Error message in iSync

iSync was working perfectly up until a couple of weeks ago - now I just get an error message when I try to open it in Applications. It reads "NSInvalidReceivePortException: connection went invalid while waiting for reply". My internet connection is fine. In Mobile Me the Sync tab greys out if I try to click on it. Has anyone had this problem and any suggestions on how to correct it?

full message is:

  • Error message starting iSync

When I try to start up iSync I get the following error message:
    iSync can’t be launched
SyncServices: Can't connect to sync server:

invalid while waiting for reply ((null))
iSync is supposed to sync my Entourage information with iDate and ICal in order to sync those with my Palm (what happened with the easy Palm sync of previous versions of entourage?).
Anyone any idea what the iSync crises is all about?

Ok, as the recommended method didn't work for you, try the usually not recommended method posted here:

Make sure you backup your Contacts and Calendars first.

have download a isync software from nokia website, but when i am trying to install the error message ask me to upgrade my isync. Problem is i try many times on software update but there is nothing to be update. My current Isync software version is 3.0.2.
FYI, i have try to remove my current isync then install new one but still does not work.

Make sure the iSync application is in your main Applications folder, not in any sub-folder. You should never move Apple apps from their default locations.

  • ISync fails - what to do with this error message?

I set my iMac to autosync everyday at a certain time. I realized that the last sync was 7/27/06, and when I go to Sync tab in the .Mac system preferences, I get the following ".Mac Sync Error" message exactly as follows:
    "* -[NSKeyedUnarchiver initForReadingWithData:]: incomprehensible archive (0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0)"
Any idea of what sync fails? and what I need to do ?
    Thanks!

With the release of Mac OS X 10.4 more than a year ago, iSync no longer has anything to do with the synchronization of contacts, calendars and tasks with .Mac - that is the responsibility of .Mac Sync. You should probably post you query in the .Mac Sync forum, here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=957
You may be able to deal with the error message by resetting the Sync Services framework—its truth database, actually—by launching iSync, opening the Preferences… dialog, and pressing the Reset Sync History button. That will leave your data intact and your sync clients registered, but reset the truth database and framework to behave in such a way that your next synchronization event will appear to be the first event you have ever performed.
The 'incomprehensible archive' the error message refers to is likely on your Macintosh.
Before proceeding further, back up your contact and calendar files using the built in provision to do so in both the Address Book and iCal. If resetting the database does not correct your issue, you can launch System Preferences, open the .Mac pane and press the Advanced tab. In the lower left corner is a Reset Sync History button. Press that, and in the dialog which appears, configure .Mac to overwrite the data files for one OS X application on your machine at a time, starting with contacts. Make sure that you overwrite your computer data [which you have just backed up, and can therefore restore if that is necessary] with the data from .Mac.

  • ISync Error Message

When I sync my PowerBook it works but I keep getting this cripic error message-
"lMac Sync Error [iSyncConcreteSession pushChange:]: you can't modify a record that doesn't exist: <iSyncChange 0x2e7bba0>[ modify record id 'D55300CE-A0D7-4813-A6E3-C37EC2FBD475'
    set title = Unfiled
    set com.apple.ical.type = local ]"
    Sometimes twice with different numbers.
Does anyone know what this means?
    Thanks

Are you talking about iSync or .Mac Sync? (They're different).
Anyway,it means you have some (possibly corrupted) data in one of your Calendars that is tripping SyncServices up.
Try exporting all your Calendars from iCal - then delete them all, quit iCal, then re-import them all again.

  • When Isync my iPhone with my mac desktop I get this error message, "iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found". Can anyone help?

When I connect my iPhone (ios 4.3.3) to my Desktop Mac I get an error message. "iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." This happened while I was downloading photos from iPhoto.

Close "iPhoto" if it is open. Open the "Pictures" folder and right-click on "iPhoto Library." Select "Show Package Contents." Right-click the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, select "Move to Trash" and sync your iPhone. The error message should no longer appear.
    if that doesn't work,
uninstall itunes and download the lastest version

  • Some applications will not open with an error message it is incomplete or broken

A few applications like iChat, iSync and iCal will not open and has an error message that they are incomplete or broken. How do I fix them and how did they come to be this way? There are no updates to load.

You probably ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • ERROR MESSAGES WHILE SYNCING IPHONE 3GS WITH ITUNES 11.0.1

ERROR MESSAGES WHILE SYNCING IPHONE 3GS WITH ITUNES 11.0.1
I just upgraded to iTunes 11.0.1 and although my music, podcast and apps sync with my iPhone 3GS (Version 4.1), iCal and Address Book doesn't! I get the following error messages:
After clicking OK, another dialog box appears that states:
Also, iSync has this to say:
Until the upgrade, I had no problems syncing my iPhone 3GS with iTunes!
How can I correct this new issue?
Thank you very much in advance,
    David Sampson.

Mmmmmm how strange.... have just closed and reopened and problem seems to have cleared.....

  • Tim Machine: no error messages but not backing up

My Time Machine does not seem to back up any more as it should.
There are no error messages, Time Machine is switched on, spinning once an hour, there is enough space on the external HD. I can enter Time Machine and browse through the history.
    However,
    • When I go back to 14 JUN, it shows me files modified today (17 JUN). Shouldn't this be impossible?
    • When I go to the corresponding folder on the HD, I can see a version of the file in question that was modified on 11 JUN, the day of the very first initial backup. I definitely know that it was modified on13 JUN, though.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Any fix?
Btw, I am switching back and forth between two different external HDs for Time Machine, which worked fine for a long time before things went funny a few weeks ago. Then I completely deleted the whole external HD and started Time Machine over but it seems this did not work (except for a successful initial backup).
I'm on Mac OS 10.6.8 on an iMac 7,1.

I'm having this too, Nokia 6681 and most recent iSync... Contacts are working fine, Calandars are not.
Note that before latest revision Calandars were no problem...

  • Palm Error Message?

I finally got iSync to recognize my Palm (Zire 72), but now when I try to sync I get this error message on my Palm
"Unable to initiate HotSync operation becase th eport is in use by another application"
My Mac Bluetooth reads that the Palm is connected, but the Palm is not recognizing the computer or something.....not exactly sure what this means.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I've had this error in the past. A reboot cured it.

  • Error message syncing with dot mac

I keep getting the following errormessage after syncing ical with my dotmac account (I typed *** exact as possible, but I not sure about the spaces):
    * -[CalendarChangeLogMapper
    performSelector:withObject:]: null selector
I have no idea what this means, or how to correct this.
    Anyone?

Thanks Dancin'. By the way, I solved my problem as follows:
    1. I unregistered both my main computer (running Tiger) and my laptop (running 10.3)
    2. After unregistering both computers I responded to the message about deleting unused iSync files on dotMac and I deleted iCal only.
    3. Then I re-registered my main computer and performed the initial sync for iCal only (all calendars). That worked, whereas before I was getting an error message.
    4. I connected my Palm device and launched iSync and reset the Palm calendar and ToDo items. This worked fine whereas before I was getting an error message.
    5. I went to my laptop (connected to the LAN) and registered it to dotMac.
    6. I reset my iCal on the laptop.
The suggestion to do all this came from Apple after i submitted a trouble report to them as per an earlier suggestion by some bright person in this thread. They responded within 24 hours with a long email with the above procedure. So it appears that there are known issues with Tiger because they asked me to send them any calendar files that ended up causing a problem. I didn't really have any corrupted files apparently.
Three things they did suggest as a best practice when using iCal:
    - Create finite events that have a beginning and an end. Try not to let events continue over several years.
    - Examine To Do item, titles, and notes to verify the integrity of the data.
    - Try removing the alarms
    Hope this helps!

  • Windows Vista: Ipod Error Message, no longer read by PCs

    Hello,
I have a 5th generation black ipod video with 30GB of memory.
The other day I hooked it up to my laptop (Toshiba, 4 months old) that it's been functioning on with no problems whatsoever. This weird error message flashed twice about it not being able to sync because of some software problem.
Eversince then, the only thing I can charge my ipod on is the family treadmill in the basement (~_~) as no other computer in the house recognizes it. I can't even charge it through the wall sockets, either.
I have changed the ipod cord, still no luck. I've also reset the device about 3 or 4 times and uninstalled, restarted the laptop then reinstalled itunes. I would like to reset it back to factory settings but that's impossible as computers/laptops don't pick it up. I live very far from a Mac store...
What's a girl to do? I can't live without my Busta Rhymes and Wu-Tang Clan!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
