Error message: Loading odsam failed!

Pulling my hair out on this one.
Have a Tiger 10.4.11 server that I want to share files out via samba to some windows machines. The Mac systems on the network have no problem accessing the shares via afp, but neither the Mac or windows machines can access the shares via samba.
Here's a bit from the samba log file (log.smbd):

It appears I have a problem with the pdb_odsam plugin not loading, but I have no clue how to fix this and can find no other posts on Google or anywhere else of users having this problem.

Can somebody please help me figure out how to get this plugin to work?

I'm not sure which permission you are referring to. Do you mean file permissions or user account permissions such as admin?
I read the the post you referred to and it does not apply. We are not running an AD environment.
I just don't understand why the plugin is not loading or how to repair it.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
You may see one folder in there and that's the one you want. If you see more than one, look for the one with the most recently modified files.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of VLC Player. I had no idea what VLC is but it seems a safe (and free) feature. I googled it and downloaded latest version for XP. All DVDs now play perfectly! Still no joy with other players but who cares. Many thanks, full marks. Owen

Sorry for your frustrations! What browser and browser version are you using? Are you able to clear your cache and go to www.eprintcenter.com? Any additional information you can provide will be very helpful.

Sorry to learn that you are having this issue.
Let's do this 1st
- Reboot the computer.
- Open the browser (Internet Explorer, chrome, FireFox, Safari,Opera ) of your preference and clear cookies and internet (Browsing) history. In the browser of your preference try singing-in or registering to e-print.
If the above did not solved your issue, Please try this;
- Use another browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, firefox, safari, Opera).
Also this is what I heard from other members of the forum.
I heard here (other members of the community) that there is an issue that engineer are working on diligently that may be affecting this particular process. At the same time I know that other members have some success using this steps aforementioned.

I get an error message that sync failed to start

Wild guess but if your WinXP system has formatted your drive(s) as FAT32 then the maximum file size is 4GB. Could be that the download in 1080p is >4GB? (if formatted NTFS then this should not be a problem).
Again just a guess with iTunes on WinXP but something easy to check first.
