty connecting to mobileme"...how do I fix?

I do not have a MobileMe account.  Yet, when trying to upload photos from iPhoto to FaceBook I get repeated messages, "Difficulty connecting to MobileMe."  This is after the rainbow wheel spins for a while.  Sometimes I have to force quit iPhoto because iPhoto locks up.  This also happens on occasion while I'm working in iPhoto, such as moving between albums or editing features.  I use iPhoto '11 with latest updates.  How can I resolve this issue?

    Hey,
If you've resolved the issue by turning off syncing then no further troubleshooting is needed.  Having syncing turned off will prevent you from syncing an iOS device over USB with calendars / contacts.  The only time iPhoto talks to MobileMe is if you have a MobileMe account added (as far as I am aware).
If you wish to troubleshoot further:
    I checked out my User>Library>Caches and >Preferences.  Neither had a >com.apple.iphoto file.
These must exist otherwise iPhoto would not be working at all as they are required for it to launch.  Lets try another route to get to the same location.
Click on the Finder icon in the dock (smiley face)
Go to "Go" > "Home" at the top of the computer screen
    Double-click "Library"
    Double-click "Caches"
Go to "View" > "As List" at the top of the computer screen
-- This list should now be alphabetical...if not click on the column called "Name" to alphabatize
-- Locate a blue folder called "com.apple.iphoto" and remove to the trash
Click on the Finder icon in the dock (smiley face)
Go to "Go" > "Home" at the top of the computer screen
    Double-click "Library"
    Double-click "Preferences"
Go to "View" > "As List" at the top of the computer screen
-- This list should now be alphabetical...if not click on the column called "Name" to alphabatize
-- Locate the files called "com.apple.iphoto" they will have a variety of endings. As long as they say "com.apple.iphoto" drag them to the trash.
    - Restart the computer
If the issue persists I would try with a new iPhoto Library.  Hold down option and launch iPhoto and create a new library.  Add a picture or two and then test.

  • Error message in iphoto

Some photo's in my iphoto library are not allowing me to open them up.  When I click on them a triangle comes up with an exclamation point in it with an error message stating: a necessary data reference could not be resolved.  Does anyone know what that's about, these are photo's that I used to be able to open???

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • "Unable to Create Volumes" error message in iPhoto export

Hi. I am attempting to export all of my videos from iPhoto onto an external drive. I have read several articles in this community, but so far my problem has not been solved. I keep getting the error message "Unable to /create/volumes/Lisa's Prtable Drive..." when I attempt to export. I have experimented with changing batch names, selecting fewer movies to export, etc. I AM able to export one video at a time, but I have 719 videos to move, and would much rather do them all at once.
    Thank you for any help!

If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
    open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    followed by Enter.
    launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
    3 - try again.

  • Do you know this error message in iphoto?

I created an album yesterday in iphoto.  I then made a slideshow, which i put music from my itunes to. Everything worked fine until today, after I added more photos to it (supplied by a friend on CD).... Now I keep getting a pop up error message regarding various jpegs:
The volume for “IMG_0169.JPG” cannot be found.  Insert the disk or connect to the server volume and wait for it to appear on the desktop, then try again.
Can't seem to get rid of this pop up and i don't know what it means... and i want to be able to burn the slideshow to a DVD-R for a presentation tomorrow... Please help!  Thanks!

Hi there.  I did the Import to Library, but still am getting error message with some of the images... So I give up on using those particular images.  Part of the problem, I think, is that some of them (but not all) were on a Read-Only CD.... the images that I dragged and dropped show up in my iphoto, but can't be used....
Moving on to the next step, I have created my iphoto slideshow, with music, and now I need to be able to copy to DVD-R for others.... can I burn the disc right out of the iphoto program, or do I have to transport to iDVD (which someone else told me to do)?
THanks for your help on all of this!  I really appreciate it.  I am in over my head on this!

  • Blank error message in iphoto?

    Hi
Seemingly out of the blue iphoto 11 has taken to having a blank message when I try to send a photo by email. I assume it's an error message. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
The message comes up shortly after the animated blue sending bar at the bottom of the photo completes (which is, as it has always been, pretty instant). The message has only the iphoto icon it in with an exclamation mark - no text and there is only an option to click ok. On clicking ok the blue sending bar disappears but the cancel and send buttons remain. If you leave the email after this (in the hope it may be sending somehow) nothing happens, if you click send you get the same error all over again and if you click cancel it brings up the message 'Are you sure you want to delete this? If you don’t send it now, this email will be deleted and your changes will be lost.'
I've tried it with differing templates just in case that was causing the issue, and have of course re-started both the programme and the mac but nope.
    I'd welcome any help.
    Thank you

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    3 - reboot.
4 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Just installed iLife and get error message on iPhoto - damaged or incomplete

I have a Mac version 10.9.4. iPhoto worked fine.
I previously had a Mac and bought iLife 11 for it.
I have just installed the iLife 11 on the new Mac.
Now my iPhoto will not work. The error message I get is "You can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.'
I don't want to delete the app and re-install it yet because I fear losing all my precious photographs.
Can anyone tell me if my photographs will be saved? I have literally thousands.
    Is there any other fix?

Your photos are stored in your iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder.  Reinstalling iPhoto will not delete the iPhoto library, only the iPhoto application will be replaced.
The iPhoto version, that comes with the iLife '11 DVD is not compatible with OS X 10.9.4, you need to install iPhoto 9.5.1 from the App Store. Remove the damaged iPhoto.app version from the Applications folder and download iPhoto 9.5.1 from the Purchased tab of the App Store.

  • Error message with iPhoto Workflow

I have designed a workflow that detects TIF files that were modified within a certain timeframe (i.e. today), checks to see if they have a label, and if not will import them into iPhoto and then assigns a label designated "Imported into iPhoto." It is my way of synching Adobe Bridge with iPhoto. I create the file in Bridge, then import it into iPhoto. It seems to be working except I get an error message "iPhoto got an error: Can't make <<class imal>> into type reference. (-1700)."
The message doesn't seem to affect the workflow but I've had Automator workflows completely corrupt my iPhoto libraries in the past. Does anyone know what is going on with this error?

I'm getting the same error message, but in my case it is causing subsequent actions not to run. My workflow has the option checked to "delete source images after importing them", and that command does not run when the error message is encountered. I tried adding two actions after this one to get the specified items and then move them to the trash, but again no luck. When Automator encounters the iPhoto error message, the workflow is completely haulted. The photos are brought into iPhoto just fine, but everything that is supposed to happen after that fails.

  • HT201177 error message in iPhoto

I get a message saying 'searching for movie data in file MVI_xxxx.MOV' and it blocks my use of iPhoto. How can I resolve this

    - iPhoto 9.3
    - O/S 10.7.4
    - was editing phtographs when it first appeared
    - This began about 2 weeks ago having been using the programme since March
    - 2 error messages, one after the other
searching for movie data in file MVI_1236.MOV
    then
this movie file cannot be found. Without this file the movie cannot be played
    - I am not trying to play any movies.
I deleted Aperture as one of the troubleshoot replies suggested that.
I can find the movie files on Quick Time but they are blank. I am unable to delete them from there either as the option is not available

  • Error message on iPhoto 9.5.1

I have mavericks and I photo 9.5.1. when I try to start iPhoto get error message "can't open album. Upgrade to latest version. But I can't reinstall as in app store it says iPhoto already installed. what do i do?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Error message for iPhoto

I am receiving a message "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto." When I try to open iPhoto. It continues to say, "You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto." I did not make any changes to my knowledge, and I tried to download a newer version but it didn't work. Could anybody help me? Thank you, PATTY

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What version of iPhoto are you running and what updater did you try to run on it?
Try the three fixes below in order as needed:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos.
3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open Photo window
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Error message in iPhoto 09

I recently upgraded to iLife 11' and in doing so have also upgraded my OS to Lion.  Today when trying to show my toddler pics of himself as an infant all the thumbnails are present but when I try to go full screen I get the big triangular error image instead.  Does anyone know how to change this?
