Error message "itunes could not connect to the ipad because an invalid response was received from the device".

Hi, I am having problems with itunes and my ipad........
I can use my ipad on my laptop but it will not connect to my main PC, I get the error message:
"itunes could not connect to the ipad because an invalid response was received from the device"
I have done all the Apple support ideas including re-installing itunes twice but no joy.
It used to work a week or so ago and no, I can't think of anything I have done which would have stopped it.
I have run msconfig and disabled everything but still no connection.
Anyone got any ideas?????

  • Itunes could not connect to the ipad because an invalid response was received from the device

    Hello
I just installed the maximus v extreme motherboard with a ocz vertex 4 ssd with windows 7 x64. Installation was fine and installing drivers went without a hitch. Re-installing the software i use went fine as well.
However, when i went to use iTunes( v10.7) to sync my ipad i got an error message saying:
"Itunes could not connect to the ipad because an invalid response was received from the device"
I then connected my ipod nano to see if it will cause the same error, but it worked fine. So i tried an iphone and the same error I got for my ipad came up.
I tried reinstalling the usb drivers, but the same error came up. I also updated BIOS to the latest version, but the error still came up. I also reinstalled itunes numerous times and still got the error. I reinstalled and updated all drivers as well. Again this did not fix the issue. I also tried to run itunes in vista compatability and xp compatability mode. Again this did not fix the issue.
I have also followed all the steps apple recommends to do on their website with regards to this issue, again it did not fix the issue.
It is a real pain as everything else works like a dream! Is there anything i can do to get itunes to work properly on my pc?
    Thank you for your help!
    System specs:
    asus rampage v extreme motherboard
    OCZ vertex 4 SSD
    8 Gb DDR3 RAM (1600 mHz)
    windows7 x64
    Intel i7 3.5Ghz 1155
nvidia GTX295  (x2 running in Sli)

I fixed this problem.  Believe the problem is iOS 7 incompatibility with older iTunes Versions on older MacOS systems or platforms.
My iPad 2 would no longer sync with my old  PowerPC Mac mini running MacOS. My iPhone 3GS synced fine.  IPad2 updated to iOS 7 which doesn't run on my iPhone 3GS. Error message for iPad sync problem was "invalid response received from iPad" out of iTunes.  I then applied update iOS 7.1.2 to iPad and error message changed to indicate this version of iTunes not supported, use 11.1.
iPad 2 used to sync prior to iOS 7 installation.
Research on Apple web site shows iOS 7 on iPhones and iPads does not support older MacOS and iTunes versions.
Upgraded with new Mac mini and iTunes 11.1 and MacOS 10.9.2. (put this off as long as I could.  )
    all good now.

    Hi LizzardAir,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there may be a connection issue between your computer and iPad.
The support article iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting has some steps to try:
iTunes cannot connect to the [iPad] because an invalid response received from the device
This error occurs when there are problems communicating through USB. This may be resolved by following the steps for errors 13 or 14.
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
    1. Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
    2. Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    3. Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    4. Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
    5. There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
    6. Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
    7. Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
    Best,
    -Jeremy

  • I'm getting this error message: "iTunes could not connect to this iPad. Could not save the pairing record."

My iPad wont turn off completely, nor will it boot up, it just keeps thinking about it.  Pretty sure my kids ran up all the memory, and I tried connecting it to iMac to dump pictures, but it only lets me get through it half way, and continues to reboot and gives me through iTunes the error message that it could not save the pairing record?

Disconnect it and restart your iMac and try again.

Has anyone else seen this message and figured out how to fix it?
    Mike

This could be caused by a USB connection issue. Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the Mac using the USB cable it came with. Also, try disconnecting all other USB devices.
If you haven't already try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see an Apple logo as described here:http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743

  • ITunes error message / "iTunes could not connect to the music store...

The past week, I have been having problems connecting to the iTunes music store. I purchased my ipod in 10/05 and have had no problems until recently. I keep receiving the following error message:
"iTunes could not connect to the music store. Network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct & network connection is active, then try again."
I went onto the website, and checked various things. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and the software, checked to see if I have any firewalls (none), checked to see if I have Windows XP service pack 2 (I have 1), and contacted my ISP (AOL). Help! I have AOL 8.0 dial up, and have had service with them for a couple of years now, so that is not an issue. Per AOL, I tried uninstalling AOL adapter and restarting my computer, and also deleting cookies and deleting files/all offline content, defaulted my security settings (they were the same), and reset web settings. I have restarted my computer, but am still having the same issues. I already contacted iTunes about this issue, and they sent me the same email twice, with the same instructions as their website, which I indicated I already tried numerous times. I have also checked my connections, and everything is fune. I try to access iTunes after logging into AOL.
Thank you in advance to everybody that responds.
    Emily

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I keep trying to do that, and have not been able to download for about a week. After contact customer support, I received the general "technical support" email, which is the same information found on the website. After replying to the email, which stated that I tried already tried the methods listed, I received the same email again. After replying to that email which included the previous threads, I received an email stating that the deparment I replied to does not handle technical issues. So, tonight, I re-emailed them with all of the threads and asked for an explanation of why I received technical emails if they do not respond to technical emails. It will be interesting to see how they respond, although it will probably be some general email. I sometimes respond to member service emails at my place of employment, so I know the procedure. The bottom line is that I should receive answers to my questions, even if the answer is something along these lines:
"I am researching your problem, and will contact you within the next xx hours/business days with a resolution. We value you as a customer, and strive to maintain excellent customer support and satisfaction. Thank you for your patience."
Or, a similar response. I know there is a general response library. And, I also know that if some body is unable to answer a question, as customer support, they should try utilize their resources. Basically, be a problem solver.

    Hi All,
I'm a rookie to the whol Apple ipod nano, etc, etc. I bought the generation 3 nano yesterday. I successfully downloaded a CD to the nano, but when i tried to download a tv show and open itunes i get the follow error message:

The funny thing is, is that i'm not even on a network. I'm just doing this from home and not connected to a network. internet connection works, I ran the diagnostic and nothing weird came up? Any suggestion for a newbee.

Hi, I am having the same problem and I get the message: "iTUNES could not connect to the iTUNES store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again." I just downloaded 2 songs no problem, after uploading the latest version on iTUNES online. I closed the program and tried again, same message. My cable internet connection works just fine, so I am assuming the problem is on their end. I will check in with you guys to see if someone figured it out.
    Thanks
